I'd probably give it 4.5 if I could, just because the price is with a massage is a bit over the top, but I just wrote a review for Bathhouse in Flatiron and between the two Aire is a clear winner. We went here a few months ago. The place is very dark and feels like you're in an underground cave (which I guess you kind of are...) that's cordoned off from the rest of the world. Bathhouse felt much more like an open public space, less well-kept, and the intake at the front desk was very poor. Aire had a wonderful onboarding with a detailed explanation of everything available and where to go for it. The massages were mostly rub-downs and were very relaxing (I fell asleep during mine) but not therapeutic, per se. Aire also has salt scrubs you can do, which is a nice touch, and overall the pools are immaculately maintained during the day. So if you're deciding between the two and have enough money to go to either, I recommend spending a touch more on Aire. It's worth the difference. read more

My husband gifted me a spa experience for Mother's Day and it was the ultimate treat. It was pretty busy for the first time slot, likely because of the holiday. He booked a 90 minute massage at 8am, so I had until 11 to enjoy the baths before/after my massage. Once you enter, you're guided to a locker where you can change into your bathing suit and then go to the baths for a tour if it's your first time. There are a few different pools, each with their own temperature and/or benefits. Don't miss the bath upstairs with a beautiful skylight! My massage was an ok experience - pressure fluctuated throughout, so it was hard to pinpoint when to tell her to go harder or softer. Even though there were a lot of people, it didn't seem too crowded in each pool at any point. The ambience is very dark, calming, and relaxing. Not sure I would buy a pass just for the pools because there's only so much time I can spend in each. But it's a great treat read more

My husband gifted me this spa, massage package at Aire on my snowy HBD in the West Village. We home swapped our Venice Beach cottage, and flew off! He had planned an evening of theatre, but I absolutely enjoy a chill evening+homemade brunch and wellness activities. He's been to AIRE prior, and I've had many massages locally in LA prior and always opt for the hot stone massage, this time couples massage which is what we did. It was cozy, relaxing, decompressing, and aromatic! Esp, on a snowy, 16 degrees outside wintery kinda Xmas holiday season. What a delight! We began our evening walking from the West Village, then upon entering Aire being greeted with warm tea my absolute fav drink besides an iced matcha. We were given wristbands and headed to our keyless entry lockers to robe up and descend into the jacuzzi, sauna, and cold plunge pools. It Feels like entering a gorgeous gothic cave. Strung abt are hundreds of real candles+exposed brick walls. Something we don't have in earthquake prone LA. Truly a romantic, and relaxing ambiance. After the messages, we grabbed our green juices and headed up to shower and dry the hairs on our heads with all the best products and Dyson hair equipment. Not lost on me. I've been back to AIRE dozens of time since my original review in 2013 (both TriBeca and uptown, but mainly TriBeCa location). For the most part, we have always enjoyed our experience - it never felt super crowded and the pools were always nice and relaxing to enjoy, as well as the steam room located in the center of the pools. It's a beautiful space. Massages continue to be mixed however --- my husband always wants a harder massage, while I ask for a lighter touch. He claims they never go as hard as he wants. My last massage there was fantastic. They renovated the space last year, and have run some promos recently and on our last visit it was noticeably more crowded, more than I had ever experienced before. I can only guess it is due to these two factors. We had an hour long massage, which I was extra happy about because I would've been frustrated being in those packed pools for the full 90 mins (massage was good, see above). The steam room was packed, some pools filled with large groups of people, etc. And it was tough finding space at the vanity to get ready afterward, which I'd also never experienced before. Add to this that they were fixing one of the new plunge pools while we were there, and during our massage they twice dropped tools resulting in very loud sounds which echoed into massage rooms which were located nearby. I don't think it was a wise choice to have that work done while guests were there, considering the setting of tranquility they are trying to create. Considering all the above, we have decided to take a break from AIRE, at least the TriBeca location. I brought these issues to the attention of management there and they have apologized with a discount. read more

