New management/ownership and it's unfortunate to see this place slide. I'll start out by saying the food here has never been amazing. Frozen burger patties for sure, it was bar food with slightly upscale beer variety for adults and a kids meal served on a frisbee for their plate for the young ones with discounted arcade card options with meals. Overall fun and worth a trip every so often for a family meal out. This weekend we first noticed new smaller menus, simple can be ok, no big deal. But we could tell it was new ownership the second our appetizer came out. Portions for our usual fried pickles were legitimately enough for one person served in a dish that could fit a single scoop of ice cream. Weird. One server was wearing the equivalent of hot pants and really should not have been... floors were sticky... and I could see the filth around the handle of the walk in cooler behind the bar.... so I can only imagine the state of the kitchen. The arcade is gross now and not only were a ton of games not in service but some were half pulled away from walls/clearly unkempt. When I say dirty, I mean filthy. It's an arcade, I get it, but it's clear that NO ONE here cares or takes pride in running a clean and organized restaurant/establishment. The kid behind the counter probably isn't paid enough to keep it clean and organized but he does get paid enough to literally play arcade games in between customers... because he did. And hey, maybe that's a perk of this job. But management should then hire someone to wipe the games down at least once per shift. Our server was polite and timely- she also worked here before the change in ownership since I remembered her and none of these things were a reflection of her so I shall not name names. We came here for a birthday party which was hosted across a few tables in a large room kind of off the main dining/bar spaces. We had 3 TVs in the space. The staff was accommodating about turning on the specific basketball game on that we wanted to watch (March Madness was going on). We had one designated server which made service slower than I would have expected for a party of our size. But she hustled and stayed on top of things for the most part. Their menu online does NOT match the menus they have at the restaurant. As a vegetarian I always peruse menus online to make sure there's something I can eat. They had impossible burgers listed online and not on the printed menu. Turns out they are phasing out the impossible patties and had one available for me (yay!) I liked my burger but thought the tots were way better than the fries I ordered. Someone in our party ordered a chicken pot pie and it was HUGE. Incredible portion for the price, wow. How in the world does this place stay in business? A few friends and I stopped in on a Saturday around lunch time and the huge bar was completely empty except for one random guy. Lucky for us, we should get great service, right? Wrong. First of all, we couldn't get a Paloma because they have nothing grapefruit behind the bar. So we ordered basic mixed drinks, like a captain and coke, G&T, etc.. disappointing that a bar so big doesn't even have basic juices but whatever. You know how most bartenders take the bottles that are on display and pour drinks in front of you? They don't do that here. They go around the corner and pour out of some mystery bottles, and as soon as we tasted our drinks we figured out why. The captain and coke tasted like coke, and nothing more. We actually paid for an extra shot just to make the drink properly. Getting that extra shot, though, was a problem - our bartender, who honestly acted like we were a major inconvenience in her day, didn't even look our direction for 15 minutes after delivering weak, ungarnished "cocktails." Live and learn, I guess. Definitely won't be back. UPDATE: through a series of unfortunate events, we did go back. While the amount of cheese was plentiful I found the soup to be very salty so only ate about 1/2 of the bowl. My husband ordered the mushroom burger and onion stack. Arguably the building, food, service, and beer selection isn't bad here. However I ordered "hot" boneless chicken bites/wings and what showed up must have been a cruel friday night joke from the kitchen staff because the first bite I realized was basically ghost pepper/ Carolina reaper levels of hot. It was on par with a Buffalo Wild Wings Blazin Wing challenge heat, at least to me. And I always have lots of tobasco/peppercave/valentina and hot salts that push the limits in my own kitchen at home. I've literally never had anything that hot unless it was a gag piece of carolina reaper candy or blazin wings. I don't know if un-watched staff dumped their own favorite sauce in there as a modifier or they are targeting and messing with random customers with really hot sauce as a practical joke, as I heard a few giggles from the bar staff, but that was pretty messed up to be serving random apetizers with that heat level if they're just labeled as "hot" I'm not one to complain about flavor and I'm glad it wasn't just Franks hot sauce. This place has really gone downhill... the first couple of years it was open, Point Burger Bar felt like a community center. It was clean, well staffed and consistent. Fast forward to now... The last three times I have been here, a disinterested teen has been standing at the host stand. Each time, I had to get their attention in order to get them to look up from their phone. Then, they act like you are bothering them. When I asked if we could get a table, she said, "I don't know." When I asked