If you were worried and concerned about size, this hotel rooms are very small and compact. My biggest surprise was with the shower with the toilet in the shower. Also, when you get to the room, there's a TV but there's no information on what channels are where it was a bit confusing for me being from out of town. I think this place is great, but make sure you know exactly what your room will be like before you arrive. Here is a description of my room: I stayed in a "bunk pod" room by myself. The room was really small (maybe 10 feet by 10 feet) and the bathroom area is within this 10 by 10 area, and is only separated from it by frosted glass. Personally I would feel pretty awkward using this bathroom if someone else was in the room. Especially if that person was just a friend, or perhaps a new-ish romantic partner that I was traveling with for the first time. The toilet and shower are in the same space, and the shower water will get the toilet soaked with water, and this will need to dry off. Rooms and hallways were extremely quiet. The hotel itself has a lot of common areas and younger guests, so I wondered if noise might be a problem, but my hallway and room were actually very quiet for the entire visit. Really friendly staff. As I said, lots of common areas that are used by focused laptop users. Clientele skews young, 20s and 30s. If you are young this could be really nice re. meeting people. There are some older guests as well, however, so don't think that Pod is merely some sort of hostel for young travelers. The Clinton Bar, off the lobby, has pretty good food and drink, and is open fairly late (11:30 pm?) ... and it has a 15% discount for Pod guests. Clinton Bar is very friendly, but service can be a little disorganized. Pod is great value for being in the heart of New York. Sometimes rooms are available here for under $200. Location is great; you really can't beat it for straddling Brooklyn and Manhattan. Williamsburg itself is great, and taking a one-stop ride to 1st Ave on the Lower East Side is great. read more

To be completely honest, I didn't know what to expect with this facility. However, the location ended up being a perfect spot for me to reconnect with friends in Queens, Brooklyn, and in the Lower East Side of Manhattan. I enjoyed the shower but ended up using the first floor public restrooms more often because they were clean and not wet from the shower that my roommate took before I needed to use it. The toilet paper is a weird 1.5 ply. There was no hand soap so I used the body wash. I am happy we requested a fridge because we had a lot of items that needed refrigeration. I was super bummed that there was not a microwave but we did find that Whole Foods nearby had one! The bar downstairs was great and I made a lot of acquaintances there who were also from Texas (Clinton Hall gives 15% off for patrons who are staying at the Pod, so mention it to them). My biggest complaint would be that the design felt specialized in ways that I would not utilize. The reading lights were a nice touch but other than that, I didn't quite understand why we had bunk beds with cable television...or that the walls had audio plugs to connect to the TV directly or with bluetooth. Otherwise, the cleaning staff deserves great celebration because they were on top of it whether we requested it or not. If I could leave this hotel zero stars I would. As soon as we opened the door to our room an extremely strong fragrance was pouring out from the room. We asked the front desk about it any they came up and removed fragrance emitters, however due to the very small size of the rooms, removing them did not help as the walls/sheets/ entire room is completely saturated with this odor and the windows don't open so you can't even try to air it out. It was so strong that I was unable to even stay in the room and ended up sleeping in my car on the street. When I spoke to, who I was told was, the manager, they were extremely rude and said there was nothing that could be done about it and that all the rooms have those fragrance emitters in them. Over $300 to sleep in my car on the streets of Brooklyn. This hotel should be ashamed of itself and its service. Awful. read more

Pretty cool little place in Brooklyn. It's definitely a unique stay. The rooms are really small so it's good for a place to sleep but you wouldn't want to spend any extended time in the room. It says there is parking but it's hard to find where that is so I ended up parking on the street. It's design makes it so you can see into other peoples rooms which is odd to say the least. You can close some of the blinds but one window doesn't have any blinds so you need to be cognizant of that when walking around in your room that people can see in from certain angles. read more

