I've given these guys a lot of business for many years. However the lady who presumably is one of the owners really lacks manners and doesn't respect customers. I used to always go in hoping one of the other people was there. I'm in the middle of a racket switch after using the same racket for 10 years and have had to demo multiple rackets as the switch to a modern racket takes a lot of understanding of what will work long term. They charge for demos on a daily basis which I was fine to do. The lady told me you're trying to not buy a racket that's why you're using so many demos - how stupid. I don't need to give my business anymore to someone with such a nasty attitude. Tennis warehouse will give you free demos and even deduct shipping costs when you buy a racket from them. I support a lot of great local businesses however a basic modicum of respect and service is essential. read more

I was really excited to began my journey in the competitive tennis field after months of practice and preparation. I came to Tennis Ballerz to buy a professional racquet for my personal use, when this person decided to help me out. I was really respectful and I tried to explain her what I was looking for, but she just decided to ignore me and ask directly for how much time I've been playing tennis and my age. Right after explaining her how long I have been playing, she called me a beginner in a really despective way and told me that there is no difference between the other racquets and that I will not feel the difference specially because I'm a beginner. I thought that this costumer service couldn't get any worst, until she decided to ask me who taught me about all the racquets concepts that I was asking (power, speed and balance racquets). I explained her that I went to the other Tennis Ballerz store located on Darien, IL months ago and that a person explained and helped me to decided between the different type of racquets and options. In a really racist way she referred to the guy who helped me as the "black man who doesn't know about racquets," telling me that there are no more options for me, and that the racquet that she chose for me was the best option(she walked away with her handbag and leave me in the store with other employee). Really disappointed with her rude actitud I decided to leave the store and I found her outside. read more

My son had a high school tennis meet nearby. While playing he broke strings on 2 rackets. We called Curtis, and they not only were able to string a racket, but were able to string both on a busy Saturday morning as a walk-in. They also replaced the overgrip on both rackets! Had a great experience getting a new tennis racquet after not playing for about 10 years. The woman helping me was very knowledgeable about the various racquets, tension, grips, and did everything from sell the racquets and merchandise to string and grip the racquets. They have a hitting lane so you can actually take demo racquets and test them with a ball machine, which is great compared to buying off the shelf and not being able to get the feel of the racquet. The only negative part was that there was only one lady working here, she said she had been working 7 days straight, and the place was busy with people coming in one after another. It normally takes her 20-30 min to string a racquet but she kept getting interrupted so I needed to come back the following day because she was too busy. Somewhat annoying after driving 25 min to get to this location instead of Darien because of the hitting court. Overall, great place to buy a racquet and tennis gear. read more

Having never been here before I called in advance to see if they could string my racket before my league play and they said yes so I told them exactly what time I would arrive as I was leaving my house! I drove 25 minutes to get there and then they said they could not string it when I arrived because they got busy and I explained that I called in advance so this wouldn't happen. They reluctantly said they'd do it next so I left and came back 45 min later (10 min before I was to play) and they hadn't even started it. Not happy. They said I could borrow a demo racket but I don't live around here and they'd be closed when I was done playing so that wouldn't work for me. I was late to my match. The stringers need to follow through and meet deadlines that they promise when they promise them. Definitely won't be returning. read more

I loved the Darien location, but this one may even be better! It's about twice the size, but it's the hitting lane that got me interested! I didn't think I was in the market for a racket, but I tried a Wilson Blade while I was there and am now thinking of switching! Curtis (the owner) and his staff walked me through all the shoes (ASICS, Yonex and Babolat) and told me even more stock (like Nike) was to come. Tennis Ballerz customer service is only good until the sales transaction. Once you make the purchase and if you have any legitimate issues afterwards, the demeanor and service completely changes. The owner assumes people are trying to get something for free if they bring up an issue with strings or rackets even though you may only be looking for their expert opinion. The behavior is deeply condescending and at times racist. I have been here many times, bought a new racket and got it strung, got my old racket strung, loaned out countless rackets to try out and numerous cans of Penns. I am very disappointed because I was not expecting the way owner responded especially as I have been there so many times. Stay away. Save money and go to a place where they know how to treat customers. read more

Same great service and prices, but the new store in Naperville is bigger and features a hitting lane so you can try a racquet before demoing or purchasing! This place is great! We went in here to buy a racket for my daughter and ended up buying one for her and one for my other daughter. The owner, Curtis, was very informative about what we needed for our beginners playing tennis. He educated on serveral rackets, and taught us about the difference in strings. He gave us a great deal on some great rackets. We even got to test drive several rackets on the ball machine. I highly recommended when considering tennis rackets you check this place out. My racquet was getting restrung at Tennis Ballerz and Curtis said to pick it up today - I leave for Orlando tomorrow morning. At 4pm I went there and it wasn't ready. So, he said he would drop it off at my house even though it was in the opposite direction of his house. 7pm he dropped it off. That's service! Stuff happens all the time. I came here after checking out their website, since I needed several racquets restrung. I really liked that there was a huge selection of racquets that you could demo on site with their in store ball machine. Curtis was a huge help. He was able to make recommendations about string type and strung 3 racquets in a little over an hour while I demoed the available racquets. I came in from Tinley Park, so he made sure I was able to come home all squared away. Curtis even put new grips on my racquet for free. Just stopped by this place to drop off my racket to get re-gripped. It was 10 min before closing but the nice young man said he could get it done while I wait if I wanted. He finished wrapping my grip in about 5 minutes at which point I asked where do I pay for it. He told me the first wrap is complimentary. What a pleasant surprise and great job btw on the grip! THE ONLY PLACE TO BUY A TENNIS RACQUET PROPERLY. You're wasting your time at other places, particularly big box sports stores. I visited the Naperville location and Curtis set me up with an array of racquets to try with the ball machine. You don't really know about a racquet until you get a feel by hitting some balls. He was so helpful in explaining the architecture of the racquets and how they are structured. Most of all, you could tell he wanted you to get the right one. I had such a great experience here.
