I am writing to share my positive experience with our driver, Hector Marlow. He was very attentive throughout the process, calling prior to delivery to provide an estimated arrival time. He proactively asked how the truck should be loaded and reconfirmed the placement of the unit once he arrived. He also contacted us when he was nearby to ensure he had the correct directions. Upon arrival, Hector placed the POD on our uneven gravel and took the necessary time to stabilize the unit appropriately. We have now used PODS for two of our moves. Had outstanding experience using Pods. Roger Storment called me with a heads up that he would be coming by with the Pod in an half hour and he arrived at my place exactly 30 minutes later. I had a specific location to place the Pod and it seemed difficult to have it placed where I had planned for and the door would be facing the wrong way but after a short discussion, Roger said I'll do some magic for you and get it there. He certainly did - Roger first, turning the Pod around by dropping it off the truck, turning the truck around and placing it back on the truck to have the door facing the way I needed; then he was absolutely amazing in manipulating the Podzilla to put it in exactly the place I needed. Not only is Roger expert and professional on his know how to deliver and place the Pod, he had the highest customer service attitude in listening, then providing and getting what the customer needs. I have used PODs several times from Ca to East Coast. Great, but this last time several years later from the East coast to the West coast.... Terrible service. Delays, delays delays to pick up and the it took almost 2 weeks, and then when it arrived here in West Coast ... we had to then schedule the delivery which would take another week. During all this time, we had no furniture to sleep on and no household items. Sleeping on the floor. Each time a delay occurred, we called and no one could or tell us where our POD was or if they were on schedule. Finally ... when it arrived at the warehouse on the West Coast, instead of going another week for delivery ... we begged the boss there to let us come get it. We hired moving company and for 1,500, they brought all the stuff to us. Thank God !!! Will never use them again. read more

Big shout out to Hector Marlow, this guy was absolutely amazing. He dropped off our 8' container which we were also waiting for our 16' container. To make sure we had enough room for the other container he offered to help us unload the container and then once the container was empty he could take the container away for us. I made a mistake and ordered a POD that was too small for my move, but the team in Castroville came to the rescue. They managed to adjust their schedule and deliver a larger POD for me. Moving is already stressful, but thanks to Roger and the team, they saved me! They delivered a larger POD the same day, I'm so grateful considering I already had hired people to come pack the container. I highly recommend their service! read more

I opted for PODS to manage my interstate relocation, and the experience was outstanding and it is singularly due to the support I received from Hector Marlow onsite at the PODS facility in Castroville, CA. My move was self-loaded/delivered to the facility. On the afternoon of that our drop-off was scheduled for Hector called to confirm our arrival and advise on the location of my assigned POD - right out front at the facility. He greeted me there when I arrived, asked if I needed any further support, and even provided moving blankets on the spot that I could use temporarily since the moving company did not provide them. Hector also provided support when I needed to make an on-the-fly change to the size of the second POD I was scheduled to bring the next trip. He got me connected to customer support, and again on the second drop-off day, he was there to field any questions I had and make sure my belongings were received, secured, and made it on their way to our destination promptly. He couldn't have been nicer the whole way through. Hector is super knowledgable about the business, the products, the process. He's enthusiastic about providing support, and his assistance relieved so much of the stress involved the move. Definitely use PODS. Having said that, their online booking system is not ideal for all situations -- it definitely was not for mine. But Hector made up for that in spades, and I'm so grateful. Thank you, Hector! We are using PODS for the first time as we move from Washington to California, and while our experience started off so beautifully, the end of our experience has been absolutely awful. To get started, we called for a quote, set up drop off/pickup/delivery times, etc. We were told about required forms that we needed to fill out in our MyPods account, so we did that right away. They came on time to our home in Washington to drop off the PODS box and were very helpful and thoughtful with how they positioned it in our driveway. Picking it up went smoothly too - they were on time and called to verify all the details. We drove to California and assumed everything was in order. Our PODS box was set to be delivered 1 week after we arrived to our new home. It should be arriving today, actually. Yesterday, I started to feel nervous because I noticed that no emails or updates had been sent my way since our PODS box was picked up. I heard nothing about a timeframe for delivery, and no charges had been made to our account. I used the chat feature in MyPods to ask about delivery. The person who helped me said that the updated delivery date and time should upload around 6pm. I checked back at 6pm, and nothing was there. This morning I logged into MyPods again to check for updates - nothing. I saw a little banner that said "Submit your Gypsy Moth and Spotted Lanternfly Forms". We already did this, back before our PODS box was first delivered. I filled it out again just in case, and then decided to call to check on everything. What I found out was that our PODS box is still sitting back in Washington, and apparently everything was put on hold because no phone number was included on our Moth form. I just refilled this out this morning - there was NO spot for a phone number. I also never received any communication, in MyPODS or via email, about this missing phone number. I essentially had NO WAY of knowing that something was holding up our delivery. The PODS person I talked to forwarded me a completely different form that what was listed in my MyPODS account. This was a fillable PDF file and did have a spot for a phone number. I asked why this form was different, and why I was never notified about a missing phone number, considering that piece of information was enough to delay our entire delivery. Her response was (1) that her notes said they did email me (I checked - there was NO EMAIL about this ever sent to me), and (2) she said that I should have added my phone number next to my typed name on the MyPODS version of the form. This is absolutely infuriating. Now that we've submitted this new version of the form, our PODS box will be delivered 2 weeks from now. We will go two more weeks with no furniture, basic kitchen ware, clothes, contacts, etc. So, to sum it up, if you decide to use PODS, be sure to call and follow up with every form you submit, because if you don't, no one will tell you that you missed critical information and, as a result, you'll never know that your box is NOT on its way. read more

