I had an issue with the first pod I had leaking. They replaced it quickly, but was charged another delivery fee. After calling numerous times I was eventually refunded, and for 12 months the auto pay feature and the new pod were both fine. When it came time for the pickup (2/24/22) I was not able to schedule it online. Their website kept saying there was an error and each time I called I was on hold for 20 minutes before I had to hang up (due to being at work). I was able to reach someone on chat after a few tries. The first agent scheduled the pickup for the quickest day they had available (march 4). I told them that since the container was empty and ready to go before the auto pay (march 2), I wanted to make sure I would not be charged. The first chat agent confirmed I would not pay for march. I kept checking my account and the pickup never showed it was scheduled but the chat agents confirmed that it was scheduled on the backend. The container was picked up on the 4th. I paid the pickup fee, but I still had an open invoice for the full amount of march's rental. I tried chat first and was told that the open invoice was for 2/2-3/1! I told her it was not and then she said that container had to be picked up before 3/2 in order to not be charged for the entire month. I explained about the web issues and numerous calls and was told to call billing that "maybe" they can prorate it. So then I called billing....after holding for 30 minutes they told me that they would submit a claim to have it prorated and that once it was approved I would see a refund after. I told her I was not paying it because the container was already removed. She said the claim was submitted and gave me a confirmation number. March's invoice remains unchanged and unpaid. I paid the pickup fee. If they want to charge me for the 2 days it sat in my yard waiting for pickup, whatever, but they still have not adjusted the invoice. After hearing the billing struggles I've had our friends have decided to look for other storage options. read more

I set a move for my Dad from Idaho to California. I am my Dad caretaker as he is not capable of taking care of things like that. I told Pods I was looking for an estimate for my Dad's move. They insisted on getting credit card info etc. Estimate was ok, but the comunity he is moving to does not allow Pods. Trying to cancel the order but they insist on talking to my Dad. He is 700 miles away from me and xan barely talk on the phone. They let me set it up in his name but wont let me cancel the order. Beyond angry, I dont have time for this crap. Their customer service line people make it sound like they are helping you but instead they are making things worse cuz not a single person knows what they are doing. I had no issues with ordering a PODS box--the process was smooth and easy overall 4/5. However, the nightmare was dealing with the PODS-recommended movers, Pack & Load Services. Through this company, which has 100+ complaints with the BBB, I almost lost $953.75. The movers subcontracted by Pack & Loads, arrived late, reeked of marijuana, and brought no supplies. They walked off the job without loading a single box for me. Afterwards, they tried to charge me a $200 cancellation fee, but I had my bank reverse the charge. I reached out to PODS management and even sent a letter to their headquarters, but they continue to shamelessly promote Pack & Loads Services on their website. We rented a POD from approximately April until December. We wanted to avoid buying new bedroom sets so we spent money to store them. It rained a couple times; but being in San Jose CA relatively it wasn't that much rain. We didn't know, but the POD leaked. Our bedroom sets sat wet for months. The legs on the bed frames sustained water damage. PODS has refused to compensate us anything- despite providing pictures. They gave us a leaky POD and have no integrity to cover the damaged items. We are frustrated and disappointed. We do not recommend using PODS for your storage. read more

