All I have to say is... "Give me back my metro card money." I was called for an interview, came all the way to 50th street because I was told they had a position for me. After an hour of answering questions correctly (as I learned from many job seeking guides) I was told I would be called when something became available. I applied at the end of November, it's January. I have been letting them know my availability and haven't heard a whisper from these people. I wish they wouldn't have wasted my time and my metro card. Don't tell people you have something available for them when you DO NOT. I have had experience working with Women's non profit for 2 years, a foundation for a year, and some UN experience. I uploaded my resume last year on PNP site, 2013, but didn't hear anything back . This year, I updated my resume and uploaded again in summer 2014, no news.. Finally, I called in September - auto voice mail. Today, November 18th, phone was answered by a man. I told him my story and asked if I can "walk -in" he said "no, you can't." After knowing that I'm a candidate & desperately trying. He was so rude and trying to shhhh away when I was asking for some more information. Temp agencies, by and large, are only as good as you make them. It's sort of like the saying that goes with regard to college. It's only as good as you make it. A temp agency's main goal is to put great people to work, and put as many people to work as possible. To fully make use of a temp agency like PNP, you really need to sell yourself to them. Have a great looking resume, kick butt in a phone interview(ie don't conduct one while walking down the street), and dress professionally for an interview. The rest is gravy. If you have a great set of skills, and a great work history, they'll put you to work. This could said about any temp agency, anywhere in the world. It was just supposed to be a 3 day assignment for 3 weeks and I have been at my assignment for over 2 month working 5 days a week until I sign my permanent position. Terrible, terrible, terrible. Both receptionists and recruiters are extremely curt. It seems like they ask a bunch of questions hoping to disqualify people so they won't have to do any work, and when you answer all of their questions in a satisfactory manner, they seem disappointed. There are so many other recruiting agencies out there who will work with candidates to find a good match for them with the outstanding positions they're trying to fill. This place says they are client driven, not candidate driven and will only suggest that you apply for listings on their website and then wait to hear back from their recruiters. How are you going to serve your clients if you don't have a candidate pool that you know well??? It is such a shame, because they work exclusively for nonprofit organizations and those orgs could really use good talent. I doubt they'll find it through PNP Staffing though, since they refuse to foster relationships with candidates who have the experience nonprofits are looking for. read more

Very poor communicators. It was two years ago and I think his name was Philip. When I needed quick information from them, no one was available. They are slow and difficult to deal with. Because it look their communication and service is so horrible, I had to spend a lot of money for a last minute flight when they decided to alert me of my start date 2 days before it, when I had been trying to contact them for information for days. On top of all that, it's horrible pay and you feel like you're getting used. read more

When I first signed up with PNP I was contacted by Allyson who told me to come in for an interview for a specific job. Well, I came in, was greeted by Allyson, who was at the front desk and did not indicate to me who she was. I thought she was the receptionist. The receptionist, a very rude little man, came back in and took over and proceeded to have me fill out all the paperwork over again I had already filled out. When I finally had my interview with Allyson, I noted some interesting things. She came off ditzy, but when I turned my head, out of the corner of my eye, that ditzy smile turned cold and then back to a smile again when I faced her. She's a player. The job I had been called in for all of a sudden did not exist and I was referred to someone else, Phillip, I think, who was to call me if there was anything available. He never called. A few months later I get an email for some reason that she was leaving the company. Good riddance. But I was never called. I applied again and this time I was contacted for a job by Christine, but somehow I ended up working directly with a recruiter in Philadelphia for a job in NJ. The job was the worst! Below minimum wage, boring work and the worst part of it was that I had to go to different locations very early in the morning and these were not easy to get to. On at least two occasions, I was sent to a location that had no work for me. It was like they didn't understand my car fare situation or didn't care. The Philly recruiter was hard to reach and had a bit of an attitude, so I just talked to the person on site who was apologetic and somewhat helpful, but the project was not organized well. After that, no more calls for any work. Fortunately I was able to get another job somewhere else. Look, if you decide t take a chance with these people, have other things lined up. I do not believe the posters who reviewed the company and gave 4 and 5 stars. Something's up. read more

