Arie responded to a call to a rental house. When he called for payment and I was not aware of it (since renters called him), he became quite irate (since I was not aware of the job). He demanded payment immediately or risk a lien. Fast forward 1 week. I had told Arie he would receive payment but give me 1-2 weeks to get payment form the tenant. He went ahead and filed a lien for double the cost, even though payment was received 10 days within the work being done. Returned from a trip on a Friday evening and found a flood in my garage stemming from a perforated copper elbow in the water heater piping. I shut off the main to stop the leak thus leaving us without water in the house. Spent all day Saturday trying to get a plumber. Two showed up with absurdly high estimates to replace a simple copper elbow and add a new shutoff valve. In essence, both of these plumbers redefined the solution to my problem which would require all of the piping associated with the water heater to be replaced thus generating an estimate that was beyond belief . On Sunday, I continued my research on Yelp and came across a company named PLUMBCO, and specifically its owner Arie who does the actual servicing himself. Being a fairly handy person with a general knowledge of plumbing, I was able to read his many reviews with a critical lens, specifically looking for clues as they related to reliability, punctuality, workmanship and fairness of pricing. Arie met all of these criteria and I decided to give him a call Sunday morning. He picked up the phone, a rarity in my experience, and stated that he was actually working in the area and would come over and take a look. He asked for a brief description of the problem with some pics that I texted to him. He responded within minutes, provided me with a price that I could live with given my situation , and the fact that it was Sunday. He committed to the job and provided a time of arrival. He called me again in transit to our home with an updated ETA . Bottom line , he showed when he stated he would and spent the next two hours completing the job which involved replacing the perforated elbow, eliminating some redundancy in the piping and adding another shutoff valve which would allow me to isolate the heater from the main pipe that services the entire house should a similar emergency present itself in the future. This would ensure that we would at least have cold water running in the house. Being a tinkerer myself over half a century, I can recognize a skilled craftsman by the way he handles his tools and by how creative and efficient his thought process is in completing his work. He is a quick thinker and very efficient in his work. He takes pride in his work and will not hesitate to redo something if he's not completely happy with it. His work ethic really impressed me because it is an exception rather than the rule , at least within my own experience of dealing with service providers for over half a century. And last, but not least, I found his pricing to be very fair and reasonable given the circumstances and scope of our transaction. I have already recommended him to two of my neighbors and will not hesitate to do the same in the future to people who require the services of an excellent plumber.
