We are just starting our project. Nick was an absolute pleasure to work with and let us change our design multiple times and gave great suggestions to help us build our dream pool while keeping costs down. He also told us upfront about the delays we may encounter because of some supply issues. He also said that will dictate their timeline somewhat because he doesn't want us to have a huge hole in the ground during monsoon season before concrete is definitely available. He said we're talking about 8 months till completion and we understand why. Nick has been incredibly professional and thorough in every aspect. He says they've learned a lot from their reviews about communication and we absolutely believe that! DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. We loved Paul and the design he created but that was the only thing good about this company. They are horrible at communicating and if you don't push them, they won't do anything. We signed our contract in April of 2021 and nothing happened until March of 2022 and the first day they were on our property we had an issue that was never resolved. We were ghosted for weeks and months at a time, every single person on the team made commitments they couldn't keep and when mistakes were made, they didn't fix them. Zero communication and consideration. When we escalated via email to the owner complaining about the office staff lying, he sent the email to the same office person we were complaining about and never once contacted me about it. Even one of his project managers admitted that he had to tell us "something" vs. the truth. Once they were fired, they were here more than they ever were before harassing the new company we hired, trying to get in my yard even after we told them they are no longer allowed. We notified our security front gate that they were not allowed in our yard and on two different occasions, they still tried to come in. Our new contractor was well aware of this company didn't have nice things to say either. I could keep going but its not worth it. Please just trust me, don't use this company. The owner, Larry Simmons, is disrespectful, unprofessional and refuses to acknowledge their mistakes. It's unfortunate. We now are getting ready to file a lawsuit against this company to get our deposit back so wish us luck! read more

My $70k + Platinum Pool was built in 2015 and was constructed at the same time that my Meritage Home in Gilbert, AZ was built. The pool and deck was designed by Paul Martin of Platinum Pools at the Meritage Design Center in Chandler. During the design we opted for the underwater pop up cleaners. Paul told us about this relatively new system that was very popular and included a lifetime warranty. My pool service recently told me that the gears in the canister behind my pool were broken and the pop up cleaners were not operating. The cost for replacement was quoted at approximately $500. I was talking to my neighbor about this problem and he informed me that his pool that was built by Presidential Pools at nearly the same time experienced the same problem. When he contacted Presidential Pools, they sent him replacement parts at no cost, but they couldn't supply the labor to install. My neighbor said it was an easy job that he did in about 15 minutes. I called Platinum Pools to obtain the same part and was told they were sorry but it was not a warranty part and they would not stand behind it. My problem is that the Platinum Pool's customer service is not of the quality that was offered to my neighbor's Presidential Pool. Although this broken part is only about $250, I cannot and will not recommend Platinum Pools to anyone and everyone. read more

This was a true home run. Some of our tenants describe the pool as feeling like they are at the Las Vegas Bellagio Pool. The jets create such an amazing atmosphere! Worst scam company. They don't actually build your pool, they higher all sub contractors to build your pool. And you are at the mercy if they remember to schedule the next person after each step. Platinum is horrible, it was such a painful experience all the way through. I know every company has bad reviews, but this one is really terrible. We were quoted 6 to 9 months to completion, construction should've started shortly after our new build was completed (the contracts were signed 6 months prior). I moved in my house February 2022, it is now September 2023 and I still do not have a pool. After the original plans were done I requested the pool be shifted and added a heater, which they quickly accepted the money to make these changes, but apparently never completed the change request so all the trades coming out to the house had the wrong plans, I had to provide them the plan personally. Things were not built to plan. Platinum refused to correct the issue, or even respond to my several emails explaining these issues and asking them to be addressed. There was hardly any communication on when they would send people out. I was woken up by surprise the people on my backyard several times. They carelessly cut through the wire to my drippers. I lost 2 trees and several plants due this in addition to repairing the wire. They did the same to the neighbors too. Where they cut was a few inches from the house where you can see the wire above ground so it was fairly obvious and I believe could have been avoided if anyone cared. Of course they don't care, they already have your money and their answer is any damage is not their responsibility. They apparently hired another company to try to help them keep up or catch up on these jobs that they apparently have overbooked themselves on. Even the pool inspector made a comment on the length of time the pool has taken proving that this is not the only project platinum has had delays on. I feel so stupid for choosing this company and totally feel taken advantage of. Not valued as a customer whatsoever. There was nothing I could do about it. Signed ppwrk May 2021. Moved in the house February 2022 (when I was told construction off pool would start). September 8 2023 pool started to be filled with water. October 20 2023 finally the heater got connected. Almost 2 years later and we still are not done. Apparently they filled the pipes with concert so they aerorates don't work. I've had to remind them every 1 to 2 weeks that this is still an issue since beginning of September. They had to break up the concrete to access the pipes to fix the issue, now I have 2 different color concretes and this was not completed until December 2023. read more

