They responded quickly and solved the problem, but it was EXPENSIVE. We were charged almost $300 to replace a toilet flapper and one other part. The parts total from home depot are no more than $30. I get that we are also paying for labor, but in my mind, the markup was crazy. We did end up going with them because we own a home 1000 miles away (we live in IL - our home is in TX) and would have to pay just as much to fly back and fix it ourselves, but in the future, I'd shop around for more affordable options. read more

We had a problem on a Friday afternoon that could have caused a lot of damage to our house. Was able to schedule Friday night service and the cost was pretty good considering it was weekend, after hours service. The plumber did a great job and was very careful to explain to me what he did and why. After completion, he again went over what was done and made sure all my questions were answered. We first used Plumb Doctors (then called Plumb Masters) two years ago when the toilet started backing up at our previous house. Joe came out, did a thorough assessment, and found we had root intrusion from a nearby live oak. Joe turned what was looking like a $50K+ problem (tunneling under the slab foundation) into $2K through a creative (and code-compliant) solution. Joe's honesty, professionalism, and skill made him our go-to plumber. When we were looking to buy a new house last year, we had Joe come out to do a thorough inspection. He found that the main sewer line had settled and no longer ran at the right slope, causing sections to be completely flooded. He provided a reasonable quote as well as a video of the issue that we provided to the sellers who agreed to split the cost. We had the work completed last month, and it was completely seamless. Joe and his team came early and stayed late to ensure we weren't without water for any more time than was needed. They were always in close contact so we knew the status of each stage of work as well as the inspection. Andrew also got involved along the way who is also fantastic. Finally, we had Joe and Andrew (of course) replace our water heater a few weeks ago which was also a great experience. They provided a quote in range of other similar shops and had the installation down to a science. In and out. We hope we're at the end of our plumbing needs for a while, but if anything comes up, we know we're in good hands! read more

After another company did a "quick job" to fix a leak from a pipe fitting underground near our water supply, we began to experience severe water pressure fluctuations. I called Plumb Doctors because of their good ratings. Master Plumber Josh was very nice, knowledgeable and was able to accurately diagnose our probable difficulty. He returned the next day and did a great job replacing our water pressure regulator and checking out and fixing other smaller problems he found. We got a leak in our first floor ceiling that spread over 2 rooms and a passage. We could not figure out where the leak was coming from. Called Plumb doctors and as usual, they were on the job within an hour of the call. This time we were helped by Alexander Matej. We had to turn off the hvac as he suspected that to be the cause. He worked in 90 degrees heat in the middle of the night to fix it. He did not leave till the time he figured out the exact problem. Big thanks to him and the team at Plumb doctors. I had a backed up sink that my 10' snake couldn't get to. I was busy with other stuff and decided to use the Plumb Doctors, knowing they would have a longer snake. They guy who came out was really nice and helpful. He snaked the line and was done in 25 minutes. I was charged $378.00 to snake a kitchen sink line. In my opinion this is way over priced. I was expecting to pay $200, at most. Service was great but the price was way over the top. read more

So I called these guys at 9pm on a Saturday b/c that seems to be when leaks happen. They gave me a 1am arrival time, but were willing to come that night. They arrived at 10pm, were super friendly and professional (despite having a 12+ hour day so far), quickly assessed the immediate issues and stopped the leak. They identified a root cause analysis, consulted me on how to find replacement fixtures, and quickly scheduled the follow up to do the replacements once the fixtures arrived. read more

Price to install a $40-70 water heater expansion tank, $451. Price to install a $30-50 water heater drip pan, $406. Neither involves much more work than turning a bolt. Maybe this is par for the course in Austin, but either way it's a screw job. I'd strongly advise driving by Home Depot and furnishing these items yourself. They come when you need them the most and are punctual. Costs are a little higher but service is good. I have been happy with them.
