Took my daughter here for an early dinner and to cheer her up since she's had a rough few months. As the bad mom that I am I encouraged to order a margarita or piña colada but she was raised right and declined, saying alcohol won't improve her dreaded situation. Proud mama!!!! She ordered water I got tea. The service was friendly, fast and uninterrupted. We ordered carne asada and nachos. I can't remember all my daughter asked as toppings but it looked great! Food was good it came fast and hot! The steak was cooked to perfection. The only thing was that no cheese was mentioned on the menu but it did have it melted over the beans. It wasn't queso fresco; I couldn't tell what kind of cheese it was, maybe white American, but it was awful! I pushed it aside. My daughter said her nachos also had the same cheese on her nachos and she didn't like it either but the rest of the toppings were fantastic. lol when the chips were placed on the table with it were two bowls. One bowl was clearly salsa and the other was white so I dipped thinking it was queso. Yuck !!!! It definitely wasn't queso!! The restaurant could be cleaner. There were smudges on the windows and back door of dining area. The wall by kitchen you can see stains, dirt. The ladies room full length mirror had smudges and the center stall has a broken toilet seat. It was well stocked with paper towels and toilet paper and a soft fragrance. The outside signage wasn't very visible from the shopping center entrance. I had to loop around the parking lot toward the car wash and behind it, it was on that end. Don't know if there was a cross contamination with an allergen but after I left I had to take an allergy pill. I felt nausea and a scratchy feeling in my throat. The place is very clean, and the staff is very helpful and friendly. I got the carnitas platter; it comes with rice, refried beans, cheese, tortillas, chips, and salsa. There was a lot of food, and it all tasted very good. Now, I didn't get limes for the carnitas or cilantro, and what threw me off the most is I got a side of ranch (I didn't know what to use it on). The atmosphere of this place is so fun and is one of our go-to Mexican restaurants. The service is always on point and they never let your drink go empty. Sometimes you randomly go get some Mexican food and sometimes it's just like completely underwhelming And that's what it was here! So I know I'm not in California anymore so I've lowered my expectations of finding good Mexican food here but what I had here was definitely something I only ate because I payed for it. So first off they gave us some chips and salsa along with the white sauce which I'm thinking it was like a chipotle ranch or something either way it was interesting and edible so that was good but it became better when mixed with the salsa! My combo plate was very blahhhh as they used the same ground beef for all three of the items and everything just tasted the same very flavorless and just not very satisfying so I'm not going to go to into detail about it other than this dish needs a lot of work as it felt just thrown together in a rush. Overall this is a mellow little place that needs some work on their food with that said I'd never come here again as it wasn't worth the money and the food they served me was very below standards for what I would even call mediocre Mexican food! read more

I have been waiting for the York Plaza Azteca to open for MONTHS. It is still really popular and there always seems to be a fairly long wait, but it is TOTALLY WORTH IT. I was there on a Friday night with my husband and son. We waited an hour for a table and were seated in a booth right off the main lobby area. We quickly received a small bowl of tortilla chips and both salsa and some white creamy dip that is like a weak version of ranch. Their salsa is so tasty. The chips were fresh but could have used a little salt. Like most places right now, there is no salt and pepper on the tables. I ordered a mango margarita. Bar service was a little slower than I would have normally liked to deal with, but my drink was HUGE, STRONG and DELICIOUS. We also had the tableside guacamole. I was impressed to see the guac guy discard an avocado that had some bruising inside. He used two full avocados and asked for my spiciness preference. They did not water or oil down the guacamole at all and it was almost as good as the guac I make myself. Almost. :) We also had chicken and beef empanadas. The fillings were both great but we liked the cheesiness of the chicken better, and whatever they use to make the shells with was fantastic. My husband and I shared the fajitas for two. Admittedly, we had a lot of chips plus empanadas, so despite trying really hard to devour the excellent fajitas, we had to take some home. We took so much home that we were able to make quesadillas for ourselves and two kids the next day, and the meat and veggies were delicious, even left over. The one negative that keeps this from being a 5-star review for me is that the service was really slow. It was taking forever to get anything but they are new, and busy, so we will keep returning. I highly recommend this spot. I know it's a chain, but the food is excellent. read more