Horrible communication and scheduling. I had to call at least 8 to 10 times for scheduling properly. Then this company PODS no showed on a pick up while everybody was waiting to help move. The next day was Sunday which would be perfect for moving but we did not have a pod to unload. They now have to schedule for Monday and now people have to take off work to help unload the pod. When I called they said the driver had an incident on the way to pick up our unit but I never received a call that anything happened. We waited till 9 PM five hours after their window they gave and they did not call at all. When I called the next day to add insult to injury they offered me a $25 discount for the inconvenience. What a joke! I would never recommend this company to anyone. I will be using PackRat for all my future moving needs. read more

Difficult experience with customer service, wait times are crazy though this is understandable given it being peak season. When I was finally put through, the representative did not seem sure of his answers and seemed bothered by my questions when I needed clarification on the process. After being talked through my estimate, I asked if I could receive a write up of the conversation via email for my records to which he responded I would receive it after I booked. When I explained that I wasn't quite ready to book but would circle back once I had time to review the written quote and all that it entailed, he hung up. I tried to give benefit of the doubt and think maybe the phone just disconnected but I never received any follow up, call back or the written quote that I requested. read more

I have rarely seen a company that was so mixed up , incoherent and unprofessional . Some of their customer service reps were good at giving phone service , but actual service has been sorely lacking with this company. Right hand does not communicate with the left , just very amateur operation. I am hopeful we get our property sometime soon. read more

I recently moved to Monterey Bay from Dallas, TX and PODS has made the transition very easy. Today, I visited this PODS location to gain access to my POD and gather a few items I needed. I called the main PODS customer service line on Tuesday to set up a time to go to the POD and the customer service agent was swift and helpful in getting it arranged. And then this morning, I received a courtesy call from the location letting me know that my POD was available in the parking lot until 3 PM for my access. When I arrived, Hector was working the main office and directed me to my POD on the lot. He was extremely kind and welcoming, a friendly face! I spent about 20 minutes going through things in my POD (the items transferred wonderfully with very little disruption inside) and then let Hector know I was finished, after locking my POD back up. It was quick, easy and extremely convenient. I would definitely recommend PODS to anyone moving long distance who needs to keep items in storage, but have access before final delivery! read more

I'm really disappointed with PODS. It was not made clear that the delivery options are so limited. The pick up went smoothly and I assume my things are ok while being stored, but I would have chosen a cheaper storage option had I known they would be unable to deliver to my destination. Now I will still be forced to rent a moving truck. This is a very frustrating development that could have easily been prevented if the company had better communication. read more

Difficult to contact customer service via phone or chat. Wait times are extremely long and they don't offer email communications. Online system is clunky and not user friendly. Once you manage to get ahold of a live person they are extremely helpful and friendly but the company has a long way to go in terms of navigating the system in a timely manner. Giving them a low rating as I think ease of communication is vital- especially when dealing with the stress of moving ;-) read more

They have been great in the past. That was on the east coast . However my first time using them here on the west coast. Customer service is not the same. I ordered the unit to face the garage and discussed with the customer service person at length . The guy shows up ready to put it in incorrectly . I let him know that is incorrect but he says that you will have to call customer service again and place another order for another day. I was set to move my things in today. When I asked how he could help fix the the problem without inconveniencing me the customer . He had no answer. Just said to call customer service. Which is a long wait time. Also it changed my date for moving with no concerns about how the customer is inconvenience. read more

