Can't say the same about the restaurant and bar. Restaurant and bar: small, old, dingy, has a musky smelly to it. Food: the pork knuckle, pancakes (think hash browns, not IHOP), sausage platter were great. The pan fried schnitzel, not so much. Way too sweet, way too much sauce. Great place to watch sports and have a few drinks. I recently came here on football sunday, and it was so fun. There are TVs all over the place that are playing most of the games. They also had the soccer games on right before. My friend and I got the pretzel and potato pancakes to split. The pretzel was just average, but the potato pancakes were really good. I also got the huckleberry lemonade, which is my favorite drink there. We were initially sitting at a table and then moved to the bar when it opened up. The bartenders were super friendly, and they kept checking up on us. Will definitely come back for another football sunday. read more

What a fun dinner! We ended up going for the OKtoberfest celebration on a random afternoon and we scored an outdoor table. The giant pretzel was just like the one I had in Munich and it disappeared quickly with the delicious cheese sauce and a grainy honey mustard. We definitely wanted more of it but the toddler ate most of it. We also shared a bratwurst platter and a veal schnitzel with spaetzle. The food was so good! We washed it all down with lots of yummy and delicious beer. I liked the fact that on top of the traditional German beer they had some local beers on tap. The music was live and lots of people were dancing. The atmosphere was welcoming and joyous. The staff was super busy but friendly and helpful. This place has been around for decades and we went there for the 1st time. It was still chilly out so we opted for the full dining room as opposed to just the beer garden side. Took the kids and tried several delicious dishes. The pretzel was to die for. While nothing else particularly stood out it was all very good traditional German fair. The potato pancakes were delicious, the brats or sausages with the different dishes were really good. I mean they were juicy and flavorful. The spatzel sides were great, my daughter's veal schnitzel was good. I had to get a beer to go with the pretzel and the krombucher hell was perfect. Also I actually drank that whole freaking half liter! . Yikes especially since I'm not a beer drinker at all. As in probably haven't had one since I was a college freshman... and yeah I wasn't 21 . That was the late 90's for ya. Great place for authentic beer and pretzel and German food Ofcourse. If you're hankering for a decent pretzel and beer go here. I want to start off with I would have given a 5star rating but the service I received was beyond rude. This was my second visit. But I will not let that experience deter me from more visits. The setup is beautiful. Very old school feel, with a modern twist. Both upstairs and downy are very welcoming. The space is big, and there is a medium size stage in the back that is used for live music. Their menu is big with a lot to offer. The pretzel is one of my favorites. It comes with this delicious cheese dip. You will want to ask for some extra. Their beer menu is large and in charge! They have their own brews, a few local breweries, and some of the norms. But, this visit I was the DD. One of my friends got me a Coke to drink, and when I was finished I went to the bar to get another. When I approached the bar I was greeted by a bartender very arduously. I asked if they did refills, his response was "What do you want" I told him I had a Coke. He walked away and came back with it put it on the counter as said "three dollars". I said "I asked if you did refills" he said "Yea, I refilled it. That's $3". Not sure if I'm wrong, but that rubbed me the wrong way.. Besides that one disgruntled employee, the experience was nice. Sitting at a table or standing at the bar. This place is expansive. It has potential but there are certain operational elements that don't make sense to me. Let me begin with the positives. They have a FULL bar with lots of beer options but they can also do cocktails. Pitchers are available too. If you visit during primetime the bar service gets a little swamped so you'll have to wait for longer than average for a drink. They also have lots of food options, many of which are customizable. They have eveything you'd want from a German Biergarten and more. You might need some time to make your choices because the full menu isn't in one place. You'll have to look around at different postings to get the picture, which is odd and inefficient to me. That brings me to the stuff they could change: 1) After parking there's a $5.oo fee. The entrance window doesn't accept credit cards. So you'll have to enter the establishment and walk its entire length just to get to an ATM machine. 2) As if that's not bad enough, the food stall only accepts cash too. So if you didn't realize this you'd have to go to the ATM... again. That's easily two sets of ATM fees from people everynight. I'm sure the establishment makes a little off of those fees. Bottom Line: The place is a good time. Food, Drink, live music etc. but it's not efficient. You'll burn 30 minutes of bonding time just trying to pay for stuff. The establishment needs to streamline and join the 21st Century with electronic pay options. read more

