Stopped in here on a complete whim last Saturday am. I was actually walking to Charles Ifergen when I passed this salon I had never noticed. Walked in & asked for a hair cut and blowout. As I was getting on the elevator a lady got off with an amazing fresh cut bob. She said she had just came from here and saw the owner Diana. I walked in and was warmly greeted by a woman who said she would check to see if anyone was available. I figured no one would be available especially since I had realized this is a smaller salon. Shockingly I was then greeted by a really cute tall guy named Michael. Michael introduced himself and said he was available & could take me for a cut & blowout for $85. At first I was nervous since I had never seen this salon or Michael's work but with his confidence and style I felt like I was in good hands. Boy was I right!!! Michael is young but let me tell you he is highly skilled and trained!! You can tell he is passionate about doing hair. He gave me the best scalp massage while shampooing my hair! His hands are so strong! He actually dried my hair first and then cut it while dry so we could see each layer that he added. I have extremely long black thick hair and he blew it out fairly quick! His blowout was one of the best I've ever had & the cut was absolutely perfection!!! I actually asked him to go back & cut my layers a taddd shorter! Shocking because most stylist cut it shorter than I want. If you're looking for a great blowout or amazing cut I highly recommend coming to see Michael!!! You will adore him! read more

I don't recommend this particular salon if you have a natural wave and curly pattern to your hair. About two weeks ago an inexperienced stylist in Lakeview made a poor decision and added short layers to my crown and on the sides of my shoulder length haircut that I was trying to grow out into long layers. At least he left the back of my hair alone when he realized his mistake. He left with with a lopsided shag with too many layers but I was able to still play with it because curly hair is forgiving and there was still enough hair to play with. On Monday of last week I called this salon and specifically stated I would like a complementary consultation with their top curly hair specialist. The receptionist said they never offer haircut consultations just color consultations but Dianne overheard the receptionist and encouraged her to hand her the phone. Dianne booked me for a consultation at 1:30 but once I arrived she criticized the cut and made fun of the look making feel like an immediate cut right on the spot would "fix" the mess of layers. Michael her assistant in training shampooed me (he's a nice person this isn't his fault) and then Dianne had me in her chair and told me she would be flat ironing my hair to "blend" the layers because each side was different from the other. Obviously this was a huge mistake because I saw her go through each layer and sort of softly point cut into everything. In other words she took the side I liked the least and copied it to match the fuller side of hair so I had even more layers in my hair to where it looks like a round bob haircut. Dianne was slow last week on Monday and Obviously she encouraged me to accept this haircut before I was emotionally ready for another huge change. If Dianne had been more honest and told me to be patient and come back to her salon in 3 to 4 months I would have more respect for her because all she did was remove extra weight and bulk from the crown of my hair with point cutting techniques that took more weight and volume from my hair. She flat ironed my hair and of course it looked fine like that for a few days until I took a shower and got my hair wet and realized she had over texturized the back of my scalp too and my hair felt much lighter! I looked awful with this style worn curly and immediately regretted my decision to entrust another new stylist with my hair. She had charged me $155 to overtexturize my curl to the point that my hair feels even less heavy. I had to cut at least another quarter inch from the bottom and add mini fringe this week because I needed to balance the awful cut she left me with. When I sent her a text message and photo of the cut she had given me worn curly she responded by saying it will grow out beautifully and happy Thanksgiving because initially I had given her a 5 star review when I wore my hair straight. She didn't want to take responsibility for her mistake or invite me back to the salon or offer me a partial refund for her error in judgment. Instead she wished me a Happy Thanksgiving. Well I'm going to wait 4 to 6 months and trim a quarter of the bottom of my hair and ignore all these layers and not have a happy Thanksgiving or a happy chanukah etc because I haven't had my hair this short in years. My hair wasn't damaged or chemically processed but now it's much much shorter than I'd like. I would have preferred the goofy looking shag I had than this non hairstyle. Next time a stylist suggests they cut my curly hair after flat ironing everything out I will simply get out of their chair and wish them well. Curly hair should be cut wet first then after it's completely dry maybe trim a little for precision cutting. The photos I'm including are of my haircut with Dianne worn straight and then worn curly. Honestly for the amount of money I spent here it absolutely wasn't worth it and now I have even more awkward layers to grow out thanks to her mistake. read more

It took me a while to post this but I think I needed to guide people like me that want to give a new salon a try. But no, I almost faint when they charged me $400 dls for a toner, color touch up and a blow dry. Service was nice and friendly but definitely over priced!!!! Don't do the same mistake like me, ask first for prices before you booked with them. Also if you happened to have an appointment and you don't cancel 24 hrs ahead they will charge you a fee which is absolutely insane. That's the reason they ask for a credit card in order to book an appointment. read more

Kelsey is young but extremely professional and poised. She has a crazy amount of experience - even high end experience with celebrities. She has cut my hair EXACTLY how I imagined. She truly wants her work to be loved by her clients and will do her absolute best to deliver higher expectations than are expected. She has also styled my hair for events, fun nights out, and for Coachella this year. She is always trying to out do herself and will research the latest trends and will push the envelope how little / much you're comfortable with. I went in very anxious because I never have been to a salon before. They took care of all my concerns here. Madison did my hair and she made suggestions based on her expertise but was not pushy at all. She let everything ultimately be my decision. I came in with my high expectations for my hair and she did above and beyond! I could never imagine my hair to look healthy blonde from being a natural brunette and she did it! I loveeee this place. I usually see Jenna for cut/color or Marcelino for a cut, and I trust both with my locks and my life. I'm SO lucky I found Platinum coming from the burbs because I'm the type who doesn't trust a hair salon after being burned once, but this place is great. Everyone feels like family, they spoil you with coffee/tea/mimosas when you're there, they have a better playlist than most bars, and the team is some of the most fun people--you can tell they love their job. I usually get balayage highlights (full/partial), occasionally I'll pop in for a blowout, and every time I leave my hair feels 20x healthier than when I walk in. I don't like to complain but would never step foot in this salon again. NATE gave me the worst cut I ever had and proceeded to be catty and talk about people while I was getting my hair done. I don't even know him and this was my first cut and he was gossiping about people in a rude way. He should stop running his mouth and pay more attention when cutting hair so he learns how to do it. This cut was so important since I was maid of honor in a wedding a few days later. Probably the salon is fine but NATE has no business being there. read more

OK! I had to run home to leave a review because I just had the best hair experience of my life. I am brand new to the city so I was SO nervous going to someone new especially because I am so peculiar about my hair. The moment I walked in, the entire staff was SO friendly and engaging. Ashton listened to all of my hair concerns and got a full picture of what I wanted. She paid such close attention to detail. I was never nervous once because I could tell how thorough she was. She was phenomenal with placing highlights, using the right gloss, styling and the dry cut!! Diane, the owner, was so sweet and offered me champagne. The entire experience was marvelous. The space is centrally located in the heard of Gold Coast shopping (basically right above Prada on Oak Street). It has a clean common area, and a bright and inviting lobby in the salon space. Everyone smiles and greets you, and welcomes you like family; the owner, the stylists, front desk manager and assistants. It's a fun environment, but also relaxing; good music, they're always offering you a refresh on beverage or checking on you. JENNA is my colorist and I get so many compliments on my color, months after I see her. It's the best blonde I've ever had, and each time I see her I don't have a "plan" but she knows exactly what I want. Kelsey and Ashton have both styled and cut my hair and Marcelino has blown it out, as well! I would trust any, and all of the stylists there with my hair color and cuts.