If I could give zero stars I would. My client's POD wasn't picked up when scheduled, was given no notice, and you can never speak to a manager, just put on hold forever. POD rescheduled it to be picked up at their convenience 2 days late when we asked to have it first thing the next day as she was closing on a house and had already scheduled movers. Overpriced and poor customer service. I was charged over 700 pre authorization that I was not i formed of. I cancelled the moved and was told my monies would be returned on Thursday. It is now Sunday and monies have been returned. My delivery date and request to cancel dates were entered incorrectly. I was giving the run around to get my money back. That my credit card had to process the transaction and the issued the money. Apple confirmed that Pods still had it processing. I was told the charges would fall of Thursday, then Friday, when I called on Sunday I was told a return could not be issued and that I have to talk to billing on Monday. I am single mother with 2 children going back to school and Pods has "robbed" them of back to school clothes and supplies I will NOT use PODs or call for a quote. Absolutely awful. Had a POD in storage for a few years and now trying to get re-delivered. Tons of unclear charges. Tried speaking to them - the first two times I got disconnected. The third time was on the phone with the agent and kept going in circles trying to get her to see the charges on my account (they can't even see the quote they send you and only have access to invoices going back a few years). Finally it was the end of her shift and I got put back in the cue again. All the while I asked to speak to a manger and could not get one. The worst customer service. I used PODS after considering all options and I almost talked myself out of it due to the bad reviews, but it worked out great and I saved $2k compared to the companies pushing for good reviews. The only complaint is that I got both a text and an email with pick up/drop off time and they were different. The absolute worst experience moving I have ever had. This is about PODS as a national company--NOT the Milpitas location, who I am sure are lovely people. The kicker is even the national PODS customer service representatives agreed that they had never seen such terrible service as on my account. I moved from LA to SF. In scheduling, I clearly stated it was not a local move and I provided a promo code for a discount. Tl;dr: neither was put into my account so I was overcharged and missed my move-in window by the apparently weeks it takes to ship a POD container from LA to SF. How much did they care? No one ever called me back to address or fix these issues. Fast forward a year later--that's right, a whole year later, and I am finally in a place to have my POD unloaded and stored. But I can't get the drop-off scheduled--it says there is a processing error on their side to try again. No surprise trying again doesn't work. I have an invoice to pay that covers the next 30 days that was due yesterday-so maybe that's the issue. I pay half of it--as I imagine the challenge of getting refunded by PODS--still doesn't work. So I go to pay the balance--payment processing error. I try again--same--I try again with a different card--same processing error. NIGHTMARE!! I am stuck in this PODS hell-can't schedule a drop off--can't pay my account. If you are thinking like PODS sounds like a convenient option-it's not. Its expensive. It's inconvenient--movers don't want to unload them. Self storage areas won't let you place them outside your storage unit to transfer items. And some customer service reps are lovely people with competence and integrity but cannot fix the damage already done and others lack competence to the point of negligence. And it seems like the PODS management team doesn't really care how that impacts customers. Save yourselves and go somewhere--anywhere else and save yourself the hassle, stress, aggravation, and wasted money that comes from trying to do business with the PODS Moving and Storage company. read more

Amendment: I am upping my rating from 1 to 2 stars (2.5 stars even). The company sent out another driver to place the POD. Unfortunately, the driver was only willing to place the POD in our front yard, over 100m from our worksite. This led to far more work on our flooded property with the need to haul everything that great, added distance. The most ironic part is that it was the exact same surface as the original area we wanted the container. I am pleased with the company for, at least, sending a second driver, but I will not up my review any further than this. We recently had flooding that caused major home damage and required a temporary storage solution to aid in the disaster. Upon arriving, the driver immediately complains about how it's his lunch break. Literally, it was the first thing out of his mouth. After showing him where we needed the POD, he immediately said that it was not possible to put it here. The area in question was a wide, grated and graveled driveway that had been driven over many times by large dump trucks and trailers without any issues and has also housed a 10,000lb RV trailer for many years, yet the driver said the area was both too small, and the surface too soft. After showing him the grated surface under the small layer of pea gravel, and letting him know that the area was indeed wider than his required parameters, he just continues his "no, I won't do it" before eventually denying service all together. While all of this was happening, we had a professional class A driver on site also assuring the driver that the area was suitable for his truck's weight and in accordance to his companies policies around POD locations. They upped my monthly fee one month in for no real reason other than they could. That's how bad it started. I called PODS to schedule the final delivery in August. I asked for the soonest delivery. I live by their main headquarters now. The customer service person said the transfer/delivery from Colorado to Florida was around $3,500. The delivery fee from the Florida hub to my home was about $350. They told me the delivery date of September 4th and asked when I wanted pickup. I said they could pickup next day. I then asked if there were any other charges that would be posted. I reiterated that I needed to make sure what the charges were in order to have money in my account for payment. The PODS representative insured me that those two fees were the only ones left. I then asked to pay immediately and gave them the new card number. After payment, I asked AGAIN if tgat was it for charges concerning everything from PODS. I was insured that there were no more charges. 4 days later I got charged for the entire month of September. When I asked why, they stated it was because my delivery was in September. They admitted the PODs representative made a mistake but refused to honor the verbal contract. On top of that I took two days off work for the delivery of the POD. They never showed up. I called around 1pm and they told me that delivery was not until the 12th. That the PODs representative made another mistake. They STILL refused to give any discount or make any ammends. They do not care about customer service once they have your stuff. DO NOT use PODS. I haven't even gotten to see what damage they've done to my items. I did take before photos. So hopefully they didn't ruin it on top of it all. read more

