Most of the time this place is a great place to get Mexican food. Me and my boyfriend order to-go because we like to eat at home or at the park. Unfortunatly the last time we ordered from here the server apparently didn't hear us ask for it "to-go" or that we wanted just the entrees, no drinks or chips. We ended up having to dine in and got charged for drinks we didn't want. Not the worst thing in the world, but it would have been nice to fully have gotten what we wanted. I will go here, JUST FOR THE MANGO SALSA. I ordered the Fish [Halibut] Tacos (comes with 3 tacos) and they were very delicious. The fish meat was soft and I can tell it was fresh. The fish was very well cooked and the fish taco as a whole packed in lots of flavor. Do yourself a favor and add in some mango salsa into your taco or whatever dish that you order. The Mango Salsa is amazing with anything. Heck, I'd even eat the Mango Salsa by itself! The mango salsa that I'm talking about is a complimentary condiment that's available for customers to grab on the side right next to the cash register. It's available with other condiments as well. After devouring the Halibut Tacos, I finished off my dinner with a piece of Flan. Let me tell you, I've had many flan before, and this Flan is AMAZING. Spend that extra cash so that you can taste this amazing, fluffy, creamy, mouth-watering piece of flan with light whipped cream on it! The only downside to this place is that it is a whole in the wall. Use yelp to get the directions and BE CAREFUL once you get into the parking lot. The parking lot is filllllllled with pot holes. So drive carefully and drive slowly once you enter the parking lot! read more

For being no where near the Mexican boarder the food produced here is wonderful, and trust me I used to live minutes from the boarder years back. This is a comparable quality I have been looking for since living up here. Large hearty portions and EXCELLENT staff that makes sure you have everything you need. What else can I say....nice selection of drinks I always get an horchata (flavored cinnamon rice water) to wash down the meal, which something worth trying at least once in a life time, they have authentic mexican bottled sodas and regular fountain style as well. Thanks fellow Yelpers for helping us find this hole in the wall! There were four of us on vacation and we were looking for a break from seafood. We stopped in for a late lunch. We are the following and all LOVED our meals: 1/2 order of carne asada quesadillas and chicken quesadillas: Flavorful and big. Taco al pastor: So much flavor in such a simple taco! Just meat / pineapple and soft shell but wow - so good. I only got this because a "regular" that was sitting there said I had to. And I'm glad I did! Chimichanga: Gigantic and delicious. Tostada with fries: the fries were crispy and delicious! Who knew that we would find such amazing fries at a Mexican place? They have a serve yourself salsa bar with several varieties, sour cream, lemons and more. Service was fast and friendly, prices were good vs quantity of food received. Two of us brought home doggie bags. I would highly recommend stopping in! read more

I won't be going back. Why is the staff eating on the bar top while working? This is a health code violation. Eating chips too! Then your food gets picked up? Cross contamination. Gross. Big yummy mexican burritos, not tex-mex! You order at the counter and then they give you a number and bring and clear the food. There are many options for both meat eaters and vegetarians. We had the spinach burrito and burrito vaquero, both large and yummy. You get a basket of chips for the table and there is a nice salsa bar with particularly good pico. There is also a good selection of fountain and bottle drinks as well as brewed tea and horchata. Some of the best Mexican I have had in Alaska. read more

Cute place in a strip center. You order at the counter and then they deliver your food. They have bottled and beer on tap. Great salsa bar and all are good. Staff was efficient and nice. Ordered the chipotle chicken (and the seafood chipotle) as very few Mexican places do this but it is usually a good choice. Both dishes were in a sauce that was 80% nacho cheese sauce and 20% chipotle. Not my choice for a chipotle sauce, but maybe an Alaskan thing. Chicken and seafood were very good (sans the nacho sauce) we used the salsa bar Chipotle sauce to help it out. read more

This plate of food was absolutely tasteless .. the Spanish rice was horrible. My Chile relleno was greasy and I had made better at home the day before. Don't waste your money. We are from Texas, the Mexican food capital. After saying that, our expectations were not that high. Our son is stationed at Elmendorf AFB in Anchorage. He was really wanting texmex, so after reading the reviews we thought we would try it. Suprizingly the food was really good. The freshness and quality of the ingredients was amazing. The salsa bar was well liked. The queso was thicker than our liking but tasty. The burritos were huge and stuffed with the right proportions of meats, cheeses, and want not. The good: the salsa, the service was great and the place is clean. The not so good: food was expensive and very average. I had a veggie tostada which I did not care for; it had a lot of onions, which were not listed in the ingredients on the menu. If we go again, I would try something else. My wife had beef fajitas, which were in a sea of refried beans. She recommends getting it without beans and you would probably be good. The salsa is very good. We would pass on the fried cream too. Excellent and fairly priced Mexican food. I had a combo plate--chicken burrito and a tamale--without rice and beans for $8. What a deal. A lot of food too. I added a side of guac for $4. Very tasty! And a "wine-arita" made with white wine, which I didn't like so much (I prefer tequila, but the liquor license is wine and beer only I think). Don't bother unless you're really a white wine fan. I absolutely recommend this place! Oh and once you find yourself a table, you go up to the counter and place your own order. Don't wait for a waiter because you won't see one. read more

I absolutely love this place! I usually order the shrimp Chipolte which is heavenly. The sauce is to die for. Large shrimp sautéed with mushrooms and onions. Served with tortillas, rice and beans. This was good food. Kind of weird when you walk in. They ask if you want a menu and seat you. Then if you don't realize it, you can sit there for a period of time. Then they hopefully come and tell you that you have to go order at the counter. I observed a couple sitting there waiting to be served. A little disconnected. read more

There was a group of us (6) and the only negative was not being able to get a table that fit all of us...we were kind of squished at a tiny booth even though a table came available before we had our food. Can't give anything above a 1-Star tonight. My dinner came complete including one used bloody bandaid on the side. They took it back and said they remade it.... maybe they did, maybe they didn't, no way to know for sure. The plate came back messy and in four minutes flat.... hummm. So the waitress, who was very apologetic did offer us a parade coupon for "10% off our next visit. Really, 10% off the next time. The salsa bar is nice. read more
