Recently came here with my wife to browse around some home workout gear. These stores were my "go to" in my youth. We found plenty of great workout equipment. Mainly smaller stuff we were looking for in particular like dumb-bells. Prices were pretty high. Other common sporting goods can be found here as well but definitely not as popular as it once was. Fantastic customer service. They helped me find cleats, pants, socks, bat, helmet, and cup for my 5 year old son who is starting baseball in a few weeks. Rude over the phone. Call lasted less than a minute. I had a few questions and the guy had no patience. I was almost done but the guy just cuts me off saying "thanks" and hung up. In case you haven't realized, 4 of 10 people report a negative experience and only 1 out of 10 report a positive experience. People still take recommendations into account. In a world of Amazon (in both new and used goods), person to person service is one of the only advantages a brick and mortar store has over Amazon and you failed in that regard. Very rude to me and defensive when I simply asked if the business was minority owned. Asked me "what is the nature of your call and what is your name?" I replied "what does my name matter and what could you possibly need clarity on?" Not sure why the reviews are so bad?? The staff is really helpful. I've been here MANY times now for all my biking needs for me and my family. The guys on the staff have been patient with me in selecting bikes, in sizing things and even putting on training wheels. I also got a groupon for a bike tune up and my bike rides so nicely now. I was quite surprised at several different things here. By going here rather than a regular sporting goods store you will save money. The prices here are obviously cheaper than buying new since much of the stuff here is used. The prices were lower but not as much as I originally though they would. I found better deals on certain things I was pricing on other internet sites. I think I would still rather go to a store like this. I can view everything live in person so I would be willing to spend a bit more for that. The staff here was really great. They were very helpful and friendly. For that alone, I would pay a bit more than I was expecting for used equipment.. I am not sure how often I am going to be in this area to browse but there are many other locations around to find used equipment. Spent just under 200$. The staff, they didn't know their inventory, were generally rude. Steve on the phone, he was awesome and is the reason we came in. When we were in the store: no one could tell us what items were where and when missing tags, just shrugged. Items were everywhere. It is a bargain hunting atmosphere with prices that don't reflect the experience. Most things are made in China anyway. The tennis racquets, if you know what you are looking at, are reasonable. Once max out grew them halfway sheikh the session mind you we sons them back and got new ones for 6$! We have gotten succor gear and now traded in our old bikes for new used ones they LOVE! We were looking generally for a couple of items. The store is a little cramped, but we found a couple of items. It was pretty much a self-service situation because we knew what we wanted and found it. Didn't get to interact with staff very much, but the guy who rang us up was pleasant enough. We left with a curl bar, a knee support band and some gum. I saw a couple of items that I may be interested in getting, the price was pretty much on par with other stores...but they were new items. We went in to have my son's bike repaired, fully expecting to have to drop it off and come back in a few days. We hadn't even made it past the front desk when Zach came up to help us and immediately fixed the brakes and handlebars, all while making conversation with my 11 year old son. I use PIAS frequently as my son is active in various sports. He recently purchased a bat, a Rawlings Raptor for $49.99. The bat developed a serious bend to it after barely a month of usage. This is a warning to not buy this bat there as PIAS will not return or deal with an exchange despite telling them WE WILL be exchanging it and making a more expensive purchase. I've always been able to find what I need (soccer cleats, soccer uniform, indoor soccer shoes, bike locks and a used bike perfect for my 7 year old) easily. I love getting a great deal on items my three kids will grow out of in a year or less. This store has deep and varied inventory and I don't feel the need to go elsewhere because of the reasons the negative reviews give. We bought some Adidas Sambas for $15 ($50 new) that looked almost NEW. After two uses, the sole came off. It wasn't even loose when purchased. Sadly, I was extremely excited to go to this play it again sports. This location is horrible. Met the owner, and as being in a family of business owners- pathetic how she speaks to customers. We made a mistake an read our groupon ticket wrong, but were still contemplating purchasing our items ($120 worth of merchandise) She was rude, spoke down to me like I was an idiot, and kept interrupting me and my husbands quick convo of trying to determine to just grab our gear at the location listed on our Groupon, or bite the bullet and just buy from this location. Afterall we spent over an hour looking for the items we needed, Staff was very unhelpful when we inquired about left handed used gloves. I got the "look in the bin of a 100 gloves yourself" attitude and personally I don't know what I was looking for so guidance was needed. Lost a customer for life. I went into this store today to sell hockey equipment. Upon walking in, I was greeted rudely by an older, mean, outwardly unhappy lady. I believe her to be an owner because I have seen her in there before. She saw I had some goalie equipment in the bin I was carrying and