Great pool bar / grill at the J Dub Starr Pass. Nice selection of premium quality patio grill food and beverage, and love that it's a very very casual spot at an otherwise 5 star resort. TV allows for watching the game, and the fact that it's a large covered patio with lots of ceiling fans makes it a place you can enjoy even when it's quite warm out.

Not bad food and drinks selection. The chicken tenders and fruit smoothies are great. Sometimes hard to track down a server when at the pool, but service is great all around. Very nice and make sure you have everything you need while enjoying the pool.

Absolutely the best service I've had from a restaurant in a long time. Waiters were super nice, food was very good. Highly Recommend.

Dirty tables and patio, not to mention the bathroom. Slow service and mediocre food at astronomical prices.

So many higher-end expensive restaurants serve bland, tasteless food, meanwhile this amazing mid-ranged restaurant is serving some of the best dishes I've ever had. The smashed chicken was probably the best chicken dish I have ever had at a restaurant. The skin was perfectly crispy while the meat was juicy and well-seasoned. The ginger and herb salsa verde was so fresh and aromatic. The cilantro rice complimented the lemongrass aioli perfectly. Everything was seasoned perfectly, and I'm usually one to reach for the salt shaker at most restaurants. Smoked olives are a concept I have never considered before. It's a concept that was executed perfectly here. So savory, flavorful, and complex. I'd love to have a few with a dirty martini. Speaking of drinks, my Casino gin cocktail was great. Perfect level of sweetness and tartness. I knew I had to order dessert after how good everything else was, even though I am usually not a dessert person. The oolong tea cake was nothing short of incredible. The tea flavor was subtle but paired well with the fluffy and light honey buttercream. Not too sweet at all. Of course, the service was great too. Our waiter was very attentive and personable. My first experience at 5 points made me realize that this is what restaurants should strive to be. I can tell there is passion poured into every dish with every ingredient thoughtfully melded together. I can't wait to bring everyone I know here so they can experience this too!!

The drink menu is extensive- everyone loved what they ordered, and there were several other things we wanted too! The shrubs and Coca Cola with espresso were the favorite picks. We tried the orange almond (gluten free!) cake, which was amazing. We also tried the banana cake with tahini cream. My main course of kale Caesar salad was amazing, and the portion was so generous I had lunch for two days! Everyone else raved about their food. The service was so friendly and helpful. The location was spacious and airy. Highly recommend you check it out!

We came two nights for dinner as the first night was a hit for service, food and desired atmosphere. Its a casual to semi formal atmosphere but I can see a little relaxed casual in jeans or some sneaker paired attire. Outside seating was our preferred option on both days as the weather and tree with stringlighting decor set the tone. The staff were very attentive. The menu was pretty easy with a great selection of meal options but not excessive. This gave way to the chefs/cooks being able to serve up meals with precision, taste and presentation. First night dining- We chose cocktails Thai Grapefruit Martini and Fig and Ginger mule. These were made with perfection. We also ordered an Italian Espressotini. We decided on crispy calamari, greek salad, short rib ravioli. The service and food was so good we went a second night following. Second night dining We decided for drinks watermelon Spritz that was rimmed with a slice of watermelon and an unsweetened icetea. Meals were crispy calamari, short rib ravioli and Bolognese. Yet again the drinks and food were prepared to perfection. The food was light and very flavorful. The experience and food was so good that this will be the measure for dining in the future.

We came during May, when it starts to get warm, but he did well since there is a good amount of shade out on their patio and they provided a nice big water bowl for our special boy. The staff also were kind enough to move one of our chairs out of the way so our dog had lots of room to lay down. Staff were all very kind and never seemed annoyed with the dog (you can always tell at a restaurant if they are, and they were very happy to accommodate him). Very dog friendly!! The food: We gotta talk about their French onion soup. It was pretty dang delicious! The broth itself is quite nice, a nice cheese portion, and the baguette was divine. I also had their French Connection sandwich (with a side of fries), and it had a great combo of ooey, gooey cheese, firm and flavorful ham, and served on a really delicious loaf. Really solid fries, too. We didn't end up getting any drinks but saw several people ordering yummy looking bites. If (but likely when) we come back to Tucson, I'm making a point to return to Cup Cafe!

