We have been to play it again in Dedham a few times. Over the weekend we purchased a bat from the Waltham location for $165. The employee advised that the bat was valued over $200 and that $165 was a steal. When we got home, we checked the bat online on the Rawlings website- the same brand new bat was $119. We called the location to let them know of the difference and they advised that there is nothing they can do unless we return the bat entirely since play it again is able to price their own merchandise. read more

Horrible experience at this Play It Again Sports location. Came in last night, the store was empty with two sales associates working. Both would not put down their personal cell phones while we asked for help repeatedly. They didn't have anything to measure the kids' feet, and wouldn't help us figure out if the boots or skis fit. Out of desperation, we bought 4 boots and 2 skis. The next day, we went to the Waltham location and were shocked to discover the boots didn't fit, and the skis we'd been sold had defective bindings, and one pair was on its last legs. I came back to return my items to the store, and this time the owner was there, so I planned to tell him about my experience the night before. Unfortunately, after waiting through 4 customers ahead of me, he rudely told me that he wouldn't do my returns until he'd "cleared everyone out of the store." I had to wait through 4 more customers and their various questions before he would accept my returns. Terrible way to treat a customer! I won't be returning to this location, and I'd advise you to steer clear! read more

We went there to buy hockey skates. The person working reprimanded every kid who walked in there during our 10 minutes there - for touching things, making noise, etc. I really wanted to buy skates and be done, but couldn't stomach the thought of buying from this guy. They had an OK selection (you don't really need more than a few options), but he wasn't at all helpful in fitting. We left and went all the way to the Play It Again Sports in Stoneham, which had an enormous selection and way more knowledgable and friendly staff. Con's: shoddy display and presentation makes finding what you want depressing, underwhelming service (literally told us to just try on different cleats instead of helping pull the ones of the right size). I went in there for youth snowboard gear, after looking around at their inventory it does not seem like there is not a lot geared towards the 4 to 6 age groups. I went to ask the guy at the counter with the goatee if there was extra inventory and he proceeded to yell at my son for touching the snowboards. We apologized and quickly left, this store and the attitude of the owners/employees is why Amazon exists and I will be buying all my son's gear from Amazon shipped to my house next day Prime in nice boxes without a man w/ a goattee yelling at my son. Once my son is done with his gear, it is highly unlikely I will trade in my gear there, I would rather give it away. read more

Great Service! Favorite sports store to go to when we need gear for our son. The staff is helpful and kind. As our son grows he is constantly in need of new gear. From little league cleats, bats, gloves, and socks to pads for skateboarding or even new swim goggles. We love his spot. Feels good to have the option to buy used or new gear. read more

Brand new sports goods store in Waltham. I've shopped and traded at Play It Again Sports for years, both the Dedham and (now closed) Framingham stores. One day I was cleaning out a bunch of my old stuff, stumbled on a ton of sporting equipment I never used and brought it all to Play It Again in Dedham (as I had been told by numerous people how great it is). After a great experience trading things in, I was highly satisfied and reminded myself to come back and do some shopping. While I was in the Waltham area a few weeks ago, I decided to stop into this new store. The Waltham sporting goods store is located on River Street in a large shopping plaza with Shaw's and Ocean State Job Lot. Ample parking lot and easy access in and out from River Street. The manager / owner is very friendly, kind, and keeps the store with a huge inventory (it seems much larger than the other locations I've been to). It seems as the store currently has a much larger new than used section, and that basically everything is fairly priced and better deals on somethings I paid more for weeks ago. Overall, great sporting goods shop for the Waltham / Newton area. I would definitely return and purchase more if I was in the area. 5 stars. read more

