Worst play to sell honestly. Everytime I come here, they don't buy more than one item and it's crazy because I come first thing in the morning and half if my items are brand new. I bring in Brandy Melville, Princess Polly, Abercrombie, Edikted, Garage, and none if it sells. And the excuse is that the styles are outdated? Even though all the items were purchased within the year. Yet when I shop there, I see so much bad quality items with stains and holes and cheap items too from Shein etc. Last time I went there were 10 people in front of me and it only took ten minutes between me dropping off the clothes and getting the text that it was ready. The workers here are awful. There were four workers behind the counter. One was helping another lady and the other three were just huddled up and talking about if they should get an uber to some event they were all going to. I made eye contact with two of the three girls and smiled and gave the "I'm ready to check out now look" and they just stared at me with a bitchy face. The one girl working helped us but the others were rude, didn't even acknowledge us or say have a nice day as we walked out the store past them. This other lady trying to get a fitting room was waiting for so long to be helped before finally walking up to them and demanding a fitting room. Terrible employees!!! First off I like this place. They have a lot of clothes in my size which I appreciate, however the smell in this store is AWFUL. If you have sensitivity to perfume or candle like scents please for the love of god AVOID. I don't recommend Plato's Closet...My findings, I came with 3 pairs of Brand New Nikes Men's Shies, I don't want anymore to sell for some extra cash. When I arrived, I check on the doors and windows of the store to see if they are not accepting/buying products from customers. No signs on the door, stating they are not buying customers shoes or clothes. I proceed inside and wait for the next available associate, I was greeted by an associate with I need any help, since I was at the cashiers counter. When I stated I'm here to sell new shoes, I was cut off from the associate stating "there is a sign outside were not buying anything and didn't you see the sign when I came in?"My response was, "I don't see no sign coming in," and again I was cutoff from the associate about the sign being outside Plato's Closet is not buying anything from customers. I gather my shoes and walk out of the store, I checked again to see if there was a sign outside the doors, windows and even inside when I walked in and no sign is present. I was discouraged and upset of wasting my time driving down there to resell new shoes, I didn't need anymore. Also, the money would have been low, which is not the issue...I wanted to come back to sell more items (name brand clothing, shoes etc...) and shop there myself. After my first experience I was discourage to not come back and not recommend this store to anyone, because you don't know if they are buying clothes or shoes that day, when they advertise they want your stuff to buy from...leaving two stars. read more

Was accused of stealing, she wanted to look in my bag which is illegal as well as my jacket and jeans pockets. I paid for my items as she rung me up but the alarm went off so she humiliated me in front of everyone. I told her I wanted a refund and as I walked out of course the alarm did not go off. Obviously it was a magnetic tag. I reached out to the owners twice and they never got back to me. I've shopped at Plato's for years and have never been accused of theft. Came into this location for the first time earlier this week, looking to sell a good deal of items. They bought three items which was shocking to me based on previous experiences I've had at other locations. The three items they paid a total of $9.90. They couldn't round up $.10 to the next dollar? A lot of teens working here with no name tags on them, one girl who was checking me and was kind of friendly, and when I returned, the girl helping me seemed like she didn't want to even be there doing the work she was rather be conversing with her colleagues that was working with her. Never been here before, but I kept getting texts about their sales. I don't remember how I signed up for text messages. This time they were having a 90% off promotion, so I wanted to check it out for the first time to see if they had any second-hand Free People or Anthropologie outfits. When I arrived, I was disappointed to learn that only a few clearance racks full of overpriced cheap quality off brand pieces were part of the 90% off add'l sale. I didn't find a single item throughout the store that caught my eye. On the plus side, they will pay 30% of what they would normally charge at the store for your unwanted clothing. It's a great way to get some pocket change instead of donating to charity. Not sure how picky they are, though. I know that Buffalo Exchange only accepts fashionable, higher end brands. To my surprise, this thrift store seems to be popular and there were relatively a lot of customers. read more

Good selection, decent clothes. Staff extremely unprofessional, laughing at & making fun of customers when they left the store. It was staffed by a gaggle of tweens so the immature & unprofessional demeanor is understandable but unacceptable. Clothing prices were okay but their jewelry was extremely overpriced. They tried to charge $3 per ring for 8 cheap rings that were clearly a set, same size finish look and everything. I went on Google to show them that larger sets of equal quality brand new sold for $6 and they just said oh & let the sale go. Whom ever owns that store should consider better staffing to improve their business. It's a neat store so I hope they figure it out. read more

The new owner has done great things for the business, more variety in styles and way better prices. The new staff is also very sweet and actually accepts clothes. Happy to have a second hand shop with cute styles in the area, feels like a less expensive "consignment" store due to items being selected in advance, beginner level thrifting if you will. Not really sure what to say about this place. I attempted to sell clothes here. The clothes were in pristine condition. The majority of the clothes had tags on them, and were never worn and the others were basically like new and maybe worn once or twice. Items being sold were From, Tillys, Nordstrom's, PacSun, other surf shops. The Customer Service was a little strange the Store seems to be operating with very young associates, which is OK but I don't think the Customer Service was Part of the operation. They bought a handful of the clothes from me, all T-shirts. None of the jeans which all had tags on them. Items being sold were and are what is trending with high school, kids, and even young adults. The girl reviewing the tote was literally wearing the same type of clothes that I was selling. ‍ While I was waiting for them to make their purchase, I wandered through the store, and it's kind of shocking the type of clothes that are sold they seem to be very very used and worn, even with stains and sweaters unraveling. The shoe selection was frightening they were used and worn and dirty. But even more shocking was the price they were charging for these types of clothes. Personally, I don't feel that the price they are selling their items for is worth what you're getting even somebody that can't afford a lot of things you even may be able to find cheaper things that are new at other stores on sale. Unfortunately, I would not recommend selling your stuff here and I would recommend checking other stores sale items before you purchase at this store because of the quality and the price. read more

