This happened 2 years ago and I am still financially recovering from it, so I'm bringing attention to it again. IF YOU'RE THINKING ABOUT USING PODS I ENCOURAGE YOU TO READ MY REVIEW. This is the worst possible service and "resolution" I could have ever imagined. All while moving across the country. PODS proved multiple times during my "relationship" with them that they do not care at all about their customers, and are greedy as a company. To give you a quick summary - I used PODS for a move from Maine to Oregon and experienced repeated issues, including overcharges, poor communication, and an 11-day delay in receiving my belongings with no notice. Despite paying over $5,300 for the service, PODS offered only a partial refund ($525 for their errors, and $321.95 for a month extra they promised me they weren't going to charge) after multiple errors and ultimately closed my case without proper resolution or communication. DO NOT USE PODS PLEASE FOR YOUR SANITY AND YOUR WALLETS. read more

One of the WORST experiences in my 65 years of living. DONT DO IT! This company does not even know what the word integrity means. And in the middle of a move when it is stressful enough, they do not honor pricing, drop off dates or anything. I was quoted $2200 and when I went to change the date, my reservation somehow was canceled, so I received a new quote and it was $1000 more. If that was not enough, they canceled my POD that is scheduled for drop off tomorrow without notification because they said for nonpayment. The problem is that my contract says, and the person on the phone said that the money was due on the day of the drop off. They are not honoring it. I have hired movers to help load the POD, which were a month out and now can't give them a 24hr cancellation, so I am going to be charged for getting nothing done. And I was actually stupid enough to want to start over with them and when I did that they had a quote that was over $1000 more from YESTERDAY! She said the fees changed. This is basically a LEGAL SCAM ARTIST COMPANY! Unreliable. They have horrible customer service with a language barrier for the most part. They're not there to help with your move, instead they take advantage of a situation that is difficult enough, by wanting to charge you an arm and a leg. I have no idea what I'm going to do now. Signed, a Senior Citizen who is SCREWED. BTW I just found out there are other companies that offer similar services. By hiring these guys, you are promoting scam artistry in our country. Well we made the huge mistake of moving our entire house into a pod and then finding out after the fact that PODS does not in fact deliver anywhere... Apparently they only deliver to locations within 25 miles from a PODS facility. Their three locations of Clackamas, Wilsonville, and Kelly Point mean that there is a huge chunk of land that is out of service to us. We are moving outside of Portland but have not purchased our future property yet and are now learning that they can deny our request to deliver out side of their limited radius. When originally talking to customer service about our needs and our plans to move to the country, outside of the Portland area, they never brought up any kind of limitations. And after some searching, I still can't find this limitation on their website. So now our only option, if they deny our request, is to have the pod delivered to a random location, move our stuff into a moving truck, and then take it to our future property. Paying for the price of moving the pod as well as a moving truck. And to top it all off, the physical labor of moving everything multiple times, which is the original reason with thought PODS would be better. I will never use this company again, and I will recommend friends and family to not use this company for their moving needs. At this point all of our possessions are being held hostage by a company that does not provide clear communication on their services. ** Edit: The first large pod delivered was staged in the right location and they stabilized with cribbing. This second small pod was left a lot farther from the house and they used a rock from our property to put under the pod. It is unstable and at this point we've wasted moving days waiting for them to fix it. They were supposed to show up between 9 and noon yesterday and still have not shown up. So far pretty disappointed. This is the second time we've used PODS and the first time was pretty good. No complaints. This time around has been irritating. My family (me, my husband, and our 3 small children), and my parents are moving states and ordered our pods together- our was to arrive between 1030-130. I called at 1:25 asking about the delivery window- they said 410-420. Okay, cool- I understand. My parents called too, because they got theirs but saw that ours was not there yet. They were told 440. Okay, cool. I call at 430, inquiring about it again. They said there's traffic and they're short on drivers, but no later than 6. It's now after 6, and no POD yet. And they are now "closed" based on the information on the website. I am fully aware that things happen, but the lack of communication with us and annoying. No updates or heads-up. I only have so many days to fill this thing before my family can no longer be in this home- today was my only full day with two adults to fill it up.. it's aggravating. The PODS are not cheap, and I feel like my time and money has been wasted, AND my whole schedule needs to adjust. The folks who answered my calls were nice but offered very little help- they have zero control over it, but like, an "I'm sorry" or an "dang, that does suck, let's see what we can do" would have gone a long way. When we started our moving process with PODS it was actually going well. Was loving our experience but that quickly went downhill. After few days our city informed us that a permit was needed to have the pod on the street. The issue is when the delivery driver was here delivering the unit, him and I were talking back and forth about if it should go on the street or in our driveway, which both were an option for us. the driver never told us about needing a permit. If I had known, I would have just put in my driveway. They then want to charge $120 to move it 5 feet when their lack of information is the reason we are in this situation. And don't try to call and get support that way, I spoke with 5 different people combining over 3 hours of holding and talking and explaining my situation. Every person acted clueless and has to get the whole situation all over again. Even after speaking with "management " (at this point I doubt I was even speaking to a manager) and her telling me the fee would be waived, no one knows whats going on. I was told I would get a callback and never did. This place has the worst customer service I've heard worked with. Which is unfortunate because it was really convenient at the beginning. If I were you, I would recommend looking into a different company and I'm sure you will be disappointed with this one. After you've already agreed and they take your money of course. read more

