Not gonna lie I was kind of scared to board my dogs here because of some of the reviews but I'm glad I did! It seems many local doggie daycares do group play and sleep. Unfortunately my dogs can't do that. One is scared of other dogs and one can be aggressive. So I liked that Cassio did individual boarding but also let dogs in a family board together. We did the test run overnight with them and all seemed well. So we used them when we had to go out of town for two weeks. I got my babies back in perfect condition! I even added on the grooming service and they looked good! I would definitely use them again when traveling away from home without my dogs. One star off because I wish they would send pics of the dogs throughout the stay. My previous daycare in Florida did and it helps a lot with the anxiety. I did call and ask but got like 2 pics and one vid over the course of the two weeks. 5 stars if they provide pics daily/every other day. read more

I was very skeptical because of the reviews. However, I was visiting the area for the weekend and my dog was freaking out when left alone in the hotel, so I didn't have much of a choice. Firstly, I called probably 20 other places in the area and Cassio was the only place that answered their phone on a Saturday morning, which I greatly appreciated. They didn't need to do a meet and greet, which every other place that I spoke to seemed to require in advance. Upon arrival, I shared that my dog is scared of other dogs and can be aggressive when there's toys or food around because he's possessive. They let me know that they don't do group play or keep multiple dogs in a space together which I was happy to hear. They said that during the operating hours, minus a break from 12-3, someone would always be with my dog. We only boarded him at Cassio for about five hours on a Saturday and Sunday, so I'm not sure what the overnight protocol is. There seemed to be a fair amount of staff members each day and the services were fairly priced. It cost about 41$ each day. The only thing I was hesitant about was that they required his collar to be removed, which has an Apple air tag on it, so that made me nervous because I was worried he'd somehow escape the facility. They remove all collars and leashes so the dogs don't get caught on the cages and get hurt, so it makes sense. The facilities seem very large, there were multiple outside areas that had large fences around them, and an open air cage area that had an overhead covering. We weren't offered a tour of the facility, but we also didn't ask. This was our first time doing a doggy day care situation, so we weren't sure of the protocol but I wish I would've asked to see where my dog would be spending a few hours. Overall, if I had to do it again, I would use Cassio for doggy daycare. read more

Cassio Pet Resort & Training Center--I just drove past this place and got PTSD from when my dog stayed here. From the moment we arrived, she didn't even want to go inside, which should have been a warning sign. When we picked her up, she was clearly distressed and immediately peed outside--only for us to realize she was urinating blood. She had developed a stress-induced UTI, likely from the constant barking, the lack of grass to relieve herself, and the horrible setup. The entire facility was just concrete, with a grate at the end where the dogs were expected to pee and poop. The lodging situation is terrible. The enclosures are extremely narrow, about half the width of a king-sized bed, giving the dogs very little room to move around. They eat, sleep, and go to the bathroom all in the same space. Since they aren't taken outside for bathroom breaks, they have no choice but to relieve themselves in the area where they sleep. The facility is all concrete, making it an uncomfortable and unsanitary environment. It's heartbreaking to think about how stressful and unhygienic this must be for the dogs. It literally looks like a prison. If your dog is home-trained and used to a comfortable environment, I would NOT recommend bringing them here. - Below is a photo of her "pee" when we picked her up, showing the blood in her urine. read more

The groomer, i believe her name was Patty- was not very welcoming seeing as though it was my first time there , i was asking questions about the style of cut for my little baby and how long she thinks she'd take and she was not the nicest. We boarded our dog there for a week. Upon drop off we were told that there were over 70 Dogs there. This was very concerning to me. Upon pickup our dog was filthy. It seems as if they tried to wash him as he was wet when he was picked up. There was practically no food gone from what was dropped off. He looked thin so we weighed him when he got home. He lost 3 lbs. during his stay at Cassio. this is significant as he is only 25 lbs. I would not recommend this center based on our experience. read more

I recently boarded my dogs at Cassio kennels as I had a trip planned. One of my dogs has cardiac issues and allergies and I was very hesitant about leaving him. He absolutely has to have his medication twice each day. I picked them up yesterday and all went quite well. The dog with cardiac issues had been given his medication and looked really good. My other dogs did very well there. I would recommend them to anyone who needs to board their dogs. read more

Safe place. Lots of service options, nice quiet spot off the road for the dogs to relax. Prices are high, surcharges are often and for whatever reason they can think of. No visits allowed to see the facility (they do offer open house every few weeks) and no video options to check on your pet of status in the kennel. So, ok experience when needed, but can't call it care free and they can't offer any transparency. "Just trust us" does't fly these day with our fury loved ones. read more

