This is under new management and has been since it reopened with a different name a few years back. Notice South Bound are two words now and the word AGAIN has been added. While I do miss the girls, the bar is still a good place to meet up with friends and family. The people that go there are so friendly. The food is good, but is not homemade like the girls did at Southbound Saloon and Eatery. They do have some great food though. My favorite is a grilled chicken BLT wrap. You can get breaded chicken if you want also. But it does not stop there. Monday they are closed. Wings, special on Tues & Thurs 10/$10 or boneless 3/4 pound for $10. They advertise jumbo wings, I would not call them jumbo, but they are good size and yummy good. They have a lot of different sauces and dry rubs to pick from. They also have a sauce/rub of the month. They have been reviewed and said to be the best wings in Milwaukee area. They also have a big ole Gyro Tues - Thurs only. Wednesday special is Mexican, taco, nachos, taco bowl, tachos. All are very good. Friday Fish Fry, cod or perch, both are great! Get there early on Friday, it fills up. Weekends they have BBQ, pork, chicken and brisket - so darn good and tender. Other things that they offer are Half pound burgers, these are so good, I have not had one I didn't like. They have a good variety of burgers too. Pizza, 14 & 16 inch, Sunday buy one 16" and get half off the second. The sandwiches and wraps are fantastic! South Bound Again is a place I've been excited to try for a while due to their lauded chicken wings and large selection of wing sauces and rubs. I drove a little out of my way before a Milwaukee Milkmen game to stop by for dinner on a Thursday night, which happens to be one of the two nights of the week they have a grilled bone-in wing special (10 for $10 as of 7/17/2025). I ordered white cheddar garlic cheese curds and 20 wings with the following sauces and rubs on five each: Memphis BBQ sauce, sweet cajun rub, pineapple jerk rub, and maple bacon rub. The cheese curds came out super quick, which I was impressed by. My initial gut reaction was disappointment when I saw they were cornmeal breaded because typically that style doesn't get crunchy and retains too much grease, but these were pretty much the opposite. No excess grease whatsoever and they were probably the crunchiest cornmeal breaded ones I've had. The garlic was very noticeable, but not overpowering. I liked that the container had a little cup built into it for ranch too. The sweet cajun rub was almost unnoticeable. Three of the wings had little to no rub on them and a fourth was questionable. I'm not a huge fan of grilled wings in particular (breaded will always be my go to), so the char flavor wasn't masked very much on those. Maybe coincidentally and maybe not, I found that set of five to be the most dry of the 20 as well. The pineapple jerk rub had the right amount of heat that Caribbean jerk rub should have, but with a hint of sweet. Memphis BBQ was the only sauce option I went with, so it was a nice contrast to the rubs in that regard. It was a safe, sweet and tangy BBQ flavor that most people should enjoy. I thought both of these options were good. I thought they had a different wing special going that would have maxed me out at three sauces and/or rubs, so the maple bacon rub was a last minute choice. While sweet chicken wings may sound odd, if you're a person that likes chicken and waffles, the maple bacon rub is fantastic. I don't know if the bacon necessarily stands out, but the maple flavor is spot on and compliments the chicken well. My receipt said my server's name was Tabitha. I neglected to confirm that before I left, so I hope it's accurate. She was great. The right balance between attentive and letting you eat in peace. She offered to let me try the pineapple jerk rub before I committed to ordering it, which I appreciated. Kudos to her all around. read more

Me and my wife ate here probably 25 times in 2025. No exaggeration. My wife was pregnant half of the year and this was her go to craving. The buffalo wings. I stand by the maple bacon and habanero dry rubs. Mind you, we live 25 minutes away. Not ideal for us to travel that far for food but when the wings hit like this place, the drive is worth it. (Also happy wife happy life). The specials on Tuesdays and Thursdays are a must. But keep in mind they only have one fryer and your wait time can be long. Rather have fresh wings and a wait than bad wings and no wait. That's just me though some people value time more than quality. For me, the waitresses always remember us, so makes that much more of a home feel. Love this place! read more

I ordered chicken tenders and chili from door dash. The chili was all oil and inedible (I tried to eat it). At least the chicken tenders were edible but they were definitely the frozen variety. Perhaps the bar is cool but strictly from a food perspective it wasn't good. read more

Omg, so I went here after a photoshoot with the cast and crew, we were starving and heard great things about the wings so we swung by. It wasn't too busy, and kind of a hole in the wall/ local joint so we weren't sure. But people insisted these were the best. One if the fryers wasn't working, so while we waited for our our wings to come out we tried their soups. Homemade, and a meal in it's self. We tried the chili, French onion, and meatball mushroom. They were all very good! But the wings were the best! We tried a few kids, and couldn't decide which was the best! I did the blazin ' buffalo, and I would definately go back! My experience at Southbound Saloon and Eatery was a huge disappointment. My friends and I came here on a Saturday night for their wings special ($0.60 traditional or boneless wings). At first, we were really excited about this place because 1) very few places in the general Milwaukee area offer wing specials on Saturdays and 2) they have a wide range of flavors. Once we got to the restaurant we noticed it was busy because of a party they were hosting but we were seated relatively quickly. Other Yelp reviews stated the service was slow, so we were prepared that it would take a while. One of my friends ordered a Blue Moon. When he tried it, the beer was completely flat and diluted (it apparently tasted like flavored water). When we told the waiter, he hesitated to do anything about it until talking to the manager, who then replaced the beer (still flat). We placed our order for wings around 7:15 and the wings came in 4 different batches, even though they were on the same order, with the first batch coming at 8:50 and last batch coming at 9:40. The boneless wings that I got were cold...not even room temperature but completely cold. At this point, I was so hungry I didn't even care to complain because I wanted to eat. My friends got the traditional wings and they said theirs had barely any sauce. We had to strategically ask our waiter for ranch/bleu cheese/the check because it was so hard to get his attention. I was going to praise our waiter for doing a good job handling all the customers at the restaurant but as we were waiting for our check we noticed he was taking shots behind the bar, which would explain why service was exceptionally slow. I hesitate giving any restaurant one star but this was a terrible experience because of the food and service. If the restaurant was going to have a large party they should have hired more staff or closed off the restaurant for other customers. My friends and I will not be coming back. read more

