Possibly the worst restaurant I have ever been to. Split a pitcher of (margarita $27) between myself and one other person without a buzz. It tasted like water, literally. I swear to Jeebus, Poco's is the most funnest place in D-town. And the food never fails to impress me. I think they have authentic Mexicans in the kitchen too. The tacos and burritos kick major butt. Poco's doesn't slack on meat, either. The chicken is never fatty, and there aren't those weird hard things like you'll find in tacos at some other Mexican joints. But the highlight is the fun here. The comedy club features some of the most hilarious comedians you'll find south of New York City. And beware of the margaritas - better bring a designated driver, because they're addictive. Went here with a friend last night for dinner. Service was horrible and food wasn't much better. I got a drink that was so strong, that I couldn't even drink it. My food was so spicy that I needed a water, which took me 20 minutes to get. My friend's tacos had absolutely no seasoning on them, so they were literally white chicken with lettuce and a few shreds of cheese. I wasn't expecting a gourmet meal, but I was definitely expecting something better than we got. I've wanted to try this place since I moved. I can say I did. If you are looking for the MOST authentic mexican food on the planet, you are barking up the wrong tree. Most of the reviews I have seen are people seeking pork pibil and goat tacos, SERIOUSLY?!? What you will find is an amazing atmosphere, great service, fantastic home cooked food. Oh, and one of the most welcoming, clever and witty hosts, (the owner Wayne), in the business today. Will never be back because of the Male Owner. Drinks on the job and is extremely rude. I walk in with three of my friends, the owner is at the front desk with a drink in his hand and yells at us "NO DEL VAL KIDS!" (We are all 3-5 years out of college, and did not even attended Del Val). We should have just walked out after that, but were hungry and wanted to grab a couple drinks. We basically ignored him and just sat down at the bar. He proceeded to come up to us and we had to actually convince him we weren't even college students...we were mind blown. I don't know what Del Val kids could have possibly done, but to be insulted as if we were college kids looking to horse around in his restaurant was the most rude experience I've ever dealt with at any place of business -EVER! Food was not good for how expensive it was. The owner was slurring his words and extremely loud the entire time we were there. He did not apologize for how he acted to us and he made a fool of himself the entire night. I've heard many stories of people being treated poorly by this man as well. I will not support a restaurant by such an inconsiderate jerk. I only wish I could have recorded it and exposed this man. read more

Recently met a friend there for a quick drink and snack for happy hour. The girl behind the bar was very rude --- no personality. She was just plain mean the minute I sat down and asked for water and a menu. She acted like I was bothering her because I didn't know what I wanted to drink/eat. I've been to Pocos before and the bartenders were really nice. This young woman was a horrible server and had absolutely ZERO personality. We mentioned it to the owner, and he couldn't have cared less. There are A LOT of nice places in Doylestown--even places with comparable happy-hours and much better food. My advice is skip this place and go where the staff is personable and more importantly, go where the owner gives a crap how his employees treat his customers. read more

Terrible in every way. Overpriced and horrible quality of food. To start out, the host (who is a frightening looking 50 year old weirdo with earrings and a terrible demeanor) wouldn't allow us to sit at a table until the 2 other members of our party arrived..... even though it was 5 pm and the place was nearly empty. We ordered margaritas, which were good but nowhere near worth the $9. Someone at our table ordered an appetizer of taquitos (spelling?) and it came with two. TWO. You could buy a bag of 50 at Costco for a few more bucks than what Poco's charges and they'd probably taste better. Our dinners came out subpar, and I'm being generous. I ordered a chicken quesadilla and it had absolutely no chicken in it, just cheese. Told the waitress, but didn't send it back because I did not want to wait another 20 minutes for a new one. Everyone else's food looked equally as unappetizing and although some enjoyed their plates, the small, unappealing portions were anything but worth the $10-12 they charge. To top it off, when we asked to split our bill the waitress sighed obnoxiously and said "you really should've told me that before you ordered." SERIOUSLY?! I've never once had to do that and it is not difficult to split the bill, I've seen it done hundreds of times. She then proceeded to give us our bills another 20 minutes later and never came back to give change. We had to request it and when the waitress returned with it, she paired it with a snarky comment and walked away. Horrible food. Horrible service. Horrible place. read more

