Read the reviews, had to try the wings. Sadly, it took about an hour (spent at another bar, thankfully) to find a table to sit at. Then, I was told at the time of my order that it would be about an hour before the food was ready. Having read that in previous reviews, I wasn't shocked, just a little put off. An hour? For wings and a grilled cheese sandwich? Well, almost. 50 minutes later, they were on the table. And...they were great! Spicy, smoky, definitely some of the better hot wings I have enjoyed. Instead of being saucy, they are grilled and have a nice crispy char on them. Unique. Delicious. Worth the wait? Yes, just order a drink and relax. A bit of a ridiculous wait? Yes, but I get the impression these guys don't care. Its just the business model, and I am ok with it. Apparently, so are most other people who come here. This place is in the running for *that* spot - a regular drop in locale for a weeknight. Only my second night in town so I will have to see what it's like on a weekend sometime. I stopped here last night for some NBA finals action and sat at the bar. Great atmosphere and solid rotating beer selection. If you can't find a beer you like in bottle or draft, you're strange. Now onto the food. I ordered a beer from their rotating draft list (which I saw in advance online. love that) and put in an order for a dozen wings and some sweet potato fries (NOTE THAT THEY DO NOT DO TO GO ORDERS ON THEIR WINGS!). Given that I wasn't in a hurry, waiting really didn't bother me. Their wings took a bit because they fry them and then grill them with sauce (not actually dry rub but it's hard to know unless you find out from the staff). They were an excellent change of pace from regular "wings" and the sweet potato fries are a perfect combo to go with them. Might be a bit much food for a normal person but I was starved. Service was excellent. Friendly staff that made sure I had what I needed, without waiting. They've earned my business for the long haul - so excited that it's only a 5 minute walk away. read more

Summary: After coming in, I soon found out that the main reason most people come here is for their wings. Take note that they only cook one type of wing, but this results in consistently well made wings. The wings take a while to cook because they are not your ordinary wing that has been drenched in dry or wet rub after being fried in oil. They actually use a wet rub prior to grilling them over an open flame. This results in a wing that is less messy (compared to most wet-rubs) and provides a great char. I'm salivating thinking of it. Pros: The wings. As summarized above. Social scene of mostly post-college 20s and slowly maturing 30 somethings. People are nice. Additionally, the beers that i got here were cheap and they had a wide selection if you wanted to pay more. Cons: This is a packed pub. You can expect to wait nearly 15-20 minutes to be served at the bar. Also, if you order wings, their main staple, you can expect to wait an hour for them to be served. I went on a Wednesday with a group of friends and i heard this is expected. Note: This place does not have waiting staff. The way you order is by fighting through to the bar and telling them where your table is at. But hey, they actually remember! Given the cons, I do feel this place is worth a try if you love wings. DUDE! Came here for the wings and boy, my stomach was happy! As a chicken wing snob, I was delighted to try their chicken wing rub. Although they have one type of wing flavor, they do it well! We had the 12 count wing and it is filling between two people. We also had the garlic fries that were LOADED!! with minced garlic, which made my friend and I really happy! It's a Badgers bar, but I felt as a person that doesn't watch college football, pretty welcomed and the bar was still at a noise level that I could talk easily. I am not a big fan of spicy food, however this is the one place I will make an exception. I have only gone here once, hence why I am giving it a four. One of the features at Point is their 50 cent wings. I am sure many of you may say you have had something much spicier. But considering again I am not a spicy food lover, these were fantastic. In addition they have a great section of beers. Once criticism of the place is the long time you wait for your order (hour and a half for me) and you do not have a server. Yes, come for the wings, but stay for everything else. No avoiding it, the wings are what bring people through the door, and they are amazing. You might wait over an hour to get them, but they are still worth the wait. Plan accordingly. That being said, the wings are not the only amazing thing about this place. The entire staff are beyond amazing. There is little time in a busy place for conversation and chit chat, but every bar tender/cook/doorman I have encountered have been salt of the earth. Look beyond the wings, the rest of the menu is prepared with just as much care as the wings, and it shows in the product. Just remember that this is a bar that serves food, and not a restaurant that has a bar. Points East Pub simply has the best wings Milwaukee can offer. We had a group of 8 people who went around 9 at night. The restaurant is primarily self service so help yourself to a table. It did take about 15-20 minutes for someone to come and clear off our table since previous use. Aside from that, we ordered wings, garlic fries, jalapeño poppers, and grilled cheese. The wings do take some time to come out but the first bite into them will help you realize why it's worth the wait. The crisp flavorful exterior paired with the juicy meat of the wings delivers an experience that leaves you wanting more. If you are ever going on the day of a big game (basketball, football, baseball, etc.) be prepared to wait extended periods of time. They do not offer carry out or call ahead so you eat what you order. read more