AIRE Ancient Baths is all about atmosphere and it absolutely delivers. You're really paying for an incredibly curated, beautifully designed experience that feels like stepping into a modern version of Ancient Rome. The space is stunning, candle-lit, and meticulously maintained, creating a sense of calm from the moment you walk in. My wife and I opted for the 45-minute massage, and while it was good, it just wasn't our favorite part. We get massages fairly often and probably prefer a different style, so that might just come down to personal taste. If I were to go again, I'd skip the massage and spend more time exploring the various baths, that's where the real value and uniqueness of AIRE shine through. You do lose a few minutes transitioning in and out (changing, showering, etc.), which cuts into your overall time in the baths. But the top floor with the open ceiling was a highlight, it felt peaceful and rejuvenating. I came to AIRE expecting a relaxing birthday experience. Instead, I was deeply disturbed by religious music played during my massage, including a Hindu funeral chant that triggered personal grief. When I politely asked for the music to be changed or lowered, I was told it wasn't possible and the medicore masseuse (think skills of a Chinese massage spa) weirdly and awkwardly put a towel over my ears and squeezed it which didn't help. Religious music, especially when not understood or curated with cultural sensitivity, has no place in a spa. I've never encountered this at high-end spas like Mandarin Oriental or Bathhouse in NYC. AIRE's refusal to respond compassionately in the moment made the experience feel careless and alienating. This is not what I expect from a luxury wellness space. The Floatarium is life. I had the Signature Wine Experience which includes (among other things) a wine bath, charcuterie board, wine, scalp massage and body massage services (budget $750 pp). It was unique, relaxing and soothing. Outside of Japan, this is one of the few places one can receive this particular treatment. The staff are generally cordial and the environment is cavernous and dimly lit giving it a tranquil vibe. Cell phones are not aloud and signs the read "silence" are posted throughout the space. They also limit how many patrons are present at once, so a more boutique - quality experience comes with the higher pricepoint. Overall 4/5 read more

SCAM! Unfortunately, this spa is a scam. I would not recommend! I booked a 90 minute massage and they shorted me by at least 10 minutes, although likely more. I was in the locker room texting my husband when my wristband buzzed at 3:57 to call me to check in for my service. I was back at the locker texting my husband again at 5:21. Even in the best of circumstances, I was round trip at my locker in under 90 minutes, so my massage could not have lasted that long even if they counted starting when they buzzed the wristband. And I was kept waiting for a few minutes after checking in before being taken back to my massage room, so it's likely my service was closer to 15-20 minutes short. I notified reception and spoke to management on my way out, who said they'd be in touch soon to rectify the situation. I operated in good faith hoping to resolve this directly. I have followed up via email and not heard back despite being reassured they would reach out to me. I'm not sure why they were not able to provide a solution on the spot after I showed the manager the time stamps on my texts. It was very uncomfortable and disappointing that despite having legitimate proof, they didn't believe me. I've since shared this experience with a friend who has been to another Aire location and experienced their service being cut short too. It appears this is a gimmick by all Aires since they rely on you not having your phone on you in the baths and having no clocks throughout the facilities. Lastly, I was at my locker and not in the baths when my service was called because I asked in advance for an accommodation to have my service early in the window because I am breastfeeding and needed to time my feeds and they were unable to accommodate that (which is fine, they aren't obligated to, although it doesn't feel like a big ask when given advance notice.) They weren't even able to give me an estimated time that I'd be called for my service when I checked in so I could communicate with my husband at home with the baby on when to feed, which felt odd to me and adds to my belief they short lots of services because how else would they not be able to provide a service time upon check in? This is just speculation but given my experience, it is suspicious. I'm very disappointed in the customer service and of course the lack of providing the full service I've paid for and I will not be back. read more

Needed to de-stress recently and decided this was a good place to start. And what a good decision it was! First and foremost, cell phones are not allowed for privacy reasons, so completely disconnecting is inevitable. When you arrive, you're promptly greeted. There is a quick check-in process. However, since reservations are required, it's merely confirmation. Once checked in, you're provided wristbands that correlate to your experience and directed to the locker rooms - women to the left, men to the right. In the locker room, you are greeted by a very professional attendant who will guide you through setting up your locker and some quick rules and procedures. The locker rooms are clean and well stocked with everything you may need, including mouthwash. I booked the 120-minute experience which provided access to all the baths, the sauna, and a full-body massage. I was provided a robe (it's BYO swimsuit) and guided to the baths, where I was given a brief rundown of each bath, as well as a suggested starting point. You are free to roam, and an attendant will find you when your massage therapist is ready for you. Once you're called for your massage, you're directed back to private rooms and offered optional mesh shorts. Your swimsuit is placed on a heated drying rack. The massage was thorough, relaxing, and well-needed. We discussed problem/focus areas prior, and the masseuse was able to address them accordingly. If there is time left after the massage, you're free to head back to the baths. There is no pressure or rush to get you out. When you're ready to go, head back to the locker room and enjoy a hot shower. The attendant will dry and bag your swimsuit. There is everything you need post-shower as well, including combs, brushes, lotion, body spray, etc. Overall, 10/10 experience that was worth every penny. I may have found my new quarterly detox spot. Pro tip (lol): make sure you visit the rooftop bath! It's worth it even in cold weather. read more

