    Regular Oyster Po-Boy

Here's how you can spend $15 at this "restaurant" (see picture) terrible size for the absurd price! Might as well call them rich boy express.

The catfish was fresh and crispy (cornbread), the bread was soft on the inside and had the perfect crunch on the outside. Simple topping let the gloves shine. Get the fried okra, the special season really added a nice pop. I'll be back for sure.

The best food I've had in my trip to Baton Rouge! I loved their fried Okra, fried mushrooms, and stuffed jalapeños! I got the shrimp philly cheese.. and it was so good. Bread is fresh and soft.. shrimps was very tasteful! I would totally recommend that you make a stop here if you're around. Staff is super nice and fast!

By Friday mornings, I am usually too spent to remember to bring lunch to work with me. This means I usually look for inexpensive, quick, and tasty options when I am out and about. A few months ago, my husband and I stopped at a different Poboy Express for lunch and the oyster poboy was absolutely delicious. The oysters were juicy, well-seasoned, and dressed with shredded letttuce and the rest of the works. A regular oyster poyboy meal here is only $14 which I think is fairly reasonable. The oyster poyboy I got at this location is just as good. I got it to go thinking I couldn't possibly eat the whole thing. Boy, was that a joke! I wasn't able to eat most of the fries, but the poboy got wiped out pretty quickly. My complaints about the location include the lack of cleanliness and the outdated decor. For this reason, my rating is more of a 3.5 than 4, but I rounded up to be nice. After all, the service was pretty good too -- a rare occurence in the fastfood industry.

This is a must, every time I'm home. Hands down, my favorite place to get a shrimp poboy.

15 minute wait for an $18 large combo. Better, cheaper options around but the food itself is good. Wait is just long

My favorite fried catfish poboy in town. The roast beef poboy w/ gravy is also above average. Brewed sweet tea as well.

Pretty sick but it's not bad for the price. I mean it's like on the same level as sonic but in its own style

Now they are in a much better, but still cozy, space on Government Street. This facility has indoor dining space, patio dining space, and plenty of parking, including a back overflow lot. Anthony's has been in business so long due to authentic Italian cuisine, including a great variety of take out deli items. If you need some real Italian grocery items for your home, there's a good chance you can get them at Anthony's. However, if you would rather let them prepare your meal for you, that's an excellent option as well. I think they have a first rate muffuletta, and it's important to have the right bread and meats for those. This is something they have covered! Their Po-Boys are also my favorites. These are pressed so they are crispy and flattened. I typically like to get these with a small salad, which is indeed an excellent choice. If you have room, there's always some great dessert choices. Another consideration is picking up something to take home for later, I think a tub of high quality imported olives are a good selection. Don't forget their cheeses as well, these can lift your home cooking to a higher level. Next time you are in the Government Street Arts and Entertainment District, drop into Anthony's for a bite, dessert, or take home items. You'll definitely thank yourself later!

But after looking around for a moment, she found a more descriptive menu. I suppose if you're a regular, that's not an issue. For a first timer, it's weird. I came here with high hopes for an Italian hoagie ("The Italian"). A good Italian hoagie is hard to find in the heart of po-boy country. The meat and cheese on this version is good, but the sandwich is kind of small and a bit dry. The menu says it includes roasted red peppers, but that was missing from my sandwich. It does appear they have a nice variety of bagels. Overall not bad, but I'm still in search of a good Italian hoagie.

Our results were all similar; we all agreed that JM was the best of the bunch. My wife and I liked Inga's more than Cheba Hut, while I preferred Cheba. However, when the final scores were tallied, Inga's came in 2nd. I wouldn't say it's a bad sandwich by any means, but I wouldn't say it's great, either. The steak imo wasn't nearly as spectacular as I'd been led to believe. Personally I'd rate it 3 stars, but since my wife and son enjoyed it more than I did I'll give it 4.

The asparagus could have been seasoned a bit more. The baked potato was also over baked and for some odd reason I didn't have bacon bits and my friend did. The gumbo was fantastic I wish I would've gotten a bigger bowl! The salad was simple yet delicious. It could've had more veggies and the cherry tomatoes could have been cut. I don't like having them roll everywhere trying to cut them on such a small plate. The drinks were amazing and don't owe me anything!