UPDATE 09.14.23 I've downgraded the PODS experience to single star. 72 hours later--24 past the time it indicated it would have a resolution or request for additional information--its done nothing. Its social media section responded to this review and has passed the matter to no fewer than 3 people who are "familiarizing" themselves with the matter. I asked how much longer it estimated it would take to meaningfully and effectively respond--answer- "we ask you to allow the team time to familiarize themselves with your account." Time is a metric. You must provide a unit based on its intervals for the measurement to be meaningful. Eight hours later, I was on hold--again--while a rep familiarized --20 minutes and counting and the rep hung up when trying to transfer the call. So, PODS either has hundreds of complaints its had to escalate or it simply does not prioritize customer care once money is in hand or both. Where are my things? No idea? How close are they to their destination and accessible on the day requested and confirmed? How will it help mitigate the expected additional time without my household furnishings? No idea. How much am I out in cost of transit and delay so far? Nearly two grand. read more

I am not complaining about the PODs Milpitas warehouse. The Milpitas warehouse's manager is a wonderful manager. He help me a lot on my pods. Appreciate your help. But I want to complain PODS customer service. Moving / relocate is a stress time, but the way PODS support customer make us more stressful... I have a bad experience about PODS services. I live in San Jose. I was buying a new build house in Elk Grove and plan to moving there in 6 months. So I rent a pod and storage my stuffs at the warehouse for a couple months until the house complete. Unfortunately, the new build house was not qualify and we cancel the contract. So we're continue in San Jose, and request to update the delivery address to San Jose to take out all stuffs. I was use all of the way to contact Pods by email, by chat, by hotline. But all way doesn't affected. The chat support said that he/she doesn't have permission to update the address. The hotline give me 4-5 hours per day to listening music. Email has not any answer for a week. I requested hotline to call me back and a man tell me that Pods doesn't serve the zipcode 95148 in San Jose (That's crazy - because a pods is putting near my house). I would absolutely not recommend PODS for your cross country moving needs. We engaged to have them help us move our home from NC to San Fran in January. When we arrived in San Fran and had our scheduled date of delivery (which also required us to purchase permits from the city to have the POD dropped on our street). We also had movers scheduled through their recommended moving helpers. The day before delivery they called to tell us unfortunately our pod would not arrive because there had been an issue with their Oakland storage facility and it had been shut down due to city permitting. They informed us we would not be getting our pod for at least 2 days and that it could take at least a week or more. After hours on the phone with their customer service people and also talking with a manager they said there was nothing they could do. So we removed our parking sign permits and canceled the mobbing help. The next morning at 7am a PODS driver calls me to say he is on the way with the POD!!! Wth? We have no parking permits out, neighbors parked all around the house and no ability to unpack the pod since we had to cancel the movers. Frantically we have to wake up our neighbors and then call all over the place to try to find new moving help. We ended up finding someone that cost 3 times our original estimate. PODS customer service has been absolutely diabolical. I have literally called them at least 8 times and now written over 20 emails. They have denied any type of liability and wouldn't even agree to cover the cost of the cancellation charges we incurred with the first movers we had to cancel based on the direction and information PODS provided. Eventually they wrote me and unilaterally told me the case was closed and they wouldn't make any amends for their disastrous quality of service. Please look to use another company - PODS is not a service I would recommend to anyone (writing this 6 months later and still despite taking this up through multiple customer service routes at PODS they have made zero amends. read more

Today as I sit over 1 hour outside my delivery window i have not received a single call, email, or text. Apart from that, they threatened to charge me the extra delivery days for their error! Worst possible experience. They would not even try to put the POD in 2 of 3 driveways. I showed the driver where to put the POD. Instead he blocked the driveway to my complex. I asked the driver to move it. He flipped me off and drove away. I called customer service. Some poor lackey had to try to fix this mess. Instead of sending someone to move the POD, they were going to take it to Oakland. 2 bridges and a hour+ drive from my house. I got the driver to hold off. My moving crew emptied the POD and pushed everything up my drive way on dollies. They couldn't get the trucks up my driveway. If you want to be mistreated and jerked around. Go ahead. Get Your POD. I will never again use PODS. Two examples of their poor service: 1) They told me that this PODS location closes at 5pm, but it was actually 3pm. As a result, I had to spend more money and time to come back another day to drop off my storage. PODS reviewed the issue after almost two months, and didn't claim responsibility even though they have a recording of the call. 2) The PODS warehouse worker was frustrated and rude to me immediately upon arrival since I arrived towards the end of his day. Apparently he wanted to leave early or something. Their service is bad, and even worse I'm paying $400+ a month. Very frustrating. read more

