Wow, I wasn't sure what to expect when I saw a Vegan Mexican joint opened up in the West Side of Long Beach but boy was it good! When you look at the menu itself, it doesn't at all scream Vegan--they have all the dishes you'd expect and even a breakfast menu; there are plenty of proteins to choose from none of which are animal-based but do resemble respective meat choices. The menu also details what's in everything so you know what you're getting. I opted to try a carne asada burrito and I honestly wouldn't have known it was not meat! It's like some kind of magic trick. It had just the right amount of spice and kick to it and was super flavorful. There's a sauce drizzle on the outside of the burrito so just keep in mind you'll probably have to eat it with a fork and knife unless you like getting your hands very dirty (possibly you could ask not to have it if you want to eat it with your hands?). It can be a bit on the pricier side but I think that's to be expected when creating Vegan food at this level of flavor and quality of ingredients. The burrito was pretty filling though, I was super full after just half so you could definitely make 2 meals out of it which balances the price out a bit. The inside of the restaurant is super cute and looks brand new, service is really friendly and food came out pretty fast for a to-go order. Food: ridiculously good. We had the corn ribs, flautas, enmoladas, and orchata. It does a really good job blending the flavors so you can't even tell that it's vegan. The sauce that they use is really tasty, which is what makes the dishes stand out in flavor. Ambiance: small but cute. One waitress and maybe 2 people in the kitchen. But very efficient. It takes some time for food to come out depending on the amount of people there. So plan accordingly. Parking: terrible. But drove around and eventually found a spot down the street. I had the taco plate with asada, which was tasty. It came with rice and beans, though I wish the portions were bigger. I also would've preferred refried beans, but the flavor and texture were still good. When I walked in, it wasn't clear where to go since there was no hostess stand. I stood at the entrance for about 10 seconds before an employee noticed me and asked if I was dining in or picking up. They told me I could sit anywhere, so I chose a booth near the entrance. The employee brought both the food and drink menus, but no water was offered. Normally, restaurants either take a drink order right away or at least bring water, so that stood out. When I ordered a Coke Zero, they just handed me a cold can--no glass or ice. Not a big deal, just unexpected. Service wasn't slow, but it also wasn't as attentive as it could have been, especially since there were only two other parties in the restaurant (one already finishing up). I noticed the staff sitting at a booth on the far end chatting with friends (or other employees) about a trip to Joshua Tree and showing each other their phones. Since I only had an hour for lunch, I was nervous about timing, but luckily the food came out reasonably fast. The tacos themselves were good, but they really need hot sauce. They came with a chunky salsa roja, which had nice flavor but not enough spice for my taste. When I asked for hot sauce, I was just given more of the same salsa. read more

