Recommended by our favorite dentist. He's eaten here a many of time and said if we're in the area we should give it a try. Called after being at ABT (Our unscheduled Christmas Purchase to the family); Told me they do not take reservations, the wait would be about 40 minutes. We we're hungry at this point and figured let's give it a go. Arrived and walked in, spotted the owner/wife, informed her that we were a party of five, what would be the wait time...She informed me with a smile, they'll get a table ready right away. The atmosphere was of a higher caliber and white tabled feel. Already impressed with Plateia. Sure enough, we were seated and our Server was Tomas. An enjoyable chap, offered us some of the specialties and go too items as well. We ordered our various cocktails and placed our appetizers: Two orders of Saganaki, Octopus, Grilled Calamari. Our Entree's were the following: Moussaka, Riganati, Lamb Youvetsi, Lamb Kokinisto, Penne Kotopoulo. Meals were Cooked to perfection. The staff functioned like a well oiled machine or choreographed to precise execution. Finished up with there "Ice Cream" dessert, I finished off with a Greek coffee. A perfect finish to an enjoyable gastronomic experience. As we left there was a long line to enjoy Plateia. Looking forward to stopping by again, whether with Family or a late business luncheon. Had a great work team lunch at Plateia! Our waiter was fantastic in handling our party of 11 on a busy weekday. Service was quick and he was great at providing recommendations. They have a nice outdoor patio space for when the weather is nice, which I recommend. There is also a large parking lot, so no worries there. I opted for the Pork & Chicken skewers. One of my all time favorite restaurants! Been back here many times and always leave satisfied. There are a few of my go to dishes but one I always get is the char-grilled chicken. The char-grill taste really comes through on this dish. The chicken is always tender and juicy. The service is always nice. The restaurant often host big events while still open to public. Just had an amazing dinner at Plateia. I rarely write reviews but couldn't let this meal go by without giving them public kudos. The food was amazing, as it has been the other times we've been here. The warm bread and olive oil while you wait is a nice touch and a life-saver when you're hungry. We got the tiramosolata with pita bread for an appetizer. Delicious! For the meal my husband had skewers, one pork and one chicken. I had the salmon. All delicious. We both got the grilled vegetables for our side dish. The balsamic sauce on the veggies is fantastic! I would come here just for that! The service was also spot-on. Our waiter, Vagelis, was always right there when we needed something but never hovered or bothered us. The busboys were very attentive and kept our table clean and our water glasses filled. They deserve to be tipped for that as well! The waiter brought us a free dessert for my birthday (also delicious! I would happily pay for it on a regular day). We just ate in Greektown in the city a few days ago and this surpassed it by far. Love Plateia! The outdoor patio and music provides the perfect environment for a nice evening out with friends and or family. While the parking may seem full, there is plenty of seating inside and out. They do not take reservations so expect a short wait during peak times. Since it was nice out, we chose to dine Al fresco. We actually came here the first weekend after Chicago opened up after the COVID shut downs back in 2020. We've been back ever since for the outdid dining experience. Our group of four ordered multiple rounds of appetizers to share. Everything was super delicious, from the spreads to the Greek village salad to the grilled calamari. I also had the bifteki and oven baked potatoes. We finished the evening with a frappe and an ek mek for dessert. Service was exceptional. If you love Greek food, you should definitely give this one a try. Delicious food and plenty of choices on the menu. The outdoor patio is lovely, and if you go there in warm weather do sit outside. At night it's particularly charming. The saganaki is done just right, the avgolemono is delicious and the lamb is out of this world. I love sitting on the patio in the evening, finishing a meal with a Greek coffee and a scrumptious piece of baklava. A great restaurant, and even more fun sitting outside in the warm weather months. Wow, this place is amazing. We ordered the grilled octopus for an appetizer and it was BY FAR the most tender we've ever had and a large portion. Then we ordered the Chicken Riganati which is a half free-range bird roasted in a sauce that we wanted to DRINK. We wound up asking for a to go container of the gravy/sauce that the chicken came in so we could warm up the leftover chicken that we could not possibly eat that night. First time visiting here and will be the last. Got two old fashioned and a cocktail, one appetizer and two entrees. Food was ok, liked the mushroom chicken risotto that was not a regular menu item and was a special for today. Lamb chop with potatoes was meh. Some weird sour seasoning on the potatoes that I wasn't a fan of and didn't eat any of them. I was shocked to see the bill. We came in for a casual dinner and ended up paying close to $200 with tip. No prices shown on the drink menu. $40 for two old fashioned LOL Got fried calamari for appetizer and there wasn't enough marinara sauce so we asked for more. Again charged $1.35 or something for it on the bill. 3% credit card fee is insane, not even a flat fee but charging 3% of your bill. And it was already added to the bill when they didn't even know what type of payment method we were gonna use. It's getting out of hand and I'm sick of this culture. read more

