Completely overpriced for what you actually get. You are paying a premium for the geographic location and that is it. Nothing special about the store, the staff, the service, etc. It was both the most overpriced and most bare bones pedicure I've had in years. Maybe 10 seconds of "foot massage" with the option to pay another $18 for 10 min of "reflexology." Upcharges for the premium polishes ate outrageous - Essie Couture is $7 extra when you can buy a bottle of both the polish and the topcoat for $10. Other than the woman at the front desk, staff doesn't speak great English. You are offered no drinks, no magazines, really none of the "extras" you expect for paying a premium price. And they are constantly trying to upsell you the whole time. Go elsewhere!! read more

I went here with a group for mani pedis. We brought in some champagne and had some tapas delivered for us to snack on. They let us use a nice table to set things up for our group (we didn't rent the place out). We didn't have plates and they gladly found some for us and offered with the food. The pedi area is nice with actual sitting chairs (not massaging chairs) with bowls for foot soaking. They have pedicures ranging from $69 - $100+ depending on what you're looking for. They will also do gel polish on your feet. There are staff walking around offering massage while you get a mani or pedi and they charge by 10 minute increments. I got a 20 minute massage while getting my pedicure and it was amazing. I didn't expect much, but I wanted more time after mine was up. With the foot massage and back/shoulder/neck massage all at once, I was in complete relaxation mode. I would recommend giving them a try if you have the budget! read more

I had a lovely technician (not sure her name) and overall the experience was much more pleasant than last time. However, I am only bumping it up to 3 starts for the following reasons: 1) This place is PRICY. My total would have been $65 for a basic mani/pedi had this not been complimentary. My biggest issue is they charge up to $10 EXTRA for certain polishes. I go to salons all over the city- $10 for Essie "long wear" polish is absurd. They also only have one sign, which is hidden to the right of the polishes, letting you know of this upcharge. My technician did not let me know the polish was extra. Had on not been there before, I would have been very upset upon checking out. 2) For the price, they should have "extra" perks to make you feel like you are at an actual spa. Tenoverten and Jin Soon are all nail salons in the price range in the area, but I would go to them any day before Plaza M again. I was never offered a beverage or magazine. For that price, I should have at least been offered water. 3) My biggest complaint is when I checked out, the manager asked me to update my review. I said I would as I had a much better experience. She then pressed me further, begging me to delete my original review and write a new one because "sometimes people don't realize they can do that". It felt odd to me to push so much- and honestly turned me off a bit. She could have asked me once and dropped it when I said OK, but her pestering ruined the spa experience. I want my old review to stay up because I think it is important for people to be aware I am writing this review after a complimentary service. 4) This isn't really a complaint, just something I found odd. As I was finishing up my manicure, my boyfriend let me know he was running late for drinks. Since I had time to kill, I figured I would try to get a 10 min chair massage. I was told that there was only one guy who could do that and he wasn't available for 30 min. Mind you, the place was empty so not sure what he was doing! Anyway, I ended up going around the corner to I-Plaza for it. All in all, it wasn't a bad experience. Would I go again? Probably not unless I was desperate. There are just much better experiences in NY (10 over 10, Jin Soon) and for the price I would rather go to one of them. read more

If I could give them zero or negative stars I would. In a world where there are nail salons on virtually every block, I believe customer loyalty should at a minimum be acknowledged. I have been a customer of their franchise for over 15 years. Yes, they are very pricey but deliver an experience somewhere in between your basic nail service and a premium spa. I had a pedicure on Wednesday and then scheduled an appointment for a manicure for today, Friday. I had an emergency call from a client and called them 5 minutes past my appointment time to let them know and request a reschedule. The man who answered, sighed in annoyance and said "I will mark you down as a no show and next time call in advance". I responded with "in all the years I have been a client, ANY time I am running late or need to reschedule, I call. I am sure not everyone does that and I am offended by the way you are speaking to me". We had a heated exchange (twice because I called back to reiterate my point and he hung up on me...like a petulant teenager ) and ultimately of course, I will never return. Plaza M is beautiful and spacious. This was one of the best manicures I've ever gotten! I felt like the manicurist really took good care of my nails. I did have to wait a bit because there are only a few seats but it was definitely worth it. This cost me $23 plus tax but I got them done almost 3 weeks ago and it has lasted so long people ask me if it's gel. They charge based on which polish you choose. Other places I've been to might be cheaper, but the polish is cheap and it chips in a couple of days. They play good music, too! read more