Walking into the hotel room, I was immediately hit with the stench of bleach and toilet (the toilet is in the shower, pretty gross). I discovered the bedsheets weren't changed, after finding a nostril hair with a booger attached (on the pillow sheets) and a ripped piece of nail. Hairs were discovered all over the sheets, mainly short hairs which were very concerning. House cleaning rarely came, we often had to double check with front desk to even get cleaning which was just a switch out of towels.. and some non-fitted linens at the edge of the bed for us.. Literally gave us non-fitted sheets and expected us to switch out the bedding ourselves?? Front desk was mainly rude half the time, and acted like we were being entitled after finding boogers and fingernail cuttings?? Horrible customer service and room service, which was a big point of booking a hotel. Room was very very tiny and the toilet paper was disgusting to use. Whilst the door was unnecessarily heavy, it wasn't soundproof in any way at all, and there were no do not disturb signs?? So we would be woken up by either very loud next door neighbors or loud banging from room cleaning. The blinds also suck, people can see you from outside very very easily. My friend and I stayed at the Pod Brooklyn hotel and overall liked it, especially for the value. It's still in the process of being completed so things like the Rooftop aren't yet complete. I'm sure it will be more great once that is open! Pros: ~Great location walk-able to many areas, 15 min walk to many places. ~Friendly & helpful staff. ~Clean and cute room. ~Loved the decor of the lobby, outdoor patio area and bar area. ~Cool sports bar downstairs. Negatives: ~Though staff is nice, some are better than others. They are all nice but some are just more 'with it'...some were confused when we asked a few questions. ~The shower. It is super small, very hard to shower, leaked water outside of the designated area as it wasn't well insulated, also got our toilet paper wet despite having the cover down. It's just way too cramped in that area. ~It's small! This isn't a negative so much but just be prepared for the smallness. Overall, we enjoyed this hotel and I'd probably stay there again. My friend had left his umbrella in the lobby & as soon as we realized a couple minutes after leaving, we called to see if they had it. They said they would hold it at the desk for us to come back for it. When we went, no one could find it. They took our number and when it showed up later, they said they would mail it to us at that point and it would cost $17. I realize this was my friend's fault for forgetting it but then they semi-lost it. $17 to ship an umbrella seemed a bit excessive, as well. Ah well. (Pod responded below saying USPS provides shipping costs & they do. I ship packages all the time so am quite familiar with pricing. I looked up pricing and to get to $18.05 in 2 day Priority shipping in a box (which they did not use), the umbrella would need to weigh 7 lbs. Umbrellas weigh less than 1 lbs. Again, Ah well.) Small footprint rooms in a trendy place with tons of work space. Cozy bed, small desk, shower and toilet alli in one room. Shower is European style where it can get the toilet wet possibly. Terrific place for someone traveling alone, sort of like hostel private rooms. My only criticism is that for all of the savings on cleaning, space, etc. I'd expect prices to be quite low. Definitely a budget option but not much cheaper than more out-of date other budget options. read more

PROS - Rooms are very clean - Great neighborhood - Fantastic views - The sports bar down stairs had nice games and food CONS - The rooms are tiny - Customer service was unhelpful - The toilet was in the shower - only a curtain to separate the bathroom area and bed area - Expensive - No amenities My Experience: When I arrived back to my room late at night after catching a show, the shower door/TOILET WOULD NOT OPEN. Needless to say, we had to find another place to use the restroom, which was a huge inconvenience that late at night. And when management was notified that morning, they did not seem surprised at the issue. The assistant manager said that she would have given us a free night had the room not been paid for already. When we asked if the free night could be redeemed for a later date, she said "sure email me." We did, and instead of a free night , she offered us 10% off our next stay. There are other hotels with functioning doors, that don't lock paying customers out of their bathrooms. I reccomend they address this issue asap. Furthermore, the assistant manager lying about the free night was unnecessary, because we didn't ask for it, it was offered. I recently stayed at the Pod hotel during a visit to NYC. The Pod is a solid choice if you're looking for an affordable yet modern and comfortable room but plan to be out and about most of the day. The Pod specializes in small, compact rooms that are modern and clean. By doing this they are able to offer a higher quality hotel room and experience for a more affordable price. I chose the Pod because I knew I was going to spending the majority of my day and evening out in NYC and thus was fine with being in a smaller space at night. The furnishings were all new and practical. The bed was comfortable and I had a nice view out to the courtyard. The bathroom is very compact, featuring a combined toilet and shower. The room service was great and the hotel staff were friendly and professional. The location of this Pod hotel is awesome. It's located in the trendy Williamsburg neighborhood of Brooklyn. There are several hip and tasty restaurants right next door. It's only 4 blocks from the subway, making accessing Manhattan very easy! Overall I was very pleased with my stay. If you're in Brooklyn and don't need to pay for the full space of a standard hotel room but still want quality then I definitely recommend the Pod! read more

