Plato's Coney Island was fine for what is was, a little home town diner with decent food and ok prices. The recent problem is the outrageous price gauging for sub par food, and constantly charging prices higher than what's on their menu. This is not "high end restaurant" so having high end prices is a real turn off. Plato's used to not be bad place for a quick breakfast but raising prices and not quality isn't a good business model. read more

This place deserves more stars and more business. I live in Illinois and often long for a good Coney: I like Chicago dogs but NOTHING beats a steamed bun, natural casing hot dog buried in chili and onions. We came here because National Coney Island was closed due to staffing shortages. Plato's had no such issues: our waitress was kind, efficient, attentive and we got a fantastic deal. Mark it down: Tuesdays has a great deal here with a coney and fries for $3.50! We ended up with 4 coneys, an order if fries, a bowl of chili, and an order of onion rings for just over $16!!!!! Back in our old hometown visiting old favorites. Plato's is a very nice Coney Island with a large breakfast selection to choose from. Salads, sandwiches, entrees and the main attraction- Coney Dogs and Loose Burgers. It was a busy Sunday morning. The waitstaff is extremely attentive and our food arrived lightning fast. The Spinach Omelette could have had a little more Feta but the Spinach was super fresh. My wife enjoyed a Loose Burger and a Coney Dog. Warning! Portions are massive. read more

If you are like me and have never heard of Plato's Coney Island, then you need to try it. We were traveling through to visit family and stopped here for lunch on the way. We are very glad we did. This just may be better than Lafayette Coney or National Coney! Yes, Plato's is that good. Seat yourself at a clean booth or table. Pull out the menu and order something good. We had our hearts set on coney dogs and they are delicious. Just happened to be here on a Tuesday and was surprised to take advantage of their Tuesday specials. We tried their coney dogs, fries, onion rings, and a bowl of chili for the three of us. Tons of hot food delivered quickly after ordering. Every thing was hot, fresh, and delicious. After leaving a horrible experience elsewhere, my family and I came over to the always cheerful, always quick Plato's. Platos has been a staple in the Canton Community for years upon years. As a family establishment, they treat you like you're a part of their home. We arrived at 12:31 and we had our food and we were enjoying it all by 12:50pm. That's what we call service. I think above all, the service here is what always brings me back. You all do a fantastic job of taking care of those who come through your doors and I thank you for that. And the fries? Oh my gosh golly goodness! So crispy and wonderful. Y'all are fantastic and you are all so appreciated! Keep it up. Food was mediocre (besides the chicken lemon rice soup), inside is kind of dumpy - especially for Canton - or at least what Canton thinks it is. Service was nothing to write home about. Pita was dry, lettuce was yellow, tuna had sweet pickle in it but it didn't say on the menu and the tuna is chunk light but looked gray... will not come back. The food is all really well cooked and probably the best food I have had in a while. I had French toast with cinnamon and powdered sugar on top. My grandfather had the two jumbo eggs with bacon and pancakes.You walk in and sit down where ever there is a empty booth. The service is very personal and they notice when you walk in. The whole vibe of the place is very rustic but not rusty, if that makes sense. All the prices are reasonable and make sense with inflation and the cost of everything in the end. 6 Cinnamon Swirl French toast with 7 Lincoln sausages.Two Eggs with Toast and Jelly with 3 pancakes. My favorite place to eat Greek food loved the flaming cheese saganaki Opa!! Ordered the Greek salad with extra Feta cheese for starters. I live in Virginia Beach. I have family in Michigan and grew up down the street. Platos on Ford Road is so excellent. From the staff, to the cleanliness and the food is amazing every-time. Plato's Coney Island is a fine place to eat. The staff is attentive and the cooks and chef produce quality, tasty and nourishing food. I enjoy their gyros very much. Portions are generous. They have several healthy choices on their menu that are not only good for you they taste great! There is plenty of parking outside, just be careful when you are navigating you way to the door because the restaurant is on the corner of the strip mall and traffic is fairly constant coming from that direction and heading out. It is reasonably easy to get to the location when coming in off of Lilley Road, north or south. It is very easy to get to when heading east on Ford Road. When heading west I recommend heading south on Lilley first. The place is kept very clean and neat. Prices are reasonable and service is excellent. read more