A pleasant surprise! We were near downtown on a sleepy Monday morning, and hoped to find a place to…read moregrab a breakfast. My wife pulled out her trusty phone, where she soon was directed to the highly-rated Raptor Canyon Cafe. So off we went. A warm and sincere greeting was the first of many pleasant things that we would experience in the next 45 minutes or so. The attitude and warmth of the staff here is exceptional. One really feels appreciated and welcomed while here. (*at least, my wife and I did) The place is decorated with a cute desert-Southwest vibe. A large building-sized mural of Father Kino mounted upon his rock-pony, is framed by the cute windows that look out on the quiet downtown streets. "Comfortable, with a slight splash of a mid-1970's Tucson cafe" is the energy I felt as we dined. One of my favorite things in the place is a steel-welded hawk figurine that is perched above the stately kitchen door. I imagined him tapping gently as he sat above the busy floor. And quoth the raptor, "The quesadilla is fy-orre". (Yes, I know, "floor", and "fire" don't really rhyme.) I never said I could spit fire (street lingo for being able to rhyme well.) My wife broke-character and ordered a breakfast sandwich. She normally goes for something more exotic, but as it turns out, this choice was a hit. Sometimes, simple things can offer great pleasures-and her egg and bacon filled biscuit offered proof of this statement. I listened to the imagined whisper of the watchful hawk, and decided to follow his raptorial wisdom/advice. Soon, the bacon quesadilla was placed before me (see photo). I added a splash of the locally produced hot sauce offered with a bit of ketchup and it all came together beautifully. The textures of the grilled tortilla; the barely not too hot melted cheese, and the crispy thick slices of bacon were as close to perfection that plate of breakfast could come. It really was good-eating in the neighborhood. We both ordered the fried potatoes with peppers and onions. If you go and don't get one of these, it will be a rookie move. Do not forget to order this side...esta muy bueno! It is actually a lot of food, and my better-half and I agreed that we could have split the dish. But, as we stood to say our good-byes and thank you's, neither of our plates had any evidence that fried potatoes had recently rested upon them. They actually looked like they had just been taken from the dishwasher--spot less. All-and-all, this place quickly worked its way into my heart. It's got wonderful chow (just In case I didn't emphasize how tasty is was--it was "really-really-really" good eats). The entire Raptor Canyon's staff shared pleasant demeanors, and the place has a comfortable and welcoming ambiance. Officially, I would categorize this establishment as a, "hidden gem" of Tucson. You have my permission to go there, but please keep it, "on the down-low "so that it doesn't get too popular. (*wink)

Wait times for food can be a bit longer due to the crowds of people, but I didn't mind it as long as some food and drinks trickled in. We had the following dishes: Bitter green salad: it was definitely bitter but balanced with some sweetness from the tomatoes. No complaints here! Pork shoulder dish: I can't remember the description but I thought some pork pieces were a bit bland, but the flavors were good. Steak: This is not featured in my photos but it's a steak dish that came with garlic potatoes and straw fries. My favorite parts were the fries and potatoes. The steak was bland and really could have used a chimichurri sauce. Duck confit white mole: WOW! Crispy duck with a delicious mole sauce. I wish there was more of this dish!!!! Malaysian curry with fried tofu: another incredible dish with lots of flavors, but it needed more curry to match the amount of rice etc. Roasted broccolini: It came with some sort of sesame sauce and coconut flakes and wow, I thoroughly enjoyed this dish! Beet cavatelli: another excellent dish. Overall, probably closer to a 4.5 here but I'll round up. There were a few minor things in execution of the dishes, but honestly, the ones that hit really hit the mark for sure. Drinks were all tasty as well! Ambiance/Cleanliness- It's clean and welcoming. Lots of warm brown accents and whitewashed walls. Very dimly lit. The courtyard is charming and cosmopolitan. The tables are fairly lightweight and slide easily. 4 stars. Service-Sarah was our server and she was wonderful. She answered all questions with warmth and patience. She brought out all wines by-the-glass for my dining companion to sample. When I made a comment about the aguachile...she subtracted it from the check. Best of the best. 5 stars Food-Mixed bag...The Midnight salad was lovely, but the texture of the vegan mozzeralla was odd and did not compliment the otherwise flavorful and vibrant dish. The bruschetta with chorizo was rich, bold and satisfying. The sea bass of the aguachile was cubed in too-big of a cut and unpleasantly fishy. We both ordered the steak dish which in reality was an unconstructed charred Caesar salad with steak. We asked for medium steak and got medium rare. It was quite chewy and may have sounded like a good. idea on paper...but it wasn't. I didn't finish it. The brown brown butter Tres Leches was one of the top desserts of my life..simply brilliant. The inconsistency in food ruined what could have easily been a five star experience. 3 stars