This is a nice place to grab a drink and watch the game, but anyone coming here thinking it is going to be table service with THE BEST WINGS EVER are probably going to be disappointed. Now, the wings are really good, but even the normal flavored ones can be a little spicy. If you like meaty, grilled, spicy wings with a good 45min to a hour wait built in for you to have a few beers and talk while you wait, then this is the place for you, and you should make this a place to check out. If you are impatient, need your hand held and instant service though, you might want to save yourself the headache. I don't say that to be mean, but honestly your not going to get fast one on one service here. The bartenders are for the most part nice and knowledgeable real people (tip them well as they do a lot of extra stuff around here), and the clientele leans towards average and laid back. Once the new kitchen is done maybe this place will change, but I hope it does not. It has a nice Lower East Side vibe to it, and it lacks pretension. Very disappointed in the service I received. When I first came in everyone here had already had their food so we felt like the wait for our food after we ordered wouldn't be too long. However we were mistaken, after one hour of being here we still had not gotten our food. Normally I wouldn't mind if the waiter or waitress had simply come over to inform us of the delay but that never happened. I really debated leaving as it think it's ridiculous to sit somewhere for so long and never receive your food however I know most places are struggling due to the pandemic so I wanted to support a local place. However, this will be my last time coming here because there is simply no excuse for the extremely long wait times and the servers who feel as if their only job is to take our orders then ghost the table. But hey if you have one hour of your life to spare waiting on wings to be made then sure go here. I'm just extremely appalled that it took over an hour to make 6 wings and a half order of fries! read more

I don't get the fuss over the wings. First off, they aren't fried, they are grilled as many other reviews have noted. I wasn't aware of this before I came and was kind of shocked when they arrived at our table grilled. They certainly aren't bad and other people at my table raved about them but I left disappointed. The heat is minimal for anyone who enjoys heat. Flavor is good and the wings are sizable and moist. Service is pretty minimal and overall the atmosphere seems to tilt to the weird side. Another stop, although unscheduled, on the #Birdy30 Wing Tour. Everyone, and I mean Everyone, says to go to Points East for the Best wings in the City. For a while, we had decided not to go to Points East simply because everyone said to. I figured it was just one of those things, that everyone had just gotten so used to saying Points East had the best wings, but no one had really gone in a while and actually compared them to other, newer places. We went in on a Thursday night about 630pm. It is a fairly small place with, maybe a dozen tables. We were lucky to get a high top table for the 4 of us. I have to admit, the wings were pretty darn good. Expect to wait about an hour for the wings. They are slow cooked on a grill, giving the skin a nice crispy, charred coating. They are a bit on the spicy side, but a nice cold beer will wash them down nicely. I will agree that Points East wings are above average, but they have some fierce competitors out their on their claim for "The Best"! read more

Also, they only have one flavor, which says to me, if you don't like our wings, eff you. Which, shows confidence in what you are doing, which is pretty pretty cool. Negatives, not too great of a beer selection, sort of a dive bar, which I have nothing against, but the joint is pretty expensive for being a dive bar. First of all I will confirm from first hand experience that the wings at Points East are by far the best in Milwaukee. No messy sauce here. Just a delicious spice rub that will make you dream of their wings at random moments in your life. The bar area has a nice neighborhood bar/slight sports bar feel (only because of the flat screens showing games). Other bar food choices are good and worth a try if you aren't in the mood for wings. Lot's of drink choices. Backroom has live music and is one of the most comfortable places to see bands in Milwaukee. I highly recommend Point's East but remember...you may have to wait quite a while for the wings. They are in high demand and made to order. But afterwards you will truly understand the saying, "Patience is a virtue." read more

