I've been to a lot of poke places and have been waiting to try poke bistro. Parking is poor but if you go around to the side of the Mexican market, there usually is a spot. We got the regular bowl and a Poke burrito with soy wrapper. The prices are good and the variety of choices are abundant. You can get one of every topping included in the price with extra scoops of toppings costing more. The fish was fresh and tasted pretty good but the scoops of fish are very small. The large bowl is five scoops of fish essentially equivalent to three scoops at any other poke establishment. They give you a lot of rice, too much rice to make up for the smaller serving of fish. The burrito was the worst. I just had a Poke burrito at Pokirrito in San Diego and this burrito here at poke bistro was very poorly made. My first four bites had no fish in them and the way it was rolled all the fish was on one side and not in the middle. Each bite was essentially real sweet sushi rice. Do not get the burrito. We also had a regular bowl and it was average. Again tons of rice. If you are in that parking lot I recommend the Mexican market for really great Mexican food from the deli. If you want poke, go to pokilicious instead. Update June 2017 Trying this place again. They are much better than my first visit. More toppings - grilled eel, yellowtail, spicy salmon, spicy octopus, etc. the scoops are still super small but the new toppings and help. Place is clean. Service is great. Workers are nice. The food taste good and I like how there is a decent number of cooked options like crawfish and shrimp which helped satisfy my poke craving during pregnancy. For raw options they have a decent number of options too aside from traditional salmon and tuna options they have Hawaiian tuna and salmon option which is already marinated. My only complaint is the scoop sizes. They give the smallest amount of fish. So it's disappointing in that aspect. Otherwise food taste good as well as the sauce options. read more

Tried Poke Bistro for the first time with my wife and daughter for the first time. We had a great experience and will definitely be regulars at this place. Please keep up the great work. Poki Ave hands down has the best Poki bowls in the West! The size of the bowls are much more generous and cost less than Pokilicious. Great selection of toppings along with a great fish selection, shrimp and octopus! All the ingredients are fresh and superior in quality. As far as service, the employees are courteous, friendly and very professional. The staff are either extremely well trained or they're simply just great people and hardworking. I've been coming here for about 2 years for their fresh and well presented poke. My last few experiences have unfortunately compelled me to write this 1* review. The fish is unsafely presented and most recently, the worker counted money and touched the floor before preparing my food! (03/29/21 at noon) I've worked at a poke joint, and the first thing I learned was to not serve hot rice under cold raw fish as it would heat the fish to a potentially dangerous temperature where harmful bacteria grow. My last three purchases have been served over HOT (not just warm) rice. Considering it's take-out only, this is especially dangerous as the food will sit for 20-30 minutes till you return to home/work! The tipping point was when the worker forgot to ring up the ladies in front of me for their drinks. I sat watching my food UNCOVERED as a line grew out the door because of this process. The employee dropped a penny when handed the cash and fumbled around on the ground for it. She then grabbed my food and covered it, and touched my utensils and napkins without sanitizing/gloves. I couldn't eat my poke today. I paid for it in hopes the rice wasn't hot. Unfortunately it was hot, and my fish was warm when I got home 6 minutes after purchases. I love poke, and this is one of my favorite poke places near UCR. I always go with my regular order: half brown rice, half salad, with three fish (salmon, tuna, and yellowtail), all the toppings, and spicy mayo sauce. Pretty standard poke -- quality fresh fish, good portions. I always leave feeling super satisfied and full. I've never had to wait too long, and the servers are always super efficient and friendly. To top it off, super close to Boba Fiend-- a great combination when you want to treat yourself for the day. Poki Ave or Poki Bistro? Well, whichever name they do decide on doesn't matter... What matters is that their poke bowls are the best in town! You'll find this little establishment located just off of Blaine and Iowa (north of the shared 60/215 freeway), next to