I went to Plaza golf for a driver, specifically the Taylormade Sim2. I was met by a salesperson, Darryl, who was thorough and asked many questions about my current driver (M6) and what I was looking for in a new driver. We all want distance and accuracy though this is usually a trade off. Darryl allowed me to use the practice area and launch monitor with demo clubs. The first club I tried out was the Sim2 with a regular flex shaft. I immediately liked the feel and data on the launch monitor. Unfortunately, some pre-scheduled fitting appointments arrived and I could not use the testing bays. As I had made my purchase, Darryl ran up to me and said the testing bay opened up. He wanted me to try out the Sim2 DMax driver so I didn't have any regrets leaving the store. Now, who would be that thorough and go through the trouble, especially after I had made my purchase? Darryl really impressed me with his knowledge and he cared about my purchase. It was not an inexpensive driver and in the end, I was able to trade in my M6 for credit. Plaza Golf has really good employees who care about your purchase, take the time to answer questions, and will even set up fitting appointments if you need one. They are thorough and knowledgeable about golf products and when the employees don't know, they ask co-workers instead of making it up. That's called credibility and honesty. Brought my husband in for a driver fitting. While we did end up purchasing a new Mavrik, we felt like we could have explored more options as he only took swings with 3 different drivers. However, they spent an hour and a half with a variety of shafts with each driver to find the best fit. The price was great though as, for the cost of a retail new driver, we were able to get a custom shaft (including shortening) and grip to match his playing style, so I highly recommend coming in if you are in the market for new clubs. Plus if you purchase with them, they waive the fitting fee. An iron fitting is $150, driver fitting is $75, woods/wedges $50, and putter it is $50. Entire bag fitting is $250. read more

My son broke his 8 iron yesterday, we called for a fitting appointment, had one today with Zach, and walked out with THEE perfect set of irons (we lucked out cos they had two different sets in stock and we didn't have to order, which can take anywhere from 2 weeks to 2 months!) in time for practice prior to next week's matches. Zach was personable, knowledgeable, and made us feel like "Ohana." I love these old skool places where the employees actually do the sport - reminds me of Sport Chalet (RIP) back in the day. And, we received a nice deal, too - bonus! Go here and no where else - you won't regret it! $100 for fitting, but waived if you purchase now or at a future date. I booked a fitting with Todd in January and it took 6 weeks to get an appt for a club fitting, and it was well worth the wait. Todd has been in the industry for over 30 years and is extremely knowledgeable. We spent all the time necessary to dial in my woods and iron specs. I did not feel rushed and he was very patient. We modified my existing irons and he didn't try to sell me on new products just to make a sale. Corey modified my irons to perfection as my current lie angles were all different !!! By far the best golf shop I know of! Bought many clubs from Plaza over the years with great service and success. I stupidly visited a Club Champion recently after having all my clubs stolen and have been going through the wringer with them regarding delays and order issues and their zero return policy. Finally decided to just head back over to Plaza as it's a little further of a drive for me now but as always it was well worth the effort. The guys got me out the door with a putter I've been waiting weeks for in a matter of minutes. Played the following day and one putted the first 4 holes with 2 birdies! He didn't do the majority of it, but he did assist the younger guy in the analysis that ended up helping me, and I appreciated that. So when I decided to buy some new irons I booked a fitting with Todd. Todd was great and he very patiently and graciously fitted me for irons. I was in need of new clubs but most importantly needed fitting. My friend Liza who plays golf regularly referred me to this place because she said they were very friendly. So I booked a fitting on the phone. They called me me the day before to follow up and remind me to bring a glove, my diver and my 7 iron. I arrived at the shop and it was busy but someone helped me right away and brought me in the back outside where I was introduced to Bob. We proceeded with the fitting. Not only Bob was extremely knowledgeable but he was also so very nice. He measured me and explained everything in detail and I got to try different set of iron mix match with shaft and heads. After one hour, I made up my mind and proceeded to place an order. Resonantly priced, very well organized and very friend store. The owner is very hands on and super sweet and funny. I ended up getting a beautiful set of Mizuno irons, very reasonably priced (with no net cost for the fitting). I called in to see if they accepted walk in during this whole covid19. They said I had to book an appointment to get fitted which is completely understandable. I told them to call me if they had any cancellations for the day. Few hours later I received a call that a time opened up for me and to come in and get fitted with Todd. I came to purchase a new driver. I have never been professionally fitted before. Todd was amazing and helped me find a driver that was right for my swing. I went in to Plaza Golf looking for some new irons and wanted to check out the store for the first time. There is so much selection available and wide range of product to meet almost everyone's needs. The reason for the loss of one star is because it did take a while to get some assistance on the floor, but once I did, I have only great things to say. Robert approached me and we talked about what I was looking for and the price range that I was in. I also mentioned that I wanted to be properly fitted for my new irons. He offered to fit right then and there, and so we did. He fitted me for my irons and got me dialed in with the right clubs. Since I'm pretty tall, I need longer clubs and Robert went to the back to check stock to see if there was the clubs I needed in my size. Sure enough there was, and I walked out of there with brand new clubs, in my size and other specs that we discovered during the fitting. In addition, I got a great deal on the brand new clubs. I paid way less that what I imagine I would, but got exactly what I wanted and needed. I'm beyond happy and will definitely be returning to plaza golf and referring it to friends. read more