I have never ordered anything I didn't like. The food is very good! The waitresses are very friendly, welcoming and accommodating. They are hard workers, as are the cooks and anyone else who works here. I absolutely love their Russian Rueben sandwiches, their omelette s, the homemade soups and their salads; especially their taco salad! The business gets very busy at times (especially lunch time), but you'll get waited on. I'm glad Plato's is open for business. I really missed them during the shut down period. I had a friend in town who was jonesing for some local Coney Island action and some lemon rice soup. They're not located where she currently lives so another friend and I gladly agreed to indulge her cravings. We met in the middle in Canton (I coming from Ann Arbor, they from Dearborn) and Plato's seemed like a solid option. I remember having been there years ago and liking it. However, I left a little underwhelmed this time around. First, the staff here is fantastic. They're very nice and helpful. My friends and I were there for quite a while catching up and never once did we feel rushed or not taken care of. So high fives for that. My food, however, was hit or miss. Hits? The cheese sticks here are solid. After a long, stressful day, it was nice to indulge in some fried goodness so the three of us gladly split some. They did not disappoint. Also, the french fries here are great. They have an awesome batter and good crispy crunch. My friends also liked their sandwiches well enough and the lemon rice soup was reportedly pretty good. Unfortunately the fries and cheese sticks were about as good as it got for me. My main dish was the vegetarian pita (grilled peppers, onions, lettuce, tomato, feta cheese, and tzatziki sauce) to which I added the grilled chicken. When our waitress first put it down it was really impressive and I was psyched to dig into it. They did not skimp on the filling. However, that actually made it really difficult to eat. It was so full I couldn't fold it over so I ate it open faced which was kind of tough to do. The veggies and feta were nice but something tasted off about the chicken. I don't know if was the marinade or what but I didn't care for it much. And the tzatziki sauce is supposed to have a nice cucumber and garlic flavor but this basically just tasted like plain yogurt with a hint of cucumber (which was surprising because there WERE chunks of cucumber in there, I just couldn't really taste it). IDK. It was a lot of food but I think I'd take quality over quantity any day. But maybe this isn't a coney island for that. Maybe this is a hot dogs and fries, eggs and hashbrowns kind of place. That's what I remembered having there before with success so maybe I should have stuck with that. 2 out of 3 items were good so I'd come back to try it again, for science. But since my weakest item was my main dish, I don't think I'll be rushing out the door to get there anytime soon. read more

Corned beef hash is the largest portion I've seen anywhere & the cost is $5.25 (full dinner plate...probably three servings of the hash, plus side of bread & two eggs). Other good choices are Greek salad and a waffle with strawberries for something sweet. Update: While the serving sizes & service are still wonderful, I finally went beyond breakfast here & realized that it's hit or miss food-wise. Greek salad is pretty good. Was not a big fan of the french fries (bland & weird texture, not enough salt). The spinach pie wasn't flaky enough & the filling fell flat. I don't know if it was lack of cheese or spices or what, but I kept getting forkfuls of what tasted like simple, frozen spinach warmed up. read more

I stopped in because I had some extra time and I wanted to check out the $2.99 breakfast special (advertised on a banner outside). The staff was friendly and kept my coffee and water full. My order (2 eggs, hash browns, 4 slices of bacon, & wheat toast) came out pretty quickly. The bacon had the right amount of crunch to them without being overcooked. The eggs were done as requested, over medium. The hash browns were a bit on the mushy side, but plentiful. All in all it wasn't bad, just your basic breakfast. The problem came with the bill, for $5.00. Now I know it's not much, but was my coffee $2.00??? I don't know because it wasn't itemized. The price of the special on the menu reads $3.99, which contradicts the banner outside. I was a little put off (I don't like price inconsistencies). Anyway, I paid my bill and went about my day. I'm going to try the special again sometime soon, not because it was great, but because I want to order just water and see what the damage comes out to... read more

Stopped here with my running buddies after our trail run at Newburgh Lake. Wow, talk about no portion control. You don't have to supersize anything because you will get full. Pancakes are the size of a whole plate. Try to eat two. I dare you. I had the veggie burger and that was nice because it came with avocado. It was filling by itself, even though I had fries as well. The woman that waited on us was a total comedienne. This made the first visit enjoyable. She insisted I come back. I'll return it October and will be sure to stop in. I enjoy going to this little diner. The lamb meat is absolutely delicious and comes right off the spit. However on the downside if you go in in order ate your food your wait will be approximately 35 to 45 minutes. The best route to take with this particular restaurant would be to carry out. They usually don't have enough servers for the capacity of the restaurant. However if you are looking for some delicious gyro meat this is the place to go. read more