I used PODS for a move to a new place in same town. The convenience is awesome, you have it dropped in the driveway and you can just pack as you go. They are professional and courteous, and the drivers know what they are doing, its even fun to watch them maneuver the POD into the driveway, like a giant video game. the down side was using their website- they are based out of Florida so maybe they haven't quite gotten it worked out yet. I had to call in any changes, and there was a problem each time except once, it did get taken care of just took longer. The price is a little high about 1/4- 1/3 more than a conventional storage unit. The largest container was 200/mo. and don't forget the tax. don't know if it's just California but it adds another 25-28 bucks per month. You have to pay a fee every time they move the box. One to get it to you, one to take it to the new place, and one to pick it up, and it's not set in stone depends on how far my first fee was 80.00 the second was 98.00 for an 5 mile difference. If they could fix the website glitches that would make it better experience. If they could lower the price a bit it would make a huge difference. read more

My first experience and cause for my review was terrible when dealing with the corporate office. Every phone call and phone transfer created a new answer and different explanation. They lacked customer service and knowledge of their company in a serious way. However; the local office was amazing. I have never recieved such fantastic customer serivce. They were adamant about making my bad experience into a better one and went above and beyond to make sure they did. I have to give it to them, Alex the local Manager had such great customer service. And Ken was wonderful in getting the ball rolling in the right direction. With a local office like this PODS is lucky. Had it not been for their quick response, stellar customer satisfaction, and phenomenal follow up I would have nothing good to say about the PODS enterprise. read more

UPDATED REVIEW The guy who came out to put my POD at my condo location was really nice. He knew the area because he was one of the contractors who helped build this condo complex when it was new (Salinas, CA area). Also, my POD was picked up TODAY (6/30/18 Saturday), instead of July 10th, which is a HUGE relief off of my list of stuff I have to deal with for this move. I still think PODS in Florida should hire more people to service areas better, since they advertise that they do long distance moves. When I moved from CA to OR 2 1/2 years ago, I used the UHaul Pod service which was less expensive, and got there to OR sooner than the POD move back to CA from OR did this week -- and it was way less stressful with calling customer service and time frame to get my belongings to my new location. The only reason I used UHaul instead of PODS back in 2015, is because PODS told me they didn't go to my location in downtown San Jose, CA, the heart of Silicon Valley (what?) Bonus points for picking up the POD today, so I don't get billed. However, the time I spent on the phone with PODS (about 6 hours total, one of which I got hung up on after sitting on hold for an hour and had to call back and sit on the phone for another hour), was ridiculous, the cost was ridiculous and again, WILL NOT USE AGAIN. This is no reflection on the local guys who dropped off or picked up the POD, my complaint is with how the business is run, the cost and the long hold times, which just added stress to my already stressful situation, as I was selling my house in OR, buying a condo in CA, and the last thing I needed was another s@#!* storm with call wait times. PODS is NOT user friendly, from the customer side. read more

Within 24 hours of the review posted on 2/8/17, I was contacted by a Customer Advocacy Specialist. His resolution was to forward the complaint oer to the Market Manager of their Northern California region "to ensure that all of his personnel are aware of our policies regarding our military customers, to prevent similar issues in the future". My only problem is that there is no record of such training, I and don't trust PODS very much after experiencing how much their call center does not communicate with their local warehouses. Anyways, I refuse to do business with PODS in the future, and my only hope in posting this is that other service members who choose to work with PODS know their rights up front. read more

We had an excellent experience from start to finish with PODS Moving & Storage. We had to transport a container from Minnesota to California and all along the way each person we worked with was extremely personable and friendly. Our POD arrived when promised and was picked up on time, even after we had already begun our travels. Upon arriving the California, Hector at POD in Castroville, CA was extremely helpful. I would absolutely recommend this type of service, it was much cheaper than renting a moving van or u-haul and transporting ourselves across the states. read more

Cluster Mess- WORSE: PODS took NO responsibility. POD picked up 3 days EARLY and only half loaded. Local office did not pick up phone all weekend and corporate could not help. I had to hire more guys($$$) to move out of house before new tenants arrived to alternate storage ($$$) and then again to move to PODs with U-Haul($$$). Review: had to pay two companies and twice the labor because they picked up early and refused to bring it back on the weekend. Corporate dodged responsibility and threw up barriers. So far have refused to send transcripts of recorded calls to lawyer..... will update. read more