***Update, our pool is done. We started 9/27/19, finished 3/19/20. Michelle in the office helped us get through the last item that needed corrected that Platinum will be doing. We have a few things we will do on our own at this point. As an almost finished product, we really do like our pool*** We didn't choose Platinum Pools; they were our home builders preferred pool builder, and for us it made sense to build the pool and have it mostly done by the time we closed. In fact, we were told by increasing our down payment, that it could be as much as 95% done, which was a big drawer. First off we want to say that everyone we dealt with was cordial and mostly friendly with Platinum. Pros: -Design: Paul was great to work with. He made the pool design and selection process easy and was very helpful and informative. This is easily the highlight of our dealings with Platinum. -Final Product: While our pool isn't completely done....which will be addressed later, we are happy with the overall pool that we will be getting. It matches the design from Paul, and is really what we wanted. We think it will be a great part of our backyard. -The owner: Honestly, it isn't often that you have to involve an owner when having a project like this done. Unfortunately we did. The positive is that Larry did return calls, and did help us out in getting the project done. Cons: -Communication: Easily the biggest issue we had. After the design process was complete, we had a few months before our home would be far enough along to start pool construction. No problem. But...we had to reach out to Platinum to start the permit process as the side walls were getting set to be built by our home builder and the excavation needed to get completed before that. We ended up with a hard dig....which happens, but when I called the office to get the info on how to pay their contractor doing the hard dig....they told me I would need to call them myself and figure it out. After the excavation the next few weeks of the project actually went really well. Jennifer from the office gave us a schedule and it was basically followed until we failed our first inspection. Apparently whoever was in charge didn't know that the plumbing lines needed to be shaded...and this is really where our project went off the rails. It took over 2 weeks for them to figure out how to get the sand and someone to place it on our plumbing lines, in addition this was the end of the schedule and any level of communication from Platinum's Construction scheduling. We would call, frustrated that nobody was updating us AND nothing was happening on our project. During this time we we would often be told that they had scheduled work to be done on specific dates....only to have no work be done and no call from Platinum to tell us why. This was easily the most frustrating part....we didn't care that the project was taking longer than it should, as much as we were lied to week after week after week about the work they "were scheduled" to do, that never happened. Supervision: There is a pool super overseeing the job....but I don't really know why. Other than a call when the project was first starting and one more for the hard dig, we didn't receive any communication from the super. We had many concerns and issues and were forced to eventually get the owner to take our calls just to get answers. We aren't saying the super doesn't know his job, just that he was absolutely no help to us. We have many examples, but this review is already too long to list them all. We have security camera's and the super would show up for 30-45 seconds at our pool....snap a few pictures with this pad and then leave. No communication, no call in advance that he would be there etc...no checking in at all. Cost/Time of Project: Look, when you build your pool during your home build I think most people expect to pay a little more, and you will. Platinum isn't overly competitive on pricing. I think convenience is supposed to be the big draw for them. The timeline could work out okay....but you must expect to constantly get your own updates, and try to keep the project moving on your own. Don't expect Platinum to drive this process. To summarize: Our pool is filled, waiting on them to finish grout, replace tile, clean tiles etc . Completed 3/19/20 We like our pool, we feel like we will love it when it's done. We hated the process. We expected to pay a bit more...so the $40k price tag was okay for us. Ultimately, Larry and Michelle did what needed to be done to get our project finished. If you need to go through your builders preferred builder, be prepared to stay on top of the project yourself and know there will be frustrations along the way...and expect a longer time frame. read more