We ordered from here for delivery. The fajita my friend got was half the size of what a dinner portion would be at a restaurant. We got no free chips and salsa...we paid almost $8 for them when you get them at the restaurant for free. We had to pay for our sides which were in condiment cups! Tonight (a Thursday night) a mariachi band serenaded people around the bar and restaurant; they sounded amazing and were even taking requests. We were down in York for a conference and stopped here for dinner after. I have been wanting to try Plaza Azteca for a while so was really excited to see one close by our conference location. We were seated nearly immediately when we came in. However we were initially seated at a high top table which did not accommodate a high chair. After finding someone, it seemed our request was not initially understood. Eventually we were able to be moved to a regular table Both our margaritas were delicious. We were a bit thrown off by the lack of prices on the drink menu. Each margarita was about $14 and they are HUGE. Well worth the price. We ordered a kids cheese quesadilla for our mini chaperone and tacos for us. Everything came out super fast and was delicious! Portions were huge. I cannot remember the last time my husband wasn't able to finish a plate while out and he had to take half of his home. Just as hot as their sister store in Lancaster. Opening day and this place is Hoppin and they've got their ducks in a row already. I didn't get a picture of my plate before I dug into it but I did get a picture before I finished and you can see the size. It's huge. It's the old Logan's roadhouse building but they have completely revamped it. The interior is really nice but not as Mexican-ish as I thought it would be. They kept some of the original interior. Which obviously saved a lot of money for something that didn't really need to be replaced. My wife and I have been regulars at the Lancaster location but it's 30 minutes away. Now that the York location is open, it's only 10 minutes away. We had five in our party and no one was disappointed with the food or the portion sizes. The only mixup I noticed was that they forgot my shrimp on the Laredo dish. Being as it's new and on their second day open, I can forgive that. They brought the shrimp out in less than five minutes and all is good. It was a very pleasant experience. Our server Ian, seems like he could be new to the serving game (maybe not) but he still did an amazing job under pressure. I sometimes tend to put my servers through the paces. He was patient and eager to learn and more than earned his tip. (Witch was generous btw) I tip well to servers who work for it and Ian went above and beyond. Oh yeah! The chips and salsa are amazing. They have 4 different types of salsa. Watch out for the green one though. Habanero and something else and it is as hot as a firecracker. Enjoy! read more

Food was delicious. Service a bit slow but it was a Friday at 7pm . We sat at the bar took about 25 min to get a drink then as we were served our drinks our table was ready so we closed out and got moved to a table . Food came out pretty fast so kitchen must be on point and staffed well. Staff was friendly . No complaints besides there is always a wait and the it took forever to get a drink . However I guess you have to expect that on a Friday . Will be back to try everything. We got the Birria tacos and the chicken chimichangas .my tacos were delicious a bit pricey at 16.00 bucks . My family visited your York, Pa restaurant, while we enjoyed our food there are a few things that need to be addressed. First, our waitress was new (we had no problem with that,everyone deserves and needs a job) we feel she did not have proper training. We ordered a beer and had no clue if they sold that kind even though we showed her on the menu! We asked for water, she brought us one glass, when we asked for 3 more glasses she accidentally spilled the last one on the table, no problem it happens and the beer was dropped on the floor. Now, with all that being said, the beer was not replaced with another one, the manager never asked us if everything was ok while we are sitting at a water soaked table! They didn't offer to reduce our bill or give us free drinks or anything. We really felt sorry for the new waitress but management needs to be addressed as to what to do in this situation. I've visited the chain restaurant in Lancaster and Lebanon. I expected the superior service and excellent food and drinks that I was accustomed to. What I found in my two visits thus far is a staff that isn't very attentive to customers and food that has been lacking expediency and care. The drinks have been good. I've found appetizers that came out burnt, the plantines and over cooked and dry Carnes asada. This was disappointing, would you serve your mother food like this?? Much less someone who is paying for this? I enjoyed the other restaurants in this chain but this one has a way to go. I know York is desperate to have a quality authentic Mexican restaurant.