how long the wait was - same response. She finally told us we could "go sit at the bar if you want... I'm not sure if they're serving food." It was 8:00 on a Friday night (hours said open until 11:00). So we go sit at the bar which is filthy. Crumbs and sticky stains literally everywhere. There were three kids sitting at the bar and one group at a table. That's it. The bartenders were just hanging out, talking. We sat there for 10 minutes before the bartender just slid beer lists in front of us... didn't even say anything. I ask if we could get food menus and she disappears for 10 minutes. She finally comes back and tells us "they're only doing apps." Limited eye contact, no menus. We sat there for another couple minutes being ignored and just walked out. It didn't seem like anyone noticed. My son said, "it seemed like they wanted us to leave," when we got back to the car. I used to live close to this place and loved it. It has declined to the point where the norm is now: - No greeting - Disinterested / rude staff - Dirty / Disorganized - Close 1-2 hours before the posted time without notice We keep giving this place a chance and have walked out the last three times. This is my first time trying Points Burger Bar. To say I was disappointed would be an understatement. I started with the ward's signature prime rib bites. It was $8.45 for 6 bites, meh. It was extremely dry, I understand trying to get the bacon crispy but it dried out the rib bites inside. I did like the horseradish sauce that came with though. Of course, I had to try a burger. I wanted to go with the Point Burger but with a lettuce wrap instead but the bartender said if I wanted to make any changes I would have to do a custom burger. Which if I did the same exact burger custom it actually comes out to be cheaper. What a rip off. Tons of beer options for Mom and Dad, huge arcade, and an awesome go kart track are all on site at this location. Caught an evening meal here with family and friends a couple weeks back. Burgers here are super solid. Also enjoyed the waffle fries. Beautiful dining room and humongous bar. Probably at least 20 different beers on tap also bottled options and mixed drinks. Also tried cheese curds for an appetizer which were just average. Large game room with Skee-Ball, pop-a-shot, and numerous other arcade and ticket games. Indoor go kart track is located behind the arcade. Super fast and fun go karts. They're also run on electricity so you don't get those nasty fumes in your throat. Really pleased with my outing here. I have some exciting news to share. Point burger bar has been a go-to burger place for my in-laws for quite some time now. This was my first time at their Waukesha location, but they had another location on Good Hope which closed during Covid. We learned this weekend that they are re-imagining the good hope location as a smokehouse...stay tuned to learn why I am so excited about this. Although I didn't get one at my most recent visit, their burgers are pretty good and (most importantly) 100% customizable. Each patron is given a card with every type of bun, patty, condiment, topping, and side you can imagine. All you have to do is mark exactly how you want your burger made and the kitchen brings it to life. The sweet potato fries are crispy and SWEET, almost marshmallow-like in their sweetness. The cheese curds are solid, but then again it's pretty hard to go wrong with fried cheese. The real reason I'm so excited after my visit here? They had a special going in which they were "testing" (for lack of better word) the dishes they want to offer in their new good hope smokehouse restaurant and were offering these smoked pork ribs for less than $10 with the purchase of an appetizer. You guys? These ribs were amazing. Better than any burger I've gotten from here. And...don't tell my dad who smokes his own ribs and up until now held the crown...they were better than the homemade ones my dad makes. We quickly discovered why they were so good when the owner stopped by our table to get some feedback on the dish: turns out they hired tried-and-true Texas pit bosses to teach the proper techniques to get the best quality result. So not only were they delicious, but they were authentic as well and the care put into the smoking and flavoring of the ribs was clearly evident. I can't wait for the smokehouse to come to fruition! First issue was there was no diet soda on the menu...we found that there was actually was Diet Pepsi. Second issue, all of the food came out at once, appetizer and meals. For me, Point Burger Bar was ok. As others have mentioned, it's HUGE inside and seems to have a split personality. There's a giant bar with tons of TV's and a wall of tappers and all games and MMA events playing, so it seems like a good place for dudes to hang. But then there's a giant ass arcade that's clearly designed to ensnare screeching children. It's as much bar as restaurant but clearly they are marketing to families. Weird. There are many things on the menu, but it is Point BURGER bar after all, and I always like a build-your-own option. I went with a turkey patty, with provolone cheese, bacon and avocado, and it was just ok. The turkey patty was pretty rubbery and had a (to my mouth anyway) citrusy seasoning that I didn't love. I also don't love that literally everything is an upcharge - except for lettuce and tomato - gee thanks, guys. I did think their cheese curds were really really good and so were my side of tater tots. The burger? Ehhhhh...it was overpriced once you add in toppings and not great. (The Mister had