First time coming here and the staff were super friendly, patient and accommodating. My nail stylist was Ujin. She was very kind, meticulous, and she took her time to do my nails. Toward the end of everything, my hands felt super soft and my nails were completely and utterly flawless! I am definitely coming back here again for a Mani-Pedi combo. Prices here are on par with other nail salons in the city (around $18 for a standard mani), but the service they provide is top class! I don't think I can ever go to another nail salon after coming to this one. Thank you Plaza M! I came here for a mani-pedi after my friend went and told me about what a great experience she had. It was a bit out of my way to get to, but she spoke so highly of it that I had to check it out. And wow, she wasn't lying! I began to feel soothed as soon as I walked in - the sleek and natural decor of the spa made it very welcoming and relaxing. The staff was friendly too, and willing to answer any questions I had about the different treatments. This time around I went for a standard mani-pedi, but next time I may try one of their massages or facials. I was really impressed by the cleanliness (so important in a spa!) and felt that I could really just relax and enjoy my experience here. Such a relaxing time after a long day at work. The staff is super friendly and the environment is definitely much nicer than a lot of other salons. They don't have massage chairs but they do have very comfortable couches to get a pedicure. This is my second time here and my last pedicure lasted an entire month! It's not overly crowded, the prices are slightly on the higher end but we'll worth it when you just need to unwind. Their massages here are great too. read more

Update as of 6/1/18: management reached out to me regarding my review and offered me free services to makeup for the bad customer experience. As I mentioned in my previous review, the people who did my nails last time were so lovely. This has not changed. The lovely woman who did both my nails and toes was so courteous and did a great job. Even gave me tips to make my manicure last longer and to keep my cuticles soft in between manicures. When I got to the register, they did say it was still free but I did give over 20% for services. I had a 45 minute massage here recently that was possibly one of the worst massages I've had. I've had massages that were lackluster or mediocre, but this was downright painful. Even after I mentioned several times that the pressure was too strong, my masseuse continued to apply the same amount of pressure and strength. Perhaps it would have been fine for a 200 pound man looking for a deep tissue experience, but I was not (and am most certainly not a 200 pound man). All in all, disappointing. read more

My girlfriend came here for a pedicure and massage. She said that the services were on par for a spa, not just a nail salon. There are private rooms downstairs for full body massage. The rooms are clean and have the full accompaniment of details you'd find at a spa: hot towels, aromatherapy candles, soft music. Massage is inexpensive for TriBeCa and very professional. They offer spa pedicures which include lower leg exfoliation and massage. She says it's well worth the extra money. read more