We met friends here for a Packer's game, and we were somehow able to get a table! It was full, but not crowded, if that makes sense. They have a giant selection of beer, a full bar of liquor to choose from, and - oh my goodness - amazeballs wings. Just delightful. We hadn't eaten dinner before going out, so we also got a half order of fries, and a chicken quesadilla. Everything was delicious, but the wings really stood out. They marinate and grill them, so they are SUPER flavorful. And unlike some other wing touting places, they don't charge you extra for celery sticks. I mean, you've GOTTA have celery sticks with wings! Also, gotta give props to the quesadilla. At first, I was all like, "Man, they burnt our 'dilla!" but then I was like, "Oh, wait, they -grilled- it!" And it's not just cheese and chicken in that tortilla. They've got some other veggie stuff to make you feel like you're eating kinda healthy bar food. We were well satisfied, and our bill wasn't over the top. The chicken wings at this joint are amazing! They use a spicy dry rub and grill them, so they have a nice char and taste like summer. I was there on a Thursday night around 10 pm and they were pretty busy. I found a spot at the bar with no problem. I have been there before, with a friend, around the same time and had to wait a short time for a table, so be prepared for that. Also, keep in mind that everyone else is there for the wings too, so there might be a little wait to get them or they might even sell out later on a busy night. What can I say, this place is awesome. I hate to use a cliche, but it is a diamond in the rough. While it appears the neighborhood locals have sniffed it out, the masses appear to have not found it yet. We ordered the onion petals, garlic fries, and wings. The onion petals, while pedestrian, hit the spot and go great with a cold draft. The garlic fries were simple but absolutely tasty and covered in fresh chopped garlic. The wings, only served in one flavor, are unique and unlike any I have ever had. They are fried then grilled giving you the best of both worlds. When my brother first told me about this place my first thought was that the wings must be dry after all the cooking, however I was wrong. The original buffalo sauce is perfectly spicy and the grilling makes it so it doesn't create a mess when eating it. In this day and age, it's hard to find a novel take on the chicken wing, but Points has found a unique way of doing them that no one else has. Lastly, I don't think I have ever gotten food so quickly in my life! We got our full order out in less time than it take McDonald's to serve up a BigMac. Bravo, Points East. 1st time at Points East Pub the night of Sat. Nov. 2nd, 2013 & LAST for sure! HORRIBLE customer service from the woman w/dark hair cooking/behind the bar as well as a male bartender w/maybe dark blonde hair that appeared to be mid-late twenties. I'VE NEVER been so disrespected at an establishment in my life! I will be spreading this review via word of mouth as well! Only been in Milwaukee for 2 yrs & was recently referred to this place by a few people to try their wings. Was looking forward to this place until: 1. No one greeted my boyfriend & I nor did anyone tell us orders should be placed at the bar if sitting at the tall tables or booths. The 3rd employee walked right past us as we squeezed in this small pub to give a table their food. He could have at least circled back, said hello & asked if we've been there before, etc. We waited 10 min before inquiring. My only mistake was waiting-should have left then. 2. I requested an apple martini since it appeared to be a bar with an array of flavored* spirits. My boyfriend came back & told me the bartender couldn't find the bottle, so I told my boyfriend to get a beer. I was given a glass full of vodka. I asked for more apple pucker or flavor to be added & was told they didn't have that. May I add the lady grilling kept chiming in every chance she could. The bartender should have stated that in the very beginning instead of assuming I'd be okay w/getting wasted. Let ME make that choice. A glass of straight apple vodka is NOT what an *apple* martini is. Any flavored martini includes 1 or more of either juice or a liqueur in *addition* to the vodka. I told him this & his sassy reply was "well this is our standard." Yeah right!! He should've just accepted the fact that he was wrong & should NOT have assumed I'd be okay with straight vodka. My boyfriend & I are in the 30yrs + club & have had way too many martinis in our college & post college years to know what an APPLE martini is! You don't have to be a bartender to know this. So I just looked at him in shock & he asked if I wanted something different & I requested the beer. 3. He charged me for the martini. I questioned him about it & was told it was "too late!" It's NEVER too late. Bartenders & waitresses make mistakes all the time & if you ring up the wrong item you'd fix it. You wouldn't leave it incorrect on a customer's bill & bully them into paying for it!. Then he said something about the credit card machine being a separate system. Since that is true, he should have swiped my credit card with the without the martini & fixed the register later if he wanted to bring that up. Otherwise, don't mention it. 4. Instead of me getting loud, ignorant, & having my boyfriend go to jail over beating up the bartender, I told him to get the Manager otherwise I'd call the police. I refuse to have an establishment bully me into paying for something I wasn't happy with. So the cook/lady gets on the phone,comes back & starts chiming in yet again! Let the bartender handle it since he made the drink & charged me for it. She starts trying to argue with me & has the nerve to tell me I should have requested apple pucker when I ordered a drink. Lol. Really? I should NOT have to coach a bartender on how to make an apple martini! Who does that? I ended up having to tell her I didn't want to argue & that I just wanted a solution. 5. She gave me 2 ignorant options. The 1st was pay for the bill, the 2nd was get a refund in cash for the drink and band from the pub. I opted to the 2nd option. I would be a fool to step foot in that immature, disrespectful pub ever again & I told her that. I'm really hoping management was not behind these options & that it was this annoying lady lying. I would normally contact the Manager myself, but this review was more important & I really don't even want to rehash the situation w/anyone associated w/this pub, I'm so turned off. Order consisted of: Jalapeño Poppers Chicken Wings Garlic Fries This is probably the biggest disappointment I've experienced in regards to food. The highlight of the meal was the jalapeño poppers. I like that they use pimento peppers (shouldn't it be Pimento Popper then?) and the cream cheese has a sort of Santa Fe flavor. The chicken wings: meh. I'm not entirely sure how this place makes a best wing in Milwaukee list. The wings weren't bad by any means, don't get me wrong, but I'll say Who's on Third does a better wing. Much better actually. The fries were solid, nothing to write home about though. Also a huge draw back is the entire atmosphere. It's extremely odd for a place to not allow take out for wings, burgers, etc. (typically "let me go grab an easy bite" foods). It seems like a place where they wanted to be a good bar and they served food once and it was a hit but now the bar is getting out shined by the wings and they don't like it. This just isn't my type of place I suppose. 2/5 maybe if I ran out of gas in the area and decided it would be a better idea to get food than gas I would go back but I wouldn't do that so I won't be going back read more

Rather than waiting the reported 2 hours to wait for 40 cent wings on a Thursday I decided to try them out on a Sunday for dinner. Needless to say, I have no idea what all the hype was about. I had to question whether or not I ordered hot wings...the salty taste took over the heat..or what should have been. They were grilled which was great, but the dry rub just tasted burnt and didn't help the flavor. There was an okay amount of meat on the wings...but nothing to make up for the lack of quality otherwise. Going to Points East was a waste of time and money. read more
