Hired PMC again. This time to top off a couple of citrus trees, take down a pear tree, and trim an avocado tree with branches that extended to the neighbor's side of the fence and also very close to touching the power lines. They took down the pear tree by hand. Again, Martin and crew did a great job. They even helped me harvest the avocados. I called last week to have massive mature bamboo plants removed. It was going to interfere with power lines and in some places was over 80 feet tall. We were so stressed about it! An old Italian man came out -- gave us a very competitive bid and showed up two days later. His team of five had the bamboo chain sawed, mulched and taken care of in 4 hours. I was amazed! PMC is a local company and I used to use them for my garden in Willow Glen. They claimed to be more than mow and blow, but they were not. I stopped using them years ago. This week PMC cut down a series of beautiful, old trees without a permit. In fact, the permit had been denied several times and so they intentionally cut them down on an early Sat. morning on a holiday weekend. Do not use this immoral company. read more

I believe that I'm the neighbor that Kelly S. was referring to in his review. PMC did a great job for us. We had a HUGE pine tree in front of our house. This pine tree was 5 stories high I think. The problem was two-fold. First the roots where getting a bit too close to our foundation so we were advised to take the tree down. Second, the tree needed some trimming so that it didn't get in the way of our solar installation that will be coming in a couple of weeks. I received a few bids on my own but I got a referral to PMC from my friend who had used them numerous times in the past. PMC's bid came in about 33-50% lower than those of other businesses that you will find on Yelp. I normally do not steer towards the lowest bid but the strong referral from my neighbor helped me decide to go with PMC. A couple of things to note. The main guy, Paul, is sometimes kind of hard to hear him over the phone as he is a bit older and has a bit of an accent. Its definitely better to call them than send them email though. Also, I did not have them grind our stump. I decided that I would save the $$$ for sometime after the solar installation. Lastly, PMC didn't get involved in the permit process and was upfront about that. So I called various contacts at the County and discovered that I didn't need a permit for this job. I feel that this also addresses some of the negative comments regarding PMC on Yelp. As a homeowner, I'm OK with it being my issue to make sure that that the work that I hire PMC to do is permitted. I'd rather that they focus their energy on doing what they do well....maintaining trees. The minute that they need to start diving into the permit process, you start diluting their value and this impacts every aspect of their business. So when Paul's team came out, they did a great job. The tree was gone in a few days despite the rain. They worked on Saturday but not on Sunday. There was some damage to our steel fence but they promptly came out and fixed it the next day. Honestly, with the size of this tree, I don't think that it would have been possible to take this tree down without something getting in the way...the tree was really was that big. They took a lot of care to make sure that they didn't damage our house. Would I recommend PMC to someone else? Yes, of course. Did they do everything that I wanted them to do? Yes. Were they upfront about the things that they wouldn't do? Yes, absolutely. Do I have any regrets about picking them over another outfit? Nope. read more

The tree was in a an extremely difficult area between Pergolas and also very large. They lowered each limb with ropes and did a great job removing the stump. PMC tree service has done an excellent job in trimming and topping trees on my Gilroy property. I've just hired him to top another tree, a tall eucalyptus that is right next to our road. I'm very worried that a big winter storm might bring this tree down on the road. Rather than removing the tree, Paul Musso suggested that he top the tree, taking the top half off and shaping the rest of the tree to keep it from looking "butchered".