Wish I could give this company 0 star rating. Items in storage came back and table and bbq was broken. Purchased the insurance and they wouldnt cover the broken items. This company is a crock of sh*t and they do not take care of their customers... if they are willing to pay for my broken items I might change the review. This place is a scam. I was told by the customer service representative when I booked pods that either of my destinations would be good to move to. Moses lake or Deschutes county. So I booked with pods using the Moses lake area first. When we had our final location being Deschutes county I was told they do not service that area. They told me I had to go pick my stuff up from the pod that is located in Portland! So essentially have to move four times!!! And now drive a U-Haul to my location. I figured okay this is not okay but I will deal with it. I had a case submitted to refund me all of my money and it was just now Denied. They refunded me a whole 50 bucks from the 800 bill. It said on there "If you decide to proceed without knowing your final destination's ZIP/postal code, you understand the cost of your order may change, or PODS may not be able to service your final destination.? " uhhhhhh NO that was NEVER explained to me. I would have never went with pods if that was explained to me that they do not service that area or even the notion that they have unserviceable areas to begin with. What a scam. On top of everything the advocacy associate SB, has not answered ANY of my calls or called back once. I've left so many messages. Now that it's "closed" no one seems to have a supervisor or managers number. Convenient right? I will never use pods again and recommend you don't either. They are horrible, horrible, horrible. PODs is unreliable , untrustworthy and unreasonable. In PODS middle California My sister recently widowed, moving from Nevada to Mid California. They have royally jacked her around! . She recently lost her husband , then both her dogs passed in her small RV as she made her way to California. She's an attorney, still practicing and she is 81. Because she lost her phone charger during the trip, lost her beloved dogs she was at a place where she could neither respond to emails or calls. . Because it took her days longer because of the traumatic circumstances , because of a snowstorm in the Donner pass area she had to take a longer route. She specifically and clearly asked if they needed anything else, when she paid for 3 pods, until she could find a home in California. They clearly stated no! She paid them and since finding a home in California they agreed on a date to deliver them, yet when we as family stopped here to help her, we're told the date had been moved out to September 8th and she would pay the extra rent. So the help she had scheduled, along with 2 family members sleeping on floors all had to be changed and delayed . She called them stating "that was the agreement she made, and was clearly told nothing else was needed upon asking them". They replied they had sent her an e mail that needed to be signed. Then they said they had called her . She not only had no phone in the days she was traveling, but as of today shows no record of a call from them She called last week from her new empty home , spoke to a supervisor (and rightly so, after getting a run around" who PROMISED to make it right and scheduled the pods to be delivered today 8/25/22 at no extra charge, referring to the original agreement. We waited for arrival between , between 3-7pm. , had movers ready . When it got late she called for an ETA today , it was back to square one , with a "I'm sorry" , completely disregarding the second arrangement she was promised, completely disregarding the wait , the great inconvenience and lack of family who've continued to stay here to to to help her. PODS should be ashamed for their unwillingness to stand behind their promises. They should be aware of the hundreds of obstacles , lack of internet, phone, and hundreds of other situations that arise as families make a move across the country, and that things happen, they are servicing people of all ages and situations . And not saying their rules are not clear, but seems only to to them, they certainly did not convey this to my sister who clearly asked them if they needed anything else, and they clearly replied no. PODS misled her, has caused great inconvenience and overtly went back on their word to fix this for her as they said they would..... So she will sit in an empty house for weeks . They for the second time again reneged on the deal and the solution they promised her last week. read more