It is with regret that I write a negative post. I live in Massachusetts and our family was planning on traveling to the New Jersey Shore for a summer vacation. My wife's family lives in Danbury and her sister fosters dogs and as such we asked her for a referral regarding boarding our 2 dogs. We were referred to 2 places and decided to board our dogs at Cassio. My first impression upon driving up the hill towards the boarding area was quite positive. However, upon bringing our dogs into the rather cramped waiting area, my opinion changed. This was mostly based on the "receptionists" lack of knowledge and his overall poor customer service presentation. Based on the overall "noise" I did ask about maybe taking a look around. I thought that this was a reasonable request given that my dogs would be staying there for around $70/night. I was politely told that if I wanted to "tour" the facility I could do so but the "first available" was at least 2 weeks away. Not very reassuring. So, in short, I left feeling somewhat unimpressed. I am ultimately leaving my first post on Yelp because of the events that ensued. As noted, we boarded our dogs with the thought of perhaps developing a long term relationship with Cassio as we are often in the Danbury area both while staying in Danbury and also traveling. On the morning of returning I called and asked very nicely about picking up the dogs around 12:45-1:00 PM as I was coming back at that time from the Jersey Shore. I was told (as is noted on their website) that they are closed between Noon and 3PM. I therefore had to spend 2 hours waiting for the kennel to re-open. I did speak with Joy, the owner, about this and it is clear that this is a "policy" that is steadfast. In brief, I am writing this because as a customer I find it abhorrent that: 1) I am spending more money to board my dogs than if I stayed in a hotel and I couldn't look at the facility (there is no video streaming option) when I dropped my dogs off. 2) More importantly, they are in the business of providing service and somehow it is OK to not work with their customer's to accommodate their needs in terms of pickup hours. I am not talking about midnight folks. This is during the afternoon!! Be aware that if you want to board your dog's here there is apparently NOBODY around between Noon and 3PM to help you. Hopefully, nothing medically happens to your dog between those hours because I guess you and your dog would be out of luck!!!!! read more

One Sentence: Clean, Friendly, have never had an incident, just keep in mind their hours!!! I have taken my two Labs to Cassio for over 3 years, now, and it really is the best around. My two absolutely love going there. They drag me into the door, and don't even look back to say goodbye, they're so excited. I have them board together, and the price is very good! They give VIP discounts to long-standing customers, and are always friendly and kind, and you can tell they're all animal lovers. They always come home as clean and happy as when I drop them off. They have grooming, classes and a cattery, but I have never used any of these features. They have outdoor "K9 Kabanas", which I have also never used, so I can't comment on those. They have very strict hours, with regards to leaving or picking up your pet. I believe it's 8:15am-11:45am, and then 3-5:30pm. It's not super convenient, but once you get used to it, you begin to plan for it. Parking is always available, but it can get busy during certain times, like 8:15, and 12 - you could wait 5 minutes until you're able to go inside. Again, if you know about it, you can plan for it. I don't love that you can't leave their own toys or bedding, but I understand they're responsible for your pet, and know what's best. My 'kids' have never seemed to mind. They have "personal time" for boarders, and it can involve any activity you specify, and are sure to take notes on what you don't want / can't have. I would recommend this place to anyone, anyone who's worried about leaving their pets, or worried about finding them a great place. read more

We have been boarding our dogs at Cassio for the last eight years. Each visit they have been well taken care of and returned safely to us with a happy demeanor. The staff is always friendly and accomodating. We have our dogs stay together which really helps their comfort level. They have their toys, treats and daily play time. I think they get extra attention from the staff, all of whom know their names, personalities and seem to be real animal lovers. I have also completed the basic obedience class with two of our puppies. We had a great time socializing with the other owners and animals. The dogs learned all of the basic commands and the instructor also helped us with problem behaviors like excessive barking, nipping and jumping up. In all areas, we've had a great experience at Cassio! read more

There is no way i can sugar coat this. I was warned but given the convenience I had hoped I would have a better outcome then what I have heard around town and read. Nope, I even chose to let their rudeness and "tude" not be the issue for me as it was all about my dogs care. Once I caught them lying to me, that was the end! I had picked up my dog after specific instructions to be sure he relieves himself. He did, as soon as I picked him up in my car! When I returned inside and explained what just happened they said maybe he got excited as they assured me he had been walked just a couple hours ago. I said I will have him checked for a urinary infection as German Shepherds (mine included) don't have accidents in cars-ever! Got home which is 20 minutes away and let him outside. He peed for over a minute and had not relieved himself in at least 12 hours based on my knowledge of my dogs bladder and behavior. Aside from my issues it's plain sad that these people can't run an honest establishment. Oh, and they require vaccinations for the dogs but not for themselves as they don't believe in vaccinations for the staff apparently.The end.... read more