I leave very few Yelp reviews, but I find this one hard to pass up. I would leave zero stars, but that's not an option. We thought we'd keep the business local since we live in the South Bay, but after the incredibly poor service I wound up purchasing my wife's Christmas Gift from Roger Dunn in Santa Monica - an incredible experience, with a staff that couldn't do enough to help! A $1,400 lost sale for PG! My wife went up the the guy behind the register to get some assistance in purchasing a new set of clubs, but all he offered was a finger pointing in the general direction of where she should be able to find something when she specifically told him she's new to golf, and has no clue what she's looking for! We made one loop around the store which has an overwhelming amount of inventory, and walked out the door. I was truly blown away by the lack of interest in their efforts to help, and make a possible sale. If the employees are truly that disinterested, maybe they should find a new profession, and as a local business owner I would recommend those in charge heed to the many reviews describing the same exact issue. Take my advice and spend the time to drive to Roger Dunn... you won't be disappointed. read more

Lazy employee. I called plaza golf on 3-16-22 to see if they had the new vokey sm9 wedges and save my time and gas if they didnt. The old guy who answered the phone at the front desk said they were short staffed and he couldnt check to see if they had the new wedges or not. he was 20 ft away where the wedges are located. I had to drive 35 mins one way to check if they had the wedges in stock. What do you know. Only 3 left that had uncommon bounces. This plaza golf associate wasted my time. When i visited the store there were 3 guys at the front counter doing nothing. Ive spent thousands of dollars there prior to my last visit I will no longer contribute to plaza golf. I do not reccomend plaza golf. Staff is lazy and unprofessional. read more

Cracked the face of my Sim Max driver today and took it in to Plaza to see if there was anything they could do. They said they would call TaylorMade to see if it was covered under warranty. Got a call back less than an hour later saying that TaylorMade was going to replace the driver with a new Stealth head. Todd and the crew installed the new head and I was back in business in no time. So it was time to replace my 15 year old irons. So I went looking for a very good fitter that did not rep just one brand. I went on yelp and found Plaza Golf. Long story short decided to call and make an appointment. So I just had the fitting today and after 30 years of golfing I just have to say "Todd where have you been all my life". Now I live out in the middle of no where and choose to drive 3 hours to get a quality fitting. Todd is easy going, easy to talk to and you can tell the he really wants to work as a team to get you into the right stocks that fit into your budget. I ended up with a set of Ping 700 with the perfect shaft. We spent a lot of time hitting about six different shafts. Once we picked a shaft and head combo we did a second baseline on my current clubs now that I was warmed up. They were Ping G2s. I ended up with a 10 yard gain!!! So now I am just waiting for them to show up. Todd was great during the fitting and was great while writing up the order. I also bought a few other things. They have EVERYTHING you would ever need. Bottom line is that this was well worth the 6 hour round tip. read more

Plaza Golf has a great selection of gear (typical for most golf stores such as Roger Dunn or Golfsmith). But what sets Plaza Golf apart is the service, especially by the owner, Todd. One of the staff saw me looking around and asked if he could help. I mentioned I was eyeing a set of Ping irons. He took me out back where there is a hitting net and let me try the irons out. More importantly, while I was out back, Todd noticed me trying the irons and came over to give me a quick fitting. I hadn't called ahead about a custom fitting or anything. During the fitting, I was a little nervous because I really hadn't took a swing or hit a golf ball in 10 years, but Todd made me feel very comfortable and relaxed ... he was patient and easy-going, and explained what he was doing step-by-step. Just got back into golf after a 10 year hiatus. Ron was helping me with new wedges. He explained the big change in lofts with new iron sets. He went over the differences in lofts, bounces, etc. he then had me hit to see if the lie was correct. He then checked to see if lofts were accurate! And they were a tad bit off. So in come Greg who adjusts the loft and lie on my 2 new wedges! Wow! I admittedly shop mostly online nowadays, but getting fitted for clubs simply can't be done online.
