WOW! On Milwaukee rated Points East's wings the best wings in Milwaukee (5 years in a row!) and they were not wrong. I was a bit skeptical at first, as I would consider myself a wing connoisseur, but I can without a doubt say these are the best wings I have ever had. I also had an order of the garlic fries and a Riverwest Stein. I can't wait to go back here again soon. Affordable and insanely delicious! my friends, fiancé and I went to points east last fall and were treated terribly by a bouncer. My fiancé began conversing with a unknown gentleman, and the topic of politics came up (i know not the conversation for a bar, but they had the same views). a bouncer then approached the bar and overheard the conversation (he did not share their political ideology). The bouncer then started in with an opposite political view. the bouncer began to become angry with the conversation and stated that my fiancé was lucky that he didn't grab him by the neck and throw his ass on the street for talking to him like was was dumb because he worked in the service industry. My fiancé was set back and stated if he said something that caused offense he was sorry. the bouncer stated multiple times that he shouldn't "talk s***" or he could get out. the bartenders were clearly embarressed and bought us a shot and stated that this bouncer did this on occasion. My fiancé went to the website for this establishment the following day and wrote a letter detailing the accounts of the evening, and received no response. This is too bad, we have supported local bands here throughout our college years but now i can not convince my fiancé to step foot in the door. I've been a fan of Points East for many years. Wings are the best. However, be aware there is a 15% gratuity charged on EVERY bill. I'll bet a lot of folks don't notice it. There is no table service. You order food from the bar, get your drinks from the bar, pay at the bar. Despite it being slow, neither bartender made any effort to visit our table or bring us a drink. Our basket of wings (very yummy) and cheese curds were delivered to our table. No plates, No utensils. Just a dispenser of thin cheap napkins. So WHY charge 15% gratuity? The bartender explained "we have to otherwise we don't get decent tips." read more

Absolutely terrible. Walked in and got ourselves a table that was just being cleared. We asked the server if we could sit there and he said sure. We waited for twenty -- 20 -- minutes and absolutely no one came up to us to offer us water, beer, food, or menus. After sitting for forever, we moved to the bar, and the guy swooped in and took our table over. No comment, no apology, no nothing. As a tourist, I walked away in disgust and anger. We were in town over the weekend and needed a place that had the Sunday Ticket so we could watch the out of town football games. This place was recommended via Yelp so we gave it a shot... and it was probably the coolest place we drank & ate at our whole time in Milwaukee. Parking is limited. There is a sign in the parking lot of the grocery store across the street that that lot is limited to grocery store patrons... but we parked there with no problems. The place is small. There are a handful of tables in front of a large bar. There's nothing that tells you that you need to order from the bartender, but after sitting for a few minutes, it was clear that was the protocol. They have a huge selection of beers that are identified by a large chalkboard behind the bar. I tried a few local varieties that I'd never heard of before and was pleased. Also, they have daily specials listed here too... but nothing on Sunday. The food menu is small, and somewhat limiting... but we ordered the wings as directed by all the other yelp reviewers. They were freaking good. Tossed in sauce and cooked on the grill instead of the fryer. They take some time but are worth the wait. I think it took 30 minutes for ours to arrive. We also tried their burgers and steak sandwich... everything was good... much better than typical bar food. The bartender was pretty busy but always noticed when one of us walked up for more drinks. The food is delivered by the cook. If you need a cool place to watch football. This is the spot... only downfall was they didn't have Wi-Fi so that I could check on my fantasy team. read more