a beef burger - the Cowboy - and said his was "ok" too) Service was good for us, and food came up quickly - they weren't super busy. It is a bar, but definitely family atmosphere too with a large game room. You can also build your own sandwich... pick the protein, the bun and the side and toppings. I like the "What's on tap" screen and the wall of tappers! I ordered their Point Burger for $13.95 it is Prime Angus, Sarvecchio Montamore Cheese, Nueske's Bacon, Truffle Mayo, Brioche Bun. I ordered it Medium and it came out medium. I also got the tater tot as a side. Service was fast and on par. It was good but I've had better. The tatar tots had a nice seasoning and was good... again, I've had better. Food must've been done well before that because it was sitting on the counter waiting for us and COLD by the time we got it home. 2 of the 5 burgers we ordered were charred or tasted charred. 1 was burnt to the extreme, and not even close to edible. I have been here once for an event and once for regular dinner. The event experience was fine, though truly unremarkable. The dinner experience was just bad. The dining room gets extremely loud, the sports bar lighting is very blue and cold feeling, everything felt busy and claustrophobic and though I have liked every meal I've gotten at the other location, the food was very underwhelming at this one. Additionally, the hostess was running around frantically yelling at people to do things and generally making the vibe of the place panicked and rushed. A couple other notes: I dined with four other people and one person's meal came out significantly later than the rest of us, which always makes things awkward. On the build your own burger card by "roasted garlic" they mean a giant pile of pureed garlic. Lastly, the sweet potato fries taste like funnel cake. I know these sound nitpicky, but when you're already in an uncomfortable setting it adds up. Perhaps we caught them on an off night. Visited on 9-7-19 This place seems like a lot of fun. Games on the many many TV's, video games for the kiddos, and lots of beers to choose from! We came in with a large group and had to put up a $1500 guarantee prior to booking in order to accommodate us. When we arrived we were treated to one of the most disorganized food ordering processes I have ever witnessed in person or otherwise. We all ordered off an abbreviated menu they made for us which was surely to make things more manageable for the staff. It didn't work! Amazingly different orders came out at extremely different times. Personally my food was ordered towards the beginning of our group but was not delivered until everyone in our part of the group was done eating. The food itself was reasonable but not great by any stretch especially for a place that bills itself as a burger bar. Here are my bigger problems with the experience. The main server/manager who was taking the orders was quite short with us and at times plainly rude. This was when ordering, when we inquired about our order that was very late arriving, and when we had to ask (multiple times) for our bill. That was the most ridiculous part. Everyone had to wait for them to organize the bills which were put in by name and player #. After an hour I told them that I had to take our kids back to the hotels and I got a bug dose of indignation and was told that I just had to wait until they got int all sorted out. Luckily one of the other parents owed us a meal since we paid for lunch earlier in the day. So they waited...ANOTHER HOUR- A TOTAL OF 2 HOURS!!!...for the bill and found out that for this great (syc) service experience the place slapped an 18% automatic tip on the bill! WTF???? PS If I owned a biz like this I would want to make it as quick and easy for people to give me their money, not hold them hostage as they beg to pay and leave! Myself and my dinner date were seated immediately in a dining area that was loud but not to the point of discomfort, which was relieving considering PBB doubles as a gaming establishment. Our server was courteous and I could tell right away that he cared about our dining experience. One problem that I faced at PBB was that, as other reviews have pointed out, the price can get steep FAST if you build your own burger as they charge for each individual ingredient. However, in contrast to other reviews, I thought that the finished product (customized to my pleasure) more than made up for the price. There are plentiful side and drink options to complement your meal. A second problem is that part of the meal was incorrect, most importantly the temperature of the burger. I ordered my burger medium and my dinner date medium well, but both burgers came out closer to medium rare than anything else. I would suggest being diligent in making sure the server knows that what you want, and checking once again once you get your food. I REALLY want to give them 3.5 stars more than anything. WHY do you do this to me, Yelp?! Rounding up because when it comes down to it they were better than a three. Atmosphere is... weird. This place is the old American warehouse and, to put it simply, you can tell. I wish there was something more homey or fun about it. Service was great, though and the burgers were delicious. I'd like to knock a point and a half for the "no customization" rule on the menu because I wanted to change one topping on a set burger, and to do that I'd have to "build my own" and spend literally $3-$4 more. I get it, customization can get out of hand, but at $10+ burger pricing I think you can manage to be a little more accommodating, no?
