I loved this place! Food is great and genuine. The moment I saw the word Culichi I was hooked and the food did not dissapoint. Someone here complained about seeds in the chile rellenos, he must have been white ( no offense). Seeds make it a shade hotter and let me tell you about people from Culiacán, they do not fear the heat! The coconuts are drenched in a delicious sauce. If I have a complaint it's that the dish should have higher sides because of all the sauce. And I loved that they serve it with a little mayonnaise on the side. That is soooo Northern Mexican. Even when we were the only table dining in. When we ordered drinks, we asked for water, and she brought bottled water and confirmed it would be $2, which is fine according to the menu. So since we will be getting charged for water we then asked for Coke instead, which is also $2 on the menu, but she brought us Mexican Coke bottles at $5 each. When ordering food, my boyfriend pointed to the menu and ordered the Aguachile Negro. I ordered a sushi roll. Kathy returned with two sushi rolls instead, assuming my boyfriend ordered the roll even though he pointed to the tostada section. The roll cost more than the tostada. We let her know, but she kept insisting he just try it. My boyfriend decided to keep it to avoid making a scene, but it wasn't what he ordered, and the combination with sushi rice was not good. I don't mind paying more if it's for what I actually ordered, but this was frustrating because we paid extra for something we didn't want. I've been coming here off and on for years. Although I used to absolutely love the rolls here before. So much so that I would drive a long way for this craving. I feel like the taste of this food has gone a bit south. Nothing tasted as good as I remembered it from previous times. The prices are really high, but it never matters for exceptional food. It mattered this time. The best part about this meal was only the chili that came with the food. The cashier was great. The server was great. They all seemed authenticity happy to be there they even packaged my food nicely and spill free. The only thing that kinda bugged me was seeing them prepare the food without gloves. Especially when I saw them touching chicken in the kitchen and mixing stuff in a bowl. Maybe it's just me, but it bothered me. This location is family-friendly and date night friendly. I saw 2 big families there enjoying each other and their meals. I also saw a couple enjoying a date night. The location of this place is in a sketchy area with a lot of homeless people around. It is also a bit hard to find parking in this place because it shares the location with other businesses, so parking is scarce. I was SO excited to find a restaurant nearby that had yakimeshi. I drove 20 minutes from my hotel in Rancho Cucamonga to get yakimeshi and was unpleasantly surprised. The restaurant is in the back of an odd plaza and is dimly lit (and to be honest, sketchy) outside. The inside decor was interesting but trying a little too hard to be social media cool. If you've seen it you know what I mean. Th young lady at the front was nice and helpful as I asked about a few of the menu items. I'll be honest, this is the weirdest assortment of sushi I've ever seen. Check the menu... I'll wait. I decide to get the ultimate yakimeshi and once I open it I'm excited by the presentation. That's where the experience came to a full stop. The sauce wasn't good but the meal was drenched in it. I decide to try to eat around it but the rice underneath the imitation crab meat was dry and bland. That explains why the cover the food in sauce, it's the only flavor (albeit bad) you're going to get. I ended up throwing 90% of it away, there was no saving the yakimeshi. It was just one huge roll & I was stuck at work with no way to cut them down to portion sizes. The sides were small and just tossed into there with no care whatsoever.