The ambiance was great and we were greeted by friendly staff. The food, however, was less than average. The taramasalata was terrible and the grilled calamari was so rubbery we each ate one piece and then pushed it aside. My salad was okay and my husband's lamb was good, but all of it was totally mediocre, at best. I informed both the waiter and the hostess about our calamari and we literally left the entire plate, but no one felt it necessary to remove it from our bill or even throw us a dessert to make up for it. This is a very nice and quaint restaurant that has outdoor seating that has vibes of a Greek patio in the summertime. The service was wonderful and the location was very clean and presentable. The food we ordered was the chicken entree that came with rice and it was tender and moist. The hummus trio came with three types of hummus, all of which were fresh in taste and hot the right notes. The eclair cake was a hit and I had it paired with a hot latte. The cake was delicious and had layers upon layers of cream and chocolate. Wanted to try this place after seeing them at Taste of the town in Wheeling---the Octapodi was my absolute favorite and wanted to check them out! The warm bread and olive oil are pretty fab and although we could've gotten more, opted not to in order to eat some of the other goodies. Ordered the saganaki--although tasty--there was no fire, no fanfare, no opa! involved--it was simply brought to our table like any other dish. The octapodi (grilled octopus) was awesome and I probably could've had another one of them. Loved the lemon and olive oil taste. The char grilled chicken had very good flavoring and smokiness to it. The oven potatoes were strangely on the sweet side--wish they were either more lemony or more garlicky. The moussaka was served in a casserole type of dish and although the top was browned and the sides were bubbly, the middle was room temperature---nothing a little mixing around won't fix but could've been better. My water glass was always full since anyone walking by would automatically refill my cup. I like there is ample parking and they are open late---in general there aren't that many places in the burbs open late, so good to know if we're in the area and want something tasty! read more

I came in with my family for lunch and I have to mention the atmosphere... it is absolutely beautiful and inviting inside!! They decorated for Christmas and it was just so clean and modern. Great place for a date! Lots of parking outside, although it was in the middle of the day so I'm not sure if it's harder to find a spot at night. They start you off with bread and this delicious olive oil. I know they do it differently then Italians but I did miss some vinegar! We ordered the saganaki (fried cheese) and fried calamari for a starter. I LOVED them both! The calamari was perfectly cooked and the sauce was a perfect pair. The fried cheese wasn't too heavy and it has a little lemon on it which made the whole dish. Highly suggest them both. My family has been here before and they said the hummus trio is really delicious too. As for the main course; I got the chargrilled chicken with potatoes and they both got chicken skewers with potatoes. Their potatoes are one of the main reasons I came here because I've heard nothing but great things. I was not steered wrong, super juicy and lemony potatoes. It kind of has a faint sweet taste which I found interesting but man dip that starter bread in the juices of the potatoes and your taste buds will thank you!! However the chicken was just ok. It was nice that it had the char from the grill but to be honest there was no flavor on them at all. I had to all salt and it just wasn't cutting it for me. My family loved the chicken skewers but honestly I had a piece and same ordeal - lacking spice and flavor. That was a real disappointment for me. We went on a Sunday, lots of large parties and families. It seemed festive. We were seated immediately - as we were a party of two. The calamari was excellent. Their bread with olive oil went well with the appetizers. I enjoyed their rosé selection - reasonably priced. The saganaki was ok. It needed to be hotter and wasn't flamed tableside (which I prefer). The Greek salad was fresh and very tasty. We had the skewers of pork and chicken. The oven roasted potatoes in the dish were fabulous with lots of flavor. Party of 4 with a reservation on a Thursday night. This restaurant was hopping and full of people. We were sat promptly and water glasses never saw the halfway mark. Waiter took the drink and appetizer order and disappeared. Apps came out quickly delivered by not our waiter and were delicious. No drinks. Waiter returns to take order; but where are the drinks? Waiter disappears again. Drinks arrive shortly and we order entrees. Entrees are fan-freaking-tastic. But where's the waiter? Where's the guy w the water? Finish meal but can't leave because no waiter means no ticket. Awkward as we try to convince someone we need to pay. Wonder if walking out will attract attention? My branzino was very fresh and very tasty and I ordered a green vegetable to go with it that was so good. (Sorry I forgot the Greek names for it) My husband have the pork skewers that he liked and the oven roasted potatoes were fabulous. The best part of course is their desserts. I ordered ekmek that is homemade and simply delicious to the last morsel. It's like shredded filo with vanilla custard walnuts topped with real whipped cream, yummy to my tummy. The service was impeccable and it was a very busy evening so kudos to the gentleman. Refilled our drinks, brought us plenty of water, very attentive and helpful with the menu. This restaurant does not take reservations- there was plenty of seating available indoor and outdoor (which quickly filled up by 7pm on a Friday evening). Wait time wasn't too long for us (party of 4). Service: quick, efficient and good! Food: excellent! We ordered Greek and hummus trio, saganski, zucchini fritters, beet salad, grilled vegetables, moussaka, pastichio, and fasolakia...everything was delicious and flavorful! Being a vegetarian- I had plenty of options (not enough protein, however it was still better than many other Greek restaurants). Price: $141 including taxes for 9 apps and mains. I have been here twice now, once in the winter, once in the summer. Summertime is the jam because of the outside patio. This place cracks me up because it is parked between a Taco Bell and a Pita Inn, and yet, has pretty good food. I opted for the lamb and it did not disappoint, if anything, it was a huge portion and I took half of it home. For dessert, skip the crepe and go for the eclair, tastes like a wonderful hoho.
