The Plaza Premium Lounge was my gateway into the finer things in life. I was fortunate to fly business class for business purposes and arrived a little earlier with the excitement of using the lounge. I was also half dead with a cold and trying my best to hide it so they'd let me through the gates. First thing I noticed was that sleek, shiny, lounge-y atmosphere. Damn, this place looks like a hotel and was beautiful. Small, but with shiny wooden decor and large windows that looked out onto the runway. Off to one corner was a discreet area for a shower. This must be where the frequent flying elite brush up. I sat at one of the comfortable seats and just stared outside until I had to go. Blissful. One of the main benefits of the lounge is of course, free food and refreshments. I'm guessing they rotate through different international fare. That day, I was only up for something soupy because I was sick. Luckily for me, they had laksa noodles. Even more luckily for me, I found it very tasty. Sipping away at my laksa and unlimited earl grey tea certainly helped put me to sleep for 8 hours straight on the plane ride afterwards. Yes, there were more people than I thought there would be. Yes, there were a surprising amount of families and kids. But this isn't some 18+, extra exclusive lounge. If I have my family with me and earned/paid my way into the lounge, what am I gonna do? Leave my kids outside? I happened across a previous review that starts with: "It blows my mind when I see 4 and 5 star ratings for this lounge. Have you never been to another lounge before?" Dropped in for breakfast before my early flight. This lounge is really small compare to other plaza premium lounges I've been to. They had scrambled eggs, sausages, quinoa, some pastries, and oatmeal available in a self serve station. The bar wasn't open yet. No made to order station like at other lounges. There weren't many tables in the room and most of them were occupied. Eggs and sausages tasted ok, eggs tasted fake. It wasn't that good but what can you expect for a lounge. read more

This lounge has downgraded so much over the years! You could actually get a decent meal and the lounge would always be super spacious and empty just a few years back. Not sure if it's because they are offering the access privilege to more people now? But the past three times we visited, there were barely any seats. This review is for the Domestic Lounge at T1 on your right after you cleared Security Checkpoint. The entrance is so small, and I missed it and ended up going downstairs trying to look for it. The lounge itself is the smallest out of all the Plaza Premium Lounge in YYZ. The food area is small but the staff works non stop to make sure everything is stocked and the area clean. Compares to AC Maple Leaf Lounge, the hot food selection is way better but I just found the seating here is too tight. Free admission with certain AMEX membership card or Priority Pass. Drink: fresh coffee, TAZO tea (Chai, Zen, Earl Gray), milk, soy milk, flesh tomato juice, some kinds of beer( Coors, Molson Dry, Canadian, Heineken,...) and soda(Schweppes) and wine(Red and white)... Food: chicken curry soup(You need to put some salt.), potato salad(pretty good), vegetable sticks(carrot and celery), lettuce and cucumber salad, olives, cut fruits(pineapple, melon, and cantaloup), chips, peanut, yogurt, petite cake, Chinese or Korean coup noodles... I stayed there only 5 minutes this time not to miss my flight like last time. So I'm sorry that I don't have much information. read more

I have been to about ten lounges using my Priority Pass, and this one at terminal 1 YYZ is undoubtedly the worst. The lounge was at capacity on a Saturday evening, long line to get in, maybe 25 minutes. The seat that became available for me was not comfortable for someone traveling all day, just on a bench next to a large family. The warm food was super mediocre and there were no snacks or bottles of water to grab like at other lounges. The hot meal was on par with a cafeteria. They out of glasses so I had to use coffee mugs to drink water. Obviously had to keep refilling, living in fear they would give up my spot. The staff seemed to be trying but the lounge was not clean. Tables taking forever to be bussed, etc. Eventually I found a spot on the other side of the lounge with chairs and this was much improved. Nothing special but it was comfortable. It shouldn't have taken an hour for me to sit there though. This was just not at all a relaxing environment. If I come back to YYZ, I would only come here if there was no line. Otherwise I would forgo my Priority Pass benefit and just eat at Tim Hortons. read more