Headline - Stay away if you're looking for a good place for massage. While everything looks nice on the top floor where the nail services are offered, things are quite different down below in the basement where massage service is provided. To start, while I arrived just in time for my massage, the masseuse didn't come upstairs until about 10 minutes later and that was only after one of the front desk staff went to retrieve him. No apologies, brusque manner, walked quickly ahead of me so much so that by the time we got downstairs I almost lost him in the maze of 'rooms.' I put that in quotes because I soon discovered during the massage that the room dividers are quite thin and they'd put me right next to another massage client so that I could hear everything they said, every cough the masseuse made, his timer that later went off, the things he dropped while cleaning up...it was dreadful and very unrelaxing. The music also played only intermittently otherwise there might have been hope that those sounds would be drowned out. As for my own massage, the masseuse asked me no questions (this was my first time) about my needs, didn't review the profile I'd been asked to fill out upstairs, just pointed to the table and said 'face down'. I even had to ask for guidance on where to hang my things since all the room had was a basket (with a used towel laying next to it) and a plastic hanger hanging from the top of the door. The massage started out okay. He asked whether I preferred medium or strong pressure, but then he seemed to become fixated on removing knots on my shoulders (that have been there for about 20 years) and was so unrelenting that I finally had to ask him to stop because it was too painful. I had to ask him this about 5 more times while he worked on my back in other places. He just couldn't seem to get the message that his technique and pressure were too intense. In addition to the pain of the massage, he belched under his breath about 4-5 times (never excusing himself), once bumped into the headrest piece (again, no apology), and had a stuffed up nose so he breathed through his mouth the entire time. Again, not such a big deal if you're having a relaxing massage with nice music playing to cover those sounds up, but wasn't happening in this case. Once the massage ended I was left to my own devices. He was nowhere to be found outside my room so I had to ask an employee, who happened to come downstairs, where to find a bathroom, which was missing the hot water handle on the faucet. On the way upstairs to check out I passed a manicurist on her way downstairs. She was holding all her tips in her hands like a fan counting each bill and then gave me a sheepish grin once she noticed me. Only at the check out did I finally see my masseuse who offered to get me a lukewarm cup of water in a paper cup. The runny icing on the cake of a very dreary experience. read more

I actually just signed up for yelp to write this review because my experience was so unusual--I live a block away, so was hoping this would be a good spot, but unfortunately I did not have a good experience. I asked for a manicure, pedicure and 10 min shoulder massage. The technician doing my feet pushed for me to choose a more expensive option, saying I needed more services and it would be cheaper for me to choose the 75 dollar massage and pedicure combo. I said no, I'd rather just have the cheapest pedicure and a 10 min shoulder massage. The masseuse then pushed for 15 minutes when I said 10--it felt like I was bartering! At the end of my pedicure, the technician rubbed my feet and then I got my manicure. She asked me to pay-- 73 all in all. I did, and when she brought the receipt back she had charged me 91, saying she had forgotten to include the foot massage. Well. It was then I realized that when she had been rubbing my feet, that was the massage. I explained that I was happy to pay but that there had been a miscommunication. I paid and then she asked for a tip in cash (I only had a credit card and there is no sign saying tip in cash only). The manager then came over and demanded my credit card, saying that I needed to tip 20%. I did, but let her know as I was leaving that I was unhappy with the way I had been treated. Basically, the whole thing just felt like I was getting ripped off beyond belief. Plaza M, please don't charge someone 110 for a manicure, pedicure and massage and then be so rude. I had such high hopes for this place after I saw the esthetics and read about it through Gilt City. I was so close to buying the massage deal, but I am so glad I waited. I went in for a mani pedi less than one week ago over the weekend and had explicitly called the day before to make an appointment for my friend and I. When we got there, they had no record of it, but luckily, they were able to accommodate the three of us. We picked our nail polish color and I feel bad for saying this, but the guy who did my mani pedi was just not that good especially when it came to the part where they massage your hands / stretch out your fingers / scrape off the dead skin from the foot. It was so weak and literally it was like a high five and that was it then on came the polish. He didn't even get rid of the dead skin that was clearly peeling from the sides of my fingernails. Then when it came to paying, I was told it was $71?! Because I had chosen Chanel nail polish, it was $7 application per hand / foot so tacking on another additional $14 to the normal mani pedi price. They said the sign was up, but it was SO shady. The sign was alllll the way to the right by the windows and since I wasn't even interested in the polish in that section, I didn't go towards that area hence I didn't see the sign at all. I might as well have bought my own Chanel nail polish and get more use out of that instead. And I've been on the website numerous times and I didn't see any mention of the surcharge. Pretty sure I would have noticed it otherwise if it was more clear. The $71 didn't even include any sort of neck massage or shoulder rub, which I find appalling because I literally can pay less than $30 for a mani pedi at my local place and they would give me an amazing neck rub after my nails were done. Lastly, I've paid similar prices at different places before and they at least do NOT chip after LESS THAN A WEEK. The service was not even that friendly and I didn't experience anything that wowed me for the price I paid. The place just "looked" nice and that was it. I would rather go somewhere else that's less expensive if my polish was going to chip after 6 days. read more
