I was looking for a vegan breakfast couldn't find anything that was already closed by 3pm, I yelped this place and decided to try it, I was blown away by the food, the Asada is the best I've ever had! My husband and I tried for the first time tonight and it's incredible! Now my husband is definitely not vegan but this food was amazing! It's family owned with all the recipes coming from their grandma, so very authentic. The service was impeccable too and they even allowed us to taste test their tamale which isn't on the menu just yet. This place is amazing! I'm vegetarian, not a vegan and my husband is a full on meat eater but we both agree this place has some of the best food in Long Beach. The portions are generous and everything has so much flavor it's unbelievable. My husband wasn't expecting much and was extremely satisfied with everything. This is the best vegan Mexican menu you will find in the LA area. The service was sweet and caring. The chef/owner is a true gem and I'm so happy to see this type of remarkable talent in Long Beach. Pros: Food was tasty and pretty and well prepared. Staff were friendly enough and service was speedy. Cons: Food was a bit Pricey for the portion and messy to eat. The beans and rice were good but that's all I tasted since there wasn't much Al-Pastor in the burrito. No adult beverage options. Location is not so desirable. Overall it was a good experience, the food was flavorful and filling but I'm torn on whether or not I'll return, mainly because of price. I would recommend trying them out for yourself. As far as ambiance, I think the place could use some greenery/plants, candles , and maybe some cushions. Due to My own ignorance, I thought the "ribs" would be protein in nature (like I said, they were tasty though) just a note for anyone wanting something meat-like. At no point during my visit did I get a sense of story or history so there's something to be desired there. We have been wanting to try this place , and so glad we had the opportunity last night . First just a few minor things, there is only four parking spaces so be prepared for street parking . We parked down the street. Second , the service was definitely slow last night . There was only one server and she did a great job. It is small inside inky a few tables so make sure you get there early for a good seat. The sun was definitely shining on us for majority of the time. If you are in a booth though , less heat from the windows. Ok now on to positive! Everything ! The food was amazing. We both got burritos, chips and guac to share and an order of the churros . The chips were amazing and homemade . I could have eaten a whole basket! The burrito, I got shrimp , was flavor filled and huge. But my main love was the churros . They are little churro balls , think donut holes, served with an amazing sauce and a scoop of ice cream . Literally the best thing ever ! I stepped in here once before but immediately left because I sensed a certain vibe about the place. I decided to give them another chance. Went here during a Sunday afternoon. I regret to say I won't be back. Now I know why there's not much people here. The company is clearly struggling and it was painful to sit there and try to eat. The restaurant was nickel and dime-ing everything. A small side container of sauce costs $4. They didn't want to accommodate anything at all. We kindly made a certain request and the young girl (niece of the owner) didn't even budge to ask if her uncle can make it. She straight said no and made no effort to even try. She was very adamant that uncle wasn't going to do any type of requests so there's no point in asking. Everything we asked for was a no. They either didn't have it, or they weren't going to do it. It's a Mexican restaurant. They didn't have anything. They didn't have any type of hot sauce, No lime... No jalapeños. NOTHING. What? I was thinking what Mexican restaurant doesn't even have any hot sauce for their particular dishes? Not even the store bought Chalula, Tapatio, Tabasco? They were skimping and saving their condiments to save money. Man, they must be really struggling because when we asked for just a small side of salsa, the girl hesitated for a long time and said "ummmmm I'll see". Order to-go. There's no point in dining in. There is no real service. They don't have anything or nothing much to offer. Everything we asked for they had nothing of. Every answer to our question was a big NO. There's no service to be done because they weren't able to provide anything. Not trying to sabotage this small business--only trying to help hopefully maybe the owner will pay more attention to customer needs then maybe more will keep coming back. Unfortunately I won't be back. I would have been a returning customer if at least a little bit of effort was made to make our stay and experience more pleasant. What a missed opportunity. read more

Getting the right "mouth feel" or meaty texture is an art. Plantitas is a master! Their al pastor and asada remind me of my youth; going to TJ for a dental appointment and then stopping by Las Ahumaderas for some bomb ass tacos. Burnt/crispy ends, seasoned and favorable proteins, tortillas dipped in the protein's oil. In all honesty I think I would have preferred a more simple taco with cebolla, cilantro, salsa y guacamole, but I can't complain because the sauces were good (plus my nostalgia is giving me a bias too to be honest). This is not fast food! It is made to order! And you can taste the attention each food item is given. The chips were freshly made! The guacamole was freshly made! Their sauces and salsas freshly made. The concept is cool but my problem was the food was just alright. I did order from DoorDash which may have been why the quality was a little weird. I ordered the flautas, the aguachile and the corn ribs. The aguachile had a ton of mango in it which made it really sweet and not spicy. The tostadas came a little stale so they were hard to bite through. The flautas were also very soggy idk if it was because it was so drenched in sauce or because they just rolled them and didn't fry them. They used corn instead of flour as well. The corn ribs were good though. I've been wanting to try those for a while and wasn't disappointed. I'd give this place another shot if I came in instead of ordered delivery. read more
