We have utilized this facility multiple times to board our 4 year old dog and had nothing but good experiences -- our dog really seemed to enjoy her time there. We just recently went away and boarded her with our 1 year old labradoodle. We communicated with them before dropping off and then at drop off that both dogs should receive the same services. Today, we went to pick them up and looked at the invoices and were very confused. Our labradoodle was kenneled the entire time when we told them that he should be participate in "day care" ie playing with other dogs. Our female beagle, on the other hand. participated in the doggy daycare services. The labradoodle is very large and active, so to find out that he was left in a cage for the entire week is devastating. When we picked him up, he looked extremely anxious and was shaking. We immediately called them back after discovering this on the invoice, and the receptionist was very dismissive and said that her manager wasn't there (at 3:30pm) to explain where the communication breakdown occurred. She kept saying it was our fault, although we told them on three different occasions that the dogs should be receiving the same services. She said he needed to pass a "screener" for the daycare, which is fine, why didn't they do it!? We had called them at least three times as we were worried about the labradoodle while we were away because this is his first time being boarded and we wanted to be sure he is okay. We were told each time he was "doing well, going to the bathroom fine, and playing well with the other dogs." But, were then told he never played with anyone and was stuck in a kennel the entire time? Additionally, we found a charge on our invoice that they were to call us (the charge was listed 3 times) because our labradoodle wasn't moving his bowels. Although we were charged for this, we were never called, which makes me even more concerned -- there was something going on with the dog which they felt compelled to charge us for, but never communicated it to us? read more

I have a german shepherd and a cat who come here for vet & grooming, Love that it is in the same building. The people at reception desk are friendly and sweet. The staff are skilled and efficient. After our vet or groom appt we always stop in the shop for a fresh baked treat :) read more

In visiting this location again it fully resembles the Mt Pleasant facility. The desk staff is personable and helpful. They have added some very professional and capable vets as well. Dr Elson is especially through, well versed on medical issues and friendly. The interior is spotless and the store is fully stocked. Very nice to see. read more

My dog Fergie loves going to doggie day care at pleasant paws. The staff is great (yin can tell they love the dogs). She is always exhausted at the end of the day and she loves to come home and sit nice with the family. Also great to get vet services and grooming while she is at day care. Very convenient. Early drop off hours make it easy to get her to day care before I leave for work. I had my Irish Water Spaniel groomed here a week ago. The grooming was awful. I have had a terrible tie finding a groomer and thought this place looked very professional. I took great pains to explain the grooming essentials of the breed - including DO NOT CUT HIS BEARD. I took a book on the breed complete with photographs. I took grooming diagrams and explanations of how to groom the breed. He had some matting. The groomer assured me that she would "blend" the areas of matting into the rest of his coat. When I finally was told he was ready - 7.5 hours later - and picked him up, he had been shaved all over. There was no blending. The only part of him not shaved was his head which had been trimmed to look like a poodle. The groomer removed all the hallmarks of the breed. In 7.5 hours, a qualified groomer should have had him ready for show. Now, he won't be for at least a year. To add insult to injury, the charge for the grooming was twice what I have ever been charged. I have asked for a refund but have yet to have this confirmed. This was a disastrous grooming experience. I have Also, in spite of sending an email explaining my displeasure, I have not heard a single word of apology. read more

We board our dog here for numerous reasons - one being she has always had extreme health issues and the vet and staff have always taken great care of her. She always runs in and never looks back (which is saying A LOT since she has anxiety). I would HIGHLY recommend this establishment for boarding and daycare. I've debated for quite some time whether to share my experience with Pleasant Paws as I don't typically like leaving negative reviews but feel like I need to share my story. I started going to Pleasant Paws about 18 months ago because they were close to home and figured it would be nice to have a one stop shop for all my dog's needs. My 13 year old miniature Schnauzer started to experience nasal discharge that progressively worstened as time went on. We saw Dr. Mangold, who has terrible bedside manners, and is incompetent in my personal opinion, on several occasions who barely conducted any diagnostic evaluation and instead kept implying that my dog was older and that it could most likely be cancer. At one point she looked up my dog's nose and commented that "oh yeah something is up there" but took no measure to discuss options or thoughts on next steps. I made the decision to contact their affiliated location, Mt. Pleasant, to see if it was possible for my dog to see another vet as I historically have had a fairly positive experience with the staff at this location. I find the front desk staff and the nurses much friendlier than Pleasant Paws. Nurse Sarah, in particular, is amazing! We started to see Dr. Chris who I must say was very sympathetic to our situation as things were beginning to take a greater toll on my dog. We saw Dr. Chris several times, who diagnosed my dog with chronic Rhinitis and Sinusitis and we started another regimen of medication, and nothing was getting better with my dog. At one point I even suggested if it could be her teeth that were contributing to the nasal issues and was told no. By some miracle, I found another Vet in town and chose to get a second opinion as this point my husband and I were prepared to put down our dog. In less than 4 days, we discovered that my poor dog was highly anemic, had stage 2 heart disease, and had very bad dental disease that was definitely contributing to her nasal discharge. Unfortunately, she needed to have 30 teeth extracted but thankfully, now that she is fully heeled, she is doing better than expected and is back to her old playful self. She is now also on heart meds that she will need to be on for the rest of her life. I find it so hard to believe that 2 different vets at Pleasant Paws never properly diagnosed after months of seeing her. Had I not been persistent and chose to see another Vet, my dog would have most likely died in months. I can't speak to the other services they provide, but I cannot in good conscience recommend Pleasant Paws for veterinary care. Lastly, please learn from my huge mistake and ensure you brush your dog's teeth and schedule them for regular dentals. read more

