OUTSTANDING - THE BEST PHARMACY BY FAR! Playa Pharmacy is magnificent. I am always extremely appreciative of all of their hard work and dedication. The entire staff is magnificent -- completely willing to help, patiently -- even when they have numerous patients calling or waiting in line. Unlike other experiences with pharmacies -- they have NEVER hung up on me or been rude. They answer the phones cheerfully and resolve any questions logically. Always! Recently, I had a medication that went unfilled due to another scenario completely unrelated to Playa Pharmacy. Literally, the moment the situation became evident -- the staff worked diligently to contact my new doctor and see to it that the medication was ready ASAP. This was a life saver for me -- and very appreciated. The staff at Playa Pharmacy are always checking -- and making sure that everything I am supposed to take is available on time. They are also quick to alert me of any potential discrepancies when they see two or more medications that might have a new red flag. Overall good experience with this local pharmacy! Good customer service and you don't have to talk to an automated machine when you call. Only reason I am not giving 5 stars is because the first time I picked up a medication here they got the dosage wrong and missed the decimal point my doctor included in the request which is a bit scary if I hadn't have been paying attention to the prescription bottle they gave me I would have had an astronomically higher dosage than I normally take. Despite that I am still coming back as everyone makes mistakes and they apologized. We usually get our immunizations here. There is a very recent change in ownership. The new owners are very polite and eager to please the customer, but you may wish to call ahead or wait until all systems are fully operational. Received several phone calls in order to complete my order (this was good ) The person I spoke with, while very friendly and out of breath, quoted me the incorrect price, and didn't ask for my address. Situation: I had a prescription medicine (syrup) I picked up at CVS and the commercial formula they dispensed had just way too many grams of sugar to take 4 times a day. Crazy how over-sweetened. Solution: Appreciate CVS because they referred me to the pharmacist (Joe) at Playa Pharmcy who can compound medicine. And mentioned that he really knew his craft. (btw, I looked it up and compounding medicine refers to the process of creating customized meds tailored to the specific needs of an individual patient. Allergen-friendly formulations like no gluten/dyes/preservatives. Alternative forms of a medicine, custom doses, less sugar... that kind of thing) Well, Joe researched it and said no problem. I re-sent the prescription, and picked it up next day. No wait. Flavored and sweetened lightly... with the flavor of my choosing. Amazing! I have been going to playa pharmacy for over 25 years. They no longer handle workers comp prescriptions. So just in case you need your medicine they have new owners and a new software that doesn't take w/c. They won't tell you , you need to call and find out if your medicine was filled then you will be told they can no longer serve you. Just an fyi for anyone that ever used them in the past. I recently transferred my prescriptions to this pharmacy from CVS because I wanted to support our local small businesses. My interactions have been warm and helpful with all of them. My neighbors recommended them, and they were right. I'm disappointed I didn't do it sooner. I recently got the current vaccines that I needed from them. They were supportive and comforting when I received them. My son recently needed a certain ADHD medication that we couldn't find, and they were able to locate it. Don't come here for vaccinations. Staff was rude, wasted my time, and basically dismissed me from getting vaxxed because I didn't *look* immunocompromised. I'm on a regimen of immunosuppressants for a health condition that isn't itself considered immunosuppressed. I checked that I qualified for a booster online and scheduled an appointment per my doctor's suggestion since I'm traveling soon and have spent the past few months very sick from the medications I'm on. The staff asked me repeatedly how I'm immunocompromised and condescendingly quizzed me on my own condition, then made me wait 10 minutes before coming out and telling me that my condition isn't considered immunocompromised, which is correct the DRUGS I'm on are immunosuppressive but they couldn't seem to remember what my condition was, what pills I'm on, and I had to repeat myself constantly, only for them to tell me no. I now have to go get another appointment elsewhere, at a clinic where I'll be treated like an actual person. read more

OK simply the best pharmacy outside of Westchester pharmacy. My insurance changed in Westchester pharmacy did not take my new insurance. So I just told my doctor to send it to the CVS right near me. What a mistake! The pharmacist seems to be good and know what they're doing but the counter help they have are ignorant, lazy, and atrocious. I had to go in during Covid four times to pick up one prescription because the person at the register could not find my prescription that had been sitting there for four days. She was so lazy to even look under my maiden name that I wanted to jump across the counter and strangle her. At my age I don't need to be in CVS four times for one prescription during these critical times. I found that Playa pharmacy excepted my insurance and immediately moved over. They are exactly what we need in a neighborhood pharmacy. They are helpful, and want to do a good job. If you live in Westchester or Playa I suggest you see if they take your insurance. Such a nice place to shop shop. They have all kinds of other items in the pharmacy. No need to run around to several stores. read more

First experience was amazing! They do compound prescriptions for my doctor's Fertilty medications. I was so relieved to find an alternative to MDR Pharmacy in Westwood (expensive & out of the way). My fertility doctor called in the prescription for me while I waited. She then handed the phone to me for payment. I spoke to Walter who was efficient, polite & handle business for us. Within 3 hours, the prescription was delivered to my front door! Each compound prescription was $20 with no insurance! You really can't beat that! Excited to have these guys nearby. read more

For better or worse... small-town feeling... like you are dealing with actual thinking, caring individuals which means that they may not always achieve conveyor-belt efficiency but sometimes will be able to give service way above and beyond a chain. These helped ready me for what to expect after and assisted my recovery. This pharmacy has a lovely, neighborhood friendliness and atmosphere to it. The staff and customers seem to have built up an understanding and rapport over repeated experiences. I only came here once regarding vaccination. Earlier, my appointment was canceled last-minute here since it ran out of supply, and I greatly appreciated the email I received giving me my options. The follow-up answer was also helpful. This little spot is an absolute gem! Not only do they pack their shelves with a ton of healthy natural alternative snacks and groceries to most mini market junk food shelves but they're also a pharmacy where it seems east meets western medicine. Lots of homeopathic Ayurvedic oils and medicines, beautiful gift cards, and a really friendly staff. I was there yesterday and while I was waiting there was a young woman getting her Covid vaccine. She seemed very nervous and kind of shook. The pharmacist (a young man with shoulder length hair) administering her shot took notice and offered her some nurturing words to help ease her anxiety. It wasn't medical advice, it was merely a gesture from one soul to another. It was one of the warmest things I've ever witnessed in a pharmacy which for the most part have seem to become sterile over stocked super stores. From now on it's a neighborhood pharmacy for me. Hello, my name is Melissa V. And I am an essential worker.... I have been working through this pandemic and haven't stopped. I have honestly been worried about having this virus and potentially being an asymptomatic carrier of Covid 19. I found out about this local pharmacy and they had the Covid antibody testing. I was really excited because I didn't have to wait because I was looking at other test online but here at Playa I could take my test and get the results of my Covid antibody the same day within 10 minutes.... When I got there I was greeted by Hugo. He is so amazing so personable and just really helpful getting me all ready for Joe. Now Joe the pharmacist is so pleasant and very informative. He explained the test to me what to expect and I received my results all within 10 minutes. Again which is great because I didn't have to login somewhere to get my results or mail them or whatever. My only regret at having changed Medicare D (drug plan) providers - which I had to do because the formulary changed - is that Playa Pharmacy is no longer a preferred provider. I've been to my share of pharmacies, on both coasts. Playa is the very, very, very best one I've ever been to. It's a pretty small place, so don't go there for groceries or everything under the sun that you find at CVS, but they have cool stuff I haven't seen anywhere else.