We had to unload our entire home for new carpet installation. PODS responded quickly to my internet inquiry and gave me a quote which they honored with my booking. Their website is great and can help you with all aspects of the delivery, storing and moving of your stored items. You could really do this with no person-to-person communication if you preferred. Highly recommend. Only irritating aspect was continued emails to "take advantage of my quote" after I'd already booked. read more

Customer service is abysmal. Read the other reviews about delivery issues. Everything was 5 stars until redelivery. PODs missed their delivery yesterday, and when I followed up they assured me that I would have my things today (one day late). I have called several times to confirm today, and have been told there was an issue with my quote (from weeks ago), and that will take 4 days to schedule this move (this move have BEEN scheduled???) Now customer service is non stop transferring me or simply hanging up on me when I describe the issue and try to talk about a resolve. I have no idea when I will be able to get my stuff back, how I will be able to get it back, or where I will get everything back as I am now moving. I will never use them again. If I had only looked here first. What a mistake it was to use PODS. Everything from their awful outsourced costumer service to their "availability" times were a nightmare. We were also charged an extra month of service while our POD laid empty in the street due to them not being able schedule enough people for pickups. On top of that, they blocked our mailbox with the drop-off and we've been unable to have mail delivery for near four weeks now. I had hours of phone calls with "customer service" and a complete runaround about timelines. After FINALLY getting to a "manager" on the phone they even "promised" to come pick up my pod early...guess what happen? Yeah, they never showed up. Better yet, when I called back they stated "they had no record of an earlier pick-up". Lies and outrageously over priced. What a waste. read more

The first frustration with PODs was them cancelling our initial drop off "do to emergency." No one explained what was going on or seemed to care that because of their failure to deliver on the date agreed upon, we received our POD on the DAY of of movers coming, to which we were leaving the state the very next morning. You are a moving company, you cannot fail to deliver to a customer because you set them back. BELIEVE THE REVIEWS OF THEIR LARGEST CONTAINERS NOT BEING ABLE TO FIT 3-4 AVERAGE FURNISHED SIZED ROOMS- we could not even fit three. Two people utilizing ONE bedroom, kitchen and a living room. Might I suggest someone currently go survey what can ACTUALLY fit into a 16' container. This is what I will also be complaining about on top of failing to deliver on the scheduled date. Total value of items left and shipping costs equaled $1,518.61, proof of receipt and items were sent to the customer advocacy rep. I even used their online virtual POD fill and only filled 74%...PODs asked if I used this when I called to complain, and I said I did. But now, they are using it against me saying, "This calculation is an estimate only, Actual unit size may vary." Then why suggest I even USE THAT? To trust a moving company to ship belongings across the country, to have them fail to show up, causing DAY OF last minute packing and knowingly not having enough room when the POD arrived- This is a huge financial burden and certainly is unacceptable. PODS is a very terrible company. Their so called customer service is just the worst and it is a waste of time to even speak with them. Their invoicing is atrocious and will result in a much higher total cost than initially quoted by them. I have been trying to get a final invoice from them for over a year at their website, via email correspondence, and speaking with them directly over the phone and they have continually ignored my multiple requests. Their customer service people are just plain rude and ignorant. Don't waste your time and money. read more

