If you want some souvenirs & tchotchkes, this is your place. There is a lot to look at--clothing, decor, toys, & more randomness. The space is filled, & with other tourists it made for limited movement in spots, but it was maintained & pretty organized. We found a cute kids tee, but couldn't find the size we needed for a tank top or sweatshirt. I was able to get a staff member to help with reaching items hung high on the wall. Went to the shop souvenir shopping, picked up the shirt to look at it and see if it was the right size folded it back and put it back then a worker walks up with a irritated look on her face huffy and puffy picked up the shirt. I visited the store for the first time on Wednesday, July 17, 2024. I definitely will not be going back to this store. They had very bad customer service. The employees gave dirty looks. The young employee who ran up my items was pretty rude to my son. My son kindly greeted her by saying hi and asking how her day was. She completely ignored my son, who is 7 years old. Typical tourist store with all the souvenirs: shirts, towels, bracelets, personalized keychains, etc. They shirts were all a cheaper material, stiff and boxy. We needed help from staff to get a hoodie from high up. The only staff walking around was a lady who seemed annoyed that we needed help. She was short, impolite, and made a rude remark. My wife and I visit Pismo Beach as often as we can. We have shopped at the POINT BREAK SURF & SPORT shop before, as they have a very wide selection of souvenirs and lots of clothing. We were there recently on a Monday at about 1:15pm. We went into the store and spent about half an hour looking around before my wife selected a pair of slippers. I brought the slippers to the register. The employee behind the counter was a large male. I attempted to make small talk and he said nothing. He rang up the purchase, gave me the receipt and then began helping the next customer. The male did not put the slippers in a bag, even though I saw both plastic and cloth bags from their store on the wall behind the employee. I thought it was strange for him not to put the purchase in a bag or even ask if I wanted a bag. If we had purchased a very small item, I can see not offering a bag, but we bought a pair of adult slippers. Were we supposed to walk around town, holding a brand new pair of slippers? The male employee was busy with the customer behind me, so we just took the slippers and left. As we walked through the area, we saw several other people carrying both plastic and cloth shopping bags from the Point Break Surf & Sport shop. My wife and I went back to the shop on the following Thursday at about 5:00pm. She selected another pair of slippers. This time, there was a female behind the counter. She had multi-colored hair. As she rang up our purchase, I asked what did it take to get a bag of either type, because the large male employee did not offer a bag of any type a few days ago for our purchase of another pair of slippers. I fully expected her to tell me the cloth bags cost something and the plastic ones were free. Instead, she said either bag was free with any purchase. She asked which one we wanted and we asked for a cloth one. She then put the slippers in a cloth bag and we left with our purchase. It's not that big of a deal, but a little Customer Service with a smile in a town where tourism is key, goes a long way. Came in here to buy a bodyboard bicep leash, they had three different brands and several colors available. Spent $25, not bad for an immediate replacement. Closest thing to an actual surf shop if you need a rash guard, wax, or a board. Would definitely recommend to water enthusiasts. For a crowded Saturday I was in and out in 10min. read more

Just wanted to send a quick shout out to the Manager / Owner of Point Break Surf Shop. We were in the store this past weekend about an hour before closing. It was busy as most weekend are. My wife and I spotted a hoodie that was perfect for our Granddaughter. It was unique and had a little elephant on it. It was on display in the window and the last one in the store. We were willing to take the item in the window but no one would help us. The staff asked that we come back in the morning and they were just too busy. We opted to have them apply a decal on a blank hoodie. The guy working the press said he was too busy to look for the decal. At this point I was going to cut my loses and walk out. Then I spotted Carson. The Big Old Bear. He was very helpful and went the extra mile to make sure we got what we requested. He was so helpful and totally understood why we wanted the hoodie. Employee's like this are keepers. Not because we got the hoodie. But because he was real. He understood customer service and wasn't too busy to make the sale. Isn't that why you're in business? Guy at the register was completely rude to me and my mom. We came in right when they were about to close and one of the workers said it was okay. we had a sweater that was on hold that we wanted to purchase real fast. The guy at the register threw a fit and was giving us death stares as he rang us up. Made us feel COMPLETELY uncomfortable and honestly a little scared for our lives the way he was so mad and looking at us. We won't ever bring our business there again. read more

I bought a swimsuit here on sale and while I was checking out the store employee cut the tags off. I didn't think anything of it until I tried to return the suit the next day because it did not fit right. They would not take it back because the tags were cut off even though I had not worn the suit and still had my receipt. When I explained that the tags had been cut off by the cashier the day before they still refused to take back the suit even for store credit. Buyer beware! Do not let them cut the tags off when you purchase an item! read more