Went with them through Richmond American - Contract signed 3/21, excavation started 9/13/21 and still no pool. we were told that we were a preferred customer and our pool would take priority because we went through Richmond but that's been a bunch of lies. Hard to get updates on when next phases will be scheduled, or told a date and no one shows or just no update at all. I've watched pools be built around us by other companies and they had finished in 3 months. My neighbors went with Presidential Pools & they had a completed pool in 3 months - wish I had gone with them. Travertine work on our pool is average (paid $6K for travertine, that sat in the street for a month) - crew couldn't even build the fountain to spec & had to come out multiple times to get it right, still has flaws but gave up on asking them to fix it cause we know it will just keep delaying things. We went with this company because Richmond American home builders recommended them, like I said do your own research, Platinum has been reported to the ROC multiple times. We had a pool built 2 years ago, we paid $150 to set up a Volleyball net and it was never done nor were we refunded for the incomplete work. They also pinched a gas line that we had to pay to be fixed. We had repairs done to the pool and they were done sloppy and more damage was done. Think twice before you purchase a pool through this company. My pool was finished in December 2018. There were a lot of issues I had to resolve myself during the process which took over six months to complete. I recently called platinum because I have rust spots around the pop-ups and on the seat of the pool. The told me my pool was no longer under warranty and that I could schedule a service for them to come out and look at the pool. This would cost me $85 just to look at the pool. PLATINUM POOLS installed our pool when the home was built in late 2016 in Surprise. It was the model home in a development and not occupied until I purchased the home in October 2018. In March, 2019 the motor went out. Platinum was very difficult to deal with and the builder ended up covering the repair expense. Fast forward to today and my pool service states the pump is out. They provide the serial number to the manufacturer, Hayward. Hayward will not cover the pump because the serial number was to a pump from 2014. So when the new home was built in 2016, PLATINUM POOLS used a pump that was already two years old. After the runaround from the last issue, I'm just going to save a lot of time and effort dealing with PLATINUM POOLS and get the pump replaced. I know what the outcome would be based on their last issue. As stated with some previous customers, honesty and integrity is not something that PLATINUM POOLS can be known for. A two year old pump at the time of installation says it all. Very sneaky! Do yourself a favor and find a pool company with integrity. I'm sure there are many. I write this poor review not solely for the project delays, but for the extreme deficits in planning and communication exhibited by this company. The dig for our pool was 8/25/2021. It is now July 2022 and we need electrical hookup, our firepit completed, and pebble in the pool. We are on to yet another new point of contact with Platinum, as everyone we met initially is no longer with the company. Project delays are understood, as we all know labor and materials are hard to come by right now. My issue is with communication and planning. We have currently been ghosted for weeks, with no response to our multiple emails, texts, phone calls and voicemails. Are they even still in business? I honestly don't know right now. There literally cannot be worse communication. As for planning, I have come to learn that the next step of the project is not considered until I personally call and inform them the prior step is completed and we need to move on. For example, we were told for months that we were waiting on pavers to come in stock. Multiple phone calls later, I finally reach Nataly who tells me that she will look in to ordering them that day. What?? Why weren't they ordered a year ago, 6 months ago, 3 months ago? Why did I have to call many times to force the issue? This happens as I watch my neighbors hire a new landscaper, and get their entire backyard covered in the same pavers I'm waiting for in 3 weeks time. This signaled to me that Platinum has some major problems. Hopefully in writing this review I will be contacted by someone with the company, get word they are in fact still in business, and maybe even get an update on my pool. read more

