Went here because of a festival... Didn't have an issue with the wait. I had an issue with getting my food before my sister, when all she had was street corn and my order was larger. When we realized my sister was skipped she went to window and inquired. The woman working the window yelled, "ARE YOU 356!?" My sister said "no, but you skipped me, I'm 352". She quickly interrupted and said "Did I call you, you need to back up until I call you?" My sister again told her that she had skipped her. She took my sisters number and handed her the corn for "356". No apology, no nothing. To top it off, my sister talked me into the street corn, and it was so disappointing. From what I understand it should be grilled with queso fresco. This was boiled corn (cold), with parmesan cheese. No flavors jumped out, no salt... I ate a quarter and threw it out. My sister took a bite and threw it out. My sister was visiting from out of town and this was our first night out, it was promptly derailed by poor service, mediocre food, with no apology.

Let me describe my taco ordering process. One of the main things I look for in a taco truck or taqueria is what their default toppings are. If it's onion and cilantro, I feel pretty confident. If it's cheddar cheese, shredded lettuce, and chopped tomato, I'm pretty sure I'm having some Americanized taco and I think I'll go for extra chips and guacamole. So this truck was serving at my apartment complex. I ordered 2 steak and 1 chicken for $11. Plenty of onion and cilantro, not to mention several lime wedges, which I always appreciate. And they included small cups of red salsa and green salsa. Excellent tacos, some of the best I've had in the Tidewater region.

Now this food truck supplied the meal (lunch/dinner) for my friends wedding at the beach house in Pungo this past September. The catering company if you will. Babe and I were first in line and was able to try mostly everything. I am super disappointed I missed out on the roasted corn. I love love love roasted corn. I guess I was so excited about the tacos, I didn't even see roasted corn on the menu. Nevertheless, the tacos were pretty good. The tortilla was not a hit with me, but I ate the meat out of the tacos. Out of the three, I cannot recall which was my favorite, but I definitely had a favorite... shrimp I believe. Well if you see this goodness on wheels support and check them out. Super friendly service! Have fun and enjoy life :)

I have been here several times to pick up food, but this was my first time actually going inside to order. The line was long around lunchtime, but it moved quickly. It is fast casual style, so you walk down the line choosing what you want and then pay at the register. I honestly had no idea that was how it worked before, so I was prepared to wait a while. I was pleasantly surprised at how efficient everything was. I was in and out much faster than expected. While putting my order together, the man helping me handed me a sample rib over the counter. I am a very socially awkward person and do not handle unexpected moments very gracefully, so I probably reacted a little awkwardly. That part was on me. The rib was GOOD though. He was very kind about my reaction and even handed me a napkin. The whole staff was friendly, asking how my week was going and checking in to make sure everyone was happy. Even though it was busy, they clearly care about customer service. The food was great. The garlic and green onion sausage had so much flavor, and the bananamisu was the perfect sweet finish. I originally went in hoping to order the BBQ oxtail, but they were sold out within two hours of opening, which honestly says a lot about how good they must be. I had also gone the day before around 7 PM and they had already closed because they were sold out for the day. Just a heads up that they do close early if they run out of food. Overall, great food, friendly staff, and quick service. I will definitely be back and hopefully I will finally catch the oxtail next time.

For this, I'll be departing from my normal style of writing to write an educated and informal post in hopes that the truckers will read this and make amends for the next gathering. Before the actual review, I'd like to thank WHRO for graciously hosting the event. Onto the business end of the stick... I showed up at 1:40PM, an hour and forty minutes after the event started. When I got there I went in what appeared to be the shortest line, which was for Norfolk Ramen (NR). In line I asked the person in front of me how long they had been waiting and they said for 15 minutes so far and that there was a second line to wait in to get your food. Still I waited, and waited, and waited. 25 minutes later I heard that NR ran out of the item I was interested in. No bueno mi compadre. I decided to go for another line; this time it was Stuft. A friend of mine who had already gotten food from them said the wait was only around 35 min and the tacos were pretty decent. 25 minutes into this wait Stuft called the line off and said they had ran out of food. ¡Que verracos pasa! At this point I was pissed, so I left. I not only worked in the gourmet food truck circles, but have also visited the various circles across the country. My experience was horrible and I know that I am not alone because the two girls that were behind me also left the NR line to go to the line for Stuft. This is unacceptable. What it is reflective of is very poor preparation. Did anyone think to call the plethora of great trucks from the food truck rallies/farmers markets from around the country for expertise? Not only have they been doing this for a while, handle greater volume, have more expansive menus, and do it all with wait times in the range of 5 to 10 minutes. I already know the answer to the question is no. There are a lot of people kissing your collective arses at the moment, because the majority of them do not know any better which is a shame in itself. Excuses like you didn't know people were going to show, it's hard working in those trucks, etc. You saw the RSVPs on FB, you new of the collective noise in the HR area via the various media/online outlets, and it's cramped but there benefits to working in the truck as well. So, I guess I will be the critic in the crowd and call for results. If you want to successfully join the culinary movement sweeping across the States, then simply do better. Have enough food for the crowds, have enough staff to assist, and do the prep work necessary to punch down wait times. Why this isn't a one star review is because of the location (good), the idea (also good), and from what I saw of the food (it looked good). Suggestions for the venue organizers... Maybe have an on-site portable ATM and invite a craft beer truck. I'll update this review after attending the next rally.

After scanning the menu, I was in between getting the Fried Chicken Sandwich and the Moon Burger, both sounded good. I went ahead and got the Chicken sandwich which had fried chicken, burrata, hot honey, lettuce and pickles on a potato bun and came with fries. This sandwich was a beastly treat. Thick, juicy, flavorful and super satisfying. My only complaint would be how soggy the bottom bread gets and falls apart but that can hardly be helped with such a top-heavy combination. The fries were incredible and were reminiscent of McDonalds fries in the best way possible. The Moon sauce that came on the side was a pleasant accompaniment with a buttermilk ranch profile with a bit tangy flavor. I loved this meal so much I was looking forward to the next time I could try the burger which I did at an event at the MOCA. The moon burger came juicy and smashed with pepperjack, caramelized onions, lettuce, pickle and that moon sauce on a Martins potato bun. This was easily one of the BEST burgers I have had in a while it was hot, incredibly juicy, loaded with toppings and super satisfying. Inherently I am not a pickle person, but I loved the pickles on this because they were sweet and spicy and provided a good balance of flavor. Again, the bottom bun got soggy but that's expected at this point. I opted for the moon sauce on the side to dip my fries in which were nice and crispy. I will say BB's sandwich was burnt on one side so he couldn't enjoy his as much but mine was easily a 9/10. I recommend giving this truck a try for sure they have a knack for ingredients and quality overall.
