My review is limited because all I've tried so far is the chicken soup, which was quite good. The woman who took care of me was friendly and enthusiastic about her restaurant. This restaurant is within "The Commons" at UB's north campus. It is open to everyone, not just students. If you are visiting UB's north campus for any reason, say to visit the Libraries, take in a show, or concert, or a sporting event, consider taking a walk down the hill to The Commons. Actually really good! A lotta angry old Mayo ladies have left some poor reviews but this place is pretty great. This is a must!! for ub students. Take a break from ruining your colon with all that guac n roll and c3. spoil yourself and spare your toilet. It reopened a couple weeks ago after like 2 years, and it was my first time coming recently. Good food, probably my favorite place in the UB commons. It is excellent location wise for students here. Poke bowls taste great, there's a lot of options for the sides/toppings. The ingredients all seem fresh, well prepared. The food is presentable and seems to be of good quality. The rice is always delicious too. I'd appreciate if I could pick some up every week or something lmao. (Please. The children are hungry.) The Baos / steamed buns are usually fresh and are a huge treat. My only real issue with this place is prices are kind of high. One bun will run you $4! I understand they need to make a profit and maybe are operating on razor thin margins...considering fish is expensive, good ingredients cost more than the plastic at C3, Covids effect on supply chains, current gas and shipping costs... there's a reason for the price. It's not that much higher, it's similar to all the other places in the commons, really. and I choose to come here, nobody's forcing me to empty my wallet. (State mandated poke would be lit tho‼) If you get your money up not your funny up it's not that big a deal. Also, if you are the type to complain about restaurants not catering to specifically you, because you are vegan, your name starts with K and ends with -aren, and everyone and everything revolves around you, guess what! They accommodate very well and you should have no reason to have a meltdown. Just tell them you are vegan instead of throwing a fit about the mayonnaise you asked for... there are vegan options and you will still be satisfied. Everything bowl wise can be customized. It's all up to you. Simply put I highly recommend this place to anyone nearby, especially UB students. Poke Factory opened up on UB's North Campus this year. It's located in the UB Commons, which is full of exotic cuisine from around the world...which you cannot use your meal plan at. I first tried Poke Factory during the last week of the Spring 2018 Semester. I ordered a regular bowl and asked to have a mixed base with the spring mix and sushi rice, which they let me do. For protein, I ordered salmon because tuna is $1 extra! Toppings, I asked for pineapple, corn, masago, and seaweed salad. Finally, garnish I ordered fried onions. I also asked for the sesame sauce on the side. So, the pineapple was definitely from a can, not fresh. It tasted spoiled and from then on, I never ordered anything with pineapple again. The tuna was very fishy and again, not fresh. The sesame sauce was made from an mayonnaise base, which I learned they do the same with all of their sauces. Despite my 4/5 experience, I continued to eat here for the entirety of my two weeks of finals. I instead ordered oranges rather than the pineapple. During my 3 weeks of eating here, I noticed that they were frequently out of items, such as salmon, spring mix, and all smoothies with milk. These items were continuously out of stock, which is very disappointing and shows poor planning on their part. Today, over a month later, I returned and was very disappointed. During finals week, the container was completely full. This time, the container was 1/3-1/2 full and thus leaving me still hungry. Also, they were out of stock of several items, including tuna, spring mix, and 1/2 of their sauces. The salmon that I was served, was very fish and not fresh (as usual!). Overall, it's very convenient, fast, healthy-ish, and doesn't leave you feeling tired. As a college kid, these are the most important points. But, as a foodie, this place has a lot of improvements that they need to be made. It's flat out not fresh and they constantly have items out of stock. I stopped at this place a couple of weeks ago while visiting my family. I ordered yogurt milk bubble tea which is my favorite when i go to a place that serves bubble tea. This time the bubble tea tasted a bit sour along with the spicy tuna which I had added to my poke plate. I did not get sick, although I was concerned for other people that got the tuna as well. I wish I could give 0 stars. They say "vegan friendly" at the store so I felt comfortable asking for my order to be vegan. I requested the vegetarian bowl veganized and also ordered a "spinach and kale juice". Little did I know, the juice was to be made with a salad mix (so it contains romaine and this was during the E.Coli outbreak and they were still serving it) and was not as described. My "vegan" tofu bowl came back with mayo on it and they tried to tell me it was "juice from the tofu, not mayo". However, it was definitely mayo. With all of this, I asked for my money back and said I did not want the food. They claimed they refunded the money to my card but they never did!! There is no phone number so I can't call and complain to get my money back and they won't respond to emails. This is a terrible establishment with terrible customer service. I highly suggest that no one ever goes there, and especially if you are vegan BEWARE. read more