Pretty decent lounge which is better than most Airline lounges in North America. And a bonus is that all you need is an AMEX charge card to enter (Platinum gets in free, Gold gets in for a discount). The chairs are comfortable, food selection is good - hot and cold food (even fruit) and there's drinks. Wifi uses the terminal wifi but the speeds are passable as long as you don't download anything big. Beer drinkers might be a little disappointed though. I couldn't find beer, but there was a good selection of spirits and soft drinks to mix up your own - vodka lemon iced tea FTW ;) read more

This review is for the lounge at terminal #3 for domestic departure. It is located between gate B23 and B24 For US$27, what does one get from this Plaza Premium Lounge? Quiet and relaxing environment, comfortable sofa, window views, free and fast internet connection, reading materials, clean bathroom that is not utilitarian, and all you can eat food and drink. I like the big windows and spacious seating the most. The alcohol selection is, in one word, unexciting: 2 red wines, 2 white wines, 1 domestic beer, 1 imported beer, a few liquors/spirits. I had a glass of red wine. It tasted like cheap table wine. Hot food was self served: 1 hot entrée with 2 or 3 sides. There were 2 hot soups. The hot entrée was thankfully normal food. Regardless of how little some thought of the hot food, it was better than the food in food courts outside of the lounge. Dessert selection was symbolic, meaning it was there just so the management could say there was dessert, yet it was merely one step above Jelly-O. I won't suggest you to pay that kind of money if all you want is some food, and one hour of internet usage. If you want a quiet environment and a comfortable sofa for a long wait, this fits the bill. Decent and nice and quiet here today. They have hot food all day, and 20% off if you have air miles. That is full price $35 for 2 hours, and $31 after the discount and taxes. They have general airport wifi, no special fast wifi, but a few computers are available too. The food is kinda simple and cheesy, hot dog minis with mini buns today for lunch, but the soup is good and all drinks are here too. Nice for a layover. The girls cleaning here are really on top of things. Minus 1 star from 4 because of a gross messy wet chair beside me that they can't clean but put a sign on Good decent place. read more

This lounge is alright. It has a different atmosphere than the Maple Leaf Lounge, both of which I used only once so far. They crammed a lot of couches into this place.. still cozy enough though. Food was good here compared to Maple Leaf Lounge. I had: butter beef, oriental noodles and pork dumplings. Service was adequate. The reason I am giving two stars was that there was no soap in the men's room. By the sink was a fairly large dispenser so it was probably empty, with no one coming to refill for quite a while. I don't think it was acceptable. PS: one review made mention of "1-stall for each gender" in the washroom. However there are two urinals and two stalls in the men's room. Might of been some kind of misunderstanding? read more

The Plaza Premium lounge is much better than the Air Canada lounge at Toronto Pearson. You could think it to be pricey, but it offers pretty good value if you've got a long layover or you're early for your flight. If you've got the right American Express card, it's free and a great benefit. The space is spacious, comfortable and clean. Unlike the madhouse at the Air Canada Lounge, even when busy it's still rather manageable at the Plaza Premium lounge. Food options are decent and there is always a hot food option. Again comparing with the AC lounge, it is much better food. Breakfast usually has some form of egg, meat and carb (unlike AC which only provides cold cereal.) The rest of the day also has buffet style hot meal, soup and salad. Oh yeah, there is beer, wine and some liquor as well as snacks like chips, nuts and cookies as well. Whatever you feel like, if you need to eat you'll find something here. Another comparison I'd make is that in general I'd say the food offered here is better than any of the fast food options. read more