I felt as though I was an inconvenience from the minute I walked in the door, they couldn't get rid of me fast enough. Nope! Picked my dog up from this place and he was petrified. He has been at numerous other boarding places over the years without any issues. In fact, our dog seems to love to get away, but I have never seen him so upset. I even took him to the vet to make sure nothing was wrong with him. Thankfully, nothing physical and he seems to be doing better. The people seemed distracted and not too friendly. The facilities seem like they need updating. Maybe they were nice 15-20 years ago, but it seems like it needs some rehab. Won't be back. read more

DO NOT TAKE YOUR PETS HERE!!! It was the worst boarding experience ever. The staff was oblivious to everything and utterly confused. They couldn't find (and worse - didn't even seem to know that my dogs had) my dogs medicines! Also the customer who picked up before us had the same issue because he was waiting around while they searched for his and almost couldn't find it! They gave our dog her medicine without food even though we specified it must be. Both of our dogs came home dehydrated and starving. I would never take my dogs there again. I can only speak for the training center part of Cassio as I have never boarded my pet at the facility. Unfortunately, we did not have a good experience with our pet. The trainer, Jane, was very good and helpful. The classes for puppy socialization and level one were fairly basic. We did not agree, however, with the way our dog was handled when we had to be away from them for training purposes based upon eye witness reports from other members in the class. While, I don't think any irreparable harm was done, I don't agree with some of their practices. We were able to use some of their basic principles coupled with a good training book and our dog is doing well. read more

I recently (February 2011) used Cassio Kennels to board three of my Greater Swiss Mountain Dogs. I had previously used a chain that has several CT locations, but much preferred the indoor/outdoor boarding that Cassio offers. In my opinion, fresh air makes for a cleaner, more germ-free environment than the all-indoor facilities. Their rates were also more reasonable than many of the other boarding kennels in this part of CT, with multiple pet discounts, and VIP programs if you spend over $500 or $1000 per year with them (won't be a problem for me!) Most importantly, my three girls were very well cared for, and came out as happy and clean as when I dropped them off. I will definitely be using Cassio in the future. read more

We boarded our 3 girls (choc lab, boxer, and a pit bull) here over Easter weekend. First time any of them had ever been boarded. Two of the dogs are seniors, I was nervous to say the least. It went perfect. Two of them that are very bonded were allowed to stay together, one needed medication administered, no problem! We didn't add on any extra services since it was a short weekend trip but will next time. The hours are strict, they are closed 12-3, but knowing that ahead of time you should plan accordingly. Cassio is a wonderful kennel and they have the staff to compliment it. My Australian Shepherd has a bit of separation anxiety but when he goes in for grooming, he comes out looking like he is ready for a dog show! Extremely reasonable prices too! They are VERY specific about pick up and drop off times and it is advertised everywhere from the time you enter the driveway and all over the office. I recommend it highly! read more