Well I hate to do this , giving it only two stars , service was great and that is why they are getting a star the frozen pitcher of strawberry margaritas was good but not strong that's the other star ,my husband and I got 6 tacos 3 chicken soft 3 meat hard ! I can't tell how bad it was ! Was it cause we were the last customers ? Old food ? Don't know but just horrible no flavor ! We felt rushed , we usually go to las margaritas but this was closer and we were hungry ! Located away from the hustle and bustle of crammy downtown doylestown. Also has a comedy place attached but not related to the restaurant. Ordinarily this place gets a 4 or 5 for friendliness and tasty food. Not this time. Went there last Sunday night before a concert and, after waiting almost an hour for food to come, had to leave to be on time. Asked the waiter twice to check on the order but apparently he never did. The waiter and hostess didn't seem to care. She said "the food order was just put in 15 minutes ago". So the mystery was solved as to why the wait was so long. My assessment is as follows: At first the service was great! The host was very friendly and nice, very concerned etc.. Our waiter was not very good though. After the order was taken we did not see or hear from him again until we got out check, not even one drink re-fill :( so no stars here. They were very very generous with the chips and salsa, tons of chips and tons of salsa, and the salsa is quite good. One star. Very nice atmosphere in the restaurant. 80's music going on, not sure why, but hey I like 80's music. One star. The presentation of the food was not as impressive. It does look like something I could have made at home. The tortilla & beans have got to be from giant. Also the side salad/carrots garnish is from giant, almost positive. Minus a star. However, despite appearances it does not taste like something you would get at giant. My meal was actually really good. My wife's meal was very good also. The meat was very tender and full of a lot of flavor. 2 stars. Finally the price. Kind of expensive considering it doesn't come with much else besides a burrito. No rice & beans etc, but they do kind of make up for it with all the chips & salsa. So no stars here. Finally, I would go back to this place to eat their tasty burrito and chips/salsa if it wasn't as pricy. My family and i have been living in Doylestown for years. We always wondered about Poco's but were leery due to poor reviews and friends not liking it.Well, our instinct was right, the food can be summed up in one word, bad. Trust me, as someone who was born and raised in Los Angeles, i know Mexican food,and this is not it. I had the steak with shrimp and cheese on top. Meat was poor quality, cooked very rare when i ordered medium.Waited too long and was too hungry to send it back.Rice was bleh, and the biggest sin of all, the beans had something added to them. It tasted like salsa or something tomato based was added to them. My wife tried them and agreed.Never never ever mess with a staple like refried beans.Now if the owner comes on here and says "we don't add anything" thats scary lol. Wife had chili rellenos, and they were mediocre. She missed Los Angeles rellenos. Daughter had kids hot dog which was ok. Service was good, nice young man. Cannot recommend. Stay as far away from here as you can. Even the chain places make way better food such as Plaza Azteca. read more

First of all let me say to Ed M., we're glad you plan to spend your money elsewhere. I've never met anyone at Poco's who wasn't delightfully friendly and enjoyable. Apparently I haven't met you. I typically do not respond to others' critiques - everyone has the right to their own dining opinions. But you, sir, attacked me and other Poco's patrons personally. Perhaps you should just dine at home where those around you meet your expectations. I'm pleased to say I'm a seedy regular. I'm a Corporate Executive with a Fortune 500 company. I've spent time at Poco's with other executives, physicians, national political figures, local politicians, philanthropists, landscapers, plumbers, contractors, small business owners to name a few. One of my favorite aspects of Poco's is the welcoming and efficient staff. Always a smile, never a wait. The food is authentic Mexican American and it's delicious. Thursdays through Saturdays specials include some Mexican American cuisine and also other dishes such as Asian, Italian, Mediterranean. Having relocated to Doylestown from Manhattan we are delighted to have made Poco's our "go to" location for dinner, apps, and/or just a great margarita. If you enjoy walking into an establishment for a good meal without fear of being judged by other clientele, try Poco's. And watch for their charitable events. At first I thought this placed SUCKED!!! All b/c of the ground beef... DO NOT ORDER GROUND BEEF!!! It is greasy and unappealing. They need to strain that stuff and or use a different grade of beef. First timer. My family of six was returning from two days at NJ shore and stopped at Poco's on our way home. We love good Mexican and the mixed reviews on this place had always kept me from committing to a visit. My review? "Mixed". The menu is pretty extensive though, more so because of the multiple options of meat and burrito choices than the traditional Mexican fare like Mole. Our table ordered enchiladas, The Scotty (burrito), a taco, ribs and shrimp fajitas. Son likes his Scotty. The taco was very greasy. Enchiladas were okay, kinda thin and again a bit greasy. Sauce was good though. Should have been served with more slaw and some rice. Son number one said his ribs "fell of the bone" and the rack was a good size. My daughter finished her fajitas. She said it was good but "a bit oily". The guac was wasn't table made quality but then again it wasn't table made. Still we finished it so must have been good. This place is loud, as they crank classic rock which if you are on a date would make it for tough conversation. The waiter we had needs some maturing and a bit more sense of attention. He did apologize for any delays. Prices weren't bad. We might return but we won't be going for classic, tasting Mexican. Instead, we will try some new house offerings and have some drinks. read more