I used to love this place but after visiting over ten times I notice a little racism. The guy that brings out the food just slams our food on the table and walks off. But when serving a white person he puts the food on the table and ask if they need anything. This happened after the four time of us coming. A quick glance at the other Yelp reviews for Points East Pub and you'll instantly see that this joint is known for their wings. So, last night, I finally had the wings and let me tell you this: OMGTHEWINGS! I've been mostly apathetic when it comes to wings. Even good tasting wings are still a pretty messy proposition and a fussy carnivore will have to navigate around some unpleasant tendons and capillaries. But somehow, the way they prepare them at Points East, they're not like that. I believe they get the deep-fried, sauced, then grilled treatment. That breaks 'em down into meaty little tender chunks of spicy chickeny goodness on a stick. I will return for the wings. But that's not the only reason to visit Points East Pub. It's a good, long-established Milwaukee watering hole. They've got nice TVs for watching the game, good local beers at reasonable prices, great music, and a hip ambiance. I used to visit this place often many years ago, when I lived closer. Since moving west, it's been years since I've visited until last night, but let me tell you, it won't be years again. Bryan and I walked in on a beautiful Thursday night, and it was game on. We took a quick look around, positioned ourselves, and picked a corner. That, my friends, is how you get a table at Points East Pub on wing night. We ordered a couple of drinks and staked out our corner. Finally, a table became available and we snagged it. Once we did, our server came over a told us that it was an hour and a half wait on the wings. Patience isn't always my strong suit, but I had a chair and a beer so I was in it for the long haul. Those wings do not disappoint. We proceeded to order some onion petals as an appetizer and a couple more beers - no problems there. Service is a little slow and you have to order everything at the bar, but that isn't a huge deal. It's just something to be aware of. The wings eventually found their way to our table and they were amazing. Points East grills the wings, which gives them a flavor like none I've ever had (and is also why the wait is longer). Go on Monday. Order chicken tacos, wings, jalapeno poppers, frickles, beer. Most importantly, DON'T SHARE. You don't love anyone enough to share those poppers with, except maybe your hot date. Don't let your friends eat them. You'll be disappointed and want more. Tacos are only served on Mondays and they seem unremarkable. But they're not. Slap some hot sauce on them and shove 'em into your grateful mouthhole. The wings are always available and always great. The poppers, though, are the reason I come. I don't like poppers. Cream cheese-filled items gross me out and taste bland. But Points poppers....drool. They slice the pepper in half long-ways and fill with flavorful cream cheese and fry them up into the delicious treat that I force myself to share with Boyfriend. Last time we went, we beat our large group by about 20 minutes. We stealthily ordered then inhaled the poppers just to avoid sharing. I do not regret being selfish. You sons of bitches get your own damn poppers. I will share lesser food, like wings. I could say things about their beer selection/pricing, or how the mixed drinks are nice and strong, but I don't care about those thing. I focus on the mountains of delicious fried items that I need to eat faster than anyone else. Note: they do not allow children in here ever, of any kind. No babies, no toddlers, no supervised teens. When I got my very first order of wings here I was so very disappointed....until I put one in my mouth. They look dry, and gross, and not at all like what you'd expect of a wing if you're not used to dry rub. However, they taste incredible. I am not a wing person yet I crave these!!! The wings are incredible. If you want anything else, this place blows. It has the worst service, there's a heavy set, male bartender who might be the rudest server I've ever encountered. But hey, he works at an awesome wing joint and I guess that's his 'thing'....being a dick. The wings also take an incredibly long time to come out. You're looking at 45min if the place is empty. My boyfriend and were sad, but had to walk out the other night bc it was a 2hr wait!!! Service: The service is hit or miss. I would give the service 3 stars. I have had multiple instances where the bartender/server was extremely rude and showed terrible customer service. I have also had some pleasant experiences on separate occasions. I find the morning staff tends to have the lower customer service standard. Food: The wings and garlic fries are fantastic!! The wings are not saucy so if that's your thing they may not be for you. Also there is only one flavor(Hot). However they have perfected their wing recipe. The flavor is amazing! Maybe the best wings I've ever had, this tucked away joint is incredible. They don't offer a wide range of sauces or rubs because they don't need to - the way they prepare their wings is perfect. What a GEM!!! I wasn't even drunk and enjoyed every single piece of this bar's food. My husband and I were in town visiting his brother who lives in Milwaukee, and hates bone-in wings. So when he told us about this place last month and how he eats wings at Points, I knew we had to come. The front is your typical bar scene, but then you walk down this weird add-on to another bar in the back and it's more of a pub restaurant vibe. We got the cheese curds, onion rings, garlic fries and the grand finale...wings. I mean, if you deep fried a shoe, I would eat it. But each of these dishes were super flavorful and perfect. I met up with my friends for the Monday night football game recently. I had only been to Points East once before well over a decade ago and remembered it being a complete dive. A new owner and a complete makeover has done wonder for this place! I ordered the wings my friends had raved about and was definitely not disappointed. They have an interesting method of preparing them that I really enjoyed. They're deep fried, then coated, then grilled. Deliciousness. The staff was incredibly friendly and offered service with a smile even though they had their hands full. If you're a football fan, this place has the NFL ticket. Yum! Upon the recommendation of a friend my boyfriend and I had lunch at Points East Pub while visiting Milwaukee. We were told their wings are the best and they were awesome! Points East is no frills but in the best way possible. Grab a table, check out the menu posted on the wall, and head to the bar to order your drink and some of their delicious fare. We went with... Jalapeño Poppers: Beware, these are a bit different than your average jalapeño popper as they are stuffed with red jalapeños which are much sweeter; however, totally yummy and worth ordering. Garlic Fries: I have a problem seeing garlic fries on a menu and not ordering them so these were a must. They were delicious and probably my favorite thing we sampled. Definitely skip the regular french fries at Points East! Wings: We went with 12 wings and needless to say there were none left by the end of our lunch. Their wings are grilled and the sauce is great. A very refreshing change from the deep fried, over sauced wings that so many bars are serving these days. All in all we really enjoyed our meal at Points East and would highly recommend it to anyone in Milwaukee searching for a neighborhood bar with excellent food. read more

