Kart racing at Podium delivers literally-heart-pounding excitement! It is very satisfying when you experiment with taking a turn differently and shave tenths off your lap time. I recommend going when it's not crowded. Races are longer on weekdays before 5:00p, for the same price. Yes, cart racing is expensive, but they have a variety of deals that can make it more affordable. On our last visit, we tried axe throwing - it's fun too! There are decent food and drink options here, so it's got everything you need to have a seriously fun day. I try to present the good and the bad, so having covered a lot of good: We have had encounters with a couple of rude employees (but far more of them have been nice). And they need to do a better job of keeping up the karts; there were seatbelt issues on several karts that I recently drove, and one kart had the front cowling pushed back so far that my fingers were squashed against the steering wheel in turns. Came here in a large around 15 for a friend's birthday. *Made reservations I want to start by saying this is totally not my thing but it was still a blast. You fill out a waiver and take a picture at the beginning as they print out your times. (don't forget to pick a killer nick name) They let around 7 people race at a time and while you wait for your turn you can order food and watch on the track. Drinks are only for after you drive. They have a quick 5-minute training video to tell you all the do and don'ts. You can bring in your own cake if you are going for a birthday. The actual racing was so fun. I was very out of my element so obviously I didn't do well and crashed into the side of the railings. Beyond embarrassing but the workers ran to help me and were so concerned. I was not hurt at all just stuck in the barrier and very embarrassed. I finished the race and followed the rules of the flags that they wave. I did have to sign a form after to make sure I was okay. Travis the bartender and Matthew were so nice after I... crashed. lol I'm sure that is a rare experience as I suck at this stuff but it was a great time! My son's best friend had a birthday part here (11 year olds) and it was not well handled at all. It was super painful to check in, and they didn't have the things set up that they said they would so the mom of the birthday boy was freaking out a bit. It was also quite empty in there to have so many problems. The cars for the kids do not go near as fast as the adults, so there won't be as many laps. I would recommend against smaller kids going though. My daughter did one of the races (7) and had a hard time. Plus she got run into from behind and ended up with some intense bruises on her shoulders from the seatbelt straps. They have a bar and axe throwing/arcade area as well, but overall the space doesn't seem to be used well. Maybe this would be okay for an adult gathering, but for the kids, I wouldn't go there again. read more

On a snowy and cold Saturday evening we didn't really want to stay home, so we decided to find a place that could inject some excitement to combat the winter gloom. Podium Kart was just the answer, offering a blend of adrenaline-pumping kart racing and the unique twist of axe throwing--all under one roof. We did not have a reservation, but just walked in. They were able to get us signed up for four races but unfortunately, our first race wouldn't take place for over an hour from when we arrived. To kill the time we signed up for axe throwing. Both of us knew to ask throwing we started off with just the basic target game and then moved on to the zombie and duck hunting games. It was a good competitive and humorous activity that made our wait go by so fast. The staff here is super nice and very helpful! I am tall so the pit master (not sure if that's what they really call him) had to help me adjust the seat backward and pedals forward. My partner had been go kart racing several times before, and was much faster than I was but still it was so much fun! It's pretty cool that they give you a piece of paper afterwards that shows your average speed laptops, and how you finish compared to the other people who were with you. And I plan to smoke him next time we go. Couple of tips: Ladies (and others with long hair) bring extra hair ties. It is a requirement to tie your hair back. Also be sure that you're wearing clothes toed shoes. This wasn't a problem for us because it was snowing outside so we both had boots on. You will smell gasoline fumes, so drink lots of water! Definitely different than the old Unser management. I was in the neighborhood and decided to check it out again, thought for 2pm on a Tuesday it would be pretty quiet. Not. Bunch of locals with their own helmets, braces, gloves, etc... that thought they were professional race car drivers. Hilarious. I haven't been in a kart for 10 years, so forgive me if I don't know the track as well and not as fast - I got bumped and cut off twice a lap, even though that's supposedly a big no-no. They threaten to cut the power of the kart if you're an a-hole but apparently the regulars get a pass. Worst part, I was supposed to have a second race but almost immediately after getting out of the kart I started sneezing my head off. I have never had allergies, never get sneezing attacks but something in their "newly cleaned" head sock or the helmet left me with a severe allergic or chemical reaction to whatever was in their equipment. I felt 100% completely fine before I got in the kart, no way it was a coincidence. Still going too, I've sneezed more in the last 24 hours than I have in my entire life. read more

Staff was friendly but it didn't seem like rules were enforced consistently. There was a couple in both of our races that appeared to be regulars (had their own helmets). The gentleman hit several people and was never warned, despite it being a very clear rule violation. The woman spun out the first race (sign of aggressive/bad driving). In the second race she was flagged to pass me then proceeded to slow my next 6 laps (evidenced by my lap times). They never signaled for her to allow me to pass despite clearly being in position to and having to break several times as to not hit her. The biases really took away from our first Unser experience. It's too bad because I really liked racing and was hoping to make this a regular activity. read more