I am sorry to say that I agree with the previous review. How in the world is this place still open?? Believe me, I hate ripping into a business that has existed for so long but I would hate for someone else to make the mistake of coming here as I did. I stopped into Poco's on a Saturday afternoon. My husband suggested it because he passes it on his commute to work and said that it has been open for a long time, assuming it must be good. Big mistake. My first cue to turn around should have been that the parking lot was completely empty but we went in anyway. We sat the bar and asked for menus. I decided on a House Sangria. The menu said something like, "our secret blend of muddled fruits and red wine." Sounds homemade, right? Wrong. Out comes a bottle of Yago Sant'gria and into a glass it goes with the addition of a lemon, lime, and orange wedge. For a Mexican restaurant that describes "our secret blend" sangria, I'd expect it not to come out of a bottle I can buy at the store for $15 and for it not to be $8. Moving on. We ordered the Ethel & Lucy nachos. It came with what it said, chips, beef, peppers, and cheese, and nothing more. No lettuce, tomato, sour cream, or other common nacho side. The nachos tasted fine although there was barely any beef on it (and by the way, it was not ground beef as stated on the menu, it was shredded). The thing that shocked me was, after the bartender gave us our nachos, she went into a cooler under the bar and pulled out a small dish of salsa. There was nothing covering it and it was obviously sitting in there for a long time because there was a line of dried out salsa around the rim. You know that line? The one that comes after you leave a soda or iced tea sit out on your counter all night? Yeah, that line. And not that this is a big deal to me but the bartender was eating a meal behind the bar when we were there. I personally don't care but it just seems unprofessional. I will not be returning to Poco's. I was sadly disappointed and expected much more from a place that has been open for so long. read more

We went here for a happy hour with work friends. There were about 10 of us. We really wanted a table because there would be people coming in and out throughout. My colleague got there early to get us on the list and the Owner/Manager was incredibly rude to her. He was resistant to get us a table. We had a big group ordering appetizers and drinks and then we were going to order entrees, so it's not like we were going to sit at a large table and order one Margharita. If it weren't the fact that people were going to come and go all night, we would have left then and there. Never in my life have I seen a Owner/Manager be so rude to customers. He told us to leave by saying "Get out!" We stayed and our bill was over $200.00 for less than mediocre, overpriced food. The waiter was nice and attentive but that's about all the good I can say about this place. I rarely "Yelp" establishments, but this place deserves it. If the Owner would have come over, apologized and explained his rudeness we would not be negatively Yelping, but he told us to "Get Out" again on our way out after the $200.00 tab. My advice: find another place to eat at a place that has better food for less money and knows how to show good customer service - because this place is the worst restaurant in Doylestown hands down. I went to Poco's today for the first time in about 15 years and I doubt I'll ever go again. The most positive thing I can say is that the service was prompt and friendly and the new addition was spacious. My Mom and I were both surprised there wasn't a lunch menu and were even more surprised by the prices. 1 taco was $4!! Given the high prices we decided to split the fish tacos and order a side of rice and beans as well as a small order of guacamole. The fish tacos were ok but at nearly $12 I felt a little ripped off by the minimal amount of fish and the large amount of cabbage! The rice was basic at best. The refried beans I'm sure were from a can. And the small side of guacamole...less than 2 ounces and cost $3.50! Our bill came to $25 (including 2 ices teas). Next time I want Mexican I'll go a few minutes up 611 to El Mariachi (much more authentic with much friendly prices. read more

The manager with the 1980's cubic zirconia stud earring in his ear was unfriendly, nasty and a hot head. He yelled at my father for asking for a table in the dining room, as opposed to the bar (we had 2 small kids with us). He unwillingly gave us a table in the lonely dining room (no patrons in it, mind you, says A LOT). Throughout the entire meal he stood at his hostess perch AND STARED AT US! Unwelcoming and nasty manager aside, the food was incredibly HORRIBLE. The salsa was watery tomato sauce, no flavor. My 15 dollar fish tacos had NO TASTE, and hardly any fish on it. Even the "lime sour cream" had NO TASTE! You would fare better at a Taco Bell. The only good thing was our waiter, in which I hope for his sake, he gets another job in a better restaurant. And this was my Mom's 70th birthday dinner, and the crumhole manager made it the worst. read more

This place looks sketchy from the outside (it's attached to a motel) and it's overloaded with Hawaiian decorations on the inside, but the food isn't bad! Not the best Mexican food I've ever had, but I think it's the only Mexican in Doylestown so it does the job just fine.