immediately snipped that she would only take goalie equipment on consignment. It wasn't what she said, it was how she said it. I was taken aback she would talk to a customer so hostilely with no provocation. I assured her I had another bin of equipment in the car that was not goalie equipment that I would run and get. She responded by informing me that I was only welcome to come back in if I put a mask on. At this point, I said never mind and told her I would take my business elsewhere. On the way out the door, I respectfully asked her if she researches and if she realizes that there is no science to back up the claim that we should all be masked. She said something inaudible under her breath in a rude way and motioned her hand to me in a dismissive way. I guess she cancelled me and without the education that comes from debate, she is doomed to stay masked forever (literally and figuratively). How sad. I'd rather pay full price at Dicks then shop in that store again. I sincerely hope she uses this feedback as a nudge to realize she is devoid of education and (probably) happiness in her life. I think they just commited an illegal act! I called them and asked if they had kettlebells (It's like a workout dumbell but looks like a cannon ball with a handle on it). They said yes and then I asked the prices. They said a 30 pound kettlebell was $45, this was $10 less than sports authortity. So, I get in my car and arrive there in about 20 minutes. I asked the blonde high school salesperson and she said that she did remember me from the phone and showed me the kettlebell BUT the price was now $90! I asked her about it and she said I guess we sold the $45 one. What a crock. Then she tried to sell me the more expensive one. If this isn't bait and switch I don't know what is. Went in there today to sell some sports equipment and it was not a good experience. When I walked in, the one manager was very rude and quite full of himself. Once I left the bags at the counter I decided to walk around the store. I noticed that most of the items are not as discounted as I thought they would based on the condition. In addition, it took 3 different employees to look through my bags for whatever reason, and at one point stopped and told me that there were some items they couldn't take because of holes in the shoes. I know for a fact that they were not holes in the shoes when the majority of the shoes are brand new or have small markings that can easily be cleaned up. They offered me such a low amount for what they would take, that it wasn't even worth it. Overall, based on the manager, the store being over-priced, and offering a low price for items, this place is not worth selling here. read more

Just had a crappy, and costly, experience at this Play It Again store. We have been customers for over 4 years for my sons football gear and today they blew their last chance at getting me to spend another dime in their store! Yesterday I went in to buy my son a new pair of compression shorts. I had a lengthy conversation with the "kid" behind the counter about the sizing and was a little concerned that the next size up wouldn't fit my son. The packages are marked "no returns" but I thought if they didn't fit I would just exchange them for the larger size. WRONG! I went in today to do just that and the same "kid" at the counter told me I couldn't even exchange them because they are underwear. Now I've purchased lots of underwear in my life and have never had a problem returning or exchanging them. Where would Victoria's Secret be with a stupid ass policy like this?! When I asked why they couldn't even make an exchange, when I've done so at Sports Authority before, he told me that maybe they didn't care about a lawsuit. FOR WHAT? You sell frickin used sports equipment and clothes!!!! Most people I know wash underwear before they wear it. What could they possibly sue you for? I should sue you for the $35 I spent on those compression shorts just for your stupid answer! Went there today to by a bike pump. Purchased it went home. Tried to use it and realized it was missing a piece and did not work properly. Therefore within 20-25 minutes returned it. Thomas the young man at the front whom I purchased it from and another young man noticed it was missing a piece. So Thomas went In the back and a man named Shaun came up. He did not introduce himself to me, basically said "Well you did not buy it in this condition , because we do not sell a products like this.". So I thought to myself, is he serious I just bought this 20 minutes ago, he thinks I scratched it and took off a piece. I of course got defensive because it was only $19.99. I just wanted to exchange it and see if they could show me how it worked because it was not working on my bike. He assumed I ruined it or lost pieces within the 25 minutes I owned it! I was very hurt and upset, he kept on saying, "well we did not sell it like this" and I was thinking, yes you did I JUST bought it! Then he told me I was getting too defensive he said he was just trying to figure out what happened to the bike pump, he said " maybe the pieces fell out in my car," REALLY, Shaun I do not think so. I bought it the way I brought it back to you 20 minutes later! Why would I lie over 20 bucks? I have all there names and plan on calling Steve the store franchise owner tomorrow! Seriously if Shaun would have come out and said, " Hi my name is Shaun how can I help you" this would have been a much better turn out. I did not exchange it, I returned because I am never giving them a dime of my money again . I have bought there in the past, and have been disappointed with their service, but Shaun you really provided me the worst customer service I have ever had anywhere. A word of advice to you Shaun ask the customer what is wrong and see how you can help that is why you are there and have a job.