10/10 place. From their amazing staff, incredible selection and always getting things for a great value I can't recommend this place enough. Me and my girlfriend come here all the time and go through the entire store and it's always so amazingly stocked and curated. I've sold here and they're super fair, anything they pass on absolutely makes sense and anything the logic behind what they pay (1/3 of what they sell it for) makes perfect sense. Also better rates than any other store of this nature (believe me, I've gone to them all both to shop and sell) don't believe the bad reviews, the staff is always very kind and professional and if they didn't buy your clothes think about the fact that every time you shop here everything is always seasonally curated, in perfect condition if not new with tags and very fairly priced, if they didn't buy your stuff it might be out of season, in a condition they didn't feel they could sell, or something of this nature. Don't take it personally because I promise the staff and owner just wants to continue to fill this store with incredible clothes at very fair prices. I harass them all the time with questions and they're always awesome. I love this store and hope this place never changes and I look forward to shopping here until the end of time. Rows and rows of crop tops and tiny baby doll dresses Seem to have a lot of quality clothes at do you higher than average consignment prices but not bad. Nice people working there! Just bought a pair of boots from this place for my daughter, the advertised price on a cardboard sign attached to the boots said they were $90, but when they rang me up, they rang me up for $95. When I asked them why the price was different all of the employees looked at me like a deer in headlights, and said that was what the sticker price was. I told them that there was a cardboard sign attached to the boots that said that they were $90 they looked at the sign saw that it said $90 and shrugged their shoulders and said there was nothing they could do. Before you pay make sure this place isn't ripping you off. The sheer fact that they didn't try to correct the situation, by giving me the five dollars that I over paid back based on their own advertisement is absolutely ridiculous, and extremely poor customer service. So I walked in this store on a Friday. Thought it was neat to see that this is a girls consignment store. My daughter liked the stuff and we found a shirt. While we were being checked out, I noticed a sign(located next to the register) stating how as customers we should be respectful and not say anything awful to the employees of the store. Briefly stopped in while walking around. I may have stayed longer if the store looked more inviting I have been to other locations in San Diego so I realize items are used. However, clothes here, seemed more used than the price should be. I have previously taken my daughters clothing to Plato's closet and received peanuts compared to other stores that buy outright. So the markup seemed high here. I found a maxi dress for $22. It definitely looked dingy, it was unraveling from one of the seams and the hem was frayed. I would say you could get that same dress at a thrift store for $7-$9. The racks were overcrowded. Items stuffed in. The shopping experience was not appealing Normally if a place is one star I won't bother to review it. I never want to be unfair based on my personal experience knowing someone else could have a difference experience. So I gave an extra star because I was greeted nicely and employees seemed happy. read more

I love the variety of clothing that they offer for such an amazing price, but I especially love how helpful the employees at this location are. Jenna was especially helpful for me, she answered every question I had, gave me good advice on how to style my clothing, and even helped me to my car as I was having a hard time carrying all of my items. Jenna by far has been my most favorite Plato's closet Temecula employee and is so kind and helpful. The world needs more Jenna's!!! read more

While this store offers a variety of items don't expect to get good customer service. It's unfortunate that the majority of their employees lack courtesy and kindness so much that the store has an actual sign posted that reads - something along the lines: Do not to speak negative about the employees. Absolutely Ridiculous I came in today with 1 small grocery bag of clothes. I Was Told of The New Policy They don't except anything in a grocery bag now. I was told to come back with my own basket to put my clothes in it and then They will be willing to look through my stuff to see if they are interested in buying anything. I asked if they had a basket for me or if I could take the clothes out and neatly put on the counter and I was told no. She told me that there is a 99 cent store down the street if I was interested in purchasing a cheap basket. Mind Blown I will not ever do business here I am not going out of my way to do this. Advice To Management If You Create these policies then you should provide your customers these cheap basket's As A Courtesy! You Should Post this Ridiculous and inconvenient policy on your store website and on the front door of the business. This store takes advantage of ppl selling tons of clothing that they wanna get rid off. My daughter brought 10 big bags of QUALITY clothes, barely used, and got paid for $1 per bag. Each bag holds abt 25 or more pcs of clothing not less. I bet when it all goes into their rack, they won't price it for anything less than $5 a piece. DON'T patronize business like this who takes all in and not give back. It was a mistake that my daughter just gave it all to them and walk away with $10 just to clean out her closet. I feel like this place is either good or bad depending on who's working there. There have been many employees who just look totally stuck up and choose items based on what they personally wear and like. Also I feel like you have to up dress for them to actually buy things from you because it seems they judge you based on what you wear lol. Threw all my stuff very sloppy and unorganized back into the boxes. She was throwing the clothes with not a care in the world or ounce of respect for customers. These negative reviews are so inaccurate. This specific location of Plato's Closet is awesome. They have the cutest finds, superb cleanliness, and affordable prices. You find brands like Brandy, UO, and Free People for EXTREMELY discounted prices, while enjoying a clean, upscale store. Each employee I have encountered has been kind, welcoming, and helpful. I have also sold clothing here on numerous occasions which has been nice because I got money for stuff I would've just donated for free. They made the selling process quick and simple! As a college student, I would highly recommend others to come here. Staying fashionable on a budget! How can someone complain about that?! read more