This hotel was the absolute best. If you are looking for a minimal like space this will be perfect for you. It's very clean. Which is most important to me. I like my tea. But there is no fridge or microwave, but if you ask front desk they'll send you a kettle to your room. And yes as other reviews said the toilet is inside the shower, but idk why it's a big deal. Lol. It's literally called "Pod Hotel" The shower head worked great. The AC/heater worked great. The space is tight but very workable if it is just one to two ppl. In my circumstance I loved it. 1. The Pod BK is in the cool/hipster neighborhood of Williamsburg. There are lots of restaurants and shops nearby. It is an easy walk to the L train which gets you into Manhattan quickly. It worked out great for our week long visit to New York. The price is hard to beat, we stayed for 8 nights for less than $100 a night including taxes with a Winter pricing deal. I have to give kudos to the housekeeping staff. Besides keeping the rooms clean, it seemed like there was always some staff member moping the hallways, cleaning the glass, even cleaning the stairs. Housekeeping took their mission seriously, which is great. 2. Like many folks have said the rooms are small. Which we knew going in so that was no big deal, given how good the price is. The bed was comfortable which was nice. The WiFi/internet would good. But there are a few things that could be better or you at least have to know going in. There is no comforter on the bed, just sheets, blanket and this sort of skinny decorative throw. If you're used to sleeping with heavy blankets you'll find things a bit light. Also as many people noted the bathroom is a combo toilet and shower together. Which is no big deal. What is a negative is that the walls of the bathroom facing the rest of the room are frosted glass. Whoever thought this is a good idea is a bit off. While you're in the bathroom doing your business you don't want to see the blurry shape of your partner on the other side of the glass. Let alone hear them. We got to having a system where one or the other of us would leave the room or turn the music up. So it worked out but it's not something I figured we would need to have a system for. 3. We stayed the last week of January 2018. The hotel was mostly finished but still under construction. Some things I felt bad for them since it's a new hotel. While we stayed there was some big rain storms which caused leaks in three of the common areas of the hotel. This closed the lounge area for most of the week we were there. Which was a bummer because the lounge is a cool space. There was also painting, electrical, and other construction going on. They even changed the front doors of the hotel while we were there. So if you are staying here soon you may also run into construction while you stay. There are some things to look forward to. In the warmer months they will have several roof decks to hang out on with views of Manhattan. Would we stay here again, probably. You just have to know what to expect. read more

