We enjoyed our experience at Pogo's Kitchen immensely. Our last night on the island was punctuated by a wonderful meal. Our foursome tried the grouper, the low-country boil, and the steak special. Each entree was delicious in it's own right. Before dinner, on our server's recommendation, we enjoyed the octopus, lobster hush puppies and a she crab soup. The soup was so delicate and delicious, and we loved the octopus so much that we asked for an additional plate before dinner. Sara (our server) was fantastic, and we thoroughly appreciated her knowledge of the menu and wine list. Even with all that food, we still found room for the cobbler and beignets. Altogether, a wonderful evening enjoying interesting, perfectly prepared food with great friends, in a beautiful atmosphere. read more

The food was overpriced and really not great. I WOULD recommend the cauliflower or to go for drinks -- but nothing else. I got the gnocchi and the tomato paste was not cooked off so it made me feel sick. The fish was dry. read more

So I've never eaten here. But definately will after buying the best pecan pie I've ever had. They marketed pies for thanksgiving and we decided to order one & take it home cus it was $14 not $35-$38 like everyone else's. WOW was it good! And the chef hand wrote a nice note to us personally. First time for Sunday Brunch. It was outstanding! Portions are not huge, but like dinner, everything was outstanding.

Not terribly impressed. Our friends made reservations for dinner. We called to ask if GF options were available. We arrived, were seated, and our server was not sure if anything could be made GF. We ordered a bottle of wine while she checked. She returned with very limited options. I asked if I had the salad could they also saute some shrimp to go with it? She had to check. She returned and said yes they could for $10 additional. OK. We ordered. Two of our party had salmon, one scallops, and I had the salad and grilled shrimp. One also had she crab soup. The she crab soup was apparently very good. Both salmon orders were like little salmon blocks of the exact same shape and size...very institutional and certainly expected at Salt Life but not here. The risotto was gluey and cool, not even tepid. The salad was good but the flavorless shrimp were uninspired. The scallops were overpowered by the rutabagas, per our friend, and not great I understand not all restaurants can be, or wish to offer GF options but please state that up front. Also, with such a small menu you should pretty much serve a home run on every dish...you do not! Feels like we wasted our money read more

Think twice about going here. The food was subpar and the service was slow and the waiter was unfriendly and unhelpful. We were a party of 6 and other tables came and went during our two hour slow service experience. The waiter had the audacity to add gratuity to our check when the menu clearly states parties of 8 or more. We recently had dinner to try out the new seasonal menu unveiling. Wow, my daughter and I each had 2 small plates and one entree. The grilled octopus was fantastic I only got one bite before my daughter devoured the rest. We also loved the duck entree and she crab soup. I had a mix of oysters from both coasts that were fresh and delicious with a mignonette. Also tried the onion agnolotti that shouldn't be missed if you are a French onion soup fan like myself. My entree was the bass with crab fried rice, just the the right amount of crispiness and full of flavor. Service and atmosphere were very nice as well. read more

The food was great! Service was great! Drinks were great! Would have to say this was one of my favorite restaurants on Amelia Island. We started off with a complementary peanut hummus with naan followed by our order of the beet salad and a cheese tray. My wife got the NY steak, and I had the duck. It was so fantastic that we had to have dessert. So we ended with a pecan tart that was to amazing. So happy to have Pogo's Kitchen so close to home. I didn't have to drive down town to enjoy and it's close to the Omni and other resorts. This is a must try, and I promise you will be back for a second trip. All I can say is thank you. I wish that I had taken pictures of the beet salad. It was beautiful. read more

What makes the dishes distinctive is not just the masterly combination of flavors, but on top of that the mouth-feel, the mouth-feel takes it to another level. We were greeted in the parking lot with a glass of complimentary champagne, great start. The duck hash and steak and eggs were both on point. This is a relatively new restaurant (may 2018) in a cool upscale looking building. I had the soup special which was cream of celery with a scoop of lobster salad in the middle. The soup is put together table side where they pour a carafe of soup around the scoop of lobster salad. Very very tasty and a totally unique combination. I also had Fred's precision salad which was quite tasty with dried cranberry and blueberry, mandarin oranges, strawberries, almonds and balsamic dressing. My husband had the fried chicken sandwich which was huge and crispy delicious. He was delighted that they also had a good IPA on draft, Intuition brewed in Jacksonville. The service was prompt and friendly. The owner stopped by a couple of times to check on us. We will definitely go back to try some of their unique dinner selections. read more

We were looking for a place to eat our last night in Amelia Island & found Pogo's on Yelp. They were able to fit our party of 4 in last minute. The restaurant is in a very cool building that looks like an old home. It's got lovely outdoor seating but we were inside. The design is modern with pretty artwork. They have an eclectic menu with something for everyone even vegetarians. Also a thoughtful cocktail list, local craft beer & impressive wines. They start by bringing a complementary boiled peanut hummus with warm grilled pita. It's so crazy good! I could just eat that till I explode! They have starters, small plates, pasta & entrees. Our table did a combo. We ordered the bread board & spreads and the seared halloumi cheese. Both were delicious! The seared halloumi had watermelon, heirloom tomatoes & chimichurri. So fresh! Then we had the duck, mushroom stroganoff, gnocchi, carbonara ravioli, oysters, salmon poke & beef tartare. Everyone loved each dish. As someone who eats predominantly vegetarian, it was nice to have so many options. The mushroom stroganoff was that dish that you don't want to be done. I savored each & every bite. The duck was cooked perfectly. Everything was so good!!! For dessert a peach cobbler, pecan tart & homemade ice cream rounded out this perfect meal. Our cocktails were the Manhattan & In Fashion. I dine out often and enjoy trying new restaurants and fare. Last week we decided to try Pogo's for the first time and after viewing the menu realized that nothing sounded appealing. I ordered Bacon wrapped Monkfish and my husband ordered Trout on Pork Belly Potatoes hoping to be pleasantly surprised. But that wasn't the case. The food combination was strange ... and just underwhelming for the price point. Three stars is generous IMHO. read more

Was looking forward to the meal as the restaurant looked very nice. However the trout dish I had Saturday night was on of the worst dishes I have ever had. Lovely dinner with exceptional food and service. We came last night as a party of 6 including 3 generations. They were incredibly accommodating, we noted that 2 in the party were GF and they quickly adapted. With the peanut hummus they brought both delicious bread and vegetables. Have I mentioned the shrimp ceviche - Extraordinary! My wife and I have come a couple of times before and we were reminded again that Pogo is a treasure. As mentioned, exceptional and interesting food, attentive service a modern (yet you could actually have a conversation so the acoustics were great) environment and food that pleased all 6 of us. Five of us had dinner last night. Each appetizer, entree and dessert was creative, beautifully prepared and presented and delicious. The oyster selection was so delicate and fresh, octopus was braised to tenderness, scallops, salmon and shrimp were perfectly cooked. The desserts were so lovely-- chocolate mousse with strawberry sorbet, cheesecake with coconut and blackberries, and a berries and cream dish. We will absolutely return! read more

We had a great dinner for a party of *9* which included a four-year-old. I had made a note on my reservation that we wanted some appetizers ready when we sat down, and the waiters were there with the trays like a welcome crew as we were seated. We have a great Brunch here with our kids (5 and 9). I enjoyed a mimosa and my husband loved the Bloody Mary. We started with the cinnamon roll and biscuit (served in small cast iron skillets)- yum!