I have just one word to describe PODS: rats! While the process is nice, when we opened our PODS at our new home...everything rats could get into and destroy, they did. PODS policy? PLEASE READ THIS BEFORE USING PODS. I called PODs corporate office phone # listed on the official website well in advance.... paid $2800 ....and set up delivery, pickup & transport of my POD STORAGE unit as follows: 6/26/18 Delivery of empty POD unit in Vancouver, WA. 6/28/18 Had Pack & Load service (listed on their website) to help pack the POD unit. 6/29/18 Pickup of filled POD unit 7/13/18 Earliest date given for Transport/Delivery to Phoenix, AZ. Everything went as planned w/a follow up email from PODs on the 28th confirming my pickup time on the 29th for 3-6pm. I did my walk through with my landlord in my home on the 29th & flew out that night finalizing my out of state move. I then got a voicemail from PODs corporate office citing THE DRIVER SHOWED UP ON THE 29th, THAT I HAD TOLD HIM I WASN'T READY & THAT I NEEDED TO RESCHEDULE THE PICKUP. This was a lie. My POD unit had been fully packed, locked on 6/28/18 at 12:30pm (signed documentation from Pack & Load), and available for pickup at that time. AT NO TIME DID I SEE OR SPEAK OR HAVE ANY COMMUNICATION WITH ANYONE FROM PODs ON THE 29th. Confused & thinking it was a simple mistake on PODs side, I called POD's corporate # issued on the voicemail & website. Over the course of 2 days (July 1st & 2nd) I made numerous phone calls, put on hold for well over 2 hours cumulatively and spoke with 3 phone reps & 1 supervisor. Each one told me the same thing: My pickup date is now July 11th with a delivery to Phoenix on July 20th. No way to fix, change or address it further. I'm being charged $1700 from my landlord for July now because I have a 16 ft POD unit in the driveway with zero ability to fix the problem. No one at PODS offered to connect me to anyone who could help escalate it up the ladder to fix the LIE cited by the PODs driver. All they could do was send an email to the PODs warehouse, which they did, which resulted in the warehouse reiterating they would not change the July 11th Pickup & July 20th Delivery dates. When this didn't appear fair or a proper business model for problem resolution for PODs I asked to speak with a supervisor & told by 3 separate phone reps that THEY WERE SENIOR LEVEL PHONE REPS & THE SUPERVISOR CANNOT DO ANYTHING MORE THAN THEY COULD, so they were resistant to forward me to a supervisor. I remained adamant that their resolution couldn't possibly be the best they could do and repeatedly asked to be connected to a supervisor. When finally connected to the supervisor Kathy H. She too reiterated the same things. Cited it was the best they could do and she repeatedly chose to refuse to let me speak to whom she reported to for resolution. I asked her to state if she felt POD's response to my issue was an appropriate she stated I REFUSE TO ANSWER THAT. When I cited that I would be asking that all the phone calls with PODs be pulled & reviewed by upper management she was not happy and remained firm that I would not have a resolution to my problem. After being on the phone with supervisor Kathy H for a long time and she chose not to help me further I asked if there was a way to submit some sort of "complaint" and she said yes she could submit one for me. I asked why after hours on the phone I had not been offered this option, her answer was as shocking...... I DONT KNOW WHY I DIDN'T OFFER THAT TO YOU. when asked if it was within protocol or good business practice to do so with an issue like mine she wouldn't answer at first but then said it was. She then reluctantly submitted the request and said it would be 3-5 business days for a response with upwards of 30 days for resolution. No guarantee. So now I'm left dumbfounded. At 51 y/o, after having worked in both civil/criminal court for decades, I've never had an experience like this in my life. Never thought this would be a large corporations business model for problem resolution. But I will be filing a suit and this issue will be heard by those at PODs who need to know because if this was them, a family member or friend..... this would've been fixed the 1st day I called. WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW 1 Do not use PODS unless you have secured supplemental insurance that covers everything from rodent damage to negligence by PODS as their contracts except them from responsibility. Even if you only use them for a local (less than 15 miles) and short term (3 months) rental, make sure you get the insurance. It's incredible the amount of damage that can happen in such a short period of time. I remember the insurance right after sending my contract and called to add it. They said I could not add it after I signed the contract -- despite the delivery of the empty POD being days away. What I could have done is shop around other insurance companies that would cover damage/negligence. I have recently been told that would be difficult as most companies will not cover things like rodent damage. 2 If there is a problem, don't expect horrible customer service, but rather the complete absence of customer service. I keep calling and get people that answer my questions with "I don't know." When asked to transfer me to someone more senior they say "I can't." 3. It appears they knowingly store their PODS in rodent infested warehouses, and do not take basic precautions to prevent rodent infestation of the PODS. 4. My POD is now a bio-hazard. I cannot safely enter the POD without safety equipment. I cannot purchase that safety equipment - due to COVID, everyone is sold out of the protective mask that I need. 5. Thus far, PODS has refused to make their storage unit safe for me to enter in order to remove my property. 6. Per the pest/rodent experts that I called, I should discard everything in the POD that is porous (ex. furniture with fabric). I should be able to keep anything that was in a plastic box or in a cardboard box that was not chewed into by the rodents. 6. PODS is asking me to enter the unit and take pictures. read more