I reached out within an hour of leaving, followed up over the next three days, sent photos, and even stopped by in person. Unfortunately, they said they neither found it nor kept it. I went into the woman's changing room and he went to the men's. The room was very nice has everything you would need to get cleaned up for after the baths. We met another lady and she asked us if we wanted to explore on our own or get a tour... def do the tour!! Because there is a certain bath you should start in and end in!! I've been wanting to check out Air Ancient Baths for a few years now, but timing never quite aligned for me while in NYC. Luckily, this past week I had some time to experience this beautiful space. As for as visuals, it's exactly what you would hope it would be - beautiful, sexy, peaceful, mysterious, relaxing. The ambiance alone is five stars and is perfect should you like to relax solo, but definitely an even more amazing experience with a romantic partner. As for what you're paying vs what you're getting, I have to admit I've been to a ton of spas with the exact same amenities at a better price. The water facility offerings are comparable to that of most Korean spas or other high end facilities with a range of baths - both warm and cold. I think what the standout of the experience here is truly the ambiance. Everything went smoothly, from check-in to their staff taking you from check point to check point. The only thing that I didnt love was having to go straight from the water with a wet bathing suit and upstairs into the massage room. It was a bit drafty and I felt so soggy and wet at the start of my massage. You're able to strip down and they have disposable underwear to use, but my hair was still cold so just didn't feel warm and cozy. But my massage therapist was great and I really enjoyed the massage. Overall, this I'm glad I finally had the opportunity to experience Aire but probably wouldn't return again unless I'd like to introduce the experience to a romantic partner for the first time. Been to the Chicago location which is nicer and bigger and even has an outdoor area to swim into, but this one is incredible for NYC. So cavernous and transportive and love the salt baths, too. I have so much to say. This was such an original experience. It could have been perfect but here's the cons and then I'll go into the pros and end on the high notes. Cons: They don't enforce their silence and quiet policy. There were rude people talking and killing the vibe - we are here to relax. Go to a bar to talk people! Not here. Even some staff would be talking at a louder volume. The masseuse was good but not great. She was not as good at getting knots out but relaxing. The massage room was cold and when you're coming from a hot spa experience it was chilly and the massage room was not as comfortable. The masseuse said she didn't know how to turn off the room's AC. They were very delayed for my appointment time which was ok but it seemed to cut into my 90 minutes a bit. I also never knew when they'd come get me so it was a little stressful. It was busy. There was room to do what you wanted but it killed the vibe having as many people there. It's co-ed which could be a con to some women. The pros: It's beautiful. The design and aesthetic is one of the best I've seen at a day spa and I've been to many. The place seemed pretty clean. The water seemed clean and not overly chlorinated and didn't smell. The staff in the women's locker room was wonderful. One mature lady with a short hair cut was terrific. I wish I got her name for a shout out. She made the experience better. The shower and the after care products were top notch. You don't need anything expect sunblock was missing. The robes are soft and they give you water socks to walk in so you don't walk on dirty floors which was nice. Seeing as their new UES location is not yet appearing here on Yelp, I will add my review here (for now) on the page for their Downtown location. The UES space is.... gorgeous! This was my first time, ever, at an Aire spa. I was really struck by the attention to detail. Every aspect is perfection. The three-floor space...the layout of the pools...the soft lighting...the fact that they clearly space out reserved clients in order to keep the place not overly crowded...it was just so serene and relaxing. There were (if I recall, correctly) two body-temperature pools, 1 or 2 hotter temperature pools, a small cold plunge pool, a very large jacuzzi/whirlpool type pool, a flotation pool (filled with enough salt that you can easily float, without having to try!) and a steam room. I came here on a Monday at 4:00p, and at times I was the only person in the particular pool. I will say, however, that I think the price of ...I think it was $150, for 90-minutes use of the baths/steam room/jacuzzi is a tad bit steep. That said, this place really is a class act. It's very elegant, serene, and all the staff (of which there were plenty, throughout the three floors of the spa) were terrific. read more

