I was treated to lunch here for a late Mother's Day treat from my sons. I had the grilled fish tacos with rice. They did not skimp on the fish, although it was a little dry. Was able to take most home. The churros were to die for! Old Fashioned cocktail was very little for price, but house margarita did not disappoint. Came on a Wednesday night and they happened to have a mariachi band playing which was cool. Table and floor was a bit sticky. They had complimentary chips and salsa and white sauce if you asked. Both sauces were ok. I ordered the birria taco ($20) and it came out in 10 minutes. A bit below average taste wise. The meat was tender but could be more flavorful. The consommé was also just meh. Service was quick, but nothing special. Overall I was disappointed in the overall flavor of the food especially since this place is higher compared to other restaurants. This by far the best plaza around town. I'm not sure what they do differently here but the quality of food is much better than another other plazas. They even use robots as bus boys (very entertaining for young children) the decor is very green and welcoming. Man oh man! The Burria Ramen here is amazzzziinggg!!! I honestly could eat that every day! I went here for a friend's birthday celebration and they really impressed us! Our server was nice enough but the food was seriously lacking, not to mention the restaurant was just NOISY (I expected it would be. to a degree--it was Friday after all). The fundido was a DUD-dido, the salsa came straight from the jar, the beans runny and gross. and we never got the sour cream we asked for three times. It was all around a disappointing meal for a high price point Eh, maybe it was me BUT for the fact that with a few hours of the meal we were both green and fighting to see who could race to the toilet. Pros: Excellent service Nice decor The best $5 margarita I've ever had Yummy food Cons: price- over $50 for two meals and a margarita before tip. My husband and I have lived near a Plaza Azteca nearly all our lives and never been to one. We wanted Mexican and were planning to go our favorite neighborhood Los Ponchos, but I'd mentioned the PA I'd seen on the hill down by Dennys. He looked it up to the the menu and closing time and saw that there's one about 3 minutes from our house that we'd never even seen. It's behind the shopping strip on W Broad and you won't see it unless you drive back there. We decided to try and we are glad we did. Someone had a birthday while we were there and it was honestly fun. Everyone in the restaurant joined in clapping. Our server was funny and very good at customer service. The inside was nicely decorated for Christmas and there was lots of fake greenery that did make it feel homey and comfortable. A lot of places don't clean their decorations well, but Plaza Azteca was very clean. The food was great and we had a bit leftover to bring home. I rarely get a drink, alcoholic or otherwise, other that water because, frankly, I am too cheap. But they had a $5 margarita and I tried it. It was the best "cheap" margarita I've ever had, and it comes very close to beating an expensive top shelf marg I had years ago. I will absolutely order this every time I come. And we WILL be back soon. I got it frozen with a salted rim but you can get it regular too. We didn't order anything with a special request and everything came out perfectly. I think there was cilantro in mine despite it not stating that in the menu. I have a deep aversion to cilantro so there were a few bites that tasted soapy . I think it might have been in the pico. Worth asking if you also dislike it. Overall, we had a great time and enjoyed it all very much and will be back; just less often than we'd like to because of the prices. read more

My husband I came here for dinner on Cinco de Mayo and we got seated right away. There was some kind of party going on outside with a DJ so it was loud but good time. Our server was nice and attentive. I did the tacos de carne asada and my husband did the enchiladas chipotle. The food was delicious! Here at West Chester Commons restaurant. They updated the interior and it's gorgeous! I'm not a big spice fan and usually play it safe but I tried the new Tiger Prawn Tacos with mango habanero sauce. it was incredible! Not hot at all! Love the mango margaritas, the table side guac n table side ceviche. I've eaten the birria tacos every time I come n they are sooooo good! I love it here. I'm bilingual so I enjoy the Spanish n English mix I'm able to have there with the staff. The staff is super considerate n friendly. Some friends visited this weekend and are leaving today so we got lunch before they had to leave. Since one friend is AGGRESSIVELY allergic to seafood and it was this place or sushi, I'm glad we came here. There was only really one other large party when we got there who were apparently celebrating a birthday so it was fun to see them singing while the guy wore a sombrero. They did take the sombrero back, and I'm not sure the cleaning practices, but I'm going to assume it gets cleaned. Our server Jose was great, from waiting for the fourth member of our group to join us to replacing the drink that had a crack in one of the glasses, he was quick but not pushy. Their menu is the typical Mexican menu, but they do offer tableside guacamole which was great! They have a large margarita menu too, including being able to make skinny margs! Plaza Azteca has decent Mexican food. Good queso for appetizers and the carnitas is really good for any dinner entree. A hidden gem is the Oaxaca bowl - It's at the bottom of the back of the menu. Consider this one- one of the most unique and my favorite dish here. Full bar and good mixed drinks. Service is good. Usually prompt and friendly. They do have a robot that delivers food , at least at the Short Pump location, which I don't like- it's really loud and a step away from personal service but might be fun for kids. Stopped here for a late lunch on a Saturday and dined outside because the weather was nice. The restaurant wasn't too busy so we didn't have to wait long at all for our food to come out. The Al pastor nachos were my favorite thing I ate that day. And normally I don't get an appetizer at Mexican restaurants because of the free chips and salsa. But these nachos were worth it. It was the perfect combination of sweet and savory. All of the food we had was delicious and my only 2 complaints were that the tostones we had were too hard and I wish the tamale sauce was different. Our total was around $90 which is more expensive than some smaller Mexican restaurants but our server was great and I would definitely finish this location again if I was in the area. read more

Ehhh it's fine. It's just expensive. The food is about the same you'd find at other local Mexican restaurants but it seems to be 50% more expensive. I don't recommend coming here or ordering takeout. The best Mexican in Short Pump is Los Ponchos, it's cheaper and the food is better. Head a mile down the road and go there instead, you won't regret it! They offer indoor or outdoor seating. The outdoor seating is limited at the Short Pump location. Masks were worn by the staff. Sanitizer is available upon entering. Masks are required by patrons. Our waiter was friendly. We received our food and drinks timely. Service was nice. The waiter checked on us periodically to make sure we were okay and to see if we needed anything.