Brand new hotel in the heart of hip-ass Williamsburg. Like so new the hotel wasn't even finished being constructed, yet the first two floors were open for business. Pod hotels are kind of like glorified hostels, only at hotel prices. I was horrified to have to share bathrooms with a bunch of strangers, but luckily the tiny little room I stayed in had its own toilet and shower, although they occupied the same place, much like being in a camper. Still, if more than one person is sharing a room, you might have to take turns (if you know what I mean) or use the communal toilets near the lobby. The room itself was tiny, but had everything you'd need for a crash pad - little desk, free wifi, nooks for storage, fancy cable TV and a pretty comfy bed. Still, I'm not a tiny guy, so I did end up banging the sh*t out of my knee on the corner of the bed as I reached for my bag. Why are the rooms so tiny? So they can cram in as many people as possible for $150-$300 a night I'd assume. And even though this hotel is brand new, there were still some rough spots. Like the handle on my door was a little loose and the door didn't even latch properly without a hip bump. The sink was already clogged and someone's shaved hair would seep out all over the place. Ick. Supposedly there are some nice rooftop views of Manhattan, but of course the roof wasn't open yet. While overall my stay was decent, I wouldn't go out of my way to come here again. Mistaningly made a reservation through Hotel Tonight. Called to cancel after I realized it went through. About an hour later. Hotel Tonight told me they could give me credit. The hotel refused to give back any refund. Called the 1-800 number and they were rude. They connected me to the hotel and the guy was nice but super unhelpful. I understand that it's a non-refundable reservation, but you can always make exceptions especially when its cancelled an hour or so after making the reservation. Anyway. PROS: The Pod BK is to hotels what the cell phone is to the abacus: amazing high tech (like the toilet in the shower) in a small package. Plus, great location in a trendy Williamsburg neighborhood, walking distance to the Williamsburg Bridge, the East River, Green Point and tons of awesome restaurants and bars; short train ride to Manhattan. Ridiculously low off-season room rates. Room and facilities clean and new. CONS: Though the rooms are noise proof to a degree (I never heard a neighbor above, below or to the side), if you have a court yard facing room, the din from the adjacent restaurant and bar (and construction) can get loud on the weekend and last well into the night and early morning. SUMMATION If you plan on staying here, don't expect tradition. The rooms are tiny but uber-convenient (think IKEA on steroids). I love how well-thought out the room design was: object was to compact and compartmentalize as much stuff as possible in as small a space as possible. So, if you don't plan on spending a lot of time in your room--I didn't--this space is ideal. I wish the weekend courtyard noise was a little more subdued (I would have added another star) and that the rooftop lounge was available (which it was not during my stay). Alright, I have this great idea - let's open a capsule+ hotel with absolutely no amenities or customer service but then charge full hotel price for it! It'll be styled like a Hong Kong worker dormitory and these idiots will think it's chic. Gads man, we're going to make a fortune! Pretty terrible weekend stay overall. Gripes: Called to ask about parking before I arrived. Was told oh yes we have parking. When I arrived, was told oh no, we don't actually have parking, but there is a garage around the corner, first come basis. Fine. When I checked out and got my car, they had gone through my glove box, center console and boot. Nothing missing, but clearly had been rifled through thoroughly. Lovely. Hotel price to value ratio WAY off. Worth maybe 60-70% of what I paid. That's the point of places like this. Budget styling also means budget price point. Not super budget room at fairly normal rate. I'm very familiar with what a typical NYC hotel runs and what you get for the money. This is off. I've read a bunch of reviews now saying guests get a couple free drinks at the bar?? No one bothered telling me that. In fact stopped in at the bar/restaurant for an espresso when I checked in. Staff could barely be bothered to serve me. Super rude and dismissive. Aggressive knocking by housekeeping when I had the do not disturb sign prominently placed. It's not tough to miss. It's a big red round magnet in the center of the damn door. Front desk couldn't even offer a bottle of water. Sent me to a sketchy ass grocery on the next block. Barely half a roll of toilet paper, and no spare roll. Good things: Parking was inexpensive for the area. Good location for Williamsburg. Update a month later... Got a $100/night holiday deal which twisted my arm into giving this place another shot. Had to call the front desk at 10am to ask "pretty please, with sugar on top, ask the person who's drilling on the roof and shaking my whole room at a deafening pitch to lay off for a bit until I finish my business call?" 20 min later housekeeping just walked RIGHT in. I KNOW that hotels in NYC (and the boroughs) are notoriously small and overpriced. The Pod BK was no exception - but it was particularly teeny. My partner was supposed to join me on this (work) trip, but I'm kind of glad that he couldn't make it at the last minute because I have no idea how two of us would have maneuvered in this hotel room! Yes, the (limited) space is designed well (reminds me of European hotel rooms), but there is little to no privacy (glass walls for the toilet stall) and taking a shower while standing over the toilet presented its own challenges. Having said that, the staff were amazing. Having coffee & pastries in the lobby in the morning was nice. Hotel is conveniently located to the subway (Bedford). But I chose the Pod to save over $100 per night on the conference hotel, and I would have rather paid more to have a little extra space and a separate shower stall. read more

Booked this hotel on hotel tonight for a last minute trip. I was not disappointed... for the area you cannot beat the price. An on site parking garage that is $15.00 for 24 hours. You will not find a better deal on a parking garage in the area. Hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. Hotel is next to a wine bar, and attached to a cool restaurant. Top floor offers views and outdoor seating with a garden on each level. Rooms are extremely clean. Small yes, but why are you in your room? Beds are comfy. I would definitely stay here again and recommend to a friend. Heads up there is a $30.00 hold put on your debit card for incidentals that is removed upon check out. read more

To start with the good: The beds were comfortable though a little short for me at about 5'8. Despite the small size the room was arranged so that it didn't feel too cramped. The shower got hot quickly and the bathroom seemed pretty clean. The bad: When we arrived five minutes before our 3:00 PM check-in we were told it would be a few minutes for our room to be ready but they would come get us or call us soon. After an hour we checked back. It wasn't ready. The next hour, same thing. Finally after three hours we were told our room had been ready but for some reason they didn't let us know. No, they didn't attempt to compensate us in some way. The bed frames and bedding were not that clean. A few, but very notable spots of dirt were on the bottom bunk. The toilet sits under the shower and will get wet when you shower. No fans to turn on for the toilet area. There was a slip about being green and that if you wanted new towels to out your used ones on the floor. My brother and I are both eco friendly so we hung up our used towels to be reused. Unfortunately when we returned the next day it was impossible to tell which towel was which as they had been refolded and placed on top of the rack we had been hanging them on... Additionally they were placed with the remaining, and until then clean, towels. Perhaps it's possible that they had replaced the old ones with clean, new towels; however, I gave them a sniff and nothing smelled freshly laundered . . . though given their sheets, that doesn't mean anything. Despite the overall negative review, I would say that all could be fixed by management. The location and basic facilities are good and I should mention that I found the hipster coffee shop across the street very decent and the bakery around the corner quite excellent. read more