The store is amazingly huge and sells everything you need for the beach and souvenirs to bring home! The staff is knowledgable, helpful, and will give discounts if you ask. There are many other similar stores in Pismo, but none with the variety that this one has. Our family took a quick, over night trip to Pismo a couple of weeks ago & stopped in here to grab a hat/visor for me & souvenirs for our kids. The store is huge on the inside, you'll be able to find any kind of souvenir you could want in this place at any price point you want to spend! To the person who said it's "the most expensive place, don't shop here," obviously you've never been to a store on the beach before because this place is no more expensive than any of the other stores along the beach front & you can def find something at a price you're willing to pay or you didn't look around enough! Also, the staff is friendly & helpful. The girl in the t-shirt section went out of her way to help my teenager pick out a shirt & an iron on (they put the patch on while you wait, takes about 60 seconds) that was both very cute & appropriate for her age, thank you, we will be back & you should as well! read more

Worst store in the city of pismo! I have never seen so much chaos in my life, the employees are always taking selfies and they are incredibly rude! Way to over priced for junk products that don't last. I was here last year and it was in way better shape than now. Not sure what happened to the male manager but he was the only one working when my family and I needed assistance last year. This year it's all older women and they dont do anything but get on their phones and get an attitude if you ask a question. I will not be returning nor recommending this place to anyone. Unless your entire staff changes. It's sad to see such a wonderful shop take a turn for the worst. Used to be my favorite spot but now I will be taking my business elsewhere. read more

Cool shop by the beach. Unfortunately, the lady at the cash register wanted nothing to do with helping anyone. I tried to buy a pair of shorts three times! They were on the rack outside and I found a pair that I wanted, brought them to the counter and she looked at me and walked away. I decided maybe she was just busy and waited to try again. Nope. After trying to find someone else, I gave up and made my way back to miss sunshine. As I approached the counter, she was moving a rotating postcard rack into the middle of the aisle. Instead of explaining what she was doing and asking me to go around nicely, she yelled at me like I was a child trying to steal something and told me not to come down that particular aisle. I actually looked behind me to see who she was yelling at because it came from out of nowhere. Needless to say, I went back and hung up everything that I was going to purchase and walked out of that store. read more

Been coming here for years. The last visit, however, will be our final one. The staff was incredibly rude. Was approached by the male sales associate with a very aggressive attitude and when we needed help, we were ignored. If the only time your staff approaches customers is to accuse children of breaking your items, you need a better training system for your retail employees. Not every tourist is a thief or is trying to rip you off. The blonde girl behind the cash register was the holy grail of the worse type of customer service you can imagine. She not only had a horrible demeanor but she spoke badly of the customers. She did not ask if we needed help, she did not offer assistance to anyone else shopping. All she did was stand behind the register with a sour face. What are you good for then? Why are you working in retail? As a business owner, you should know your associates are your front line brand ambassadors. They reflect you! From this experience, we gathered that the owners are probably just as lazy and careless as the store employees. The items are expensive. They are not even made very well. Obviously, case in point, everywhere you look there are signs not to break anything (or you are forced to buy it). Yet its all within reach of children! Scam alert! If I could give zero stars I would. Too crowded. Cheaply made items. Employees are rude. Staff is either aggressively stand off-ish or extremely selective of customers who they help. Unfortunately, the store is located in the best location for a retail shop so they won't be going out of business for a while. Look at the reviews on Google about this place and you will see I am not the only customer who experienced this. On Nov 14th. I was in this store and made a purchase of $175.35. I paid for my purchase with a Credit Card. I had not used my Credit Card for a week and this was the only place that I used it. When I got home and received my statement, I saw a charge of $750.00 on my account. Keep in mind this was the only store that I used my card. After contacting the Credit Card Company, they informed me that there were other charges on that card from Nov 14th, 15th, 16th and 18th of Nov., totaling $3,787.00. So which one of these employees at this store stole my Credit Card number and went Christmas shopping....hmmmm? I will never shop there again. read more

In May of 2016, my husband and I went into Point Break to shop...we were immediately greeted by Darlene who was friendly and helpful. We were still shopping, so said we would be back. Once she found out that we were purchasing LOTS of shirts and sweatshirts, she offered us a discount to come back. We did. Bree then helped us because Darlene was at lunch. She took us all over the store, helped us locate what we wanted in the right sizes and even had some t-shirts made up for us that weren't already printed. She was awesome! Then, Ashlyn, who was also very helpful, rung up our purchase. All three girls were customer focused and knew their stuff! We will definitely stop by there again when we are in town.