File me as another unhappy customer in Portland. They gave me a 3 hour delivery window and its an hour later now. No call, no text, nothing. Called the toll free customer service number and was told that it was up to the driver whether or not they notified you they would be late. He said they would typically notify you within half hour or so of delivery so it was likely they will not be here anytime soon. They were not the cheapest container service nor were their reviews good anywhere so I guess I only have myself to blame for using a terrible company. read more

Terrible experience! When I first researched pods, I didn't know exactly where I would be moving to. I told the sales rep that, and they said the only places they don't deliver is to places where it is difficult for trucks to go such as on gravel roads. Now that I need my things delivered, they are telling me they do not deliver to my address. It's one block away from a major highway. They don't even deliver to the area! The closest service center is a one and a half hour drive away, and they won't do it. They won't even allow me to have a friend with a truck tow it and bring it back even though the pod fully loaded isn't any heavier than the fifth wheel the truck frequently toes. Their solution is that I hire another truck, unload the pod onto that truck, and then unload it again at my new place. Expensive! Twice the work! Huge hassle!!!!! If I'd known this was a possibility I would've gone with someone else to begin with. I wouldn't have taken a risk this could happen. read more

Every drop off and pick up was on time and as expected. Great communication throughout the whole process. Moved from Oregon to Michigan and total cost was $3300 (more than what we expected, but no hidden fees). Move took a really long time though. 14 days in transit, but they did tell us the delivery date upon booking. Lots of space in the pod and enough hooks to tie everything up. Some damage to our property, but nothing important - that was due to the amount of weight we put on some boxes. With the amount of fraudulent moving companies out there, we were happy to go with PODS since we knew we would be the only ones with access to everything we own. read more

PODS posted a response to my review reflecting a poor experience. And, in the response, said contact directly. Guess they read at about the same level of their service. In my criticism, noted that no one has responded to several emails nor returning voice mails. To be specific on order # 1886649,,,,customer # 138929595: on my order got an email from Matt Haase, regional acct executive 29 oct on my order got an email from michael venture on 31 Oct Both now seems to be proforma.............as Matt Haase...............has not responded to my request for assistance on the request to explain the charges for a rental when there is none....emailed on 30 oct, repeated 2 nov................no return of vm on 4 nov either Michael venture.........has not responded to my similar request for assistance on 2 nov and repeated on 11 nov Talked to an agent on a phone call on 1 nov.....at their customer service number of 855.701.6045 and they promised a response call back within 24 hours............as none, called again on 5 nov..........still no response So, in the response from PODS to my comment, to contact them directly.............nothing EXACTLY how much more "directly" could I do And to be more specific to their response....the rental was a local...and I did not cancel, they did not fulfill the delivery. To repeat, based on my experience I would caution anyone about paying before the service. Good lord, in the age of computers there can affect payment at the minute of received delivery. Finally, who ever responded to my comment............if they were proud of the handling of this.........they would have put their name and contact to the response of which they did not do. Guess my next step will have to be the BBB and then to the State of Oregon..... Pretty sure no company would be allowed to charge for a product or service not deliver !!! read more