Had I known this place existed sooner, I would've already been a regular! I stopped here randomly after work recently with the intention to pick up a quick taco order to go, but once I arrived, it didn't feel right to rush out. I sat down, ordered a taco plate and a margarita and savored my dinner and my time there. I can't accurately describe the feeling of being there, but I felt like I was having a meal in beautiful Mexico. The service was great, but the food was the star of the night. I tried the mushroom taco and the carnitas (jackfruit) taco. Both perfectly cooked and seasoned. The beans were nice and spicy and the red rice was pretty solid as well. My margarita had the perfect amount of tequila, just a little sweet for my taste. I also ordered an order of churros to go. It came w a side of vanilla ice cream, which I gave away because I was too full. I had a few bites of the churros, but did not love them. I will absolutely be going back for more meals! My friend was visiting from out of town and craving Mexican vegan food. She also wanted to support local Latin-owned restaurants, especially with all the recent ICE raids happening in L.A. She found this spot on Instagram, so we decided to check it out--and we're so glad we did! The food here was amazing! When my friend and I arrived, we were greeted by the owner who was so nice. She told us everything was her recipe and if we didn't like it she'd give us our money back - which of course would not be needed at all! My friend and I got two different burritos to share. Both were great and super filling. I also appreciated that they were a little toasted and had some yummy sauce drizzled on top. I don't usually write reviews, but this place was so unbelievably bad it feels like a public service announcement to warn people. We ordered sit-down, and right away it was a disaster. The rice wasn't just lukewarm -- it was ice cold, straight from the fridge. For $22, I expected a decent amount of food. Instead, I got three tiny flautas filled with nothing but bland mashed potatoes and the smallest pinch of jackfruit. Totally flavorless. Even worse, we noticed from Yelp photos that there are supposed to be two distinct sauces served with these dishes. Both of our orders arrived with only one. When we asked about it, they sent one tiny cup of some sad, mayo-based excuse for mole. And when we asked why they didn't send two (since both orders were missing it), we were told: "We didn't want to wash another ramekin." Yes, you read that right -- they were literally too lazy to wash a small dish, so they just shorted us. Who does that in food service? And that "mole"? Absolutely disgusting. It tasted like vegan mayo gone wrong -- toothpaste mixed with nothing. Completely inedible. When we politely raised our concerns with the waitress, she looked terrified and insisted we talk to the owner. We asked why, and she froze like she didn't even want to say more. Enter the boss: a rude, arrogant woman who came over immediately hostile, snapping, "So what's the problem?" Instead of listening, she denied everything, claimed the rice couldn't possibly be cold, accused me of being "picky," and tried to gaslight me. Her exact words were: "Well, I wouldn't walk into your work and tell you what you're doing sucks." Excuse me? I never said anything like that. I gave honest feedback that her own staff insisted I give. I didn't even want to speak to her. Then came the excuses. She bragged about their supposed "five stars on Yelp" (false), claimed Long Beach is "known for vegan food" (also false), and insisted that because they're so highly rated, there's "no way" they could ever deserve negative feedback. Ridiculous logic. At that point, not knowing how to respond to this aggressively triggered woman, I asked (genuinely) if she could recommend another vegan spot in Long Beach. She smirked and said: "Oh no, I'm not going to do that because you don't deserve to know." Unbelievable. This woman was literally trying to start a fight with us. For what? I just wanted a refund on my terrible flautas and to leave. So, to recap: Ice cold rice. Microscopic, flavorless flautas. Missing sauces. Lazy excuse of not washing a ramekin. Disgusting mayo-based "mole." Hostile, gaslighting owner with zero professionalism. There's no way this place has a 4.7 rating unless they're buying reviews. This was hands down the worst vegan or Mexican food I've ever had anywhere. Overpriced, underwhelming, and run by someone who clearly doesn't care about customers. read more

Oh my god, the food here is excellent. I got the taco plate. It was home-cooked to perfection. The rice has the right amount of seasoning. The beans are spicy and tender. The Al Pastor and Asada tacos are so flavorfully delicious. I ate the food so fast I forgot to take photos. This is the best vegan Mexican food I have ever had. I wanted to order a second plate. The food at PlanTita's is good. The service is lacking. They are very nice, but they are understaffed, and the food takes forever to arrive. Also, the 3 or 4 times we've dined there, we all get our food at different times. No kidding, the last time we were there, it took at least 20 minutes from the time we got our first place until the last. And from start to finish, we were there for almost 2 hours, most of which was waiting for food and drinks in general. And the waitress mixed up our order with another tables'. The last time we were there, I ordered the flautas which were very good. My daughter ordered the breakfast burrito which was okay. But they both required knives and forks to cut into, and instead they gave us spoons and forks. It was impossible to eat. We felt awkward asking for knives- like shouldn't knives and forks be a given? I understand that they are a new business and it was obvious they were struggling, so we did not complain. But their Instagram presence is really good, so it makes you think they are established enough to handle a rush. They just can't. Yet. I really am rooting for this business, and I want them to do well--especially as a vegan restaurant. Hoping they have a run of good luck and can turn it around! My sister is vegan and we were in town for an event and found this spot. We all had the burrito and they were fire. Service was good and the location was decent. I however did not like that they let dogs in the restaurant. Last thing i want is possible dog hair in my food. If that's not an issue for u then this spot is 5/5 but the allowing pets in a place where food is being served is not something I'm ok with and that's the only reason for the 4 stars. read more

I got their Al pastor fries, to die for! The fries were seasoned right and right amount of crunch factor as well! A lot of flavor with the beans, Al Pastor, garlic aoli sauce, cheese sauce, top with Guacamole! 10/10. I also ordered their mole chilaquiles, 8/10, the tortilla chips were crunchy which was my favorite part but I felt like the mole needed a little flavor, beginning taste was good but then the after taste was bitter. The plate came with rice and beans which were so good! Lastly I ordered their Eggs Benedict, 7.5/10, the Just Eggs were so good, the sauce and beans gave it so much flavor! The only reason I have a 7.5 was I wish there was a side such as hash browns or potatoes, but also the biscuit got soggy.