It's been over a year since i visited this place but i would definitely go again for a special occasion. This place is on the way into Denver off of the interstate, so it was extremely easy to find. The staff at the front desk was only mildly helpful -- could have been a little more thorough in telling us about the go-karts and what to expect since we were first timers. We did a short info session on driving and the rules of the track -- i.e. how to use the karts as well as what different flag colors represented. We were shown to an area where we picked out helmets and could also choose suits if we wanted. I get a little weirded out wearing clothing others have but it's like bowling shoes. You just have to deal. We were given instructions on waiting right inside a windowed room to the track and told when to proceed out and shown to a kart. The track wasn't extremely long, but it was a blast racing against a couple friends. There was another couple racing as well but as long as everyone is a good sport, it's a fun experience. There was also a bar where you could view the track. The only other consideration i give for -1 star is the price. It's fairly expensive, but it's definitely fun for a "treat yourself" sort of day. read more

Been wanting to do this for the longest time! The experience was AWESOME the karts are so fast and everyone is very friendly. Basically just a heads up we ended up going on a Saturday night around 8PM it wasn't busy at all which was great. You go in enter your information / sign up for an account then one race is about $30+ with that new signup fee I assume they also have other deals/ packages to get more races. Then once that's all done you do a little training course where they go over the rules ect! Then your off to the race track it's 5 laps guaranteed I believe. Unfortunately for us some dude crashed and ended up damaging a part of the track so we had to stop, they needed up just giving us a full refund and gave us other options but we just took the refund. There's a full liquor bar just outside of the track viewing area, but you are NOT allowed to drink before your race or else you forfeit your racing! TL:DR Decent karts. Unsafe racers ruined our experience, and staff was impressively unhelpful. Karts were decent quality. Some are noticeably slower than other's, but not so much it affects the fun factor. HOWEVER, the staff is completely incompetent. In our first race my family and I were grouped with another person who's racing pseudonym was "Honey Badger." In our first race this racer managed to rear end me quite hard as I let off the gas for another racer in front of me. The whiplash was not fun. After this race, I asked a staff member to please be placed in a different heat than this racer. My family (and other's in our heat we did not know) complained about his reckless driving and mentioned that he had collided with LITERALLY ever other racer in that heat. We were offered to have another race over an hour later, instead of in the next 10 minutes as was usual. That was a silly offer, why would we wait that long? Was it really not possible to shuffle the rotation by one racer? Anyways, before the next race, we approached "Honey Badger" and rolled him that he should be more careful and ensure to not make contact with others during the race. Things went exactly as expected. He ran in to people, drove into corners really hard while cutting off other drivers, and made rude hand gestures toward drivers in front of him that were slower. This time I REQUESTED to be removed from his heat, and so did the other racers in our heat. Finally, he was removed. We had our third race and had a great time! Nobody made contact with each other and we even had some of our fastest lap times! Thereafter, someone came to our table, I'm not sure if they were a manger or something, explained to my family (and the other racers in our heat) that "Honey Badger" had done nothing wrong and that it was in fact our fault for being in his way. I understand people want to race, that's great, but it was a Saturday afternoon, and people were just trying to have some fun. We had no intention of entering into a race with someone who valued their lap times over the safety of everyone on track. I don't know who this "Honey Badger" person is, but it seemed that staff were very well aquatinted with this person. They all spoke to each other between races and we noticed him go to them complaining about racers in his heat (my family and others) doing something wrong? To us it seemed that everyone else was just being respectful and safe on track (and our lap times were all within 5 seconds so it's not like we were "holding him up." This "Honey Badger" person had the daily record when we came in, and continued racing after we left. I don't know if he is the owner's son or simply a regular, but it was clear that the staff had no intention of accommodating other racers to simply be placed in a different heat than an unsafe, aggressive, and rude driver. We had a good time, but such: incompetence? unwillingness to work? lack of care about safety? I'm not sure what to call it. But it resulted in a minor neck injury and our outing being ruined. Wish staff had the guts to enforce the "rules" they preach to you in the introductory meeting. It was all about driving safely and in a controlled manner. And, crucially, that THIS WAS NOT AN F1 TRACK. People are here to have fun, nobody is going to winning a championship, there is no prize or stakes. If there is someone in front of you, we were instructed to find a SAFE place to pass. read more