We sold our home and ordered a POD to help with a simple, local move. Thought it would be easier to have a few days to load and unload, rather than scramble to load a rented truck in one day. I won't ever use PODS again. First, they missed their delivery window. Scheduled for 1:45PM - 4:45PM. Fine, I thought...we're likely the last delivery of the day and they are running late. Their website says over-and-over again not to call if the driver is running late; "provided delivery windows are only an estimate...blah blah blah". Finally decided to call customer service at 6PM. They tell me that they don't know where it is and can't get in touch with the driver. So, I guess we're just out of luck. "We apologize, we'll have it delivered tomorrow afternoon." Got up in the morning of the rescheduled delivery and drove to work. On the way to work, about 400 yards from our house, I noticed a new POD parked in front of someone else's house. "No way. I thought. Must be a coincidence". I called customer service and sure enough - that one is ours. They delivered late at night or early in the morning. Never called us when they arrived or after they left. Not even an email notification that it was delivered. Apparently, PODS is great at ninja deliveries to the wrong address at the wrong time. Continued on my way to work and around 8AM I called customer service to put in a request to get it moved. They said I should receive confirmation for same-day relocation via email "within the hour". Nothing by noon. Call back again and now they can't have it moved until the next day. Now I'm going on 48 hours later and still no POD anywhere near my house. Oh, but don't worry, they offered to relocate it "free of charge". Geez, I hope so! On delivery, the driver was extremely careless and took out three huge branches on the trees in front our house...this is a rental unit, I hope our security deposit isn't impacted by this. We filed a complaint with PODS. They took 2 months to go through a "complaint review process" only to call and say they are not going to compensate us at all. What a joke of a company. I'll never use them again and will be telling anyone I know who is moving or storing to not use them either. Next time, I will use one of their competitors. read more

On the day of delivery received this. I never requested them to cancel. "Dear Rajesh, Thank you for considering PODS. As you requested, we have canceled your PODS container order." I scheduled the mover's and home cleaning repair works. everything needs to be rescheduled. Pods don't have anything available for the next two months now to reschedule. Absolutely HORRIBLE customer service. My family moved from Minnesota to California. We have four children under the age of four and scheduled a date for our pod to be delivered. I've called over 14 times to speak to someone about it and have gotten 14 different answers. A manager named Patrick Gilmore approved our delivery for 7-30-22 and yet didn't put it in the system so we arent getting our Pod until 8-6-22. No one has been helpful, two different customer service reps have hung up on me, and every time I'm told I will get a call back, no one does. They rent by the month. I rent the pod to store items when my floors being done. The pod has to have 12 feet clearance to set down. The driver, Mike was great. He help set the pod best spot possible could Not fit in our side yard on concrete court. I had return in week because it was in our driveway which made it difficult to go in or out with our cars. As result, I damage my Lexus avoiding pod in our driveway. Hit my garage door. Pod gave no break on rental even though I used only week. Could not wait get out out driveway. These guys are not an honest business. I didn't even get around to using them because their customer service is non-existant. It took 3 calls to get information before booking online just to secure a pod and wait for a call-back to get more clarity on delivery. Ben is who they transfer you to where you leave voicemails to only never get a call back. I call again to only be more confused about how they work so after some thought I decided to cancel my online order. It took just as much effort to attempt a cancellation where they will transfer you to some special department to do so because there's no way to cancel online. However, you never reach an actual person because it goes into voicemail and they don't return your call to confirm anything. I tried their chat feature and they had me wait over 20 minutes to get a special phone number to call for cancellations! I call and there's a an option 5 for cancellations, but when you get someone they tell you they'll need to transfer you again, but actually hang up on you!! They are a fraudulent business if I've ever seen one. DO NOT fill out their online reservation form because you will not be able to remove your credit card info. Great opportunity to bill you because they never confirm cancellation. Steer clear of these frauds! read more

We used PODS because our new house wasn't done when we moved out of our old home. When we got the PODS delivered to our new home...we got a bonus delivery -- rats. They had destroyed furniture, mattresses, etc. We ended up throwing away most everything. PODS response? "File a claim. including pictures, receipts, etc., and don't throw anything away while we review the claim which will take 90 days." We gather up all this data, send it in, and eventually get a response "rat damage isn't our problem." Don't waste your time with them. Before using PODS give everything away and then buy new. You'll be buying new anyway, and this way you can avoid paying PODS to ruin your stuff. read more

I have been trying to schedule a drop off date for my pods for 2 days. Yesterday I was on hold for 2 hours and had to go to an appointment. Today I have been on hold for 2 hours and 52 minutes so far and still holding. I have to leave for work soon. I need to set up a delivery date for an out of state move. This is undeniably the worst customer service I have ever experienced. I am so stressed. They do not let you schedule drop off dates on line. I am stuck! I will never use this service again, nor recommend it to anyone. I have several friends making long distance moves in the near future. I will make sure they use another service.