I've reviewed quite a few airport lounges, but this is a clear standout as the best. It's not as big as other lounges at some of the US airline's hubs, but it is as near-perfect as can be expected. It has an easy-to-find location near the security checkpoint, so no matter which gate you use, it's on your way, there are showers to relax, comfortable chairs, and soothing music to calm you down about all of the stresses of air travel. There's a conference room if you need to take a meeting, and computers and printer if you want to get work done. Perhaps most importantly, there was restaurant-quality pasta and butter chicken, a selection of soups, a wide range of beverages and snacks, and a top shelf bar selection. Best of all, it doesn't matter which airline you fly, AMEX Platinum or Priority Pass cardholders enter free, and anyone can purchase entry (other AMEX cardholders have a discount.) For US travelers to Canada, always try to get a layover in Toronto - you can go through US customs here on the way home, and spend the rest of your time relaxing in this lounge - a great way to go. read more

Came at Monday 6 pm and the place was pretty busy. They're set up at a temporary location while their regular location in the airport is renovated. The selection is basic, but the meatballs were excellent. Not as good as the airline lounges, but an excellent place to spend your time before your flight. It's an OK lounge. We arrived at 6 am in the morning with a boatload of (rambunctious) kids. This may have been an anomaly. Breakfast food is average. Hash browns are slightly better and softer than cardboard. There's also an egg (or potato?) salad, a corn salad, chopped fruits, croissants and other pastries. I was hoping for an eye opener but there wasn't any booze available at 6 am. That, or maybe the kids emptied the fridge. Seats don't have outlets. read more

This lounge has discounted rates including free for young children. So what does that mean? Well, on my day, it was filled with one crying baby, one crying toddler, and a 7 year old running around the place with little supervision. It does have food and beverage, but the place is so small and today, the noise is so loud, I won't come back. The toddler is touching all the plates, and the mother or staff are doing nothing. A a very frequent traveler i get to visit many lounges. The Plaza Lounge at this airport, is one of the best lounges i have visited in a domestic airport. Much better and much less busy than the Air Canada lounge, you can actually find place to sit, work, rest, and eat with no problem. You require a Platinum American Express card or pay the 35.00 one time fee to access the lounge. The food is very good (usualy 2 choices of a hot meal buffet style, soup, salad - a very nice spread) and good selection of beer, booze and wine. read more

While this lounge might not be as big or fancy as some other ones, it's quite decent and especially with the introduction of the iPad bars taking away a lot of seating by the gates, I always come here for a bit of relaxing before my flight, and to grab a bite to eat. Hot food here is a big plus - I've only been here during mornings, and there's usually some sort of eggs (they've got a somewhat odd flavor/smell but it's passable), hash browns, and breakfast sausage. They have assorted pastries/snacks as well, along with a selection of beverages. A decent amount of comfortable seats, showers to freshen up, business center, and conference room. There's also a decent view of the apron from the windows. It also tends not to get as crowded as the Maple Leaf Lounge, which has to cater to all the business/first and Star Alliance elite passengers. Disappointing. Chairs are dirty and stained. Food quality and choices are low. I actually felt ill after eating. No champagne. I like white wine and both the Chardonnay and Pinot Grigio were undrinkable. And I'm by no means a wine snob. It's like they got the lowest quality possible so no one would drink it. Several other guests agreed. They couldn't even finish their glass let alone go for a second. If this was their intention to save on costs then they succeeded. read more

It's not a Maple Leaf but it is the go to place for AMEX cardholders who want a less crowded place to chill for their next flight. Nothing quite like the Lufthansa first class lounge I experienced in 2009 but well worth a little stop to nosh and lav. read more

First impressions of the room was good! The staff on the other had where very flustered and very unorganised, got the change wrong twice for one the eight members of the group I was in. First impressions of the food was there there could have been more choice on the hot bar. Drinks... Very poor on the stock management a lot of empty wine bottles and empty shelves in the fridge. This is the Amex lounge in domestic terminal 1. It's usually very relaxing and not as hectic as the airline lounges. Comfortable seating, wi fi, shower and food. The food quality is not that good and trays, bottles, etc are often empty so you have to ask staff to replenish. It's pleasant and a nice oasis in a busy airport. Main reason to visit is the quiet, relaxing surroundings and if you're lucky there may be enough wine left for a glass. read more