Been to this establishment 3x. First time my girlfriend brought me out and it was a very nice chill night. We had the wings each of the 3 times we were there. Second time we went was during the bucks basketball game and it had a crowd, but still was a good experience. We just went again 2 nights ago and finally sat in the back bar and again, the wings were amazingly good yet spicy lol. If I haven't been in for wings and drinks for a week going on 2 weeks there is something that is now built into my brain that tells me it's time to go into Points.. it's chemical! I have been a long-term customer of this pub. This pub became famous due to their chicken wings. I can say that I helped spread the word some 15 years ago. The rules centered around ordering their wings and taking the remainder to go is unreal. I do understand that they push the sale of their drinks to supplement the cost of the wings, but if I purchase food I should be allowed to take my leftovers home. On several occasions I have asked for a to-go-box and have been told "we don't give those out." This is crap! It makes me want to stop patronizing this place. I've been going to Points East for a few years now and these are hands down the best wings you will find anywhere. They are different from pretty much every wing you've ever had and almost impossible to describe. Large pieces but still easy to eat while holding your beer, spicy but not hot, sauced but not dripping, fried and grilled but not overly greasy or charred. Consistently perfect in every way. You are going to wait a while for a table and longer for wings. The bar is noisy and crowded. And the wings are worth every bit of it. The anchorage in Buffalo may have invented it, and BWWs may have nailed the marketing, but Points East has perfected the wing. read more

The best wings in Milwaukee with out a doubt. They are spicy, grilled and deep fried, how would they not be awesome? If you decide to come for the wing special on Thursday, be sure to come early and be ready to wait. The wait is typically 45min-2 hours (Yes, I have waited 2 hours) but they are worth every minute. I am a fan of the crowd that comes for wings, but don't really enjoy a lot of the usual bar flies that are also present. If this was a cool bar on a non Thursday, this would be a 5* for sure, but in my opinion this place is good for 6 hours one day out of the week. read more

Some referred to it as "the best wing place in Mke" and when I hear that I have to be skeptical because that is a tough title to have. The first time i went there was a 2 hour wait on wings. Ill say im glad I didnt wait that long because when I went a second time and had the wings I was not very impressed. For one there is only one flavor of wings (hot), which I suppose is okay but leaves little to be desired when other places give you like fifty options. Another issue is that the wings were average, subpar even, given how dry and burnt they were. I was expecting something better but oh well, at least I wasnt the one who paid for lunch. The bar itself is nice, definitely a place where you can watch sports with the guys. The staff seems friendly enough. In short, i hardly think this is the best wing place in Mke but its my opinion. Now that Durango has closed, these are once again my favorite wings downtown. I haven't been here in a while due to the long waits for wings on Thursdays and the smokiness, but now with the smokiness gone I'll be back. One reviewer is correct, they do not use a dry rub, and you can see exactly how they're made. These wings are both fried and grilled, being placed in some special sauce between the two steps. You really can't go wrong with a good sauce, good wings, and good process. Due to high demand, they're always going to come to you straight off the grill tasting fresh and hot. I'll be giving them a try again now with the smoking ban in effect. Oh, and they're great with multiple pitchers of Spotted Cow. read more

It's like a house turned into a bar. There are no assigned tables. Keep an eye on people finishing up their food and then snag their table. Thursdays are crazy there. If you want wings get there before 6 PM. We got there right at 6 PM and had to wait over an hour for a table and wings. There is no tableservice either. You order everything at the bar.