My husband and I brought our nephew here last Sunday for his first time kart racing. Everything went well until an interaction with a manager after his last race left our nephew in tears. I'll back up. We arrived at 9 a.m. so that we would make sure we could get him in for racing. They don't allow reservations for 1 child so you have to show up early and be there in time for the junior cart racing training. The training is intense for kids which is good, they need to know what to do and not do in a machine that can get up to 30 mph. The track is indoor and loops around on the same floor so you can see about 60% of the track at one of the viewing stations. The employees that are on the track literally will run from kid to kid as needed when they bump into a rail and stop the car or for any reason a kid stops driving on the course. The employees also have warning signs for no bumping and flags to indicate when to pull off the course. I also really like that the times are against yourself and what your best track time is not who gets across the finish line first. Great set up. On the second race, our nephews' kart ran into some issues so he had to switch karts mid race. It seemed that a number of kids were having technical problems, which happens, but still a bummer when you only have 3 races max during junior hour. The third race, our nephew pulled in to the pit if you will and the kid behind him hit our nephew which then caused a ricochet effect and bumped every kid that had already pulled in. We didn't hear the interaction between our nephew and the manager but according to Jack, the manager told him that he didn't brake enough coming in and that's why the kid behind him hit everyone. Jack defended his position and said that wasn't the case to which the manager came back with an I saw you do it argument. Now we didn't see what what happened but I would think that a manager who interacts with kiddos would be able to give constructive feedback without leaving a kid in tears. Another family saw our nephew crying and overheard what he was telling us and all three of their kids said they saw the other kid come in too fast and he was the cause. It really doesn't matter whose fault it was at the end of the day, our concern was the interaction of the manager with Jack. As it was on the last race of the day, it was a bummer to end our outing on that note. read more

Unser is a fun place! If you've never been, go! You need a valid driver's license and required to watch a safety video beforehand. My hubby and I went for our 2nd company party just the other weekend. An employee informed me if you've been there before you technically do not need to watch the video each and everytime. Nice fact! Our experience was good! If you go with a group like ours (50+), waiting to race wasn't an issue. The actual race time is decent too. The professional go carts are no joke. Their fast! They can make it up to 40 mph. Probably not in the track but in general. I did have a better go cart my first race out of 2. The track staff look to be between the ages of 16-20 maybe. Not to sure. Don't break their rules, just drive safe and have fun! There's a full bar including coffee & tea. The event room is good size. It fit 50+ people just fine. There are race suits you can wear and your required to wear a helmet on the track at all times. Or bring your own! There is also an attached hangout place that has a pool table and lounge area. I've never actually stepped foot into that area but by the doorway you can see it. Wear a small jacket. The track waiting atea can be chilly. No high heels or open toed shoes. You can rent both footies & shoes if you need them. I had to rent a pair of shoes because I wore a healed boot. After reading my review, go drive that go cart! read more

The fastest go karts I've ever done. You get to wear a real helmet and can do a race suit and neck brace as you wish. There is a quick training and then you're sent off to await your heat. They put you with your people and then you can all get out there together! They have great timing and you get to see the results of the race immediately afterwards. They have a nice viewing spot on the first hairpin turn and overall it's a nice modern facility. Only The indoor track is open and it's open to the outdoors so if it's cold out be prepared and know that driving a go kart should easily get you heated right up. I've actually wanted to come here since I moved here. It looks so cool and so much fun. But I went a few nights ago for a rare date night with my boyfriend. We got our first two races free for a coupon printed from the website, and bought a second race for each of us. The total for those 4 races was $53, a little pricy for me, but I was really excited to try it out. Unfortunately, we did not have such a great time as expected. This track is advertised as an indoor track, however, it has outdoor weather. I wish it had said something about that before we went. I was hesitant to still drive in the cold, but I decided to try it anyway. The cars are fast, but the staff didn't pay any attention to the guy controlling the track and slamming into us (even though we had to do a video safety presentation beforehand that said you are not allowed to hit people.) The employee was just on his cell phone looking down the whole time, so no real concern for safety there. Of course, since it was unexpectedly cold, my hands froze. They hurt so bad that I was crying in the bathroom afterwards trying to warm them. I was frightened that frostbite could happen! I couldn't do the second race, so we decided to speak to the manager. He refunded us $21 and some change, even though we paid $53 as a total and two races were supposedly free... so I have no idea where that number came from. At that point I was too exhausted and disappointed to argue. Regardless, I'll give this place another chance (on a warmer day). I'll happily update my review then. read more