What a lovely spa. Booked the 90 min bath with a 30 min couples massage. Very relaxing from the moment you walk in. The ambiance is so nice with the music and candles surrounding you. They provide slipper/water shoes for you and a robe. You provide your own swim wear. There are several baths: -a warm bath - a hot bath -Two cold plunges -a Dead Sea - like bath with salt, called their Florarium -a bath with jets And a steam room My favorite was the hot bath and a close second was the steam room. I highly recommend the experience if you have the money and time. It felt like I was transported to another universe for the day. Avoid! I have been to both NYC locations as well as Chicago, London and Seville. This last visit was my birthday and by far the worst experience I've ever had at the aire spa. The facility was understaffed (no dressing room attendant for a long time and everything out of stock in showers) as well as falling apart. The flush bottom on a toilet literally fell out of the wall into the toilet, the shower wouldn't give hot water and sprayed. They gave me a locker that was directly in front of an air conditioner which had an awkward drop in it. New layout is a weird maze and the floatarium was closed...The massage was laughable, they entirely skipped my right arm?! And the staff was trying to rush us along during the massage-simply unbelievable given what we have experienced before. We will only visit aire spas located in Europe. They had fancy amenities like Dyson hair dryer, comb, robe, etc.) I enjoyed the multiple different hot tubs (salt, hot, cold, warm, etc.) My husband and I got the new Orange massage service and we thought it was decent - the massage pressure was more gentle than we had hoped, but it was still relaxing. Unfortunately I ended up getting really bad hot tub folliculitis afterwards so that might mean that the hot tubs are not as well maintained and clean as I had thought. read more

We especially loved the jet pool and the floating bath, which replicates the salinity of the Dead Sea--an amazing, unique experience! Upon arrival, we were offered refreshing juice in generously sized bottles, and throughout our visit, we enjoyed peppermint tea and cold water at our leisure. Our hour-long massages were exceptionally relaxing, with great therapists who ensured our comfort at every moment. This place is incredible, magical and all the good things! My husband surprised me with a relaxation day for the two of us here. He got the love connection 60 package which included a 60 massage and 60 minutes in the thermal baths. You are given a locker which includes a robe and water slippers. The locker rooms are just as lovely as the rest of the place and AIRE really has thought of every detail and they have everything you need post baths including hair dryers, stringing irons, combs, hair ties, styling products, you name it. The staff throughout the bath house was so lovely and accommodating. We started with 45 minutes in the thermal baths, then our massage, then 15 more minutes in the baths. The couples massage was wonderful and catered to what you wanted for problem areas in your body. The masseuse I had was great and worked out all the knots in my back, neck, shoulder and legs. Since we had just been in the baths our bathing suits and slipper were wet when we took them off for our massage and at the end of the massage you realize that they've warmed up and dried your slippers and bathing suit. Like I said thought of everything! The thermal baths were my favorite part of this whole experience. The area is quiet and not crowded. The price for the baths at AIRE ensures it is only a certain amount of people are in the bathhouse at a time so you're not swimming on top of people and also so it's discrete. There are 6 different baths that range in temperature, including 2 cold plunges, a 97 degree bath, a 102 degree bath, a Dead Sea type bath and a jet bath and a steam room. They also have seating areas with water and tea throughout. The 102 was my favorite of all and was situated right near the cold plunges for good reason. The Dead Sea bath was great but just like the ocean high salt can make my skin sting. After using the Dead Sea bath AIRE also has you shower and exfoliate to get the salt off your body before going into another area. The steam room though was by far my favorite which is odd but it's because it's so incredibly steamy in the steam room and every time I left it I felt so incredibly refreshed! Aire partners with the Beekman hotel so after our massages when we went bath to the thermal bath we were given complimentary truffles and non-alcoholic rose which was lovely. We were given a little extra time for our final time in the thermal baths as well just by chance because they were a bit empty, which was wonderful. I cannot recommend this place enough. It is expensive but I think for service you get and the quality of the entire establishment it is 100% worth it. I left feeling relaxed and rejuvenated. The discrete and quiet nature of this place made you feel like you were not in NYC or even the US which was fun. Oh and a cool note about this place is that there is a scene in the first John Wick movie that was filmed here. read more