If you are dining in the main dining room, then I recommend parking on the street because it's a shorter walk. The parking lot is next to the beer garden and the staff do not allow you to cut through to get to the main dining room. We came to celebrate my father-in-law's birthday as he has German roots and always wants to have German food on his birthday. We ordered the Three Potato Pancakes, Giant 10 oz. imported Pretzel from Munich with the warm craft beer cheese on the side, and the Fried Brie & Lingonberries. The potato pancakes were like thin hash browns. The pretzel was big enough to share and had a really good grainy type of honey mustard. The cheese sauce was delicious and was actually served warm! The fried Brie and lingonberries had the perfect balance between sweet and savory. I also liked that it came with a few pieces of sliced fruit. I ordered the Chicken a la Riesling and it was exactly what I wanted. It is pan seared and not fried. The sauce was light yet creamy. You could taste the mushroom in the sauce but it wasn't overpowering. The spatzle was a bit plain but still good nonetheless. I loved that they had string beans as a vegetable option because I'm not a big fan of red cabbage and didn't want to order a salad. What can I say it was October in the fall and we needed to have German Oktoberfest. We thought about the several German restaurants in New York area and Platt. Deutsche Park came to the top of our list and it did not disappoint. We were party of five and we walked out like stuffed turkeys, it was awesome. We ordered the Bavarian sampler, chicken schnitzel, bratwurst sampler, roulade and finally pork sampler. Everything was delivered quick fast accurately hot delicious. We especially enjoyed the slider appetizer the humongous pretzel, potato soup, tossed salad, goulash appetizers. I never realized Platte Deutsche Park was as busy as there were parties were everywhere Halloween costumes were in full bloom. The beer was delicious when you think Oktoberfest and you think German don't ignore Platte Deutsche park absolutely the best. We went to a social affair at the Plattduetche Park Restaurant in Franklin Square, NY on a Thursday night. I had never been there before, so I was looking forward to the typical German style restaurant. I was expecting the servers to be in the traditional German lederhosen. The servers were dressed in dark suits with ties. Very professional service. We arrived to find plenty of parking behind the large open restaurant. The dining room was huge and there was a band, the Jam, playing music. The ceiling were high and there were decorations of military flags and American flags on the tables and on the walls. It was the USMC birthday! There were several tables of appetizers and they had two bars at opposite ends of the room. We found our table and drank some German beers in large glass steins. Excellent beers an appetizers. When we sat down we had a choice of German food (ie., bratwurst with peppers and onions, pork schnitzel), steaks with potatoes and salmon. I had a garden salad with dressing. I ordered the salmon with potatoes and string beans. It was served hot and was delicious. I also tasted the steak which was perfectly cooked. They completed our meal with a Black Forest cake with ice cream. It melted in my mouth. The dining experience was great and the band was excellent. I talked to several people, who frequent the Plattdeutsch Park. They said there is outside seating in the summer and different bands play each week. I can only imagine the experience of people enjoying a good meal with good music outside. I cannot wait to go there again. Everything and everyone were wonderful. If you're driving down Hempstead Tpke. in Franklin Square, you should stop in and experience this restaurant. You will not be disappointed. Good food, good serve and a great overall experience. Worst food I have had in years. I went for a class reunion ( not mine ). I sincerely hope what they serve in the restaurant is better than the absolute pig slop they served in the catering hall. Everything was frozen Costco garbage that they microwaved. This was the worst food I have eaten in years. It is crystal clear that literally no one who works there gives a fuck about the customers. The beer list was a joke and they were sold out of half of their pathetic list. The meats were old, dried up crap. Not one employee (who were nice people) gave a damn about anything, they just had no reason to care. The food was absolutely TERRIBLE. Microwaved garbage, all of it. We ate in the restaurant side, and it was very quiet almost like we had our own private dining room which was nice. The potato pancakes were very good- I got the jagerschnitzel which was just ok. The jager sauce was underwhelming and the meat part was ok. The spaetzel was good, the potato salad good, the asparagus was delish. My partner had the jalapeno wurst , which was great- perfect snap and very tasty. The food seems authentic, and having recently been to Germany I'm going to say it was ok. The jagerschnitzel was not even close to the one I had in Germany, but perhaps different regions make it a bit differently. The service was good. Since we had a birthday we brought a cake- they surprised us with a $13 cake plating fee- seriously? A bit excessive- Overall the atmosphere was pleasant, our waitress was attentive and the food came out in a reasonable time frame. We went over to the biergarten side and it was a lot of fun! There's a band playing however if you sit over by the couches and firepits, you can barely hear it so youre not shouting over everyone. Beers were fantastic- atmosphere was great. They do charge an $8 cover fee which is reasonable. There are people coming around constantly cleaning up, security is visible everywhere. Children of all ages are running about freely - but none of them seemed out of control at any time- and it seems like a safe place for kids to just be kids while their parents enjoy themselves (much like many German biergartens!). The place gets crowded, but not uncomfortably so, you can still order food and beer within a reasonable amount of time, and walk around. I frequent this establishment with parties ranging from 5 to 10 people and am always met with patience and kindness, especially from the security team. Most noteworthy among the security team is Mike-- a kind security representative that goes above and beyond to show fine hospitality to guests, make sure their needs are tended to, and ensures the safety of each guest upon departure around closing time. The bar area is huge with picnic tables outside where bands perform weather permitting. We have only had the beer and some snacks. The Schöfferhofer Grapefruit beer is our favorite, $7 for a nice size glass. For snacks we have had the Giant 10 oz. imported pretzel from Munich, $10 served with sweet and Dusseldorf-style mustard for dipping and the Little Bavarians, $16,eight mini pretzel slider rolls filled with sliced brats, Swiss cheese & bacon. These are our favorites but they have more to offer. Food is always good. The clientele is very mixed from young to old, everyone seems friendly and have a good time, especially when bands are playing and many are dancing, including me. read more