At first glance one might mistake their karts for go-karts, like the ones that are found at an amusement park or family fun center. These are NOT go-karts....they are souped-up racing karts that go much faster and are a lot more exciting! We visited Unser Racing on a Sunday morning just as they were opening and were greeted with an energetic welcome from the staff. We registered and chose our race package (the "demo" race is a good one to start with - 4 laps on the course just to get a feel for it.). We were then escorted to the training room where the instructor talked with us for about 15 minutes and answered any questions that we had - big on safety, very thorough and extremely helpful. After the training session, the instructor took us to the track. There is an observation area with floor-to-ceiling windows so onlookers have a good view. We got fitted for our helmets and headed to the karts. After everyone was settled into their race karts and engines were started, the race was on. All I can say is if you like to drive fast, this is a must-do experience! Straight-aways, curves, passing karts, I had a blast the whole time, and I came in last place! I have been driving go-karts since before lawyers started turning go-kart tracks into kiddie rides and it's great to see real go-kart tracks coming back again. I've driven karts all over the western U.S., indoor, outdoor, gas, electric, all kinds of slow and fast karts. I took my dad who was visiting from Oregon since he is the reason I love driving karts so much. First I was impressed with how nice and accommodating the staff at Unser were. Real cool people there. They got the training class done, covering all the important things then boom! off to the track. No B.S.ing around like some others I've been to around town. I came to drive, not talk about driving. Since the place is still pretty new I expected that the karts would be in pretty good shape and they were. They were side engine models with plenty of power. Driving out of the starting lane I noticed the karts were faster in initial acceleration than other karts I've driven. I've done the outdoor track next to Centennial Airport and while those karts were fast in top speed, they were as slow as a tortoise in taking off from the start or a spin. At Unser, I spun out once and the kart was pretty decent at powering around and getting back up to speed. Since this is an indoor track, the concrete is worn smooth and thus there is less traction or more spin through the corners than an outdoor track. That's fun if you like that sliding through corners, but it also tests your driving skills more. The tires are VERY soft! Once up to temperature, you will notice pieces of rubber flying off on the corners. I happen to like that, means they're sticky and I'm probably getting the best traction possible from a tire. Also reminds me of F1 racing which I love. The track design was a little basic in my opinion. Not very creative and pretty short. They told me this summer they will add an outdoor track on the top floor. That might be pretty nice. What would be really cool is if they could somehow incorporate both floors in the same course. A two level course would be a first I believe, and also make the laps much longer and more fun. Price-to-fun ratio was good in my opinion. I would and will go back again, and recommend it to anyone else who likes fast kart racing. I was there on a Friday, midday so there wasn't anybody else there. That was both good and bad. It was good for checking out the true performance of the karts and track. It was also bad because my dad isn't as fast as I'd like for another driver to compete with. I had my helmet cam with me and was able to capture the evidence of my advanced driving skills over my father. However, pride and of course "fear" preclude me from boasting too much. After all, it was dad who turned me on to the excitement of driving go-karts when I was a kid. Thanks dad, for everything you've done for me in my life. Especially for taking me go-karting. Hopefully the ambulance chasers won't drive the karts out of business again. Update 11-14-2011 Unser has new karts on the track now that are quicker from the start, corner better, and probably have more top speed though you can't really hit that because the track is so tight. However, I had update my review because the new karts make this so much more fun and exciting that I can't stop thinking about going there again! Unser has the best karts I've ever driven in the U.S. I wish they had a longer track is probably my biggest "gripe" if you can call it that. Came here for a company outing. Sat through a safety demonstration that includes your very own stylish .........cap/sleeve for your head? And whooped some of my colleagues' tails (although not good enough to finish at the top overall). This would be a great place to have an outing with anyone that's the least bit competitive. They have a great tracking technology that shows you where you're at during each race, tracks your fastest times, etc. It can get a little bit pricey if you're going with a group of friends, but this is definitely a place to go if you're looking for some high speed, but safe, action. read more

Warning about punch cards... fun place, so we bought punch cards for our kids for 10 races each. My 17 year old had his wallet stolen at school about two weeks later and his punch card was gone. We called Podium and they said the card is "treated like cash" -- they claim to keep no record of cards or punches. Yet they do, because they take your picture and log your race every visit. Why on earth would the card not be attached to the racer? Yet, they claim there is nothing they can do about a lost or stolen punch card. So we are out $150 for two races. Came here before our flight out of Denver, great way to kill some time and have some fun. This was a Monday early afternoon so not many people here, we were 1 of maybe 4 groups all afternoon. So it was great to be able to race amongst ourselves and really go all out. The staff was super friendly, the karts were great and the course was fun. Only reason I don't give a 5 star is because the kitchen was down, they haven't had anyone fix it so we had to leave to get food and drinks elsewhere...boo would of stayed longer. read more

This place can be a really fun time. Go with a group. THere's a full bar and restaurant. The thing that annoyed me was that when you first get there, you have to fill out this application procedure -- you have to give your name, telephone number, email address, etc. They even require that a photo is taken of your face... I was starting to get angry. I don't like giving companies so much information about me, so they can sell it to marketers. read more