This is a totally unique experience, with the number of baths I was able to use prior to my massage. There are several with different temperatures and a salt bath in which you can float. The place is immaculate, and the service is good. My only complaint is that there are signs in the baths requesting silence, but a number of people were speaking loudly, marring the serenity. My massage was lovely, but the room was near a check-in area where I could hear people speaking. Not a great attribute for a spa when you are there to zone out and relax. Horrible experience I recently went to the ancient baths at the Tribeca location on May 9, 2026. I unfortunately had a medical emergency because I am a diabetic. I had spoken to a manager and I had left my first and last name and I was assured that I would be able to come back free of charge and when I was ready to come back mentally and physically, I was told that I wouldn't be able to come back due to the manager not putting a note on my booking when I was assured that I would be able to come back and I left a lot of personal information that what I thought was going to help me come back and give a better experience and the cause of my medical emergency was actually due to the person doing my massage she had touched my medical alert device which I have located on my back she was putting insane pressure which I had told her not to touch it. Got to the point where I kept getting notifications on my phone which I wasn't even allowed to have my phone on me seeing that I had to keep it at the locker so when I felt myself being extremely lightheaded and felt faint, I rushed back to the locker and I left in the middle of my massage and I saw 15 notifications saying that my blood sugar had dropped extremely due to pressure. I changed out of my clothes and I had spoken to a reservationist like I said before I spoke to a manager and I had left my first my last name and my phone number and now when I'm trying to rebook, they're saying I can't this place is a scam. It's overpriced and is not worth it in my opinion and their customer service is absolutely horrible. I even let one of my friends know that recommended ancient bats to Me with her husband and I let them know of this experience and now they have no longer been attending. I'm hoping that at least someone can see this review whether it's a person willing to attend or someone that actually works at the ancient baths to contact me about this horrible experience oh and another thing when I called them they said that they never have a manager on duty which is absolutely unprofessional read more

Midweek visit that we were able to book the previous day. It was not too busy and we did not feel rushed or crowded in the pools although when we went back to the locker rooms to leave, it was a bit crowded there. Due to a recent illness, I have limited mobility and the staff could not have been more helpful and accommodating, BUT if a person could not manage stairs I don't believe this place is a good option. When I made the reservation online I mentioned the limited mobility and they called me to discuss. I appreciated that. We were advised that the elevator was not available. I would in advance if you have any concerns. Oddly enough, they booked my GF and I in the same massage room. We have no shame so it didnt matter but that was a bit odd. Massage was great, pools were fantastic. This is a great break for a girls day. Highly recommend. I have been to several Aire Ancient Baths, this one is spot on. Fantastic experience and highly recommended. Who knew you could find a European-type bath house in NY? We were gifted the Escape Together 45min experience and we loved the entire experience. Once we walked in the front door, we were transported to a magical place. The front desk is good, but the bathroom attendant really did a great job explaining everything. Aire provides bath towels, robes and water shoes. Their bathroom is stocked with L'Occitane products in the shower, fantastic air products, mouth wash and a Dyson hairdryer. The baths themselves were great and had a wide variety (slightly warmer than body temp, a hot one, 2 cold plunges, a salt bath and a jacuzzi type one). Overall these were nice, clean and overall enjoyable We also got massages as part of the package and highly recommend it. Overall - this is fantastic as a gift or for a self care routine for yourself. read more

Booked Aire tribeca a few weeks ago. Got a message today saying they are closed and needed to cancel or move me to upper east side. I confirmed upper east side, they never responded, other than to say they did t hear from me so cancelled my apt. I called in, loud third world call center and the man informed me that they had no availability on upper east side. Not relaxing, bad experience. Avoid AIRE read more

WORTH THE HYPE. Absolutely loved our time here and can't wait to check out the other locations too! We thoroughly enjoyed everything the spa had to offer and felt sooo relaxed at the end of it. Many other reviewers said that the massages were average, so my expectations were low, but I was completely blown away because Sandy completely knocked it out of the park. Maybe it was the atmosphere? Maybe it was the heated oil? Maybe it was her magical fingers? It was one of the best massages I've ever gotten in my life! I would go back just to get a massage from Sandy again. All in all, it's a luxury spa, and we were super happy with our experience despite the hefty price tag. read more

Nice ambience, a selection of 3 Ethereal songs on a never ending loop - and plenty of choices to indulge yourself in cold hot warm baths and steam room. place was very clean and service was excellent - you can tell people love working there. great way to reset the mind and body and feel like you're biohacking for 3 hours. the massage was deep tissue and was ok, i left sore after it but i've had other ones that were a bit better. would come back again - nice place! read more