You cannot go wrong for the money or location. I was hesitant to give this a shot as it was a special weekend when we went, but I also wanted to be able to devote money toward other endeavors without guilt, so here we were. Plus, it was a five minute walk from the Knitting Factory, where we were seeing a show. The staff were all friendly and professional. The lobby and common areas were clean, modern, and trendy. You can access the roof, which was such a win on the mild winter night we were in attendance, and there was courtyard space. It kind of felt like a really, really nice dorm. I mean that in a good way. The room itself was, obviously, very small. It was well-used space though. There were plenty of outlets, nice lighting, and the slatted windows were a cool touch. You could also open the window itself and it appeared most/all rooms looked out onto some sort of open space (for us, a little courtyard) which helped mitigate any potential claustrophobic feeling. The only time it was a bit frustrating was when my partner and I were trying to get ready. There's pretty much no room at all, so it was a bit tricky to maneuver. We didn't try to shower, so we can't speak to that. You definitely need to be comfortable with the person you are staying with if you plan to use the bathroom. This is not the situation for you if you get stage fright. I was super into the glass of wine at the wine bar next door. That was a nice touch. And there is a Food Town next door that is perfect to grab something if you don't want to go out to eat (and they open at 7am so you can grab breakfast). Small but functional. If you're looking for a cheaper place, this could be for you. I was staying on my own and I think that if there had been a second person in the room with me, it would have been cramped. In any case, there are two TVs in the bunk room and it looks like you can plug your headphones into the wall so you don't disturb the other person which is nice. The bathroom was extremely small. It's more of a little wet room with the toilet and shower in one stall without any divider but it has a nice rain shower head and a handheld attachment. Everything was very modern, clean and well thought out so it all fits well in the small space available. In addition to the bed and 'bathroom', there is a nightstand with a safe to put your valuables and a small desk. It's also in a great area, tons of great restaurants and bars, a short walk to the subway and only one stop outside of manhattan! If you know what you're getting into and what to expect, definitely a good place to stay for a couple days. If you're there for longer and mainly just sleeping there, it's still a good option, especially in comparison to the price of other places. The staff was not bad; not overly friendly or happy for the most part but they were polite and competent. They gave me the free drinks at the wine bar next door and 20% off food there with their online deal and that was great, people at the bar very friendly. Only real complaint is there no storage for longer stays. Maybe consider some drawers under the bed so people can unpack? read more

The pod is a little like staying in an Ikea showroom in one of the hippest parts of Brooklyn. The room is small, but pretty well organized. I'm not sure it will age that well, but right now everything is brand new. There is a lot to like, but a couple of minor things that could be improved. The good: the location cannot be beat. It's super convenient to the train, lots of great restaurants and fun shops. The rooms were clean and comfortable with lots of good light. Staff was friendly and the pastries in the morning were a step above your normal continental breakfast. The price was cheap as well and the free glass of wine at the bar next door was nice (though I didn't get to use it). The common space was kind of fun, and had some of the best aspects of a hostel (people playing giant jenga for instance). A couple of things that could have used work: the room was just a tad bit cold and there wasn't a comforter on the bed. The shower also didn't get as hot as I would have liked. There was not an iron in the room (though I saw one in the hall so there was likely one available). I'm not one to really lounge in my hotel room, so this was perfect for me. For the price ($110 a night after taxes), definitely somewhere that I would stay again. read more

Rooms are very small. Toilet is in shower. But had clean sheets and hot shower. The breakfast pastries are a joke, they could've spend $15 more dollars a day and gotten something better for the guests. The lobby could be improved- feels like you're stepping into an empty gymnasium. I think they are trying to be all trendy. I would like to have a couch, or a couple chairs to sit on when waiting for friends to come down. I thought it had an element of silliness being so empty in the lobby area. read more

I've avoided this place on HotelTonight.com forever but I was really pleasantly surprised. Hotel rates were so inflated because of fashion week so I decided to give it a go. I had taken a red eye in from LA and they let me check in at 9 am which is so nice and generally unheard of! I also kept booking my room night by night because I'm cheap and was waiting for the rates to go down lol... and they made sure I didn't have to move rooms for my entire stay. Everything was super clean and the staff was very friendly. The room is obviously tiny but it got nice light and everything was perfectly designed, from the black out blinds, to the chargers etc. the bed was comfy and I love that they made room for a desk. Previously I had been staying at the Hoxton in Williamsburg which is exactly the same size you just pay 3xs the amount for some twee illustrations on website and some like... macrame wall hangings. Service here was so much better. So is location. It's a fair price and a solid hotel. So much better than hipster money grabs like the Hoxton. Will absolutely be returning... great crash pad for work trips! read more