I wish at this point we would have dug the pool with shovels. We would have a better chance of it being done before these people. SERIOUSLY! We were told 120 days total in June 2021, after over 7 months and maybe a handful of returned phone calls we have a whole, pipe and re-bar that failed 3 inspections. After expressing frustration we were just told today (1/31/22) it might be another 6 to 8 weeks for Shock Crete. We have a backyard we can't landscape or use and no idea when that will be possible. Feelings might be different if they returned calls or spoke to you with a shred of courtesy when you get them to answer. All you do get is "we'll call you tomorrow with a schedule". Platinum Pools is the preferred pool company for our new home builder. Unfortunately, the are extremely overpriced. First, if you build a pool at the same time me is being constructed, expect to pay at least $3k more. I was told by other companies that this is the "referral fee" paid to the builder - not sure if it's true or not. Secondly, they can't compete against other companies. I received 7 bids from local pool contractors, all came in $20k less than Platinum Pools with better equipment and features! If you are in the market, do yourself a favor and visit other companies, you'll be surprised how much difference there is. read more

It took me a while to post this review as I wanted to spell out the facts and not post off pure emotion. We had our meeting with them on September 5th 2020. I am having a house built in Queen Creek and Richmond American has Platinum Pools & Spas as their preferred pool builder, so we thought we would give them a try. Wow, what a waste of time! We arrived at our appointment with Paul Martin about 15 or 20 minutes early. The person at the front desk was friendly and politely let us know that Paul was not quite ready to meet with us. Paul was obviously irritated that we had showed up early, even though we were clearly not in a hurry to start our "consultation". He started off the meeting showing us the different pool finishes and tiles, highlighting the least expensive options as if he could tell from how we were dressed that we could not afford to upgrade. He then lets us know that they are no longer offering the pools to be built at the same time as the home, which was a factor in our decision to meet with them. We understood, as this was not a decision made by Platinum but by Richmond. We began to explain to him what we were looking for in a pool, we were expecting that he would use his drafting program to show us a rendering, but it never happened. Instead he decided to keep telling us about other customers he had designed for..."People tell me what they want in a pool design, I put it together for them and then they can't afford it..." He also mentioned several times, "I am not the cheapest builder, so if you are looking for the cheapest, I'm not for you..." we never flinched as we had a pretty decent budget for our backyard. He basically spent the hour telling us that what we wanted was not possible due to codes and cost. He also made us very aware that he really didn't need our business, because he had more projects than he knew what to do with. As I mentioned before, he never gave us a rendering or any kind of pricing. It was a complete waste of time. He didn't have any business cards so he said he would email me his information and we would go from there. He told me to expect an email on Monday as he was leaving for vacation in a few hours. Not surprised that I still haven't received an email or any communication from Platinum Pools & Spas. We have since signed a contract with another pool and landscape company that we have had an amazing experience with! Hopefully someone from Platinum Pools & Spas reads this review and takes it seriously as you are turning away GOOD business! When we were shopping around for a pool builder we decided to check out Platinum. We were a few months ahead before our home closed so we figured it was time to make a decision on who we wanted to go with. Our sales guy Matt was super great to work with. He spent a lot of time helping us design the ideal pool for our weirdly shaped lot and answered all the questions we had asked. I told him I had read the reviews where the communication was lacking with this company and the Super was non-existent, but both Paul and Matt assured us the communication is top notch and they have a new Super that was fantastic. They were great salesman to say the least. They let us know how they were the best and the quality of their pools were the finest. They even went as far as to tell us their rebar construction was double the amount than their competitors. We found that to be a lie when we saw our neighbors pool had the same amount. They went with California Pools and of course finished within 45 days. When we finally closed on our house we let Matt know that we were ready fo it them to get started. He let us know it would take 45-60 days at max to finish. We are 4 months into the project and it's still not complete. Bob, the Super is nice. My husband talked to him more than I did so I can't write an honest review on their interactions. He did say Bob was very helpful in preparing us for the inspections. The front office never knew what was going on...and we had to remind them on a few occasions who we actually were. They always seemed surprised when we would tell them nothing had been happening with the pool for weeks. Then all of a sudden something would be scheduled... then a few more weeks would go by of nothing happening. It was a vicious circle. Our pool was finally filled with water, but they forgot to add chemicals, leave us our cleaning equipment, or even shows us how to turn on the pump. So, now several days later we have stagnant water. We called again and they were surprised that this wasn't done and they'd have someone come out. This has seriously been the worst company to work with and I regret wholeheartedly in going with them. We should've listened to those that had left reviews. Whenever anyone in Eastmark asks for recommendations I make sure to NOT recommend Platinum as it will soon be their worst mistake ever. read more

