First time ever having poke was here. I can say the first couple times I came I thought it was just okay, but honestly half of it's on you because you create your own bowl. By the third visit, I perfected my bowl! I get 1/2 brown rice 1/2 salad, all the fix-ins, salmon and ahi, medium house sauce, spicy mayo and cilantro twist, then top it off with masago and green onion. Super yum! read more

I was told 6 o'clock on the phone, however when I entered the restaurant it was 5:25 PM, and the workers told me they closed at 5:30 and they could not help me. So this was my first poke experience ever and its definitely going to need some explanation. Being a sushi lover I've been hearing about this poke stuff and how it seemed like an affordable alternative given the ingredients are the same as sushi. I had gone in with the "affordable sushi" mindset and ended up with a completely different experience. First of all everyone had warned me that the first time having poke will not be the best because you can't just throw all of the things you love about sushi into one bowl and expect it to be great. So me being me I ignored that and just went for it. Man I hate when others are right. It was good for sure, the fish was fresh, the toppings were good and the rice consistency was great. However there are plenty of things that I'd do differently next time. I found that to be the cool part about this experience is that I already planned on coming back and finding a different combo that would be better. I am a poke fanatic! I've been coming to this place since it opened and by far it is the tastiest, best quality poke I've had from any poke place. However I have noticed that the employees here constant have a horrible attitude and it's only gotten worse. Walking in I get the sense of being unwanted. Even a simple order is a burden to them. The portion sizes have cut down, the toppings are rationed out to half of what they used to be. I only get 2 toppings so I'd think asking for a little bit more wouldn't be a big deal but I'm given attitude and told they'd charge me more, just to get the amount that I would by default get at another establishment. I mean, yes the poke is tasty but I'm going to have to reconsider if it's worth it. It's been a long time since someone has been friendly there. I don't know what kind of moral is going on behind the scenes, but the negativity from the staff is really tempting me to say that the yumminess is. It worth it anymore. read more

I have been here several times and the service and food is always great. On May 17th around 6pm there were three very sour employees working and it really made for an awful customer experience. The service was awful as the employees couldn't even manage a fake smile or to say hello. They had looks of disdain on their face. Other than the sour faced employees the food was good. I would like management to consider customer service training, otherwise they are likely to see a decline in sales even if the food is good. Customer service and how that relates to customer experience is a big part of getting customers to return. read more

Absolutely fantastic! I got half brown rice/half white, all of the toppings, with salmon, scallops, and ahi. It was hands down one of the best dishes I've had in the last few months! I've been coming to this poke place since opening day (though this still is my favorite poke place) their service and quality has drastically gone down. It seems as though none of their employees now are properly trained and can never really hear what you're asking for or just assume what you want. This guy once put his entire bare hand on my poke bowl and he wouldn't have even done anything had my boyfriend told him to make me a new one. The prices have gone up nearly 3-4$ since this place has first opened and whenever you ask for a topping they are so skimpy and then when you ask for a little more they look at you like you're dumb. Today I asked for a veggie bowl and I asked for just cucumber as my first set of topping and homeboy gave me like 4 LITERAL slices of cucumber, I had to ask him for more 3 times for more. Then he just assumed I wanted tofu without asking and when I told him no tofu he said "well isn't this a veggie bowl"- I understand this guy might be a new employee but things like this have happened on more than one occasion with multiple different employees. I just wish the quality and service was what it used to be. I'm very disappointed, currently looking for a new poke spot. read more

I really give them 2 stars for service. This place is located directly below my office and we have 15 staff members who were very excited to try this place out and have actually eaten here multiple times since it's opening. The annoying part is, they went out of their way to advise us we get a "village discount" and to let them know next time we're in. Ok, great! I tell all of our staff members and everyone has a nice, warm and fuzzy feeling. When we go to actually do what they say and tell them we get a "village discount" we go through an FBI interrogation because we "don't wear uniforms or badges" to prove where we work! Uhhh, most people working in a professional office environment do not wear uniforms and name badges??? Really? The food is good but this ridiculous behavior by the staff and the bad execution with their good neighbor discount has put a taint on the company. Now when I see them it's annoying. We don't really care about the .80 cents we would save..it's more the attitude and execution that took what was I'm sure intentionally a good thing to an annoying negative. Business owner, I recommend you move to a punch card if you want to reward customers and not leave it up to the discretion of the cashier because it's obviously too much responsibility to handle. In regards to their other qualities...in general, I do think the service is a bit slow. The first time I was there, only 1 guy was behind the counter and I was the only customer. 2 other people came in and he batched my order with theirs making me wait longer while a girl was directly behind him casually cleaning trays. Customers are more important than trays. In regards to food...I like it but there are a lot of poke places around so it's a commodity and your main differentiator will be service. Work on this and it could be a winner. Only time will tell. read more

This place is absolutely DISGUSTING. Where do I even begin? The customer service is terrible for the most part and any kindness given to employees is not shown back or even acknowledged. They're all super rude and act annoyed when you request for anything. As if doing the job they're paid to do is such a strain My daughter and I came in expecting good poke because you would think that a restaurant in this location would be good but it was terrible. Keep in mind the whole time i was very rushed (no people were in the store!!) . The rice is soggy, bland, and overcooked. The fish has a RIDICULOUS amount of cross contamination and the place where the fish is placed is very dirty and unclean. My daughter has a food handlers card and as a food handler avoiding cross contamination is very important! The fish looked so old and mushy I was disgusted. A neighboring business was accidentally given their fish and he said he was disgusted at the sight of it as the tuna was dark and mushy and not sushi grade whatsoever. yuck. The sauces are okay but have a weird taste where they're bland but also not at the same time. Very unappetizing. And then to the end with all of the dry toppings, it was an absolute mess. There was cross contamination and crap every where and it looked very dirty and disgusting. and cheeto dust?(not authentic poke at all btw) the soda machine area was also disgusting as well with a bunch of sriracha and dry soy sauce stuck to the counter. Don't your employees get paid to clean? Or..? I will never come back to this disgusting and unkempt place. read more

Been here twice and love their bowls - as a sushi lover im loving this new craze. Large bowl for me with 5 helpings of fish , plenty of seaweed and delicious sauces. Staff was quick and willing to answer questions. I will definitely continue to frequent this place. Plus there's a 21 choices nearby for a treat after lol read more

first time here. i got the 3 scoop i got salmon spicy tuna and regular tuna. spicy tuna was dry idk why. i noticed the cuts were sloppy and big. i made the mistake to ask for sesame because i got a huge dollop of oil into my small bowl of fish. i got the #1 sauce ,which i thought waa good with spicy mayo as well. when i bit into my fish i got a gross after taste of old. it was not fresh at all and i hat to cut my fish it way too big. i had stomach problems the next day. i will not be returning instead will patiently wait for oke poke to open on foothill read more

Poke Dots just opened this week. I'm so excited that it's in the Claremont Village where it's close by. Andrew the manager was friendly and introduced himself. All the servers were very polite and helpful. The food was fresh and delicious. I was here last weekend when everything was 50% off. Talk about a great deal!! This was a great light dinner. Fresh, flavorful, really tasty. The menu was a little confusing at first but the staff helped us figure it out. It's a choose your own toppings place. I had half salad and half rice base which was a good combo. Fish was fresh. Sauces were so tasty. I had mild and I think wasabi mayo? Cilantro and panko topped it off with a nice crunch.