Boba Fiend Tea House. Parking can get busy as the lot for this plaza is small. What's great about this poke place is that they offer both poke bowls or burritos. On my first visit, I really wanted to try their poke burrito because I had been longing to try another spot in San Diego that offers this; however, the employee advised me that it would take a bit longer to make the poke burritos. I was on my lunch break and didn't have much time to spare so I opted for the poke bowl instead. I ordered my usual half brown rice-half salad and added on my toppings (everything except for jalapeños and pineapple... I shouldn't have added the tomatoes because it didn't taste right). I went with a Regular Bowl, which gives you 3 scoops of fish. I chose Spicy Salmon, Ahi Tuna, and fresh Salmon. I'm super picky when it comes to sauces so I asked for mine on the side. I got both Ponzu (with a splash of Sesame Oil) and Spicy Mayo, separate sides. My poke bowl creation was amazing, to say the least. Although the scoops are smaller in size, the quality makes up for it. The fish were so fresh and the ponzu with the salad was citrusy-goodness. Spicy Mayo was actually spicy and so good! Mmm! The employees were really friendly and quick with putting my bowl together. They made it look presentable too (my bowl was camera-ready), haha! The facility was clean and they had so much natural light coming in so the whole interior lit up quite nicely. Overall, I love Poki Ave (or Poki Bistro) because the food quality and taste were great, staff was excellent, facility was clean, and the price was good (no extra charge for seaweed salad, yay)! I think I've found a new spot for Poki. While I'll miss Richard's Fresh Box, Poki Ave. Is a fine addition to the UCR periphery, especially since Boba Fiend is right next door to cure a milk tea craving. Upon entering I noted the interior changes: brilliant white walls with bold, black logos. The effect is inviting and reminiscent of the Ying and Yang. The menu board lists the appropriate steps necessary to build a custom dish, or in my case, a Poki burrito. I selected seaweed for the wrapper and the creating began. What I Got: inside my burrito I had cucumbers, green onions, ginger, spicy Krab, and avacado, and that was just for starters! Then, I selected the alloted two-scoops: Spicy Tuna and Spicy Salmon. The third step involved picking one or more sauces. I already had three spicy ingredients so I asked the guy building the burrito what he suggested. Immediately he replied "sesame oil and Ponzu." Good call! The finishing touches included fish roe, wasabi and red onions. How he got all that to roll up so neatly and tight I don't know, maybe he's gotten practice rolling something else? ;-) Taste: fresh, definitely fresh. Plus, the various textures had their own contributions. I immediately decided that when I get the Poki call, I'll come here. Parking is manageable, so that's another plus. read more

With the weather in Riverside being comparable to the weather inside Satan's butthole and all, I have really taken a particular liking towards cold poke bowls. Poki Ave is a brand new spot that I heard about and saw through social media when they were giving out free bowls at their grand opening last week! Unfortunately, I wasn't able to check it out last week for a free bowl, but FORTUNATELY, I was able to have an unbiased experience...because free food often seems like "better" food. (everyone I knew that got a free bowl said that this place was great) So yeah, I got to check this place out and IT IS GREAT! I do like how it is cheaper than another Poke competitor in the area... and how there are so many toppings/extra vegetable options to add! Some different ones worth mentioning: edamame, jalapeños! I enjoyed a bowl with rice + shrimp and spicy tuna as my fish toppings. They also do not charge for added ginger...like another Poke competitor in the area... Water cups are by the utensil area and the seating area is super clean and brand new, too! The only reason that I did not give this place a 5-star rating is because customer service is still a work in progress (which is no problem! I understand.) I came in around 3PM and there was only one male employee working. He very unenthusiastic and kind of seemed like he was rushing me to just get my food and go -- little did he know that I was waiting for a friend who was on her way. When you're craving sushi, but don't want ayce then this is your place to go! They opened about a month ago. They are located in the plaza right next to Boba Fiend. The place is small with about seating for 15 people. Very clean, very friendly, and easy to order! I've