This hotel is very different from your normal hotel. This hotel is great for individuals who are going to be sleeping alone/travelers/couples (DEFINITELY not friends who mind seeing each other take a crap and shower...at the same time. The staff was respectful ! Thanks Vincent for accommodating us when we had a small dilemma in the room, it's well appreciated. Definitely would come back (best prices in NYC)... The Pod Hotel is a great concept. In a very busy city, there is no need for a giant hotel room. It is just right and provides both indoor and outdoor spaces to visit with friends. The architecture is pleasant and fun. I appreciate the hotel's convenience to many shops, restaurants and other landmarks. Sadly, all of this fades in importance when there is no service. At checkin the clerk asked if I would want my room cleaned each day. I told him yes. The next day I called the desk to check on what time it would be cleaned. I was immediately put on hold. After several calls I went down to the desk only to be asked if I had requested housekeeping ahead of time. There did not seem to be any record of the earlier conversation. I was told that the cleaners were still working and would clean the room. When I returned that evening the room had not been cleaned. Again, I tried to call the desk and was immediately placed on hold. Basically the same story unfolded the next day (Saturday). After several unsatisfying attempts to speak to the people at the desk, I asked for clean towels. These were delivered. The housekeeper who brought them did not know if there would be anyone cleaning the room. I emailed the hotel, letting them know I would be out for a few hours and hoped the service was completed then. You guessed it, my room was not ever cleaned. In this particular setup the toilet is in the shower stall and gets very wet. Using the towels to wipe off the wet toilet seems less than sanitary. Leaving these dirty and wet towels in the room for days cannot be good. I still have not received an apology or any acknowledgment that this was a problem. read more

If you value your privacy DO NOT book into the Pod BK. Apparently anyone off the streets can book a room under your name without showing ID plus the Hotel will freely give away all the dates you stayed there without asking for your permission or if the person is authorized to know that information. So basically there is no care for your personal data or confidentiality. I do not recommend this hotel. I might as well have a HUGE sign with my name in front advertising my name and when I stayed there. Don't do it. Very disappointed. read more

I stayed at the Pod Brooklyn for 3 nights while I was in town for a training. As a solo traveler, I found the queen pod room to be laid out perfectly, intentionally, and thoughtfully. Upon arrival, the front desk was well staffed, attentive and polite. I was offered a complimentary glass of wine at the spot next door (Woodhul Wine Bar), as well as 20% off any other items I ordered, which was a nice surprise. The room offers many smart storage spaces - a pull out drawer with an in-room safe, plenty of underbed space to slide your carry-on in and out, a desk area with more than enough room for a laptop/notebook/phone, the wall holds 4 flush coat hooks that pull out to hang clothing, as well as a small hanging rack above the bedside table for heavier items. The alarm clock functions as a bluetooth speaker as well. I did not notice any noise issues from within the room, though I was able to hear inside many rooms when walking the hallway. The rooms allow for plenty of natural light if it's desired, with sliding slatted metal blinds that close to block light. The hotel is located centrally, just a couple block walk to the L train that takes you into Manhatten, multiple bus lines, and the East Rive pier for a great view. There are many corner stores, bars, restaurants, and a Whole Foods nearby so you will be able to find anything you need within a couple blocks. And the downsides... The hotel is still under construction, so many of my criticisms are a function of this fact. The first morning I woke early and ventured down to the front desk in search of coffee, to which I was told they don't provide this. I walked several blocks to a 24-hour bakery to get coffee, and when I returned there was magically a press pot in the lobby. This is more of a minor annoyance but tells me that that overnight staff is not very aware of what the day staff is up to, and communication problems can be an issue. The rooms allow for in-room temperature control via a digital thermostat, which came in handy because the bed is made with a thin blanket and sheets. There is no comforter. If you're used to having some weight on your bed, you'll be disappointed with this. I asked the front desk for another blanket, and this highly improved my experience. The fire alarm went off twice during my 3-night stay. Each time was apparently a misfire. Again, a minor annoyance, but may be a sign that this hotel attempted to open before they were ready. All in all, I would absolutely stay here again, and I hope that they're able to iron out the issues. read more