I was lied to about the project Superintendent living near us (if you've ever built anything, the Superintendent is your liaison between the trades workers and you. They are there to be the knowledgeable one to make the decisions when trades need help or something goes wrong.) I did not meet our Superintendent at all until the pool was complete and something had already gone terribly wrong! When they started the shotcrete inside of pool, my superintendent wasn't involved. The drawing the workers used was so vague that we had to make decisions about sizes of steps into the pool. Why am I making construction decisions for you? That's why I hired you! They placed my pump assembly right in front of the drain block in my back wall (the block that has drainage holes in it in the wall). When I finally met the Superintendent months later, he suggested I have the block moved over. What?? I paid for some animal tiles that get put into the bottom of the pool. They just plain FORGOT to order them. I noticed they were not in the pool when the pebble went in. I found out later from the pebble installer that our project coordinator called him at 9am the day the pebble went in, and was asking if he found them. Of course not! This is the worst part... She never even bothered to call me and let me know they didn't get ordered or what her plan was. I got nothing! After the pool is complete, the pool company is responsible for grading your yard back to pre-pool condition and drainage direction is proper again. First, they didn't show up at all and the Inspector failed our Final Completion Inspection. The Coordinator called and lied to me again and told me we passed inspection. I had the Failed inspection right in front of me. So, the grading crew showed up next day. It was 2 guys with shovels.... to properly grade a yard you need equipment to push tons of dirt in proper directions. After all that, I called my Home Builder Superintendent who built my house. He, on his own dime, had his crew come in to do it right. They had equipment and proper machinery to complete it. I also paid for an Ozone Generator. That never got ordered either. I had to email them and call them multiple times to ask when it would be installed. That didn't even get ordered until after it was complete. It had to be installed after the fact. So, my pool is incomplete to us. The forgot the tiles to insert in our pebble. I had to be my own Superintendent and answer construction questions the whole time. The Superintendent of your project will not be visible to you. So, after all was said and done I requested a meeting with the Owner of the company. He came to my house and said they could install my tiles into the pebble at the end of the season.....drain the pool. Cut the pebble out in places, and install the tiles later. (Like that would ever look right). Or they would "figure out another way to compensate us and say we're sorry." After me calling and emailing him and waiting to hear from him for over 3 weeks..... He sends me $100 in pool supplies gift cards and $100 in gift cards to a restaurant that is only in Phoenix, 100 miles away from where we live. Pretty impressive, huh. So, make your own decision as to how dangerously you want to live when you put your thousands of dollars into a pool company. 1. Communication is terrible beyond anything you can comprehend. 2. Superintendent is not going to be around as much as you think, to help you make decisions or fix issues, and there will be issues. 3. If something does go wrong, don't expect them to compensate you as they should because all they care about is getting your $30,000 or more, and keeping it no matter how badly the project goes for you 4. I, too, had concerns based on ratings and what people were saying. I made the 100 mile drive to their office felt great when I left. The price was great. The products they use are great, etc. What I would say is... You can put lipstick on a pig, but in the end it's still a pig. We found out the hard way! read more

We were having a home built by Lennar and was told Platinum pool was they preferred pool vendor and was the the only ones that could begin the project during the home construction. So we went with them. Was told we could have the pool completed a week after we closed on our new home if we put 50% down. We did so thinking we would be able to maybe enjoy the pool before the weather cooled. Well, we moved into the new home and the only thing that has been done so far is they dug a hole, ran PVC and did the shotcrete. Being told NOW the pool won't be done for another three weeks which is we'll after what we've been told. All I have to say, don't believe what a smiling face is saying to you at Platinum Pool and Spa. It means nothing. What shame!! read more