Scheduled the re-delivery of the POD one week in advance and had the choice of two days last week or today. I chose today. I immediately got a confirming email and was informed that I would get a call 24 hours in advance regarding ETA of the POD. No call, no delivery. When calling their FLorida number (the local company does not accept phone calls from the unwashed public), I got the hat-in-hand apologies, but we can't schedule you until Wednesday. "We will review the phone calls and see what went wrong." I feel so much better knowing that you will conduct your inept review and delay my project by three days. This is the level of service they find acceptable. And this is the kind of response they feel is addressing their clients' needs. Go elsewhere for your storage needs. read more

Despicable corporation! the "support" lines are a sadistic joke on you. I've been stuck in better automated phone trees. Since 9/16 I've had 2 of these PODS's #657B108 and #322B37 in my driveway both empty, my former tenants had to unload them by hand because PODS couldn't get them back onto their trucks when filled. Turns out they can't seem take them away even empty. In fairness it is a uniquely lame loading mechanism. So now I have these 2 huge containers blocking my driveway and have lost hours of my life trying to get anyone at "HQ" to arrange to take them away. Oh and that's not enough for this sick sadistic POS corp, my former tenants are being charged monthly for storing both the empty containers at my house! I have no contract with PODS so they can ignore me when I call or ask me ridiculous sheet like "mail us a copy of the deed to your house so we know who we're talking to". Looks like I'll have to dismantle them and take them to the dump. read more

Our animal shelter has used PODs for the last 3 years for our annual rummage sale event. Alex, the Manager, was very helpful and donated a POD to us to temporarily hold all the stuff we received. It helped to make our event a success. :-) read more

Beware! Rodent infestation at this location! We opened our pod after 3 months and found rat urine and feces throughout our entire household stored inside. Pods said since I did not purchase the 'content' protection, they assumed no liability. They also had the nerve to say rats probably crawled in while it was being loaded. There are four holes in the bottom of the container, one in each corner. I don't recall being offered different levels of coverage. Nice customer service but ZERO assistance replacing ruined items (mattresses/pillows/bedding etc.)-would not even credit me the monthly cost of having our things stored with rodents! Do not use this company/facility. Will tell as many people as I can about this horrible experience to save them from going through the same nightmare. read more

I wish I could give negative stars. I will never use PODS again. I will tell anyone I meet to never use this company. Yes the fei8ld people seem to be good but corporate is not at all. We were told they would honor free deliver because we had been with them for over a year. Not only did they not honor that they charged us twice. When we paid the "Final" balance. we were charged the very next day more then twice when they said we owed. and then they charged us the deliver fee the next day. The deliver fee they said they would wave. Every time I call the resolution department their store changes. I am working with my bank to reverse charges we did not authorize. Please do not use PODS. I promise you will have issue and most of your stuff will be broken when you get your pod back. Worst service ever. But don't take my word for it. No problem with the service or the coordination of service, moving can be stressful as can be dealing with movers but PODS delivers and picks up containers in a timely fashion , it would be a perfect world if other people were as reliable as PODS. read more

** A complete nightmare. ** The worst company I have ever dealt with, in more than 35 years, period. PODS failed on every count from customer service to delivery to dispute resolution. ** The container was damaged, and rain seeped inside, ran down the wall to the floor. ** The container delivery was late by 4 days, which forced me to pay out of pocket for loading/unloading (I had help lined up for free on the day the container should have arrived) ** When the container arrived, the driver ignored me while I waited by his window ** The driver backed the container into a fence, then got out of the cab with a sledgehammer and was about to pound the damaged fence stakes back into place (the homeowner rushed outside and stopped him) ** During every call or online chat with representatives, I was told "Someone will call you with that information" and the false exuberance you would expect from a web-bot (they stressed that they were real people, but I still doubt it) ** In order to be reimbursed for my out-of-pocket expenses, I had to fill out a release of liability form, have it witnessed and signed, and fax it back. All of this in addition to the $1200 in business income that I lost because of the delayed container delivery. When I later looked at the Better Business Bureau listing online, I saw HUNDREDS of complaints against PODS--these are only the people who took the time to file a complaint with the BBB, so there must be many more. Clearly, I will *never* use PODS again, and I hope that other people who need a reliable moving company will take the time to research PODS and run to another business. read more
