I tried this place for the first time this last week. I ordered a large roast beef poboy and fries which cost me $22. It was awful. The roast beef was clearly NOT house-made. It seemed to me like a cheap food supplier cold-cut roast beef. The poboy bread was stale...tough and unenjoyable. The fries were decent but I had to toast them in the oven before eating them when I got home because they were so greasy. DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY HERE. I found this gem on Perkins one day when I was looking for lunch and I was not disappointed at all. They have the best shrimp Po-Boys and crispy, hot fried okra that I have ever had. It also came with their amazing ranch and some of their tartar sauce which is much better than a lot of tartars I have had in the past. The catfish was fresh and crispy (cornbread), the bread was soft on the inside and had the perfect crunch on the outside. Simple topping let the gloves shine. Get the fried okra, the special season really added a nice pop. I'll be back for sure. read more

First time at this location which is a former (many years ago) Kentucky Fried Chicken---I believe Po-Boy Express has been open here at least 5 years----because of what this once was, the parking lot is small however there is a drive thru for those who prefer this method of getting food. The interior attempts to look new and fresh but is only neat and accessible. On my visit I arrived shortly after 11:00 am which is early for lunch---there was 1 gentleman waiting on his order (turns out he got the fried fish which looked good and delicious) and after I placed my order and before I left there was 2 different parties (total of 5 people) who arrived inside. At the same time, there must have been 3-4 drive thru orders. As for me, I went simple---cheeseburger , fries which I upcharged to onion rings, and drink which cost me just under $11. They provide you a cup to get your drink from the fountain drink/tea self-service. When my food order was ready , the server asked if I wanted onion ring sauce, which O declined, asking for ketchup. The onion rings are thin and stringy but we're fresh and had a good flavor. I think my burger was 6 ounces---it was well-prepared and fully dressed---the bun was large which hid the (small) size of the burger, however, it was freshly made and like the onion rings, had a good flavor. It's just fat food but darn it! It's excellent fast food! I got the fried mushrooms which have a wee bit spice but just enough to think "was that a bit of spice?" Oh my! They were tasty. Tried out this spot and I'm happy the food was better than the looks of their building. The place looked very run down and neglected. We ordered a catfish sandwich and a ham/Turkey/roast beef and cheese sandwich. Both were a large size running about $19.99 each. There was definitely plenty of fried fish on the sandwich. Very fresh and good tasting. The meat trio sandwich was similar to a deli sandwich. Not much bells and whistles, but it was fresh. We also ordered their fried okra. Not sure we'd go back, but for a quick stop it was worth it. Pricey, tasty, big portions, but not spectacular for a return trip. If we were to go back it would be for the fried okra. I love the food but can't return to pay $13 for small Po-Boy without fries. It's not practical

By Friday mornings, I am usually too spent to remember to bring lunch to work with me. This means I usually look for inexpensive, quick, and tasty options when I am out and about. A few months ago, my husband and I stopped at a different Poboy Express for lunch and the oyster poboy was absolutely delicious. The oysters were juicy, well-seasoned, and dressed with shredded letttuce and the rest of the works. A regular oyster poyboy meal here is only $14 which I think is fairly reasonable. The oyster poyboy I got at this location is just as good. I got it to go thinking I couldn't possibly eat the whole thing. Boy, was that a joke! I wasn't able to eat most of the fries, but the poboy got wiped out pretty quickly. My complaints about the location include the lack of cleanliness and the outdated decor. For this reason, my rating is more of a 3.5 than 4, but I rounded up to be nice. After all, the service was pretty good too -- a rare occurence in the fastfood industry. read more

I was looking for one of the old time po-boys of my youth. Tons of shrimp on a bed of sliced lettuce w/ some tomatoes. This place did not disappoint!!! Several of the other places around town feel that 6 shrimp makes a good po-boy. These guys had double, maybe triple the count. You needed both your hands and had to open wide to eat a bite. I have never left a review before, but after calling them to see what could be done about this mistake I was told I had to return the sandwich that was wrongfully given to me, in order to get the one I actually ordered. I explained I didn't have time because I had to clock back in soon, and they told me nothing could be done if I don't bring back the sandwich. Wasted $13 and half my lunch break. To be honest, I was pretty let down by this place because I heard it was the best poboy's in BR. Maybe this location is the exception. When you first pull up to this place, it can be very confusing. Obey the signs, continue on around the building, and you will find an oddly placed call box with the menu. It's very awkward, but I guess necessary as the pick up window is close to the front of the building near Perkins. From what I could see from my truck, there seems to be a long dining area on one side filled with booths. I ordered an oyster poboy with a side of fries. Full disclosure: I order my poboys not dressed. Some people may discredit my opinion just based on that, which I agree is acceptable. The service was great. The lady at the window was very friendly, and I actually got my food within 10 minutes. I was imlressed as their food is cooked to order. However, I cannot recommend their oyster poboy. The bread was strange, with some type of bubbling happening on the top that looked unappetizing. And it just wasn't crusty enough. The oysters were fried very well, but they were not cleaned properly. If you don't remove the muscle that attaches them to their shell, especially with large oysters, you get this rubbery, inedible piece that you have to spit out. I also expect to have enough seafood that I can't fit it all on the sandwich, and I felt they were light on the oysters. The fries were seasoned well with Tony's, but were soggy and begging for ketchup or BBQ sauce. They were standard frozen fries, which I expected here. I was happy to have tried it out, but probably won't be back. Would consider trying the steak supreme poboy if I would return. read more

When I seen the shrip basket can have up to 30 shrimp, I thought it was about to be small and not worth it. But it absolutely was! The shrimp was basically popcorn shrimp and it was absolutaly delicious! It wasn't too salty and it had just enough spice. It comes with a salad and fries! Drive thru po boys? Who doesn't love that. My husband raves about their catfish poboy. He had the shrimp the other day and said it wasn't as good. I'm in love with their fries okra. As for myself, I try to steer clear of fried food. Everyone else in my family seems to enjoy it. The kids burger is huge!! Although, I found it to be a little pricey for a kids meal. My other gripe is that it's not technically that fast of food. You should go in the restaurant instead of drive thru. It's a waste of gas to wait by the window for atleast five minutes.