This is absolutely the worst pool company to use in the state of Arizona. I highly recommend against this company as we have had nothing but issues and on top of that horrible communication as well as bullying from the company. This has to be the most unprofessional company. They also demand payments despite work not being completed, which goes against Arizona Law. We had to contact the company daily in order to ensure work was moving forward, at one point being told the project coordinator was out of the office the prior week which may explain why our emails were not returned. How a business owner feels it is necessary to defend unreturned emails based on an employees leave, rather than apologizing for unreturned emails, is beyond me. This company is horrible and for an expensive pool company in the valley should provide a much higher level of service-do not use them. Both the president and project manager refused to communicate when issues were occurring, instead both LIED- all of which are in emails I will happily forward to any consumer even considering this company. Got a house built by Richmond in 2021. Closed September 2021. I was assured the pool would be done by 1st week of April 2022. Our pool is standard 12x28ft. They dug Hole Nov 2. They said 6 weeks they will do plumbing. I call 3rd week of December, where's plumbing? They said oh we will order materials this week and come out next week. January 2nd comes, nothing. January 3rd They call and say they are waiting for electricians then they will do plumbing so they can do jobs back to back. Week later they call and say electrician is Feb 16th so plumbing is 1st week of Feb. Ok. They do plumbing Feb 8th. Feb 10th rebar is done. Feb 18 I call as it's 2 days past electrician date, they tell me they are a few days behind. I wait 2 weeks, 1st week of March, they tell me they no longer have a date, but they are working on it..... today March 17 2022 nothing has been done since. Once they do electric it's 6 to 8 weeks for shotcrete then still finishing items. It's taking them longer to build a pool then it did to for Richmond to build my house. I wish I could drop this company and go else where but I'm stuck. Stay away from this company. Once they have you locked in, they no longer care about finishing since you're locked in financing with your house. read more

Platinum Pools was the only pool company we got a bid from so we signed a contract on 11-25-2020 with salesman Matt Abrahamson on pool we stated that pool must be totally completed by May 1st 2021 for we also have house in Minnesota that we must return to on the 1st of MAY. Matt promised that pool would move forward in a timely matter and no problem that will be completed by May 1st. I had his word on totally completed by May 1st. Here is what happened, which is not very much work being done calls to office pool manager Natalie has promised that pool will be done by May 1st. some workers will be here next week well no workers have been here since MARCH 9th.2021 today is April 18th. So I would not recommend PLATINUM POOLS . I have been lied to over and over ,the owner of platinum pools was supposed us about why the delay,no call yet. Our pool is not the largest but the price was right and we did not want a huge pool. We engaged Platinum and our rep Randy Gunsch came to the house. Told him what we wanted and how much we wanted to pay. The schedule was set and the pool completed on a schedule. Don't know about Platinum bring expensive, but they certainly are quality. No problems at all. Pool is just under 3 years old. They recommended Blue Iguana Pool Care and they have been great, too! Good outfit! read more

Terrible experience - We DO NOT recommend Platinum Pools. We made the mistake of not looking closely enough at the critical reviews and have experienced all of the frustrations expressed by others. If you are considering this company please do your research, read the reviews, and heed the warnings. We found them all to be true. In sum, they will make you believe you will be in your pool by approximately 'X' date and fail to meet that date. They will blame subcontractors, weather, inspectors, etc. but will not take responsibility for their inability to manage any of the aforementioned against the stated schedule. (they do not provide a written schedule) Sales will blame construction, construction will blame weather, the owner will blame subcontractors, etc, etc, etc...They did not provide the excavation and shot-crete contractor with the correct drawings causing delay due to having to correct mistakes in both the excavation and shot-crete stages...but it was always the fault of others. The last straw was when I called the owner to be told "I'm going in the bank, is it okay if I call you back when I get done?"....no problem...except I never received a call back. If the owner can't or won't do what he says he's going to do, it would explain why the entire operation leaves this perception. Each person we talked to here would tell you what you wanted to hear then not do what they said they would do...that would be followed by blaming others. When we ordered the pool we asked to have the UV ozone system installed, had quite an educational conversation about the equipment at the time, but it never made it to the order, never got installed, and apparently we never talked about it because it wasn't on the order. Looks like we are the liars and made this whole horrible experience up... We started with this company mid August 2019, they dug the hole the beginning of January 2020, and we are almost done the beginning of April 2020 (punch list items). This will not be our last pool however I promise it will be the last one with this company read more
