It's been many years since I've been to an L. George's Coney Island. I didn't even realize Canton had a location until I drove past it recently. I figured it would be a great opportunity to pay this place a visit for breakfast. I was impressed by how busy they were, especially on a rainy day. My waitress Gabby was super attentive and the staff were so sweet to my baby daughter, who joined me today. All the food was great, and I could tell it was of much better quality than other Coney Island restaurants in the area. It's worth mentioned that the sirloin that I ordered on the side was cooked perfectly and well seasoned. I requested it to be medium and that's exactly what I got. Stopped by to have their cream of mushroom soup. always swore that's all we'd get next time we were there. Outstanding with slivers of mushrooms all thru the soup. order a side grilled pita bread with it. World's largest L Georges our first visit, been a customer 40 years . George and family only own this location and Walled Lake out of 12 locations. My early memories are Southfield and Warren, Joy Road and Evergreen both still going strong. This mega restaurant full house with a dozen employees on the floor, they even have a hostess to seat you. I counted 6 cooks in the kitchen that were slammed with orders. Outstanding service by Brooke, really marvelous food and low prices made this a must try . I had a mega Breakfast Eggs Sausage Patty, Pancakes and Grits Wowed . We shared a Bowl with a chili special spot on Wonderful. She had a Sausage n Cheese Omelet. This is a bustling establishment that is nice and large, open and roomy, with good service. There is a lot of activity going on. the food is continually moving out of the kitchen even during peak times. You can't go wrong with any of the breakfast items. They have a big menu which is typical of most of the local Coney Island joints. The food portions are generous. The coffee is hot. The ics tea is fresh brewed. And you don't have to wait very long from the time you sit down to have someone greet you ready to take your drink order and your meal order. The only disappointment I have to report is with the chicken kebab dinner that I ordered. The portion was very generous. The rice and red sauce was delicious. But the chicken tasted odd. I know it was marinated as described on the menu. It's almost as if the chicken cooked through the acidic reaction of the marinade process. It had a very pronounced briny and salty taste that I found unpleasant. Although the chicken portion was generous, that alone could not compensate for the peculiar and offputting taste of the chicken itself. Sometimes when proteins are marinated, they actually cook if the marinade includes anything acidic like lemon juice. The chicken kebab dinners at Leo's and national Coney Island are far better. This place is always crowded, which is a good thing. It means the food is good and the service is great. Since Covid, they are on reduced hours so get there before 3p. The only bag thing I can say is that I wish their prices were lower. To save a few dollars you can order from the breakfast or lunch specials. Not too many Coney places have specials (reduced meals). Ordered a T-bone steak received a New York strip with a bone and no filet asked for it to be seasoned. It wasn't when I brought this to the attention of the manager or the chef they told me there's nothing that they could do about it even though I ordered a T-bone, I asked for a replacement or to order another steak and they told me I could not have spent close to thousand of dollars over the years eating here. Used to go here regularly and food was good. Stopped a couple of years ago because prices raised exponentially (I know - CoVid) and quality of food really declined as did service. (I'm in a wheelchair and feel as though I'm in their way Not a valued customer) Tried it again today. Sadly, no improvement. Fish was "smelly" and greasy. Bacon, although ample, was tough and dry, as if it had been made in bulk for breakfast rush and left sitting. The mushroom soup, which used to be delicious, was cold and full of flour lumps. $50 seemed a bit much to pay for 3 sub-par sandwiches, 1order fries and two lumpy bowls soup. I met a treasured friend here on Christmas Eve for breakfast. We both got veggie omelettes with a side of turkey sausage patties and hashbrowns. We both loved our omelettes, the hashbrowns needed to be cooked longer and the sausage lacked flavor. Our waitress was awesome at the beginning, but she disappeared and didn't return until we were overdue for our check. Wow! I went here for lunch on a Tuesday and the place was packed! The wait staff was hustling people to seats and we were seated right away. But during our visit there were people waiting for seats. Crazy! I had a difficult time deciding what to order. I decided on the hot turkey sandwich only to find out it was turkey lunchmeat. Blah!! So I had to come up with plan B. After getting some recommendations from our waitress, I decided on a Cajun chicken sandwich. It was really good - tender, juicy, and had a yummy sauce. It was also a large sandwich but it was still expensive at just under $9 - for just a sandwich. Fries were an extra cost. I was plenty full after eating it all, but would have enjoyed a few fries on the side. I would go back here again. ABSOLUTELY a fantastic restaurant for breakfast and lunch. Why you may ask? Food and Service were GREAT ! ! ! Menu had a WIDE range of choices. We had a group of 7 and everyone had something different from the specials to omelettes to oatmeal. All were very good and very filling...(and very reasonable in price). Don't even think you'll be asking for more coffee. Cups were refilled, (sometimes when you didn't even notice). We had Lola for our waitress and she was phenomenal, very personable, accommodating and a nice smile. Don't pass this place by. I know Michigan Ave has a ton of places to choose from but if you need to go out of your way to get here, then do so. read more

This place's service has gone downhill over a span of years. They don't come and take your order even though you come in first. They always go to non under represented minorities to take orders who are sitting next to us . We've had to flag the waitresses down to take our orders after sitting down idle for At least 15 mins while watching NON URMs placing their orders.