I wouldn't call this a "hole in the wall," place, though that's what it looks like from the outside. The inside is nice, rustic small town Wisconsin decor, but clean and the workers are friendly. I did initially worry a little that the place seemed just a little rednecky to me, but that's just the local weekend night clientele, who turned out to be friendly and fun so shame on me for stereotyping. Bar food, but good bar food. No hidden upcharges for whisky. Minimum 10 dollar charge for credit card, so if you just have a shot and a beer you may want to buy a bag of chips to meet the minimum. read more

Went early on a Saturday afternoon for lunch. Sat down and ordered during halftime of the Marquette game, received our food after the end of the game. Our waitress ended up being solo soon after her co-worker took our drink order. In addition to waiting on 7-8 tables (15-20 people) at once, she was cooking and running the food, and making drinks. Given the circumstances, she did a good job and was polite about the long wait for everything. I had the cajun chicken sandwich (grilled), was very good, with an almost sweet cajun sauce on it. Sour cream and chive fries were solid, ranch never arrived, but they were decent plain. If bar food is graded on a curve, Southbound is a 4/5 based on the food. On a normal day, I would think the service is better with 1-2 more people helping out? TL;DR Decent bar to grab a bite at if you're in the area, service was extremely slow on my first (and so far only visit). Overall, I'd give it 3.5/5 if Yelp let me award half-stars. read more

Called in an order to pick up, food was ready and was good except for the curly hair I found in my food. There were no signs to wear a mask and not one worker including the chefs and customers had a mask on. Also there was no social distancing or hand sanitizer anywhere. I reviewed Southbound about 2 years ago...before I knew just how fantastic the place is. Now, after countless meals and even harder to count, beers, I am confident that Southbound is my favorite bar. They just renovated the exterior so it looks less of a biker bar and more of a sports bar. Not sure which I like better. On the one hand, the "hole-in-the-wall" aspect is something that appeals to me, but I'm a huge sports fan, able to watch almost ANY sport known to man. With the assortment of tv's and the willingness of the staff to change the channel to what you want, it's a fun spot to catch a game. The food!!! Listen, it's not a sit-down, 5-star restaurant, but what it is (a bar with bar food), it is special. I've had wings all over the place but I'd have to say that the "blazing" buffalo wings, fried for a few minutes and then grilled to perfection...well, I have a hard time not ordering 6 just to start my visit. The burgers are big and juicy and cooked to your specifications. And if you need a late night, end-of-the-night snack, the onion rings and fries are pretty damn good too. Lastly, over the years now, I have had the chance to talk to the bartenders and the owner and they really couldn't be sweeter. Sarah, the two Kelly's, Aleshia, Angela, Stephanie (I honestly don't know all of their names)...they all appear to love their job and look forward to the returning customers. The wings and other things I've ordered is awesome bar food. The service absolutely sucks. The bartenders/servers act like you are bothering them. It's really slow too. I mean 45 minutes- 1 hour wait is normal, even when it's slow. They are fowl mouthed, grumpy and usually only give their regulars (drinking $3 beers) attention instead of the table ordering food AND drink. Bad business decision. Been going to Southbound for decades, Burgers, Tacos, Ribs and more are all great. Prices that won't break the bank. Nice side patio for sitting outside in nice weather. Food was good, not great. Server was friendly, but also seemed hungover and discombobulated. Most important to note is she was our server, bartender, cook, busboy, and dishwasher. I would generally not mind this for a neighborhood bar and grill. We weren't in a hurry and there were only 4 other people there when we got there so I didn't think it would be an issue. It took us 20 minutes to get our first drink, 50 minutes to get our food after ordering, refills were essentially nonexistent, and we asked for the bill 4 times before getting it. read more

This is a hidden gem. The staff works hard and fast. The food is fantastic and perfect for a great night out with friends. We had wings and 2 different burgers. I recommend the Hangover burger. Looked this place up based on some yelp reviews and it turned out to be a wonderful place! I loved the ambiance, very old western with lots of wood and rustic artifacts. I really love the feel of this place because of that. Our waitress was very nice, but was a bit on slower side. There were some rowdy people at the bar, so perhaps she had her hands full. I didn't go on a ribs night, but instead had the pulled port sandwich. Holy cow, whoops I mean Holy pig! Really amazing pulled pork. There are a couple pool tables, some video games, drink and food specials, and a dart board. I'd go back for sure. read more

Wow! Best rack of ribs I've ever had. We were visiting the area from Chicago, camping nearby at cliffside county park. Spotted this place on Yelp and decided to try it. The ribs were amazing, meaty juicy and tender with a great tasting sauce. Wish we lived closer but could definite see myself driving an hour and a half just to have them again. read more
