I came here twice within two days and both times they didn't disappoint! The only issue I noticed is that some of the blueberries didn't feel as fresh as they could have. Some were squishy/smushed so they felt a bit old. Other than that, the quality and quantity were both great at this location. I found out there were multiple bases that they use per bowl and they allowed me to sample one of each. I thought this was GREAT for business. I ended up ordering the Tide-Banana Bowl. The fruit is definitely FRESH! The Gronola bar is good as well. I couldn't seem to get past the entire combination of mixed foods together in the banana base. My go-to 'fruit smoothie bowls' eatery has been Pure Raw Juice- however I discovered Playa Bowls from a Facebook promo offering BOGO & figured why not try somewhere new. The Pros: They offer a huge variety of pre-created bowl combinations beyond their competitors. There are way more ingredients to select from between the bases and toppings. I also really appreciate how easy they make it to customize a bowl beyond the pre-created selection (i.e I was able to easily request combining base flavors, selecting add-ons, and swapping out ingredients). This made it so much easier to select & enjoy my unique bowl. All the ingredients were fresh: juicy fruit, crispy granola, crunchy toppings. And everything was made right when I ordered to make it even fresher! The Cons: At $11 a bowl, the overall product was smaller than I expected. 10/29/22 I was upsettt when I saw them taking the place they used to be at down, but never knew they just switched locations! They moved to the side where target is next to the papa johns. My bowl was good the only thing was there wasn't much flavor in the acai and it was lowkey stiff. I asked for the nutella bowl and replaced the coconut flakes with chia seeds, and i also added honey on top. This was a delightful little find. Just off the campus of University of Maryland right on route one is Playa Bowls. They have an energetic and friendly staff that builds your nutritious and delicious fruit bowl while you wait. The menu has such variety that it will take a long time to explore. Add in the fact that the two that I got were so good that I would want them again and exploration is going to take even longer. Speaking of prices Playa Bowls prices seem pretty similar to one of my favorite smoothie chains, South Block so it is not unreasonable. A little pricey for daily use but a nice treat after a week of classes. I have been coming to this place for yearssss since they've opened and I love it! Me and my friend used to come religiously every week it's so good!!! But lately the quality is running down. The last two times I've been I had a bad experience. First they served me old soggy fruit on top of my bowl the strawberries were literally inedible. The next time I went a few days ago I get the same thing I always do a half and half bowl and the pitaya was literally juice!!! The mango side was frozen but the other part was just melted as soon as I got it. I sat outside to eat right by the shop so there was no way it melted that fast. I usually take it home and eat it and it stays frozen. On top of that I told them no coconuts and both times they put it on there I told them I have a coconut allergy the first time and they remade the bowl but the second time I just picked them off. I hate that this place is becoming ran down because it's really good. But I can't keep spending $15 on a bowl of fruit and the quality of it isn't up to par. read more

Oh my! This is by far the best ACAI bowl I've had in the area. Everything was good and fresh. I ordered the Tropical Acai and you couldn't tell me they didn't have those pineapples shipped from Hawaii. It was so good and plentiful I can't wait to go back. I drove about 30 minutes to get to this location and I will gladly make the drive again. My only wish is that they open more locations maybe in the Bowie/Upper Marlboro area.