I agreed to use the PODS storage service after calling and confirming they would deliver to Seaside & Cannon Beach. I was told that yes they deliver as long as the truck can physically get there (as they cannot travel narrow gravel or mud roads, for example). Totally logical and makes sense. I called today to schedule delivery in Gearhart (1 mile north of Seaside) and they said they don't deliver to that zip code (which is easily accessible right on hiway 101 and has a huge parking lot). So next I gave them the zip codes to Cannon Beach and Seaside and they said they don't deliver to those zip codes. I said that is not what your sales rep told me. Then I found a zip code for a very rural area 5 miles north from my desired drop off spot (Warrenton) and they said yes they do deliver there... I said why don't you just drive 5 more miles on the highway and deliver to location you said you would 4 months ago? They reiterated that they don't deliver to that zip code. What?! So they are willing to drive through the swamps of Warrenton but not drive down a 4 lane highway for 5 extra miles. Ugh! They have 90% of my belongings in their possession and they won't deliver as they promised when I agreed to use their services. They are not following through on their commitment they made when won my business. False promises. False advertising. Shady salesman. Illogical thought process for an easily resolved issue. Please don't use this company. When we scheduled our POD to be delivered to our new address in Portland, moving from Santa Barbara, the rep said our POD couldn't be delivered there, so we scheduled to have it moved to Eugene and planned to hire movers and a Uhaul to take care of the rest of the distance ourselves. We got everything set up and stayed in a hotel where we were picking up the pod. The day before the move, we called PODS to confirm our pick up time and they told us that our POD hadn't shipped yet, hadn't even been scheduled to ship, and was still in our original city in a different state. We had an empty apartment, an 8 month old baby, 2 large dogs, and both work from home. We had no information about when our belongings would be shipped. They haven't done anything to make this right and keep shuffling us off to different people at the agency. Please don't use them. This has been an absolute nightmare. That could have been at least remedied by waving some of their charges or reimbursing us for some of the costs of adapting to the situation. read more

So, we ordered a POD last year when we moved. we needed to store the POD at their storage facility for a few weeks until our new place was ready. When they delivered our POD to the new place, we realized we couldn't open our lock...turns out they delivered somebody elses POD. It was a bit of an ordeal but these things happen. Currently, we have a POD for our new move and this time they charged us for the same service twice. A seemingly simple mistake which they were apologetic about. however, it has now been two weeks since I noticed they over charged us, and still no refund. I have spoken with three employees & emailed them once, and have gotten no response. They kept telling me that someone from accounting would contact me, but nobody has. It's really frustrating!! I love the convenience of the POD, but after this experience I don't think I would rent one again. read more

They lied to me and failed to show up! Twice the hassle to unload and use another truck. Never use PODs - they will let you down.

This is a sequel and it was terrible. Let's call it Nightmare on Elm Street (our new address) with a cast of an 8 months pregnant wife, an 18 month old, a poodle mix and the father that felt terrible for 21 days in an empty home. Our first time using PODS was easy and satisfactory. The sequel was a horror story. I called after the online quote attempt and went through the basics. This should be the most simplistic business transaction. You need 1) a pick up date and place, 2) a destination, and 3) if it needs stored or just sent to the destination. A quote is provided and the date it should arrive at the destination. I call back about an hour later to make sure nothing changes. I tell the person I just spoke with someone and want to proceed. I ask if he has my info from my call before and he says yes. We update my billing address. The pick up is the same date. He asks me nothing else. We fly across the country and the POD is picked up. We stay at family for the days we are without our belongings. I call the day before my quoted delivery, but a rude rep says you have to wait until this evening. I said I was concerned with my order because it doesn't look right online. She says it won't be on there until a delivery is scheduled. I said I am concerned because it still says it is in the state we just left. She says a time will be emailed in the evening, but nothing arrived. I call in the morning and discover that 12 days after the pick up that the POD is still over 2500 miles away! I am livid! To start, I have no where for my wife to sleep and no crib for my child. She says it will be 2 more weeks. They said the info on the first call wasn't retained. How would I know this? YOU HAVE 3 PIECES OF INFO TO PROVIDE YOUR SERVICE!!! And you are telling me you either lost it or saw that you didn't have this info and didn't ask for it during the second call? They did have my final destination zip from my online quote, but in two additional lengthy calls they retained no more info? Nothing? And then assumed I wanted it stored? But couldn't explain why it stayed for 12 days on the west coast?! Shouldn't it at least been sent to the warehouse in the city near the destination? Not the one 2 weeks away?! I never once said I wanted it stored at any location. They tried to offer me $100 for my hardship! There was an auditor that said after reviewing the calls "we could have asked more questions on our end." But said because I signed the contract with just a zip code as a destination and a date TBD that they were not liable. I never got the $100. Maybe it was waived with the delivery getting moved up a few days. And that didn't come close to covering a new mattress, sheets, pillows, baby gates, the toddler safety locks, garbage can, used crib, pots, kitchen utensils required to just live safely in our new home. They ended up getting through pod delivered 21 days after pick up. And guess what? Our items arrived covered in mice feces, scratches and mice grease. PODS started an insurance claim on our behalf. They sent me a message and state rodent infestation is not covered! We had to throw away numerous items that weren't wrapped. I didn't want it stored for that reason. Pure hell. WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW: Any other option is better than PODS in the end unless you want unlimited frustration and mouse feces on your belongings. If your only option is PODS stay on top of them through every step. Double check everything at every step. It may be a business strategy to increase fees. Maybe it was a deliberate attempt by the sales representative to get an increased commission knowing he is covered by the online agreement and most people in a middle of a move have limited time to read what you discussed by phone. Maybe they lost all of my info from my call as I noticed my billing address was never updated online. I will never know. But if you no option but use them, wrap up every big item and put others in plastic storage containers and limit the days in a storage facility. That is my cautionary tale. Excellent! I moved from Los Angeles to Portland OR and the entire process was exactly as ordered, the dates were confirmed and the communication was excellent. The only slight complaint I had was that the roll up door on my POD was slightly out of alignment, so there was a "trick" in getting it to closed. Other than that, a great experience. When I figured out the costs of renting a truck, driving with two vehicles, hotel stays etc. PODS was by far the most stress-free and economical solution. Despite the fact that I hate moving, I would definitely use them again. read more

