The odd thing I found in my food. Maybe shrimp
    Gale B.

Went here the other day. This place had been my go to spot for anything from birthdays to celebrations. So I am saddened to have to write this negative review. I was served what looked like shrimp in my food. As someone who is highly allergic I was very concerned. What's more is that the waitress and manager didn't handle this well at all. The manager couldn't even be bothered to come to our table and the waitress neglected our table after the incident. The health department has been notified. Please be careful if you dine here still. I'm never coming back. Ever.

Plaza Azteca brings the vibes and is an exciting place to dine. The staff is very friendly! They even have a robot that delivers your food and mariachi music that plays along with it. The menu is pretty large, I would say slightly overwhelming. I went too simple and got shrimp tacos with fish taco toppings (spicy aloli & cabbage) I thought they overall lacked flavor and excitment. The complimentary chips and and salsa and margaritas were delicious. Next time I will be getting the table side guacamole! Overall the food had their ups and downs and the drinks were pretty expensive but I could see myself giving this place another shot during happy hour.

Loved it! Sat at the bar on my bday and had a fabulous meal!! Also loved the Spicy Mamacita drink, perfect amount of spice without being undrinkable! The elote is exceptional, and the burrito with chicken and steak!!!! Can't wait to visit again!

They were packed the night before Valentine's Day but they sat us very quick. Got a drink at the bar while we waited. Tableside guac is a must, everything we tried was awesome, and service was great. I'm coming back soon.

I loved the DoorDash delivery of Texas fajitas. It tasted fantastic. There were chicken, steak and shrimp with vegetables peppers and onions. The shrimp were huge. Alongside I got a plate of rice, beans, sour cream, tomatoes. I loved it, it tasted fantastic and now I have enough leftovers for 3 days

The food was good but I can't give a score higher than 3 stars because the service was lacking. I was just there this past Friday and our waitress wasn't very kind to one of our guests and basically rushed our group from the table. On top of that she rarely checked on us and had left empty plates and chips and salsa on the table for a while. Despite the lack in service, the food was tasty. I tried the sweet plantains with sour cream and queso fresco and enjoyed that (hard to go wrong with that). I also tried the guac and chips and birria tacos and enjoyed those as well. The margarita I had was very fruity and strong in melon flavor which I didn't love but it was decorated nicely with fruits. I will say that I was shocked to learn that this restaurant doesn't sell pitchers of margaritas. I think for big parties that would be a better option than paying $20 for each drink as you're likely not willing to order more than 1-2. What I will say that I thought was great is that they allowed everyone to get separate checks. As a party of 7 it made the process faster and seamless. I'd say this location is nice for a group hangout but don't expect much as far as service as it was lacking.

Food and drinks were PHENOMENAL! Service was kind of decent. They were fast but not as friendly. The ambiance was cool. A little loud but it seems like a fun spot to be if you want good drinks. I'm still salivating thinking about their birrias. The empanadas were good too but the meat filling was lacking. Had more dough than the meat itself. Anyway, would be returning.

Update: visited a second time with my bf and the food and our server Christian was PHENOMENAL. He recommended the Mangonada marg and it was amazing. The hot queso came out sizzling it was sooo good. My bf was beyond impressed. He loved his birria taco and my chimichangas were 9/10. Only complaint was the hostesses aren't overly welcoming but no ethnic I can't wait for return :)

    Fajitas Vera Cruz

My wife and I have been going to Plaza Azteca since it's opening. The food quality is excellent and very consistent. At our last visit I had the fajitas Vera Cruz. Pics below. The service has always been good, and they have a robot to deliver the food. Kids seem to really like it! I don't think I have had a meal from there that I would not order again

Service was average, prices a little high but the presentation and flavors were enjoyable. We would come again on our way to the beach but wouldn't drive out of our way to come eat. Super cute, well decorated, and not crazy loud. We had a tia rosa (cocktail), piña colada, salmon bowl, and al la carte chicken enchilada with queso blanco sauce, finishing with a tres leches cake slice. Tia rosa was beautifully presented, full bodied with great flavor. Piña Colada was disappointing because it was chunky, icy, and hard to drink through a straw which is always kind of annoying. Salmon bowl was a good sized portion although it was a little on the salty side (to be expected with teriyaki) and could use a little more texture or crunch so overall 8/10. Enchilada had a fresh tortilla, good amount of meat, and great flavor in the queso blanco 9/10 just needed a lime to be perfect. Tres Leches cake had great portion size, flavor and presentation with some strawberry in the middle layer. Just the right amount of moisture not too soggy. Probably top 3 I've ever had, definitely one of the best for the area. Overall enjoyable experience and happy to see some effort in presentation and class coming to the area. Probably will eventually be on a TikTok reel so check it out while it's still new

This place is great!! Loud cultural music, friendly and fast service, delicious food. Decor is very cool, Lots of agave and flowers. The chips and salsa came quick, we really enjoyed the smoky salsa that just a little kick to it. The food came out so fast, we were barely in the restaurant 15 minutes when dinner was delivered to our table. I really enjoyed my fajitas, but would probably try something else next time.