First time we took our dog for grooming was about a year and a half ago. We were so happy with her cut, she got a report card and we thought we'd found our groomer! Tried to book another appointment a few months later and were told they didn't have a groomer any more. About 6 months ago we found out that they had a groomer so we went back. When my dog was dropped off we were told the groomer was running late, they took our dog and because they have daycare, we wrongly assumed she was going to play with the other dogs while waiting. Cut was fine, not as good as the first but figured it was a new groomer. We went a few weeks ago and when we dropped off, again groomer was running late. This time we suspected that our dog was being caged. We waited 2 hours for the groomer to call as they're supposed to do so for directions on cut. We had to call, and at pick up our dog was very anxious. Cut is not good, called and confirmed they are not cage free. Will not return. read more

I so wanted to write a good review but unfortunately, I can't. My dogs' stay was not optimal. I am not sure that the staff reads the instructions or gets the information correct when boarding, nor do they follow protocol listed on the website. I paid for luxury boarding with daycare for 2 dogs (200 per night) · I boarded my dogs from Thursday afternoon with a Tuesday pickup - I never received a report card - website says report card after 3 days. - That did not happen. · On Monday at 11:27 a.m. I received a call that one of my dogs was in season because there was blood on the floor. They asked me which dog was not spayed, now - they should have known that since I submitted veterinarian records. Accordingly, both dogs did not go to daycare that day. · Since daycare starts at 7:00 a.m. why did I not receive a call for 4 hours? Shouldn't the dogs have been in daycare starting at 7:00 a.m. since they were luxury boarded with daycare? · When I made the reservation, I asked for a bath at the end of the stay - after all of that playing, they would need a bath. · When I picked the dogs up they were slightly wet. · Also one of the dogs had nail trimming with Dremel - I did not ask for a nail trim since they were professionally groomed 10 days prior to their stay. Their nails were clearly short. · When leaving, one of my dogs had an accident in the hall - it was a bloody stool (this dog never has loose stool issues and had a solid stool when she was dropped off on Thursday) · When I got her home, she was not in season - no blood anywhere on her or in my home. So, the person taking care of my dog doesn't know the difference between being in season and a bloody stool? I would not expect this from a professional boarding center. · This dog typically is a voracious eater and has had stomach issues for the last 2 days - hopefully she will get her appetite back and have a solid stool · The center did credit me for the daycare and nail Dremel but all I wanted was the ability to speak to a manager. I placed a call at 7:00 a.m. this to speak to the manager, called back around 3:45 and the manager was still not available. · I did get a return call at 5:20 - 40 minutes before closing. Unfortunately, I was not able to pick up. So I am saying all of this because I think this is about the worst experience I ever have had with boarding. And this was luxury boarding. I am incredibly disappointed and never plan on using this company ever again. My dogs are too precious to have people not follow instructions; to not understand the difference between a dog being in season and having a bloody stool; and to not see that nails are short prior to trimming them. I bring my 1 year lab to the doggie day care every day. He just loves it and I love that he has other dogs to socialize with. And the price is very reasonable only $35 per day. When I pick him up after work, he is very happy to see me. His expression on his face says it all. After we get home, he eats his dinner then passes out. A tired dog is a very good dog. I have also visited their pet store which has a variety of items to choose from. (toys, food, treats etc.) this is great because while I wait for them to bring my dog out to me, I take a look into the store and always bring home a special treat for my dogs. I have 4 labs and I have taken all of my dogs for grooming. Sue is excellent. They come home nice and clean and smell like a fresh breeze. Don't you just love it when your dog smells great? We love Pleasant Paws! At first our puppy, Cash (Doberman pinscher) was nervous to go in, but the second time around he had no problem going in the door. The staff is great with him, he always comes back to us after an ear posting without any problems. Recently moved to CT from IL and was quite nervous to try a new vet. This vet came highly recommended from my son and daughter-in-law. I was impressed once we drove up as it was beautiful. Upon entering I was struck by the warm and friendliness combined with professionalism from EVERYONE. As I waited for the vet I watched as one after another client came in for daycare for their pets. Each time the employee approached the animal, calling them by name, the animal showered the employee with love as if meeting an old friend. No thought of cowering with the owner. They pranced off to have a great day in day care. The few pets that I saw coming in for vet services in the early morning were handled with such care and concern. I know this was a great decision. All in all I was treated wonderfully, my dog, Apache loved his visit, I was educated on some important information and notes were written for me to follow up with. Highly recommend! Staff is so friendly and accommodating and they do a great job of communicating. I appreciate that it provides an "all-in-one" service so you don't need to search around for different providers of grooming, daycare, vet, etc. I have a yorkie and take him to daycare and grooming so far and he loves it - I like the report card updates :) read more