We had PODS pick up and store our goods for 3 weeks, then deliver to our new home. Based on the final outcome, I would have given 5 stars, except for two time-consuming and frustrating phone calls--for the initial arrangements and then when we changed the size of one POD. The agents kept having to restart their computers and then start over asking me for basic info. I appreciated the updated docs online reflecting changes. But the second change did not show, and I had to call a couple times to check. The drivers were great, and one helped fix the timing on pickup and delivery order. We would use PODS again. read more

My move from the Bay Area to Portland started horribly. The moving company I hired flaked on me three days in a row, after first showing up several hours late and complaining that there was no place to park (there had been ample room to park during the actual delivery window I was given). I had a fully packed house, a four year old and five year old trying to live in it with me, and a moving company that repeatedly failed to show up and kept trying to move the pickup date on a day to day basis. I terminated those movers, called PODS and got a container scheduled for two days later. Although my complex's driveway was being resurfaced that day and the POD could not go on the street, the driver went above and beyond by maneuvering the POD into the only possible location -- a very tight fit and a very delicate maneuver. My experience moving in to my Portland residence was similar. Very tight quarters, neighbors disregarding the "no parking" tags, trees in the way... Randy, the driver, was extremely patient and tried a few different locations to make sure I was to get my POD that day. I will probably not use PODS for my *next* move because I now know that my current complex does not have sufficient space to fit the POD, but I was very, very happy and relieved at both the quick accommodation of my last minute change of movers, and at the customer service of the delivery drivers on both sides of the transaction. If and when I have dedicated space for the container I will absolutely use PODS again. read more

I had a fantastic experience with PODs. I moved from Florida to Boston. I got the smaller size pod for my minimally furnished 1 bedroom apartment and all my stuff fit in it and then some. After looking at all my boxes and factoring in a mattress and a few other pieces of furniture, I had serious doubts, but I had room left. Word of advice: stack up to the ceiling!! Delivery drivers were great, delivery was always in the window they said it would be. Overall the experience was great. A long distance move is SO SO SO stressful, it was great to have one less thing to worry about!! read more

My daughter and son in law used this. All of their stuff was trashed. Clearly they moved it with a forklift and it broke out the bottom. The container had to have rolled. So much damage that I cannot describe. Oh, and they lost both containers. One has been recovered, obviously the one that was trashed. The 2nd one, at best, will be delivered a week late. After being told on my initial call that PODS would deliver to the 2 possible locations for my move, I proceeded to order the PODS and give them by business. I called last week to schedule delivery and was told that they would not deliver to my final destination. Their solution was to have a moving company come to their location so we could unpack, repack and move the belongings ourselves. PODS is the MOVING COMPANY....why do I need to hire another and move twice because of incompetent service??!! After being escalated twice, I filed an official complaint to be reimbursed, for I would NOT have chosen their service if I was properly informed about their service areas. We'll see what comes of that, but it's hard to expect much from their customer service team. This seems like a recurring issue with PODS and their service team and I would love to hear from anyone who has actually gotten a satisfactory resolution from PODS. UUUGGGGHHH. Stay Away. read more

