Poke bowls are one of my favorite. I've ate a lot of those in LA. Was happy to come across one of those on my visit in Chicago. Be wary of this place when checking out. Let me start off by saying the food is tasty but the service here sucks major balls. They are stingy with the protein portions and fill the bowl with mainly rice(just like chipotle) leaving no room for any other toppings. The first time I went to this place (a couple of weeks after they opened) a Asian dude helped me and he was very stingy on the toppings. He would put each topping piece by piece in the bowl no matter what it was whether it be onions, jalapeños, ginger, or edamame which took forever and at one point he realized he put five slivers of onions so he put one back. At the end I asked him what one of the sauces was(the Korean hot sauce) and if it had shellfish in it and he reply's he doesn't understand what I'm asking because he doesn't speak English and just walks away. So I didn't go back to this location for a while but today I decided to grab lunch from them since I was next door shopping. Today the bearded Hispanic dude (who was training another dude) helped me and right off the bat his demeanor seemed like he was annoyed we were shopping there and that he didn't want to be there cause he was more focused on talking to the other guy than focus on the customers orders. And of course like the time before this dude filled the bowl to the top with rice practically no room for any other toppings. I got the spicy chicken and like last time this guy was stingy with the portions too. He gave me about half a scoop of it. When it came to checkout I notice he adds a dollar surcharge but I didn't say anything thinking maybe it's for one of the toppings I chose cause I know they charge a dollar extra for certain toppings. When I got home with my bowl and looked at the menu I saw that the toppings I got on my bowl didn't warrant the extra dollar surcharge. That motherclucker was just being a duck and was trying to pull a fast one on my. A spicy chicken bowl is $10 and comes out to $11.10ish with tax instead of $12.30. If this basshole over charged me imagine how many people he's doing it to throughout his shift and how many people don't even realize they got over charged. Especially if they had a big order. On top of that before my card transaction was done this jackbass had already walked to the back so there was no one in the front to get me my receipt. If the level of their service continues to be this bad then I doubt this place will survive. read more

I decided to try it again after an ok first impression. This time I ordered online and it was a lot better! I built my own bowl and the portions of the various ingredients meshed really well together. There wasn't too much of any one ingredient which made it a really good poke bowl. The protein flavor is definitely the star of the poke bowl (I had the marinated tuna and spicy salmon). Overall, I'm glad I tried it again and will be coming back for more. Wonderful addition to the area, for a change of pace. No fried food here! Their food is delicious and so very fresh! They offer many choices, from signature bowls to build your own. The entire place is incredibly clean and well organized. They offer both dine-in and patio areas in which to eat, that are very comfortable. The staff is extremely helpful and so pleasant! Since discovering this place we come back at least once a week. If you like sushi, Poke Bros. is a must go to experience. read more

I went into Poke Bros. today to place an order. The woman behind the counter was putting on makeup near the food. She turned around to help me and I asked her to please wash her hands. At that point she washed her hands but became really rude as I was picking out the good to go in my bowl. She skimped on most of the food and I kept asking her for more. I even told her I would pay for the extra avocado, wontons, etc. She then covered my bowl and basically threw it at me. Don't think I will got back again. read more

I walked into the restaurant and needed to use the bathroom before I ordered so I asked the man up front and he pointed to the back. I went into the open bathroom but the door didn't close so I waited by the other bathroom that was currently in use. A petite Asian woman walks out and in an extremely rude tone says you can't use this bathroom, it's not working. Why didn't you use the other bathroom? I explained that the door wouldn't close. She tried to close the door and it wouldn't budge. Then she goes inside the bathroom and found a hook and unlatched the door and gave me a nasty look as if to say you should have known there was a hook when she didn't even realize at first. How was I supposed to know that? Also the door lock was broken once I used the bathroom. I came out and was excited to get some poke. As I walk down the hallway I hear her yelling and when I came to the counter this woman was yelling at the employees on the floor! I was so turned off by her behavior I decided to go next door to Blaze instead. I don't know if she is the owner or the manager but she is so rude to customers and employees and is driving away business. Based on other reviews here it sounds like she had been nasty to other people as well. She needs to learn to treat people with respect starting with her staff. A good manager wouldn't yell at their employees and if there was an issue they would talk with the employee in private and certainly not in front of customers. read more

Very rude service. walked in and waited in line after another lady, and when it was my turn to order, there was no greeting said, not even a "hello what would you like to order?". There was no notice of my presence, so I ordered a tide bowl and wanted to make some minor changes to it but the lady moved very speedy fashion (being the only one in line, WHAT?) And added all the toppings when I stopped her, she went on and added various toppings the bowl contained. didn't give me a second to cut her off, so when it was time to add the protein she added 3 bite sized pieces of chicken, I told her to add a bit more, don't skimp out on the main course of this bowl. And without hesitancy she told me that extra would be $3. I walked out of this place paying $15 for rice and 3 pieces of chicken and shrimp. Never returning. you get more bang for your buck at Chipotle and the employees there will offer you the bare minimum of respect than I had here read more