You can't go wrong, whether a hefeweizen, a kolsch, a pils, an Oktoberfest or the tasty Schöfferhofer grapefruit hefe (just don't be a doofus and order a bottle of Bud). The food is solid. This is strictly a review on the venue as a whole and the ballroom downstairs. Recently, my wife and I attended a wedding celebration at Plattduetsche and we were quite impresssed by the amount of space this venue occupied. The food was a different story though. First of all, for anyone driving to Plattduetsche, which is probably just about everyone, parking can be very challenging in the area for a multitude of reasons. The most obvious reason being that the venue can hold quite a lot of people so there can be a lot of patrons during peak times. More surprisingly though is that parking is not allowed on the side streets nearby and only allowed on the side of the street that Plattduetsche occupies. There is also event parking, but it was full on the evening we came for the wedding event. The venue can not only hold indoor events with multiple ballrooms, 1 on the ground floor across from the restaurant/bar and 2 more ballromms downstairs, but there is also a huge outdoor beer garden. When I say huge, I mean it can fit a few hundred people easily. As for the event we attended, it was in one of the ballrooms downstairs. Unfortunately, none of the ballrooms have windows, so there's not much of a view anywhere. You're pretty much stuck staring at walls and people. The ballroom we were situated at was towards the end downstairs, but was a very good size. The party only occupied half of the room, while the other half was practically empty and had no tables or chairs. The food served during the evening was buffet style, but was a big disappointment. There was a strange mix of different cuisines - lasagna, sweet and sour chicken, roasted potatoes, sliced roast pork loin, mixed vegetables and chicken cordon bleu. I'm not sure if this was a menu that was pre-selected by the venue or selected by the bride and groom, but we thought it was an "interesting" hodgepodge. Either way, the food was pedestrian. Most of it lacked flavor and just wasn't very delicious. If I had to pick a favorite, it was probably the lasagna, but 'favorite' is a very loose term. With all the above said, we would still love to come back one day, but to enjoy the outdoor beer garden as it seemed like an awesome place to hang out. Yesterday was my first time actually going to a restaurant for formal dining in over 6 months. I've been reluctant to go to dine in at any restaurant (inside or outside), but hearing great reviews for Plattdeutsche's focus on safety, I decided it was worth venturing out here first. This particular occasion was thanks to Josh G, who invited us to join him for an early dinner. We arrived on a Saturday at 4:30, which during October historically can be an incredibly busy day (thanks of course to the gorgeous weather and Oktoberfest). When we arrived, we were ushered into one back entrance, where an employee asked us COVID-related questions and took individual temperatures. From there we waited for a host to take us to a table. It was clear that social distancing was being enforced. Every outdoor seat had a white box around it, with the instructions indicating we could take off our masks in our individual box but must have a mask on outside that box. Everyone was respecting this rule. Arriving at our table we were provided paper (disposable) menus. Every member of the wait staff was wearing a face mask and face shield. Bussing staff were also wearing gloves. I also noticed that the bathrooms had their own lines to get in with tape on the ground spacing everyone at least 6 feet apart. For this particular meal I ordered sauerbraten and potato pancakes with a Dunkel to drink. Others ordered mini Bavarian sliders, Mac and cheese bites, various schnitzel, and a giant pretzel. The dunkel came in a plastic cup, and we were brought plastic utensils wrapped in individual plastic. Regular entrees were brought out on porcelain plates. As expected, food was as good as ever. On this particular evening, we also had a band begin playing outside at about 6:00, playing traditional German music, really adding to the Oktoberfest vibe. For a moment it made me feel like we were back in pre-COVID times, but the illusion didn't last long. When we left, there was literally a line to get in. Here's where they lose a star for me. By 6:30 when we left the place felt a bit too busy to be safe. Even though the Biergarten is very large, everyone is social distanced and guidelines were being followed, I felt like there were maybe too many people. I was glad we went so early because there were at least 100 people there when we left. Either way, I'm really happy to see my favorite German restaurant thriving and was so glad to get to celebrate Oktoberfest even if just for a short while. read more

Throughout the entire meal, loud drunk partygoers from the catering hall would come in and stand practically on top of our table, yelling, swearing doing shots, and acting obnoxious. We love this place.They have great bands, good food, and the outdoor seating with fire pits is perfect for large groups. This is one of our favorite places to just hang out and hear good music. However, they recently upped the entrance fee from $ 5 to $ 8 per person, even if you are there to have dinner. An additional $8 per person on top of the dinner bill can add up to a lot if you have a large group. If you're there for dinner the entrance fee should be waived.