My family took me out to celebrate my birthday and I'll tell you the service was terrible like the wait time for the food. When the food arrived it was cold and not up to expectations. We ask for extra napkins, drinks etc. and was never brought. When the waitress finally came back she ask was there anything else wanted at the table. My response was "The napkins and the drinks which was ask for". I just said no and please bring the check. Suggestion: Better training with the staff so they're not to wonder aimlessly without checking on the customers whom they have before addressing new customers. Forever Lost customer

It's cozy inside with ornate tables which seem to be hand carved and painted in a vibrant traditional style-definitely awakens your senses and mood. So the food...pretty damn good! I had perfectly seasoned steak fajitas served on a sizzling plate of peppers and onions. It came with rice, salad, shredded cheese, and of course soft tortillas on a separate plate. It also comes with sour cream and guacamole but I passed on those and decided to use the green salsa they provided at the table, which had a perfect flavor balance of savory and spicy. The portion sizes are unbelievable! My fajita plate was huge, I had plenty of leftovers to take home. My husband had a Torta Niurca sandwich which was massive. He loved it and was also unable to finish it! The service was fast and friendly. This is the second I've had lunch here. The first time I came I had chicken enchiladas which was just okay. Maybe that was an off day or maybe there are just certain menu items they have that they can knock out of the park. With the steak fajitas, they certainly did!

We stopped in on a Tuesday evening and were seated right away. It wasn't busy when we arrived, and while it did start to fill up, there was never a wait. The restaurant itself was clean and casual, and they do serve alcohol (it looked like they have happy hour specials as well, though we didn't try any). They brought out complimentary chips and salsa to start, with a note on the menu that a second basket comes with a charge. One thing to be aware of: the chips are not made in a dedicated fryer, so they aren't gluten-free. Service was a bit of a mixed experience. There was definitely a language barrier, which made communication difficult at times--our questions often had to go through multiple staff members before we got an answer. Food came out pretty quickly, which we appreciated since we were in a rush. That said, there were some hits and misses. I ordered tacos al pastor but was given steak tacos instead. I tried to explain the mix-up, but it wasn't resolved, and due to time, I just ate them. Unfortunately, the steak was overcooked and tough, and the tacos themselves were very basic--just meat on a corn tortilla, with extras like sour cream costing more. On the plus side, my nephew really enjoyed his kids' cheese quesadilla and fries (the fries looked crispy and well-made). Someone in our group liked the chorizo quesadilla, and another had the birria tacos and thought they were just okay--nothing standout, especially compared to other places. Pricing felt a bit high for the portion size and overall quality. There is a small parking lot, but we didn't have trouble finding a spot, which is always a plus. Overall, Casa Mezcal was convenient and quick, but between the order mix-up, inconsistent food quality, and communication challenges, it didn't fully hit the mark for us. I'd consider giving it another try if I were in the area, but with adjusted expectations.

The salsa was the first thing tipping me off that we'd stumbled upon was likely a local gem. It's not so thick that I think it's a tomato paste concoction. Tastes like real home made from scratch salsa. Not too much but a very nice kick to it. Peppery, oniony, refreshing punch of lime. The queso hit everything I wanted and wasn't just plain cheese nor was it gritty or plastic-y. Tasted exactly like I expected! Smoky peppers did a lot for flavor here. I was sad not finding my regular burrito from this kinda of establishment. A simple beef burrito smothered in a red sauce of some variety with rice and beans. I asked the server if there was a smothered burrito and he informed me that the combo deal was what I was looking for. In which I got two burritos, rice and beans. The red sauce that my two burritos came smothered in was rich, tangy, oniony and was still nicely acidic from the tomato. You can really tell they taste their food. Burrito Loco that my accomplice ate was also really good. Maybe a little more salt on the veg but that's coming from someone notorious for over salting fries at work. I love salty food, so that's just a personal taste thing. The service was amazing. It all came together when I went into the bathroom, though. It was so clean that it snapped the whole picture together of why this place is so surprisingly good. It's staff genuinely cares about their place of work. Kitchen and front of house alike, everything here was impeccable. You can tell there are people here invested in their workplace. Highly recommend stopping in or frequenting if possible. They had a fun looking drink menu, I just forgot to order my agua fresca Jamaica, so I'm sorry to say I can't report on that.

So I opted not to go because I wanted to experience their atmosphere, customer service and food on a normal day of operation. Fast forward to the evening after Cinco de Mayo. I came in and I was kindly greeted, and since I was flying solo I went to the bartender was quick to greet me, got my chips and salsa to me (which is on the house), and took my drink order. The music was very festive on the inside, the wraparound bar is a nice touch, and the atmosphere overall definitely sets a vibe. I ordered some queso dip cause, why not and it paired nicely with the salsa. I then proceeded to order the Quesabirria Taco dish that was phenomenal and I HIGHLY recommend. The birria consommé that comes with it, it so good so dip those tacos like your tastebuds depend on it. To say the least I am glad I went there the day after Cinco de Mayo and while I'm sure it was a vibe itself, I don't think I would have quite gotten the service and experience I did when they are operating on a normal day. All good things in moderation I guess‍.