I can't say enough good things about my experience with PNP Staffing Group! As far as recruiters go, this has been the best, most enjoyable and fruitful interaction I have ever had in my 15 years in the workforce. I had the pleasure of working with Tom Wright who, from the very beginning, was very positive, open, and most importantly - responsive. He contacted me within just a few hours of receiving my application, and that really set the tone for the duration of recruiting process. He always called/emailed when he said he would, and if he couldn't he made sure to let me know well in advance. Too many times with other recruiters, there was an initial conversation and then radio silence for weeks or months. This was never the case with Tom, as he made a point to keep me updated on the status of various steps in the process from both the side of the recruiting agency and the hiring organization. What I really appreciated the most is that Tom took the time to get to know a little about me and my personal goals before connecting me to the organization for an interview. The role to which I applied was a bit of a career change for me and I was nervous about it. Tom assured me that my skills and experience would translate well to the position, and that it would simply be a matter of being a good fit for the culture/environment of the organization. Outside of my professional profile, Tom wanted to know ME. He wanted to know about my ambitions, what motivates me, the type of environment in which I thrive, the type of environment in which I didn't...I mean, he did his homework! It made me feel confident not only in his ability to match me with the right opportunity, but that he would do his very best on my behalf. He also explained his preferred method of working with his candidates so that I would understand the flow and exactly what he was doing at any given point in the process. What helped me the most during the process, is that Tom made sure that he prepped me for every phone and in person interview. He made suggestions on information on which to educate myself about the organization, identified what the hiring staff would be looking for and what I could do to give myself an edge over other candidates. That, in itself, was very different from any other recruiting experience I'd ever had, and I believe that is what made the difference and helped me to land the job. When Tom contacted me to let me know that I had been offered the position, I could literally hear the pride and happiness in his voice over the phone. I felt so good that he'd been in my corner the whole time, and it made me happy not only to get the job, but that I could be a success story for him. As I now end my first week in my new role, I feel in my bones that this is a good decision and a good fit. Tom Wright and PNP have my unending thanks and appreciation for the superior guidance and assistance throughout the recruiting and interview process. I like PNP because its exclusive and smaller. They are mainly set up to assist non-profit organizations with their staffing ranging from accounting, clerical/administration, fundraising, grants, marketing and all types of management positions. I discovered them through idealist.org and registered with them. Then a week later, I received an email blast about a part time accounting job opportunity I couldn't resist. The temp recruiter contacted me, immediately and left me a message. I returned his call the next day and we set up an appointment to see each other. After filling out the paper work in advanced (he was kind enough to email me all the forms I needed), I met with him for about ten minutes. He told me about the opportunity, gave me the name of the organization and told me to keep in touch. I followed up with him every other day, letting him know I was still in the picture and to still consider me for the job. Because of my persistance, he pretty much told his staff about me and told them to look out for any jobs for me if the other opportunity fell through. My recruiter went on vacation and his coworkers were nice enough to call me and keep me posted about other jobs. But the first job I was told about loved my resume and my recruiter's coworker set me up for an interview. With agencies, you have to be persistent because you can easily fall through the cracks. But I love this agency becuase of there exclusiveness and they are smaller in size so the recruiters can actually give you more attention (staffing agencies like RObert Half and Tuttle can pretty much forget about you if your resume isn't up to par.) read more

I've been working with this agency long enough to have a permanent position through them by now. Alas, a combination of ridiculous clients and agency ineptitude has made that impossible. The latest insult is a sign of the times, being called for a mindless, temporary phone job that begins the following day, only to be told the client has to review my resume first. That's after the pushy new recruiter tries to hustle me into an answer as I'm thinking about this life changing opportunity. Whatever happened to being sent out on assignment without all the extra scrutiny? EVERYTHING comes down to an interview or other vetting process now. You'd think that defeats the point of paying an agency to find the right person to begin with. Even after personally reworking my resume at PNP's request and making it look impeccable for a role, the client didn't even want to interview me! When I do have an assignment, I do my work exceptionally, but it counts for nothing because the finicky clients are obsessed with their "perfect fit" religion. They'll even tell you how great you are, write glowing letters of recommendation, basically NEVER hint at any possible issues with your work - and still not graduate you from temp to perm. Their rationale is typically neurotic, it's amazing that they get any work done with that attitude. Because you're on your own against these vultures, they can't be influenced. Sometimes having the agency root for you and even put in the effort to sell you as a candidate would be helpful, and they clearly stand to gain if a client hires you outright. Alas, it's nowhere near a priority. I'm sick of it. I'm sick of PNP not having my back during the incredibly tedious interview process as well. No client should be unprofessional with me when I've taken the time to be my best self and present the candidacy that THEY asked for after reviewing my qualifications. If they are, it should be addressed by someone at PNP who will at least acknowledge the offense and express regret to me. I have informed the recruiters of numerous unfortunate circumstances of that type this year and at neither time was I afforded this respect. After I expend that energy to land a position, I also deserve to know the client's decision even when it's not affirmative. This agency has shamelessly gotten me excited about an opportunity, sent me out for interviews and not even had the decency to inform me of rejections. What the hell, do they think I just like taking a tour of NYC's office spaces and not care about anything else? Call me when I need to know something, not just when it benefits PNP to do so. Last but absolutely not least, (because I haven't even gotten to the holier-than-thou approach of a few folks at PNP) why don't these people have a better handle on the work that they're nominating me for? Once I found out that the job I thought I'd be doing had nothing to do with the current interview. That was the client's fault for choosing to be a withholding SOB. The next time, it was PNP that royally screwed up. Here I am thinking that I'll interview for a position in my field, something perfect for my backround. Time to think again. The job has absolutely nothing to do with that line of work at all. I can't count the times I was told that it's a "great opportunity." I really should have blasted the recruiter for incompetence, but there I went again, being more professional than anyone else. It's probably entirely too much to ask for the level of research and attention that I'd give a client, only on my own behalf. Just know that you're in for a typically impersonal experience, with no shortage of drama along the way. I've certainly worked too well for these people for it to be that way. My suspicion is that my background will never be satisfactory to their clientele, but because no one there will be specific about how to land the right job, I'll never know. read more

The temps from this agency are terrible. We recently tried two of them and they both were beyond slow to understand the requests and even slower to execute the work. We would have been better off literally throwing the money away, as then we would at least have the time back we spent trying to help the temps get the job done. read more

Update: I have now worked with PNP both as a temp and as a permanent employee seeking a temp. Both experiences were mediocre at best. What bothers me the most is how misleading PNP can be. They placed me in a temporary "resource development" position at Boys & Girls Clubs which was in reality an administrative assitant position - not exactly what I was expecting. It was a job, yes, but at least be honest about what the work entails. This happened to a few temps that were hired at my current company, and they were dismayed to find out the work was solely data entry and nothing else. PNP needs to be clear to their workers about the job they are filling and what the specific duties are of that job. The one positive aspect I can say is that I did not have to wait long to be placed in a job, which is helpful for those stuggling to make ends meet and need immediate cash. This also seems to be the case with the temps PNP has sent to our current company. But if you have flexibility, and do not want to get placed into a job that is not a good fit for you, you are likely to find better work on your own time, via Idealist, Indeed, or other job seeking sites. read more