NO STARS!!! 7/25/11 ASOLUTELY would not recommend! Our dog went in healthy and came out with Kennel Cough and other stress related issues. Mind you...all vaccinations are up to date, even Bordetella. Also...I asked for 1/2hr. swim a day for length of stay. (4 days) They only took him out once during his entire stay. Reason...too busy, they had no one to take him out. WHAT!!! Terrible Care! I left my dog there for 6 days. When I picked him up, I was immediately told he was very sleepy - they were trying to cover up for why he barely opened his eyes. That's not why his eyes were so droopy. Turns out his cornea was badly scratched - by himself or another pet there I can't be sure. At any rate, they didn't care to point this out to me. This has never happened at the other place he was kenneled several times - and they had open boarding but regretfully closed due to own of the owners passing away. He was supposed to get eye drops twice daily - lots left in the bottles, so not sure if he actually got them. Either way, he is miserable and now has to go back to the very expensive eye doctor for treatment. Don't take your pets there - they clearly just want your money and to play CYA. FOLLOW UP: The owner LIED about several things in their comment, especially when he said my dog was in the same condition when dropped off! They were made aware that he had dry and cloudy eye issues, which is WHY he needed the drops twice per day! His eyes were wide open when he was dropped off. 6 days later he is walking into walls because it's too painful to open his eyes! We are now $750 into vet bills for a condition CAUSED by CASSIO's obvious neglect - a fact clearly agreed to by the animal eye vet, who said he wouldn't have had these problems or gone through such horrendous pain if his medicine had been given as prescribed. He also agrees with me that he will NEVER recommend any of his clients send their pets to this joke of a "resort" - definitely no vacation for my pet! He loves staying there and I know this because he can't wait to get out of the car when we pull into the driveway, and is greeted nicely by the employees. We recently moved back to New England and needed a kennel for the weekend and this place had decent reviews so we tried it out. First off, if you just want a basic review/recommendation I would strongly advise looking elsewhere. If you want to know why, read on. There were two girls there when I dropped my dog off which I accidentally did 10 mins late because they have separate hours for drop off and office hours which I didn't notice. I had planned to bring him earlier but was getting things ready to leave for a weekend trip and got behind which happens but I thought I was just being a bit last minute, not actually late. When told of this I apologized and made a mental note of it. Not only did the girl who told me look visibly annoyed at this (some people aren't good at hiding their feelings in customer service, that's why I don't like working in it myself but it's still pretty important) and between the two of them it was brought up at least 3 more times to the point that I had to say, Okay, I get it, I apologized though and can't change it now....at which point one of the girls made another comment saying "Good thing he didn't need any vaccines..." to which I responded that I knew he didn't because I had made a specific trip to bring them earlier in the week like they asked. This is another negative to this location over the other kennels I have used in past since those were always fine with bringing them that day. I actually called to complain about this because I found it rude and unprofessional and the girl I spoke with apologized well enough that I would have gotten over that entirely but things sort of added up when I picked him up. We were going to pick him up Sunday evening but since we were driving back from out of state we realized it'd be later than expected when we got back and we had to pay for an extra day since we didn't get him before noon anyway so we called to ask if they had room for him to stay until Monday and if they could use some of their food for him if his ran out. They said that was fine so I picked him up around 11:15 Monday morning. Actually, I tried to then and had to leave to get more cash because I never have over a 100 in cash on me and never carry checks since nowhere else I go to requires them. So once I got cash from an ATM nearby I got my dog who appeared fine but unfortunately very energetic. At this point I noticed how much dog food was in the bag I left and it seemed like a lot since I had measured out his food and only left an extra cup which should have been used that extra night he spent. I asked about this and the receptionist said they don't feed them the morning they leave to avoid them getting sick in the car. I feel like this should be a policy done by request only since if your dog is used to being fed at 7 or 8 am and has to wait several hours extra without you knowing they would likely feel much worse. Our has in past vomited due to not eating within an hour or two of when he is used to eating. So essentially I have no idea if my dog was given kennel food unnecessarily (which would usually bother his digestion due to a sudden change and I try to avoid) or if they entirely forgot to feed him a few times. He should not have had extra food left and there were 3 and a half cups, which is over a full day's worth of food for him, when I picked him up. So to summarize: Pros: -reasonable prices -dog came back uninjured -they did not lose his toys or him (these are basics but I'm trying to acknowledge pros) Cons: -had to make a special trip to that area to show vet records unlike any other kennel we have used before -strange pickup hours which vary from business office hours -only accept cash or check even for large payments -very inconsistent customer service -humans are around for less of the day than I am used to with other kennels, including one I worked at myself -not able to play with other dogs so my dog came back antsy and energetic instead of tired like is usually nice after a kennel trip -my dog either was given the kennel's food or was not fed part of his stay - luckily he is physically fine from this but it makes me feel bad that be may have felt ill and if someone's dog required special food or had food allergies it could be a major problem and at the least your dog will be hungry the pickup day until you are able to get them and bring them home and feed them The kennel may respond to this as they have to other reviews but to that I merely say there is nothing they can say that would fix any of these things, they are either inconvenient business practices or things they can't guarantee to me, such as what my dog was fed. I care too much about my dog to leave him somewhere I can't trust and I would recommend any other pet owner that cares about theirs look elsewhere for boarding as well. read more

We're done with Cassio's. We've used them a couple of times, but after this time, there are other quality kennel's around. One of our dogs needs to have a thyroid pill twice daily. Instead of paying the staff, per pill, to administer them, we put them in a pill pocket and included that in pre-packaged zip lock bags of daily food. However, our bill had a charge as if they had given the dog her pills. When we pointed out that the pills were mixed in the food, and they didn't actually administer the pills, more than one staff person argued with us as to why the charge made sense! For a situation that could easily have been set straight, the staff telling us why we were in the wrong is an epic fail. read more
