I am sharing my numbers openly because I hope my experience helps someone else choose a company that prices honestly. I had my water heater replaced by Plumbing Care and I could not be happier. I found them through a condo neighbor. Before I called them I had already collected quotes from five other companies for the same job -- a 40/50 gallon power vent gas water heater in a boiler room in my condo. Here is what I was quoted in August 2026: Jazz Heating, Cooling, Plumbing & Electrical (Pleasanton): $7,585 for a 50 gallon power vent tank, or $9,235 tankless after a 5% discount. Fast Home Services, through Home Depot: about $2,279 over the phone (Atmospheric (no power vent) 40 gallon model with installation), then $6,602 in writing after the visit. Three other licensed companies: $4,000 to $4,500. Plumbing Care: their standard price is $3,400, and $3,200 only for our complex (the price may vary depending on the model and time). AI search results show that the reasonable price range for the Tri-Valley area is $3,000-$4,500 The price was very competitive and honest price, and more importantly, they really care for their customer. Fernando did the installation and was careful and thorough from start to finish. The job turned out to have several complications nobody had anticipated, and he worked through every one of them without cutting corners and without coming back to me with surprise charges. Honest pricing and careful work is exactly what you want from a plumber, and it is exactly what I got. Keep researching for another company. We had to pay almost $1000 for a "Rinnai tankless water heater - heat exchange replacement after installing a new one for $2500 precisely one year and two months ago. It was the this same company that installed the new one. Manufacturer warranted the parts but we had to pay 1000$ for the labor. They did not accommodate at all the fact They did the work one year and two months ago. Verrry expensive and unreasonable outfit! read more

Ricardo showed up ahead of schedule, our painters exposed the pipe that we hidden from view. The pipe replaced and new spigot put in. The technician was not very knowledgeable to begin with. He also left some garbage in the garage and left a bucket of drained water. The technician's solution was to replace the psv valve from gitgo versus trying to analyze the problem. The psv was installed two years ago by the same company. In addition, he got us the wrong valve initially and tried to invoice additional amount for replacing another valve. Another person showed up with the new valve and he was very knowledgeable. I would not recommend the technician assigned to our job. read more

I wanted an automatic shutoff valve to install in my home in case of a water break/leak. I called plumbing' care and they said they install the Flo Moen. Made an appointment and Alex came out to install it. The next day I noticed that the Moen App wasn't updating the water usage and flow rate, so Moen couldn't learn what is a typical water flow in my house and usage is. I called Plumbing Care and Alex came out the same day! He called Moen, attempted to troubleshoot it but no luck. Moen then said that they will send a replacement part. They did, I received it and called Plumbing Care again to install it. Alex and Alexis came out the next day and installed it and all is working well!!! Watching these plumbers try to figure out what was wrong with my plumbing and causing my leak was like watching THE THREE STOOGES. THEY WERE CLUELESS! The poorest communication and service I've ever received from any kind of a business. They cut into and ripped open numerous drywall portions of my garage, including areas that didn't even have pipes. They obviously didn't have the proper equipment nor the knowledge to know there were no pipes in the walls that they were tearing the drywall off. That created an expense that I have to pay out of pocket to repair that is not covered under the contract with them through HomeServe, my Plumbing insurance company. I called in a bit of a panic/emergency as I found a leak in the wall of my garage right around the fire suppression pipe, and quickly discovered the disconnect/shut off valve had failed. Pablo was dispatched within the hour and was able to help get the water shut off, isolate the leak rather quickly and help determine what needed to be done to fully repair the entire situation. He didn't have the parts on-hand (it was late in the day unfortunately for me), and though he tried his best, we did have to shut the water off for the night. The following morning though, he really hit the ground running! The entire leak/problem was solved, new shut off valves installed, and water service restored well before noon! I knew the cost was going to be a bit high, since the pipes were copper and we needed 2 full shut off valves replaced, but even with this the price for parts and labor was quite reasonable! I really appreciate the effort Pablo made, knowing that the odds were against him at the start without the proper parts, and with being transparent and honest with what was needed for the repairs. Fantastic experience in replacing pressure regulation valve replacement in the front yard

Water heater installation was completed as requested. All new parts were used: drip pan, securing straps, water connection hoses, and 8 yr warranty water heater. Also, 2 pieces of 2x4 wood were used to keep water heater securely strapped away from the wall. There was a mixup initially where service tech thought he came over to give estimate but I told him he was there to install water heater. This resulted in some delay as he had to go back to store to get the desired water heater. Due to inconvenience, he gave a discount off the estimate. While the problem appears to have been addressed, I find myself dissatisfied with the replacement of one of the hose bibs. Despite our request for a longer pipe to be left protruding, this was overlooked. Additionally, the new pipe has been installed at an awkward angle, resulting in a less than tidy appearance. In all fairness, two other bibs were replaced satisfactorily, and I have no complaints about that.