Jury is still out. I moved an elderly relative's stuff from Medford, OR to Georgia using a POD. Everything arrived intact. I highly recommend wrapping fragile things WELL, using lots of furniture blankets, packing things high and tight, using multiple ratchet straps. Hire experienced movers to load and pack the pod because they can get more in the pod than you will be able to. Beware. PODS's invoicing is crazy. All in all, I had a positive experience using them and will use them again. read more

NEVER EVER, EVER, EVER, would I hire this company!!!! A PODS container delivery to my neighbor damaged my fence. After 78 days PODS is still giving me the run around about fixing the damage they caused. On June 27th 2014 my neighbor had her second PODS container delivered. When I got home that night I noticed that my fence had been damaged. The end post had been pushed into the ground about half its length. I called right away to file a claim. I spoke to my neighbor the next day when she saw the damage. She also called PODS to let them know what the driver had done and she was told that a claim had already been filed. She told me that the delivery of the container was not done well; that the driver was not in control of the container and she was afraid at one point the thing was going to tip over into my yard and smash my whole fence flat. I called PODS many times after the initial claim was made and no one called me back, I contacted their customer service via online chat and still no one called. Finally on July 7, 11 days after the damage was done, I received an email and a phone call from an Executive Resolution Specialist. She told me that she needed 3 bids for repair. I send them to her a couple of weeks later; it took some time to get 3 companies out to give me a bid. I also sent her pictures of the damaged fence. This was on July 28th. After several emails and voice-mails left to PODS requesting an update, on August 7th I finally got a call, but only after emailing them stating I was going to file a complaint with the BBB. The Resolution Specialist told me that she spoke to the local branch that dispatched the container denied fault. They told her that they did not cause the damage. She said that the repair amount is not very much (under $500) and they may "help" with the repair bill. I told her that was not acceptable. I told her that my neighbor saw the delivery and how badly it went and she was going to call my neighbor and talk to her. I don't know if they ever called her or not. I sent several more emails requesting an update and finally got an email back on September 9th stating that she was still working on the claim. I've heard nothing since. It's going on 3 months since the damage was done. This company is awful at communication and do not seem to be in any hurry to fix what they damaged. They won't give you any local phone numbers. I don't think they really care at all. I have filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. We'll see if anything comes of that. read more

I had always heard good things about PODS so perhaps this is a location issue. After checking out their website, I filled out and received their automated quote via email. Shortly thereafter, I received an introductory email from my assigned local moving and storage coordinator. His message stated he may be able to offer additional savings on my quote. I left him a message to call me and the next day followed up with an email to ask him to contact me regarding the quote. Didn't hear back until the following day when I again received an auto-generated email stating my quote was soon to expire. Nothing was personalized and I still haven't heard from him. As a previous poster stated this company takes absolutely no accountability. I would not let them near my house ever again. When the driver came to pick up our empty pod he slammed it into the corner of our house causing about $12,000 damage. These things happen, right? Well.... can you believe he drove away without knocking on our door to let us know what happened? Calling the customer service line is a nightmare, they are rude and inconsiderate. They refused to give me any contact information for my local pods office and said someone would contact me next week??? WTF? I'm waiting for the police to show up as I write this review. read more

PODS seems like such a great idea, especially for a cross-country move: like putting all of your stuff in a moving van, but then not having to drive the van yourself. It just shows up on the other end, all ready for you. Right? That... sort of happened. PODS was due to deliver our unit on a Saturday morning, and we didn't see it until the following Tuesday. Frustrating. But more infuriating was the hours spent on hold (as cross-country moves can't be managed online) and the days spent waiting for a unit that would be coming "any time now"-- so we had to be home to receive it. So, all that earns two stars. The unit did arrive, after all, and with only minor damage to the stuff inside. But what really seals the deal with these guys is the execrable service we received, both in trying to *find* the POD (they didn't know where it was between Friday and Monday), and in trying to get compensation for the delay. *Hours* spent on hold. Outright lies from customer service agents ("I don't have a supervisor" followed by "My supervisor won't permit me to do that," among others). Profound incompetence. These guys may be ok when everything goes fine. But when problems crop up, expect to be bogged down in bureaucracy for weeks. Oh. And don't expect a compensatory discount for your trouble, either. read more