also been searching for the sushirito in Riverside for the longest time so I was very excited they have it. With that being said, i ordered the burrito with salmon and spicy salmon. You get unlimited toppings, but they advise you its gets hard to wrap when there are too many items in the burrito. Each additional scoop is $1.50 and the burrito comes with two. I got the spicy mayo sauce. The burrito was delicious! The fish is fresh and cold. The spicy mayo gives it a little kick. At the end of your meal, complimentary green tea ice cream was served to us. i purchased a bowl today, wednesday october 5th 2022. $13.99 for a 3 scoop bowl, it smelled funny since i opened the bowl. after trying every different item, the shrimp smelled and tasted a little off. i went back to the place and spoke to thomas and said he was the manager and wouldn't do anything about it. i asked him for a refund because this was not right, my whole bowl is unedible and i did not want to risk getting anymore sick. i asked to speak to manager or owner, thomas refused to give me his information and said "no, i won't do anything about it." he said the owner was james and he wouldn't do anything about it either. read more

Wow! This place is great! I haven't been to many poke shops but I really like how this place focuses on the quantity of the fish over the toppings! I got a regular bowl (3 scoops) for $10.99 which is good considering the quality of the poke! Liked that I got to try out the poke before making my selection.. had to ask for a sample rather than getting it offered but whatever. I ended up picking spicy tuna, spicy salmon, and spicy shrimp. I came on a Saturday evening around 5:30PM to a quiet and empty restaurant. I was surprised the place was slow but maybe because it was still early for dinner.. The servers are very helpful, they'll answer any questions you have and offer suggestions/recommendations if you ask! I'm a small girl who doesn't eat too much and I get very full off the regular size bowl which comes with three types of fish. I usually do white rice with salmon, tuna, and yellowtail. For toppings, I like crab meat, spicy crab meat, avocado, seaweed salad, green onions, red onions, nori, furikake, and masago. A server recommended a mixture of spicy mayo, eel sauce, sesame oil, and ponzu sauce as the sauce and it's a winner! I've had Pokilicious many times but I think I like Poke Bistro more! Came here for a second time tonight and I like this place waaaaay more than Pokilicious down the street. The interior is so clean, the seafood is fresh, and the presentation is better. The fish scoops are smaller compared to pretty much every byo poke place, but the whole bowl in entirety was pretty filling and I didn't find myself dying for more fish. They have spicy salmon which of course I chose as my only protein. I love that their sauce is actually spicy. I got the loco 2 the first time I visited and didn't taste like any spice at all so I opted for the 911 sauce instead this time around and it was PERFECT omg. Especially with eel sauce! I also love that their cucumbers are pickled in the Korean fashion and not just plain. I actually went to a poke place elsewhere and the cucumbers were not only plain but ROTTEN ewwww. But ya i think this will be my new go to place. Especially since they're next to boba fiend and I'm there all the time anyways. OH YEAH and I LOVED the service! The guys there tonight (wish they had name tags so I can shout them out) were so attentive and nice and greeted everyone coming in and out. They didn't seem bored while serving us. When my boyfriend was ordering, who is a newbie to raw fish in general, the guy helping him recommended things and I was glad cause I didn't have to help him through LOL. Regular bowl for $10 to get the option of 3 scoops of fish! The place is nice and clean brightly lit with natural light. Not too much seating so that kind of sucks but we managed to come when nobody was in. So for the food, portion size is large. There are so many toppings and so many sauces. I can't say having a lot of options is always good though, some were just super weird (like the spicy mango). But I'm not downgrading just because my taste doesn't fit every flavor. This was my first time and definitely not coming back again. My boyfriend insisted in coming to this place; so we walked in. It was so quiet. Favorite poke place in the IE & OC areas! Wide selection of refreshing sauces, solid protein options, great array of free toppings, decent portion sizing, decent pricing, and low waste packaging! I wish they offered tortilla chips as a base, but not a big deal. Workers are always nice.