DO NOT GO HERE. The manager is unprofessional, unhelpful and frankly, rude. He sold us ski equipment for my 2 young sons last year and both were only able to ski twice as the equipment did not fit. We tried to return the equipment in the same condition (as you can imagine given the lack of skiing all winter), however, the manager refused to buy it back as it was "too worn out". I explained how he, himself, sold us the ski boots and skis IN THIS CONDITION but he didn't care and would not buy back any of it. Another time we bought Lacrosse equipment and tried to return 3 days after the policy (because my son decided not to play the sport) and he would only give us a store credit of over $200.00 rather than full refund. GO TO DEDHAM. They are excellent, the store is in great condition, huge selection and the staff including Mike, the Manager, are fantastic. read more

came here for some ice skates this past weekend, walked in and the owner ignored me, didn't even look up from his phone. the display is completely disorganized, no rhyme or reason, just skates all over. wanted to ask for help but the owner and an employee were arguing behind the counter. the owner was dropping f-bombs at his employee and demeaning him so i felt uncomfortable even going up to ask for help. eventually found a pair of skates on my own and went to the counter to buy them and the owner waited on me but never even looked at me, just kept yelling at his employee about what a "shithole" the back of the store was. i would never come back here, and i wish i had just bought my skates elsewhere than give this idiot my money. read more

I would say bordering on criminal ripoff: - charge a lot - gave me near nothing in aggressive negotiation for my old skis. Should have said no. - skis / boots I bought were kept and "fitted" for extra charge but didn't fit at all once we hit slopes. Literally impossible to make them fit. Ski shop laughed at the fraud. Daughter missed 1 hour of lesson. We had to rent. Horrid people. Horrid help. Dan the manager is a slimey crook. read more

Walked in to pick up some gear, some of the items were dirty and the prices were really high. The salesman was not too friendly. Some of the golf clubs were damaged and still on display for a premium price, really you could pick them up real cheap on craigslist. read more

So I go into the store this morning to look for a 5 iron, and took an old driver in with me to see what I could parlay. I showed the driver to the guy (I assume he is he owner) and he tells me without hesitation, "For you, $15.00". That sounded ok to me - the iron I wanted was $10. Then the guy says, that'll be $25! I gave him a puzzled look and then he realized I wasn't buying the driver.....it had no store tag on it, mind you. Then the guy promptly tells me he couldn't give me anything for the driver!! When I reminded him that he was just going to sell it to me for $15 he copped an attitude and said "I'm not going to argue with you, I won't buy it. He said he only buys high-end gear (my driver was a Wilson Pro Staff, admittedly nothing to write home about) I had said nothing more than the aforementioned. I just told the guy I'm not arguing, but that the taste of the situation didn't suit me so much, and walked away. That's the last that place will see of me. read more

I went in to sell some used sports equipment. The associate greeted me friendly, and took my items. The manager however, did not. He did not say a word to me. He told the associate which items he could buy, and put the ones he couldn't back on the desk. He acted as if I wasn't even there, not only did he not say a word to me, he didn't even look at me. I had other items to sell in my car, but I didn't bother because of this terrible treatment. I would have brought in the rest if the manager showed me some of common decency. read more

Good store. Very knowledgeable staff, really helpful with ideas (and happy to tell us that we were looking for the wrong things, which saved us making a mistake!). Lots and lots of hockey/skate stuff, maybe less of other sports. Quite a lot of new gear as well as pre-owned. read more

Wouldn't recommend- check quality of products before buying. Associate working there was very nice-manager wasn't. Tried to sell me on a product at a reduced price over the phone and when I got there found that it was flat out broken, I couldn't hang around because my daughter was fidgeting and wanted to get down, doesn't walk yet and obviously couldn't crawl around the store. Plus, I wouldn't be in there wanting to buy heavier weights if I could easily carry her 25 pounds in one arm for an extended period. I called once she was in the car and asleep to try and let him know what happened to try and help out his business (no one is going to want to go there if they think they are being cheated). He blamed it on children breaking it, the store being new, a misunderstanding (which I felt I was completely understanding about-things happen). But then he became unnecessarily rude and questioned why I didn't say anything there. I was about to say my daughter wanted to get down and she couldn't crawl around your store, but he interrupted me and said that plenty of people come in with 11 month olds and are fine and that I "shouldn't let my 11 month old interfere with saying something." Good for those people I guess, my daughter takes priority over the junk at the store (but thanks for insulting my parenting skills)? Bottom line- manager is rude and check what you are buying before purchasing. read more

The play it again dedham store gave me the incorrect skates, i called Dan and texted some pics of the skates and Viola the next day he calls me to let me know that he has bought my skates from the dedham store! Brilliant customer service! They know their stuff and are kind and patient.. highly recommend this store and wish them the very best! read more
